Surprisingly good food. Gumbo was the best. Staff attentive and friendly. Clean, quiet area for a nice relaxing meal. Nice choices for breakfast including a fresh berry option instead of mixed fruit which is so often chunks of under-ripe melon.

I celebrated my birthday dinner here with friends in 2023, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Valet parking made arrival easy, and the ambiance set the tone for a classy night out. The food was absolutely amazing — flavorful, beautifully presented, and well worth the visit. What stood out even more was the building’s architecture. The original design and elevators have been preserved, giving the space a unique charm that blends history with elegance. Overall: 5/5. Highly recommend for a sophisticated evening in downtown Baton Rouge.

Food was damn good, the burger is up there with the best ive had. Our server was on point and helped with everything. Hotel was cool to stay at to, definitely recommended staying and eating here.

One of the most unforgettable dining experiences in Baton Rouge! From the warm welcome to the impeccable service. The food is an absolute flavor immersion.

Google
Halfway decent food but the atmosphere isn’t worthy of it. I'm not even going to dive into the food really because it's irrelevant to how awful the atmosphere and service here is. Honestly, I had a feeling this was going to be a waste of time the second we walked in and drunk idiots were standing and shouting at the top of their lungs at the adjacent bar without being checked by the hotel or restaurant staff. I was right. We arrived at 4:50 for 5:00 reservations. The host table wasn't staffed until ~5 minutes after our reservation so we weren't seated until after our reservation time. He looked bothered that we were there and was not welcoming at all. We only received food menus with no drink menus. Our server asked if we wanted something other than water, but we advised we didn't receive a drink menu so we didn't know. He brought us a tablet with a drink menu on it only after asking and warned that they didn't have everything on the menu without going into specifics. How lovely. We were seated facing the hotel entrance so there were people standing around our table, taking pictures, and having loud conversations. A “date night” place this is not although that’s what it sells itself as. Do not be fooled; it’s an average but extremely overpriced restaurant in the middle of a busy hotel lobby. Seriously, it’s a small seating area cordoned off by stanchions and velvet ropes from the rest of the lobby. It’s not a separate area or anything, so people are coming in with music playing on their phones, loud luggage rolling on the floor, etc. Just terrible. To boot, this was booked as a birthday dinner for my wife and there wasn’t a *single* mention of it from the host or server at any point. I couldn’t have been more disappointed in that. Something so basic just overlooked I suppose. No restaurant worth its salt would ever let that happen. But it’s why we will never return and why I will never recommend this place to anyone for a special event. Ambience here is way, way off and there are better restaurants nearby that do it right. We walked out of here having spent $200+ including tip on 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, a dessert, and 3 drinks and we were happier to be leaving than we were to be there. Don't say you weren't warned.

Came here for a night cap drink but ended up have a host of plates. Over performed for sure. The crab cakes were the best plate we tried, with real seafood. The burger slapped as well. The patty was great chuck.

Google
Everything was truly exceptional. Easily the best steak that I've had in Baton Rouge. Atmosphere is great and service is impeccable.

Google
What a great place. Spent a week in Baton Rouge dropped in for late night snack, came back for breakfast and then for dinner. Wow. Flavorful food, executed perfectly. Our server -Jonathan - was a treasure.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance, quiet restaurant located in the historic downtown Baton Rouge. Lots of parking but they have valet service and it's free with eating in the restaurant. Just make sure you get your ticket validated. The soup of the day was mushroom. Second best mushroom soup ever had. Secondly to 1908 at Longwood Gardens. Highly recommend. I had the Sensation salad with chicken. Very refreshing yet filling by adding the grilled chicken. Love the cut up tomatoes and what I think was caper berries. I love that when I made the reservation on open table, the restaurant knew my allergies when I arrived and had marked up a menu for me! Excellent service. Our food was great and our service exceptional. I highly recommend The Gregory if you are in the area.

