The Greenhouse Cafe & Cocktail Lounge

Used to come here a lot. I was here yesterday and enjoying my matcha latte - until I have felt something in my mouth as I take my last sip. There was this white-pinkish, hard bead thing in the drink, still no idea what that is but that thing broke between my teeth as I chewed. The lady on the counter said she has no idea and mumbled that she is sorry, and didn’t offer me any refund or redoing the drink (it was other male staff member who made my drink fyi). Didn’t ask me if I was okay at all or anything - it was a very awkward moment. Having an unidentifiable object in your drink is a food hazard? Think it will be my last visit.

I’ve never walked into a place and felt more at home than I did at this establishment. What drew me in were the windows decked out in houseplants, soft lighting from the globe lights hanging amongst the ceiling, and of course the great sounding menu. The drinks were amazing and customer service could not have been better. I walked in and was immediately helped. The staff was personable, super friendly and always went out of their way to make sure I was good. If you’re looking for a lounge with great drinks, music, soft lighting and overall great vibes, you gotta check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!

We only had drinks but the drinks were great and all 3 bartenders on Saturday evening during apple fest were wonderful! Very pleasant and custom made a shot from a loose recipie we had, and they were so fun! The plants hanging all over made the environment sooo relaxing and chill, such a cute place. We appreciated the vibe, the banter and delicious drinks, cant wait to come back!

Walked in yesterday expecting to order some salads. Stood at the counter for sometime, and I have no problem waiting for service. But the gentleman behind the counter gave us no eye contact. No acknowledgment. What seemed like many awkward minutes later he finally looked my way and literally rolled his eyes. I had no choice, but to walk out. I have no problem, waiting for service, especially when it seemed he was working alone. I would’ve understood if it took some time to get our order placed but to roll his eyes at me was uncalled for.

This is a chill little spot where your comfortable retro bar meets an internet coffee shop. If you're looking for comfort and a friendly smile, this place seems to be the spot. The coffee is amazing, with cool little games in random.places. Summer was our bartender, and was very helpful giving us cool tips about the town and area surrounding.

I originally ordered an espresso martini and a veggie flatbread. But, I loved the atmosphere, food, and service so much I added an Americano and stayed longer. Jennifer and Caleb make a guest feel like family! They are amazing, and so is the Greenhouse Cafe.

This is a really cool cafe in Ithaca downtown. A nice place to grab a cocktail, mocktail or a coffee drink. Food was yummy. Loved the atmosphere inside. There are board games as well.

I really wanted to love this place. A cafe just off the Commons where you can sip coffee surrounded by plants? Loved the idea, but not so much the reality. Firstly, the smell was pretty strong. You know how when you're changing the water in a bouquet and it's a bit pungent? That's what the interior smelled like the day I went. Avid plant people might not mind, but I wasn't feeling it. There was live music that day. Upon walking in already I was already leery. For such a small space the performer was a tad too loud. Also, she was signing to a pre-recorded track. Lots of Lady Gaga. Her voice wasn't bad, but it just was not the vibe I was looking for. I don't remember exactly what my latte was, I think lavender sage? It was tasty, but a little pricey, especially for the size glass it came out in. Staff was nice. Cashier was hustling. This was just not it for me. I probably won't be back since I'm not in Ithaca often. Truth be told this was more of a 2 star experience for me but I'm rating 3 because there was a charm to it and under different conditions it could probably be better.

Espresso. Martini. If there's ONE thing you can only get when you come here, let it be that. I drag everyone here. Dates, parents, friends, me & my laptop when I want a one-stop shop to get caffeinated and buzzed. Their alcoholic stuff is the best, and their coffee is good, too. Most of their food is plant-based and a lil' on the pricier side. Only thing I don't rec getting here are their cookies. I tried getting one at two different times and it was like tryna bite into a pretty gemstone; would've had better luck wearing it like a protective amulet.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was quite dark, and there was visible tension among the staff. They were even shaking hands with customers without gloves, which made me uncomfortable. The cheese plate had limited options and was underwhelming, but the pretzel was decent. To add to the discomfort, the staff openly discussed their issues in front of customers. Unfortunately, the food didn't impress me, and we ended up leaving most of it behind. What made it worse was a strange comment from a staff member about leaving food. Weird vibes all around.

