"A friendly Bath pub, more modern in feel but with classic British pub spirit. Great for beers, snacks, and spending hours socializing with friends." - Coolstuff Team

Lovely building and setting. Fantastic friendly and professional staff. Really well priced and high quality food. Had a brilliant evening with friends. We were looked after really well and have absolutely no complaints. Thank you.

Our recent visit to The Griffin Inn left us with a rather lukewarm impression. While the staff were generally helpful and attentive, the food unfortunately didn't quite live up to expectations, especially considering the prices. My wife opted for the ploughman's (£17), which sadly featured a few crackers that were noticeably stale and cheese that had begun to dry out. While there was a generous portion of bread and some ham, the overall offering felt somewhat underwhelming for the cost. I chose the steak and ale pie, served with chunky chips and some greens. The pie itself was decent enough, but again, the price point felt a little steep for what it was. The atmosphere was pleasant enough, although one of the staff members seemed a little weary, though not impolite in any way. Overall, our experience at The Griffin Inn was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. With a few tweaks to the freshness and value of the food, it has the potential to be much better.

Went here on the suggestion of my friend who is local to Caversham. We were immediately acknowledged by the man behind bar, who asked whether we were eating (it was a yes). We were shown to a table and drinks orders were taken, with some laughs on the way. The food was original and the beer was very well kept.|Service was just fabulous, friendly, fast and fun. Lucian was the name of this excellent and energetic person, and I'd like to thank him for looking after us so well.

The Griffin Inn in Bath is a fantastic pub with a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious, with a great selection of wines. I highly recommend trying their Sunday roast. We went for Easter Sunday and it's was amazing.

I had a lovely 3 night stay at the Griffin Inn. The staff were helpful and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable. I ate there one night and the food was delicious. It’s well placed for the centre of Bath and all the main sights. I’m already planning to come back again next year

We booked last minute for Sunday evening, having seen The Griffin is dog friendly. Great choice. Food delicious, beer recommendations spot on. Great staff who made us feel so welcome. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Came for dinner and ordered the smoked haddock linguine. The food was nice however I’ve never been served such a small portion of pasta in a restaurant. It was served in a small cereal bowl and was the size of a starter portion of pasta I’ve had in other restaurants. At £18 this wasn’t acceptable. I’m not sure why they did this with the pasta. Someone at the next table had risotto which was served in a pasta bowl and was a good size. We were very hungry afterwards and went somewhere else for pudding which you don’t want to be doing when going out for dinner. It was a shame as it was a nice place to sit.

The Griffin Inn is a well located pub that offers clean and comfortable accommodation for a decent price. It does have a small bar area and serves food, but due to its proximity to the city centre, you are a bit spoiled for choice in the eating and drinking department. The staff were friendly and great at offering suggestions on where to go and what to do. Felt welcomed when I got back after a long day walking around in Bath, and although it can get busy in the bar, it's not rammed like other pubs might be. Accommodation was comfortable and well serviced each day. My only quibbles were that the shower could have been a bit hotter, and if you can, try and get rooms on the second floor or towards the rear of the pub. Mine faced onto the main road and was above the bar area so could be quite noisy in the evening but a pair of headphones resolved that. Despite that, it was a great base to go out and explore or to rest up and have a chat in the bar. All on all, I'd probably book it again if I'm back in Bath.

Yelp
This review is just for just the restaurant. Service was fine. I went off peak and it wasn't crowded. I was ready for the check for a while but it wasn't egregious. Inside was perfectly pubby. I sat near a window and enjoyed being dry and warm (a winter day made me understand pub culture entirely- you guys are just cold and wet 364 days a year!) The food was fine. I had a pie. It wasnt be best or worst I had. I had hoped for fish and chips but it wasnt on the daily menu. They did have fried halloumi, which covers a multitude of sins. My drink was also good. They seemed fine with people lingering to visit or whatever. Im not sure I would seek it out, but it was perfectly acceptable. Id eat there again.