Yelp
My sister and I chose to visit the Gregory for restaurant week. She comes often for happy hour but I had never been at all. The dining room was open and inviting. Our server was attentive and checked in on us several times. We both ordered the barbecue brisket, goat cheese mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I might tell you a joke but I'll never tell you a lie...my food was so gooooooood. The brisket was smoky and tender, the mashed potatoes were creamy and a little tangy from the goat cheese and the Brussels were perfectly crispy! I forgot to mention that we started with a goat cheese spring mix salad and the Parisian Crawfish gnocchi with were both a chefs kiss! We wanted out our dinner with crème brûlée. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I just love it here. I sometimes stop at the bar since it's close to my apartment. It's great vibes. Larissa, Iman, and Gabby always give great service when I am there!! The happy hour special is also a steal!!! Great sized portions for $10 and you must try the Gregory Burger. Also they have a great steak if you come during dinner time. My preferred steak is cooked "Pittsburgh style" and many places can mess that up quite easily but it's been wonderful everytime I've been there. I've been coming for years. Only complaint is that I wish they'd bring their old chocolate cake back ugh! Anyways, great place and I recommend over and over again!

Yelp
The ambience was fancy... prices for happy hour bar bites and drinks were impressive for the quality. The only downfall is that they were kind of busy when we arrived and it took probably at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged... Other guests that we're standing behind ordered and served before us even though we were sitting at the bar patiently..that seemed a little bit odd coming from an ex bartender ... although the two bartenders that did acknowledge and serve us were very helpful and kind so I feel like it made up for the loss in the beginning!

Yelp
I stopped in here for a late supper on a Saturday night. The hostess was friendly and seated us right away. Our service was prompt and I ordered the burger and Parmesan truffle fries and got a side of duck fat potatoes. The burger and fries were amazing. The potatoes were a disappointment. They needed more seasoning and more color. Greg raved about the gumbo so now I want to go back to try it. I tasted the goat cheese mashed potatoes and just thought they were so so, but I'm not a big fan of mashed potatoes unless they are stuffed. The other couple with us got the ribeye steak and said it was very good. Even though their steak was quite thick and large, our food did not take long to come at all. There are lots more interesting things on the menu I'd still like to try so I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Don't sleep on the Happy Hour at The Gregory in downtown BR. Select cocktails/beers 7 to 10 bucks Plenty of food options like the pic 10 bucks each I was not expecting that burger to be so good or the flatbread but I'm already asking my hubs when we're going back for happy hour again They run happy hour everyday 2-7 and the valet parking is free if you eat at the restaurant. (Tip your valet!)

Yelp
I always come here during the lunch hour and order the express lunch and generally enjoy what they offer. I look forward to going for a dinner!

Yelp
Amazing, speedy and friendly surface. Beautiful, intimate but well-lit venue. Food was fantastic. Wonderfully seasoned and complex flavors that all worked together.

Yelp
Went back for a lunch date and enjoyed our selections. As always the place is beautiful. I reserved on Open Table but there was plenty of seating so a reservation didn't seem necessary. We started with the Boudin balls and fried cauliflower. Both were pretty good. There was a little inconsistency with the cauliflower as far as the coating but the flavor was really good. The burger was delicious. The fries were hot and fresh! The bbq wings were good. The sauce was light and not overpowering. We had two non alcoholic Tea drinks but they were super super sweet!! Next time I would ask for light syrup. Our waiter was super friendly. Also I purchased a voucher from 225 eats! It was $24 for $40 in food. I had no issues redeeming it. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
My wife treated to lunch at this fabulous place. I must say the inside of this place is very beautiful. I really enjoyed my date. The food was delicious. I definitely recommend this place. I will most likely return. Good vibes!

Yelp
Had a great dinner here last night, and it was awesome. The gumbo had not only a great taste it had a good heat to it! My filet was cooked perfectly, and the corn matched with it beautifully. Finally, John provided excellent service. Overall a great dinner!

Yelp
We went for our anniversary and it was pretty dead. I will say that there was an LSU game going on so that could have been why. We started off at the bar for happy hour and had the sazerac's, French 75's and charcuterie board. The drinks were pretty good as well as the board. However we did have to wait for the board a bit. We then had a table and got steak mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was overdone and mashed potatoes were bland. I will say that George our server was the redeeming person for the experience. He was a great bartender and server and we appreciated his attention to detail. We would go again because hey it might have been just a slow night. The location though was great in relation to downtown.

Yelp
The bar staff could be more attentive. Didn't really check on me or anyone else . They are very competent at their craft, I can give them that. Spirit and wine list is decent. Although I'd like The wine list to have more fruit forward and robust options by the glass. My entree of redfish was overall disappointing. The redfish was a delight however the accompanying side of potato fritters, roasted tomato and dried butter left me underwhelmed. I'd give the other menu items a chance but would stay away from the redfish on future visits. Took advice an preferred chocolate cake for dessert. Very decadent and is perfect with the side of pecans.