The environment and decor is super cute, but their cocktails lacked :(. Was particularly disappointed by the espresso martini that was more chocolate milk than espresso-like. Again, super cute spot and perhaps great for food but would not recommend for cocktails

Went here on date night with my husband and had the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. This place is dirty and dingy, the staff acted as if they did not want us there, and we were overcharged by like $10, so they are dishonest!!!! We ordered a beer, which was warm and nasty (like the tap had not been properly cleaned), and a cookie which was stale and horrible, probably the worst cookie I have ever tasted in my life. We will definitely avoid this horrible place going forward and I recommend everyone does too. Believe me, your money will be better and more safely spent elsewhere... anywhere else, really!

I was on a search for a quiet cafe-style spot with indoor seating, for days where I want to post up for a couple hours to get some work done but also be out in the world. The Greenhouse, with its cafe-by-day and lowkey bar-by-night atmosphere is perfect for this. I arrived at 3pm and there were two table occupied, with a few more folks trickling in between the time I arrived and 5pm. This was ideal for a quiet afternoon of studying and working. I note this, because the space can become much livelier later at night, when folks transition to (delicious) cocktails and enjoy occasional live music. I recommend the Blue Skies gin cocktail, but I'm looking forward to trying multiple others on their menu. I ordered chicken sliders, which had a great aioli. Felt reasonable for $12 -- could easily be shared with another person. The interior is delightful, with a gorgeous seated bar and lots of healthy plants. The people working were lovely too. Happy to have a new spot to haunt.

Absolutely awesome bar/coffee shop/plant nursery. I had an excellent unique cocktail, while other friends enjoyed coffee or other alcoholic beverages--everyone loved what they got. Above all, the vibes here are immaculate. When we went there was a fantastic local musician playing all sorts of music (taking requests from a long list of songs spanning many decades and genres). We hung out here for a nice while and soaked in the nice atmosphere. Other clients looked to be having a lot of fun too. The plants definitely make for a cool ambiance. Just a truly super unique Ithaca institution that I highly highly recommend!

Lacking was the food and drinks. Steak sliders were almost inedible. The cuts are full of gristle. One bite even hurt. Very pricey too. Drinks were hit or miss. A generous 3 stars. Service is friendly and prompt.

This was a good experience with good food and a great cocktail. Now unfortunately I do think that the food is overpriced for what you receive when you are served it. The Brie platter had only a small wedge of Brie that you'd have to spread very thinly if you wanted to use up your crostini. Tons of pecans though. The fried capers hummus was also yummy but I couldn't taste capers at all--it tasted like turmeric and not much else, but I do love turmeric. The best part however was the cocktail--their Blue Skies cocktail was absolutely scrumptious and looked beautiful. There is also a nice atmosphere here and everyone was very kind. It presents itself like a place to grab food but the portion sizes are quite small for the price you pay. Enjoy a cocktail here but just prepare for the size of your food!

Stopped in for drinks after dinner, drinks were great. Kind of wish we ate there. They had lots of GF, DF, & Vegan options. Service was a little slow but no big deal. I would not recommend the blueberry lemon muffin cookie. It tastes like chalk.

Fell into this spot while walking in The Commons. Great vegan options! I forgot to snap a photo of my cocktail, A Great Pear, but highly recommend for something refreshing.

Cute coffeehouse feel indoors with a few outdoor tables on the sidewalk. Lots of plants and some cute games inside. Masks required if you're inside. They have a QR code menu which is excellent. Several vegan options, many gluten free & vegetarian dishes. The hummus + crudités was so good as was the veganized smoked pesto grilled cheese. Service was friendly but slow and the food presentation was a little lackluster or just... I dunno -- a bit weird. The cocktail menu looked creative & fun though it was lunchtime so we didn't partake. We'll be back.

Loved the arugula salad. Really great staff and vibe. Great cocktails. Would have liked a stronger coffee, but overall high marks!