Yelp
Lovely experience and service in the restaurant. If you have a sweet tooth, the honey ice cream was amazingly good. We'd go back!

Yelp
We spent two nights at the Griffin Inn in September, 2024. We were very impressed with the staff. The room was small, but clean and comfortable with an ensuite bath. The pub downstairs has excellent local ales and the falafel burger was to die for. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We spent one night in the Griffin Inn and the woman working here was wonderful. The room included breakfast in the morning and we had the omelet and poached egg with salmon on a bagel. The food was very good and the room was also very nice and clean. It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely return.

Yelp
Wow! Marvellous hospitality, good beers, and exquisite food. Its most impressive when someone can take just basic ingredients and make something truly memorable. Chef Maria made me a poached egg and roasted tomato for breakfast that blew my mind. The fish and chips is quite good too, as is the selection of beers. As for the inn, I had a good nights rest in an ecclectic old building that's just a little out of a Harry Potter book.

Yelp
"Dinner-jacketed seekers after authentic rural atmosphere"-- I may be slightly misquoting Kingsley Amis in the novel The Green Man here, but I recently confessed to the bartender at the Griffin Inn, an ancient place, that I felt a bit like that as I tried to get oriented to Somerset. She said not to worry, and that if I really wanted the full Monty I should drive 20 miles away to a strange old cider and beer dispensary by the roadside that always looks derelict and closed but where you can go in and pour yourself whatever you want and then just leave the cash on the barrel head when you're done. Honor system since time immemorial. The local dry cider in Somerset is to die for and cheap and abundant, and has all kinds of strange overtones that most people don't appreciate. Maybe like Cotes du Rhone? It was kind of the bartender--she was a pleasant person and strikingly beautiful--to pour me a sample of this stuff, and warn me that it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. I got addicted after I wandered in and succumbed to the siren song of free Wi-Fi in the pub. I love this place and want to stay here next time I'm in the area. Old, special, a bit magical. Friendly regulars. No one bothers you if you want to sit at the bar and read a book.

Yelp
Lovely, charming..small looking corner pub but with a large back room. The barmaid was friendly and knew her beers. And the beers here were amazing, both would probably appear in the 10 best beers I've enjoyed so far this year. The Bristol Beer factory Acer (don't make my mistake - it is pronounced like the playing card, not like your rump) was so good, a truly great beer...and I'm not exaggerating. The Potholer couldn't compare but was still a top top beer. Does accommodation too. Expensive...but staying anywhere in Bath is.

Yelp
I'm not a Bath Regular (Regular Bather?) but the prices at the Griffin for both rooms and food & bev seemed reasonable for the area. It's right off the green behind the Royal Theater easy walk to all the in town sites. The room was clean and comfortable bathroom en suite and with the best water pressure EVER in a B& B. That's the Bed on to the Breakfast. Continental is sitting out waiting for you with several addition hot breakfasts on the menu (all included in the room rate). A great way to fill up before you go touring. There's also a tap room with local brews and evening snackables on order. Cute little courtyard just off the bar. The staff were all very friendly and they play some good rock (at low friendly volume levels) in the pub. I'll definitely be back when next I head to Bath.

Yelp
Reasonably priced rooms and very central location. Providing you get a double room the rooms are nice. The singles are v small. There is room for improvement with finishing touches and creating a more boutique feel. Beds are comfortable however its very noisy and no double glazing traffic is an issue. The bar is ok it has a friendly local feel, the menu is limited but the quality is ok. Overall value for Money in a very good location however the website does make it appear more boutique than it is.

Yelp
This stunning pub has rapidly become one of my favourite haunts in the Bath area. Not only do you get swift, efficient service with a smile, but the range of local ales is extensive and thoughtfully amassed. Every pint is served at a perfect temperature - a rare thing in todays world! The rooms are reasonably priced and I will direct my clients there when they are in the area!