Yelp
Skip it. There has to be a better place to go. We had a reservation for 8PM. By 8:15, I was looking for a server and ordering waters for us and getting menus from the bar. I asked for a water refill and at 8:47PM, my boyfriend went to the bar for to get it for me because our server still hadn't brought me a water. We also still didn't have our food. My man had his heart set on the duck and they took the order but came back later to say they didn't have it. Then we sat and waited for the meals we ordered... And waited. And waited. And waited. Woof. What a disappointment. The drinks were fine. The food was ok. Fingerling potatoes weren't seasoned at all. The sweet potato "fries" were just little cubes. At the end of the day: service is terrible. Drinks are good. Food is mediocre. Go somewhere else.

Tex S.

Yelp
I went for the Easter brunch, which was a buffet, and the amount of food and quality were not worth the 65 per person price. The service was Ok
google avatar

Kristen P.

Yelp
I had the best dish ever here. The redfish, crab, corn, potato & leek fritters, and biscuit bread service were absolutely amazing. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The drinks were delicious also.

Yelp
We were in Baton Rouge for the weekend and The Gregory looked like a great place for a nice date night dinner. I am so disappointed in this restaurant. I really had high hopes. We ordered a chicken gumbo and the tomato bisque. The bisque required a substantial amount of salt to have any flavor but the gumbo was so salty it was inedible. We moved on to the main course, a bone in pork chop and the filet both we're supposed to be medium. The steak was cooked perfectly and was a decent steak but nothing super special for the price. The pork chop was well done. If you have ever cooked a bone in double chop, you know it is difficult to cook it through. This chop was cooked all the way through. It was tough and I couldn't eat it. They asked if I wanted it remade but by this time I had no confidence in the chef so I said no. So we paid for a pork chop we sent away. The bread pudding dessert was good but for $300 I would have preferred to eat pizza. I do not suggest this location-it is overpriced and hit or miss with flavor and food.

Yelp
My husband and I chose the Watermark because we felt as though it would be the perfect spot to have brunch after my wedding ceremony on Saturday, May 18, 2024. We reserved table with the restaurant, and we were excited about spending such a once in a lifetime, momentous occasion here. If I had to do it over again, the Watermark would be last on my list to share my special day with friends and family. Here are the reasons why: We were early for our reservation and arrived as a group. NONE of us were greeted upon our entrance. We stood around in the lobby, looking for staff or someone to greet us. Finally, my Husband went to the bar and asked who we could see about checking in/seating us. The bar attendant mumbled that someone would be available to help us, and she continued entertaining those at the bar. We continued to wait. My husband asked another server for help, and we were told to just have a seat out in the hotel lobby, and that someone would be there to help us. We were waiting for a while (past our reservation time) but we were still chatting and passing the time. My God-son who is also a photographer suggested that we get a few pictures while we waited. As he took out his camera, he was rudely informed that cameras/pictures were not allowed. He told them that as a professional photographer, he had taken loads of pictures at the Watermark before and inquired about when the policy changed. He then suggested to us that we go outside of the hotel and take the pictures. So, we did. A member of the staff followed us out of the door, loudly saying, "You all can't do that, No Ma'am, you all can't do that." I informed her that we would be spending hundreds in food/drinks for our brunch, but she was not interested in any of that, stating that we should have made reservations to take pictures. Since we were not informed of any of that and were not directed to any of that on the website, we protested slightly. I also commented that I did not want to get into any arguments on my wedding day, and gave up. The time was now after 11am, and we were still not seated. The dining area was not crowded or busy, we were simply not being seated. Finally, we heard-- yall can come on. Not knowing who or where this voice was coming from and assuming that The Gregory would have better customer service training than to yell at guests to be seated, we did not budge. Then a very friendly server by the name of Angela came over, apologized for the way we were being treated, and told us that we were free to take whatever pictures we wanted. She said that she had a talk with someone and that she saw no reason why we could not take pictures. Therefore, we tried again, only to be stopped by another extremely rude staff member, rebuking us for blocking the guests. I commented, WE ARE GUEST TOO. She persisted that we were in the way, blocking traffic (there were not a lot of people in the lobby at all), and those that were in the lobby were complimenting us on how nice we looked and congratulating us. Again, I said, "Thank you," after she forbade us to take pictures, saying that her manager told her to reprimand us again, and I gave up. Thankfully, we did get a few shots...but I really don't want to remember The Watermark as a part of my day because the experience was embarrassing and insensitive! I was treated like an intruder, not a guest. We STILL spent hundreds in food, drinks and tips...ONLY because our family was present and had gone through a great effort to share that day with us. However, I will NOT be returning.