This place is great. I've eaten outside three times. While the menu is limited, I had the quinoa salad, tofu bowl and wedge salad. All were great, although please cut the wedge salad into pieces:) The drinks are fantastic with a lot of cocktails, beers and wines to choose from The wine flight is great. Excellent wines with nice sized portions. No skimpy glasses here. There is a selection of vegan options. It is pretty casual, but good quality. Not a four course meal spot, but if you like a descent drink with some nice apps or a low key meal, this is the place. Also, they bring food to you after you go to the counter. Chris was awesome.

I really wanted to like this place based upon some of the other reviews, but I left kind of disappointed. I ordered the Smoked Pesto Grilled Cheese because the individual behind the desk said it was the most popular item. However, it was nothing more than 'meh'. The focaccia bread wasn't "grilled" like a typical grilled cheese. Instead, it was simply warmed up and extremely soft. And Not fresh tasting. The Brussels sprouts also left much to be desired. We also ordered a salad that was super heavy on the dressing and included a ridiculous amount of tomatoes. The menu is also not kid friendly. As a result, I brought in something from outside the restaurant for my child, and I was asked to eat outside. I get it, but seemed a bit harsh. Needless to say, I won't return and will find someplace else to dine while in Ithaca.

Quite possibly the BEST espresso martini I've ever had. Warm and inviting atmosphere- great music - amazing plants - and some pretty kickass servers. Everything was delicious - the caper hummus was to die for and the s'mores pot de creme was out of this world. Did I mention it was the best espresso martini I've ever had? Highly recommend this place! Definitely will be back!

Fun spot for cocktails, coffee, or a quick bite. Great addition to the Ithaca night scene. Cocktails have interesting ingredients but could be a bit stronger.

Georgie is absolutely the most amazing bartender in the entire world. She had the best recommendations, listening to our flavor profiles and recommended the most amazing cocktails. She was incredibly personable and made our entire experience the best

Really unique and delicious food & cocktails! Such a great atmosphere! We loved it and hope to return soon! If I lived in Ithaca, I'd sit there with my computer and coffee on a regular basis!

A very hip and modern spot for a casual drink and meal! Seats are nicely spaced out. I recommend the caper hummus for those that want something refreshing and light!

We had a fun time getting desert there. It's really lovely inside and everyone is so friendly.

Quite cold and rude service for the warm vibe it's trying to achieve. Was waved away by the waitress/bartender as I inquired about extra seats. Ended up having only one drink with my partner after a long wait. Was not worth it.

We stopped down here after a summer concert series. This place has an amazing ambience for a nice get together with friends and an awesome drink selection! We weren't able to stay for very long but the staff was kind enough to put our dinner in to-go containers! So happy we got the sliders and didn't miss out on a chance to try them! The chicken sliders were out of this world. I would recommend anyone looking for good drinks, good food and a welcoming atmosphere to slide in at least once! Thank you Greenhouse!

Charming cafe and bar space with wonderful food and great staff. Asked about the amazing smoked food smell when we walked in and learned it was smoked Brussels sprouts that go on the pesto grilled cheese, so I had to order it. It's unbelievably good, especially the Brussels sprouts. Had one of the draft beers on this visit and will be returning to try other dishes and something from the lovely cocktail menu.

An inventive and flavorful menu, replete with cocktails, prepared and served by the friendly and hospitable owner and staff. We enjoy stumbling over gems like this in our travels- this is one we would certainly return to.

An excellent establishment. Delicious baked feta and Brie platter. Delicious beef sliders. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Highly, highly recommend.

Cozy vibes with distanced seating! We sat in the window stage area and enjoyed cocktails on a Friday evening! Staff is welcoming, local and accommodating. Reservations are available! My only wish is that they served coffee as well!

The ambience and vibe of this place is really cute. However, that was the only redeemable quality. We were unfortunately greeted by this very rude woman who worked there. She came up to us three separate times, being very passive aggressive and badgering us to order (we were planning on it). But because of the manner in which she approached us/spoke to us, we didn't even want to give them our service, so we got up and left. Instead of giving one star, I gave two to give their food the benefit of the doubt. But if you want good customer service, this is not the place to go.

Great ambiance, great service! Fun, cozy, casual place to enjoy a drink. By the way the drinks are great.

This was the first place my girlfriend and I visited when we were in Ithaca. Everything about this place was great, from the ambiance, to the helpful staff, the delicious food, and even the tasty drinks! We would definitely recommend the Greenhouse Cafe.
