I stayed at this hotel about 8 or so years ago. It was lovely and in a bit of a rough neighborhood, but the owners did a great job of creating an oasis in the area. It is not so anymore. I spent literally 15 minutes in the room before I left and found another hotel. It was dirty, dingey and loud with neighborhood noise. To boot I found an empty condom wrapper on the floor. I can't express enough how I felt like I couldn't feel comfortable in the room. The owners clearly do not care to keep the property up and I was more than disappointed having to pay for another hotel somewhere else. Please do yourself a favor and skip the The Greens Hotel.

Stayed in room F-a single queen. Room looked nothing liked pics. |Noises-squeaky front gate, fridge gasping, AC gurgling. |Room/Decor-Pics showed modern light fixture. Not in this room. No green decorated pillows. No soft chair. Just a wobbly table and two chairs. |No coffee/coffee maker in this room. |Hooks on a rack for your clothes.|Toiletries-minimalistic. Two small tubes of shampoo and two mini soaps. |Disinfectant spray on sink is mine. Bought it after checking in.|Location-as noted in other reviews. |Atmosphere-:-/|This could work if you’re in the middle of a long road trip…maybe. Just don’t be disappointed if your room is a far cry from the “fully renovated” look provided in management pics.

I am shocked a place like this is really open and doing business. Call me crazy but if I am going to spend $80+ tax plus $100 deposit I expect not only a room that's a tad larger than a large closet. I won't even talk about the cockroachs or the soda dispenser that sells cans of soda for $3.00 each. But I will say this, $100 deposit for what exactly?? The TV isnt worth $100, there isn't even a clock in the room, no coffee pot, iron, or any amenities that make being away from home easier. They don't even have complimentary shampoo and conditioner. No lotion, NOTHING! They do give you a plastic bucket for ice and a plastic tray to put it on. Oh but one thing I did forget that made my day.....THE ICE MACHINE WORKED!! No warm drinks for me !! Winning!! I'll get a tent and sleeping bag next timenand save my money.

I have known about this property for years, but finally had the chance to stay here for an extended time. Uptown, aka The Heights, isn't the best neighborhood in general. But the immediate area has a lot to offer for food and drink. The hotel property is gated, creating an oasis of a compound. It's quiet, not terribly busy except on weekends, when they often sell out. The hotel was built back when things were solid. You do not hear the next room through the walls, better than most hotels these days, by far. It's overseen by a kind Indian family that do a good job and keep things clean, and most of the riff raff out. All of the food establishments on the block are good, the brewery across the street is exceptional, the bbq place on the corner is a great value. Mass transportation (RT Light Rail+ busses) is a block away. A VERY convenient location for anything Sacramento. The rates are among the lowest in the entire city. If you book 6 nights, you get a weekly rate that's even better. The rooms are large, and come with a regular upright fridge/freezer, a decent microwave, and sink. The bathrooms are good size with an easy 2 person size shower. Threre is a pool, that sems functioning, but apparantly not open till next year. And finally, and most important to me: Dog Friendly

Booked three nights, but after checking had an emergency and had to leave. Was willing to pay for the one night and request the other two nights be canceled (24 hour cancellation policy), but management denied the request and had to pay the full three nights. This has nothing to do with us leaving, but to add about the safety of the environment two individuals where fighting in the parking lot and the gentleman behind the desk said “I told you we should not have rented to them” going against his better judgement. But yet not willing to refund the two nights I did not even stay there. All and all pretty shady place if you ask me.

The hotel is located in a rough area, but I appreciate its aesthetic decor and the added security of tall gates. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by multiple issues that left me frustrated and disappointed. Check-in was a nightmare. Our room wasn’t ready until 6 PM. Even though check-in time was stated at 3 PM. Upon arrival, the office was locked and it took some time for the receptionist to appear. While she apologized and suggested we go eat while they cleaned the room, this delay threw off our already tight schedule. When we returned with our food, the room was still unprepared, with full trash bins, an unmade bed, and overall poor cleanliness. Housekeeping seemed unaware of the situation And while they rushed to clean it, there was no urgency or offer to make amends for the inconvenience. Adding to the frustration, we were prohibited from eating by the pool, which felt unnecessarily restrictive. Once the room was finally ready, it had an overpowering chemical smell that required ventilation. Later, we discovered the TV wasn’t working, and there was no phone in the room to contact the front desk. When we eventually got a hold of someone they couldn’t fix the issue and said it would have to wait until morning - which was unacceptable. To top it off the next morning, we encountered a COCKROACH in the room. That was the final straw. I reported this to Expedia, but it was up to the hotel to offer some kind of compensation or solution due to the payment arrangements which they refused. The manager, David even denied knowing about some of our complaints despite the evidence presented to Expedia and acted like he could not see the cockroach by the bed. Checkout was equally frustrating, as the office was locked again, and I had to wait for staff to appear. Overall, while the aesthetics of the hotel were nice, the lack of professionalism, cleanliness and basic enmities ruined what could have been a pleasant day. I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience.

I didn't even know this place existed until a friend staying here told me about it and how to get here. I've driven right past it hundreds of times. Most people I talk to don't know they are rented motel rooms but more individual apartments. Price is fair. They will also match any price you can find on the internet. Mac stay is 21 days then you can come back. The managers work hard are very accommodating ho above and beyond and now this is the only place I stay.