Yelp
Great new menus! Open for breakfast at 6:30 AM, lunch at 11 AM and then dinner starting at 5PM. Happy Hour is from 2PM-7PM every day!

Yelp
10 out of 10. Either your Dining-in or Sitting Bar-side or ordering Takeout, it's a great experience. "The Gregory" is there for you. Customer Services are very helpful. My personal favorite: The Vault Burger--comes with Fries & One Sliced Pickle. Customized and Cooked, how you like. Thank you.

Yelp
The restaurant is in the lobby of the hotel. I'm sure lunch there is great. Dinner not so much. Service was very good. Drinks were excellent. Food was pretty tasty. Just an odd dinner vibe.

Yelp
My only time trying The Gregory was their 2022 thanksgiving lunch and it was outstanding. Tasteful open seating area with a long buffet crowning the atmosphere. The presentation of that afternoon selections was incredible. The appearance of each section thought out with a nice flow from salads , vegetables, to a carving station directed by an incredible nice gentleman. The turkey moist flavorful and the gizzard dressing rich and decadent. The cornbread stuffing the best I've ever had ,sorry mom. After two healthy visits to the buffet I was still able to partake in the most amazing pecan pie. Such pride was taken in each selection, my thanks to an incredible thanksgiving meal.

Yelp
Upscale environment in downtown Baton Rouge. Food, drinks and service are solid. They're good at many things but not great at anything. Definitely a place to try once at a minimum

Yelp
My friends and I came here for the first time for Sunday brunch, and we enjoyed ourselves. The ambiance of The Gregory is really nice and there were very few patrons at 1:30 pm. Jessica, the server/bartender, was extremely sweet and personable. She shared with us her recommendations but three of us ended up ordering the crab cake benedict and one of us ordered the Belgium waffles. Our crab cake benedict was yum with one crab cake on a biscuit but all of our brunch portions felt small. Our friend was not too impressed with the waffles as it seemed overpriced for one waffle, a few strawberries, and a small amount of syrup served in a plastic sauce cup. The French 75 was a generous glass and was decent. The To Peach it's Own was pretty strong - they certainly didn't skimp out on the alcohol! Our main take aways were that 1. The drinking water tasted awful and lemon slices couldn't cover the taste. 2. The brunch portions felt so small that all of us were hungry and went to eat at the Vintage after. 3. We probably wouldn't come back but Jessica was what made brunch for us.

Yelp
We had a reservation to have brunch for my son's birthday. From service to food quality to ambience, I can't recall a worse brunch experience or value. The valet were on their phones watching videos.. My wife waited about 5 minutes to be greeted. The bartender had to call someone from the back to the host stand. We had to wait another 5 plus minutes to be seated. The restaurant did not appear to be busy, but it took 10 minutes to get a Bloody Mary and we waited a substantial amount of time for our entrees. Our server apologized twice (never told us her name). When we finally got our food, our eggs were completely overcooked and the Hollandaise had a film on it from sitting under a heat lamp. We were all finished with our meals before we received our side items (breakfast potatoes) and "to make up for it" we were given two additional orders of potatoes that no one wanted. We were never visited by a manager or chef. My son said he wished we would've gone to Waffle House! It would've been better food, better service, and definitely wouldn't have cost $260.00. At least we can scratch a brunch place off of our list.

Yelp
Absolutely love the atmosphere, staff and food. This is a great dining place for downtown Baton Rouge. Will be returning.

Yelp
The food was very tasty presented well restaurant is super clean service is excellent friendly but I found the prices were a little bit jacked up when compared to other fine steakhouses.

Yelp
I had thanksgiving dinner at The Gregory in Nov. 2020. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and their pandemic safety precautions. At no point did my guests or I feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating. We ordered the Prosecco and he brought out an assortment of juices to make a little mimosa buffet for us. I ordered the mushroom flat and, as a texture person, the taste was not worth the textures I endured. It was overwhelmingly sweet, and I felt like the flavors clashed a little instead of harmonizing together. It wasn't all bad, but if given the chance to go back in time, I would order something different. It was beautiful, though and I loved that the mushrooms came from a local farm!
google avatar

Ali R.

