"A friendly Bath pub, more modern in feel but with classic British pub spirit. Great for beers, snacks, and spending hours socializing with friends." - Coolstuff Team

The Griffin Inn

A cosy pub in Bath Town centre. Had an afternoon of drinks and lovely food. Helpful and professional staff, keen to serve and the pub is beautifully decorated. The food was very good, Handmade Burger, Beef Borgonoff, Egg and Gammon all a winner. For absolute clarity I didn't stay in one of the rooms but it feels unfair to leave no review of the rooms and I am sure they are gorgeous.

Had a fabulous Sunday lunch at the Griffin Inn. The food was well cooked and presented. The staff were helpful and friendly. So glad I booked as they were having to turn walk in's away as they were fully booked.

An ad-hoc visit for lunch with my Mum. Warm welcome from the chap behind the bar. The pub was quiet, it was a Thursday and late on in service but that helped with the relaxed feeling of the location. Who would have thought you were only 5 minutes walk from the city centre. I had pie and chips with Mum having the risotto. The pie was delicious and packed with meat and vegetables - if there had been about 50% more chips then it would have been outstanding, the portion that came on the plate was small for the menu price of £18. Mum said her risotto hit the mark for her. I appreciate it is all about margins in the current climate but if you tweaked those chip portions I would absolutely consider this a regular spot to visit - if you go to The Raven for a pie and chips you'll know that you just feel a little shortchanged on the chip front. Overall, worth considering if you are in the area.

A first class roast! Delicious ingredients, perfectly cooked and great value for money. Excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere, too, in this independent pub. We’ll be back, thank you.

Lovely pub, which was quiet, cosy and friendly. We had 2 courses and the quality of the food was great. Good choice of beer on tap. We would definitely come back

We had been doing some sightseeing in Bath, which turns out to be a wonderful little city. As it was closing in on 2 pm, we decided it was past time for a pint. Looking up, we saw the sign and became immediately intrigued . I mean with a name like Griffin Inn, how could you go wrong? The answer is of course, you couldn't. We had been staying in London and Bath was just a day trip. Pity. When the publican found out we were from Texas, it was like we instantly became celebrities. To say we found this pub to be warm and inviting is a classic understatement. Helped me with my quest to try as many different beers and ales as possible. The down side is that of course i can't get them over here. We are already planning a return trip to the UK and Ireland. Only this time, we're doing the small towns and areas like The Cotswold. I can certainly see a return to the Griffin, this time to stay for a few days.

This little place is a gem cute rooms, great food, great discussions with the locals and the bar staff. It's an old pub that has been done up but don't expect the Hilton, expect something different, and I think better.

Walls paper thin & unfortunately the woman in the next room switched between watching the TV & YouTube/tick tock videos right through the night....I could even hear both sides of a conversation she had with someone on the phone! It was as though in the same room. If seeking any sort of privacy (or sleep) I'd say this is not the place for you. Shame as the room itself was comfy & things like shower were good. Also I decided to dine in the bar (after reading some good reviews) but didn't feel particularly welcome and my meal was pretty mediocre. Such a shame.

Yelp
This review is just for just the restaurant. Service was fine. I went off peak and it wasn't crowded. I was ready for the check for a while but it wasn't egregious. Inside was perfectly pubby. I sat near a window and enjoyed being dry and warm (a winter day made me understand pub culture entirely- you guys are just cold and wet 364 days a year!) The food was fine. I had a pie. It wasnt be best or worst I had. I had hoped for fish and chips but it wasnt on the daily menu. They did have fried halloumi, which covers a multitude of sins. My drink was also good. They seemed fine with people lingering to visit or whatever. Im not sure I would seek it out, but it was perfectly acceptable. Id eat there again.

Yelp
Lovely experience and service in the restaurant. If you have a sweet tooth, the honey ice cream was amazingly good. We'd go back!

Yelp
We spent two nights at the Griffin Inn in September, 2024. We were very impressed with the staff. The room was small, but clean and comfortable with an ensuite bath. The pub downstairs has excellent local ales and the falafel burger was to die for. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We spent one night in the Griffin Inn and the woman working here was wonderful. The room included breakfast in the morning and we had the omelet and poached egg with salmon on a bagel. The food was very good and the room was also very nice and clean. It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely return.

Yelp
Wow! Marvellous hospitality, good beers, and exquisite food. Its most impressive when someone can take just basic ingredients and make something truly memorable. Chef Maria made me a poached egg and roasted tomato for breakfast that blew my mind. The fish and chips is quite good too, as is the selection of beers. As for the inn, I had a good nights rest in an ecclectic old building that's just a little out of a Harry Potter book.

Yelp
"Dinner-jacketed seekers after authentic rural atmosphere"-- I may be slightly misquoting Kingsley Amis in the novel The Green Man here, but I recently confessed to the bartender at the Griffin Inn, an ancient place, that I felt a bit like that as I tried to get oriented to Somerset. She said not to worry, and that if I really wanted the full Monty I should drive 20 miles away to a strange old cider and beer dispensary by the roadside that always looks derelict and closed but where you can go in and pour yourself whatever you want and then just leave the cash on the barrel head when you're done. Honor system since time immemorial. The local dry cider in Somerset is to die for and cheap and abundant, and has all kinds of strange overtones that most people don't appreciate. Maybe like Cotes du Rhone? It was kind of the bartender--she was a pleasant person and strikingly beautiful--to pour me a sample of this stuff, and warn me that it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. I got addicted after I wandered in and succumbed to the siren song of free Wi-Fi in the pub. I love this place and want to stay here next time I'm in the area. Old, special, a bit magical. Friendly regulars. No one bothers you if you want to sit at the bar and read a book.

Yelp
Lovely, charming..small looking corner pub but with a large back room. The barmaid was friendly and knew her beers. And the beers here were amazing, both would probably appear in the 10 best beers I've enjoyed so far this year. The Bristol Beer factory Acer (don't make my mistake - it is pronounced like the playing card, not like your rump) was so good, a truly great beer...and I'm not exaggerating. The Potholer couldn't compare but was still a top top beer. Does accommodation too. Expensive...but staying anywhere in Bath is.

Yelp
I'm not a Bath Regular (Regular Bather?) but the prices at the Griffin for both rooms and food & bev seemed reasonable for the area. It's right off the green behind the Royal Theater easy walk to all the in town sites. The room was clean and comfortable bathroom en suite and with the best water pressure EVER in a B& B. That's the Bed on to the Breakfast. Continental is sitting out waiting for you with several addition hot breakfasts on the menu (all included in the room rate). A great way to fill up before you go touring. There's also a tap room with local brews and evening snackables on order. Cute little courtyard just off the bar. The staff were all very friendly and they play some good rock (at low friendly volume levels) in the pub. I'll definitely be back when next I head to Bath.

Yelp
Reasonably priced rooms and very central location. Providing you get a double room the rooms are nice. The singles are v small. There is room for improvement with finishing touches and creating a more boutique feel. Beds are comfortable however its very noisy and no double glazing traffic is an issue. The bar is ok it has a friendly local feel, the menu is limited but the quality is ok. Overall value for Money in a very good location however the website does make it appear more boutique than it is.

Yelp
This stunning pub has rapidly become one of my favourite haunts in the Bath area. Not only do you get swift, efficient service with a smile, but the range of local ales is extensive and thoughtfully amassed. Every pint is served at a perfect temperature - a rare thing in todays world! The rooms are reasonably priced and I will direct my clients there when they are in the area!