Yelp
Each bite tasted better than the last. Cleaned both of my plates and still wanted to order dessert even though I was stuffed because everything tasted so good. Friendly waitstaff. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely return!
google avatar

angela w.

Yelp
This is a good restaurant typically but it is starting to slip on basics. You should not touch the top of a hamburger bun and it is refrigerator cold, especially when the bread was grilled. They are clearly struggling with meat cooking temperature. I had to return my medium rare burger because it was well done. I also noticed that the guy sitting next to me had to ask for his pork chops to be cooked medium. Tighten up the kitchen please!
google avatar

Jaime T.

Yelp
The hours need to be updated online at the google maps as I used that to tell me they were open until midnight and I arrived 5 mins after 11pm to learn that they had closed already
google avatar

Manny F.

Yelp
While staying at the Watermark had an opportunity to meet in the restaurant for breakfast with several colleagues. Then again we stayed in the lounge/bar area to work while the restaurant is closed. Service was phenomenal and the food was quite tasty. Colleague thoroughly enjoys brussel sprouts and she said they were quite tasty. Had the butcher's block pizza and it was a smorgasbord of meat, pork belly, sausage, ham, etc....
google avatar

Vivy H.

Yelp
Maybe it was an off day, but I won't likely return to restaurant. The bar area and customer service are nice. Ordered gumbo and shrimp poboy. Gumbo was greasy w/ taste of dishwashing liquid. Shrimp PoBoy had a nondescript, watery yellow side sauce leaving plenty to be desired. Their over all menu isn't memorable. So many really good restaurants in Baton Rouge. This place needs to up it ante, quickly!
google avatar

Gage C.

Yelp
I first want to start by thanking Sadé for the exceptional service. We were warmly welcomed when we walked in, and felt right at home. We were checked in with throughout the meal, making us feel very well attended to. The Watermark, and more specifically The Gregory, is a delightful establishment, definitely one you wouldn't mind spending an extended time in. Loved my time here.

Andrea C.

Yelp
We were in Baton Rouge for an event and went walking around early Saturday morning just to see what we could find and we came across this wonderful place. Our server was very sweet and right on top of everything we needed. Loved the decor, but let me say...the avocado toast was the BEST I've ever had, and the potatoes were amazing! Take care of your staff because they are the reason we will be coming back!!

T.J. S.

Yelp
Service was slow, menu was abridged, too expensive for the product you are receiving.

Yelp
Found ourselves with an impromptu date night sans kids and decided on The Gregory. Fancy clothes optional, but we chose to go all out. Made for a romantic and delicious date night/early anniversary celebration for us. This place is the epitome of elegance! We did not get to tour the hotel, but as far as the restaurant level and the floor below (the vault & depository), we browsed around a good bit. I didn't realize the history of this building (and still don't quite know lol), but I got some great pics of the vault and depository area downstairs. That's pretty much all I know is that this building had a vault and depository in it. ‍ Would have been cool if there was a plaque somewhere with more info about the building. Anyway...our waitress, Taylor, rocked. She enjoyed our jokes and joked right back with us. When we told her of the debate as to whether the water glasses were made of glass or plastic, she not so casually reminded my husband that women are always right. Yeah, girl! So...food was perfection and so were the drinks. I went for the Mule, and it was delicious and gave me just enough buzz to last while we were there. We shared the chargrilled oysters, brussel sprouts (could have used more of them yummy things), the duck entree, and then creme brûlée and bread pudding for dessert. Pretty simple menu with not an overwhelming amount of options. Oh and I loved the iPads instead of traditional menus and then the "check book" idea was super clever and fun. So would I recommend? Heck yeah. And we will be back. Comfy seating, great music in the background, fully stocked bar, delicious food, confident and funny waitresses, what more could you want from a restaurant?? Oh and it's across the street from the downtown parking garage that we normally use anyway, so easy peasy parking too.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Amazing craft cocktails and unique menu. Recommend the pizza and burgers. The only issue is ask for fresh fries as sometimes they come out a little like reheated ones. Love the decor of the old bank and the staff are eager and helpful to a fault.

Yelp
This place is so super cute! So shocked we haven't had the chance to check this place out until now, but glad to finally visit! Although this restaurant is smaller in size and inside of a hotel (The Watermark no less), its totally giving me upscale vibes. I absolutely adore the chandeliers that hang above the dining area with the bike chain accents that you might miss if you're not paying close attention to detail. The oversized matchbox is so my cup of tea and the restroom decor is TO DIE FOR! From the communal sink that gives bath vibes, to the wall to ceiling decorative mirror, to the yellow doors with golden handles, its bathroom a girl could get comfy in...and that doesn't happen often! Now to the food and drinks. So I had The Alchemist which is basically some divine version of a mimosa. It has hints of strawberry and a dash of vodka I believe. Try it. Trust me. As for the food. Listen. I got the Marchè flatbread which was divine. The flavor profiles of the yellow beet, with feta, pesto and pea tendrils with honey. Yasssssss. Oh and the crust was perfectly executed. My only gripe was that the chef seemed a lil salt happy. Other than that, perfs. The gentleman had the vault burger and aside from heavy salt, he thought it to be a damn good burger. Lastly, they bring you the check in a book and suggest you leave your signature in the book. I love this last touch. Super cute. I hope to be back soon. PS complimentary valet for the restaurant

Yelp
Celebrated my daughter's 16th bday with a delicious brunch with several of her friends. Terrific food & service. CJ took excellent care of us. Bottomless Mimosas!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I dined here on Valentine's Day and had a great dinner as well as great service! The restaurant decor is high-end and the bathroom is absolutely luxurious. The menu is also on a touch screen and you are able to view photos of everything along with a description. For appetizers we ordered Korean Pork Belly offered on the V-Day menu that totally melted in my mouth and super flavorful. They should definitely consider putting that on the permanent menu tbh. I ordered the duck from the regular menu and my boyfriend ordered braised short rib offered on the V-Day menu. Of course I ended up liking his short rib entree way better and we switched our plates. I do have to say the cocktails we ordered were overpriced at $14, and the taste just didn't justify that. For desserts we ordered a bread pudding and a chocolate mousse cake offered on the regular menu. I absolutely loved the chocolate mousse cake, but the bread pudding was disappointingly average. To end our dinner, our server brought a children's book for us to sign. I forgot what it was for exactly, but it was a cute idea to mark a special occasion!

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere, good service! You'll enjoy your meal. It was a little cold for Christmas.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and everything was really impressive. Had their $15 express lunch and it was great. The young female chef was hot, too.

Yelp
I brought my wife here for our anniversary and we quite enjoyed it. I had the seasonal red snapper and my wife the garden ravioli. Everything came out better than expected. I loved my fish because it had a honey glaze, but the bed of rice it lay on had a little spicy kick. Such a delight, as far as food goes. We had Jeremy as a waiter and he was very on top of it, friendly, and knowledgeable about the dishes. The place was clean and quiet. I would definitely recommend for a night out. Just dress up a little.

Yelp
I stayed at the Watermark and at first I was hesitant to go to this restaurant over others in the city but it was my favorite one! The place is beautifully designed, grey atmospheres, all the servers are so friendly and very attentive! I had the Seersucker Pie & Pork and Oysters, I was in a rush to get to the airport and everything was down in a timely manner. I had a house drink lemonade and whiskey and it was so soft tasting and not strong at all. Favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge!

Yelp
Ok so this is a hotel lobby restaurant literally in the lobby. Getting past that the menu is above others in Baton Rouge. The duck was prepared and seasoned well. The dessert (banana foster bread pudding) was out of this world. Now let's talk about wine. Ordered 25th anniversary stags leap cab. They didn't have it. No problem. They substituted with a stags blend. No problem. Then charged $120 for an Orin Swift bottle. Come on. Left a bad taste. Not very ethical. But it is the house that Huey Long built.

Yelp
The menu looks amazing. The ambiance is quiet and chill. I ordered the grilled mushrooms and blistered shishito peppers to start. The mushrooms were delicious and perfect. The peppers were in need of sea salt. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare for the main, listed on the menu as The Gregory. Unfortunately the cook on the steak was overdone. I wanted to power through it being over cooked, but the cut of the filet was terrible--full of gristle and terribly chewy. The side of wilted spinach had the salt the blistered peppers lacked. It was far too salty to enjoy. The truffle fries were delicious. It's unfortunate on a $50 plate the French fries were the only standout item. All in all, nothing to come back for.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to go to the Gregory for our anniversary dinner. We did an assortment of small plates, which meant that we could sample and share a bunch of interesting things from the kitchen. The crab cakes were to die for -- possibly the best I've ever had. The pork and oysters were similarly scrumptious. And the sensation salad was ... a sensation! Our service was top-notch, and it was nice to have dinner in a hotel restaurant that harkened back to another glamorous time.
