Google
Good food and a lot of it! The Grill might seem low-key at first glance, but don’t let that fool you—the food is actually really solid. Just make sure you bring your appetite, because the portions are huge. I ordered the cod tacos with mango, zucchini fries, and coleslaw, and I was genuinely impressed. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. I had hoped to mix and match the tacos (one pork and two cod), but they only allow one protein choice per order of three—not a dealbreaker, just something to note. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their meals too. This was the third restaurant we tried for dinner in the Richmond area, and honestly, if you’d shown me all three beforehand, The Grill probably would’ve been my last pick. But surprisingly, it turned out to be the best of the bunch. A pleasant surprise and definitely worth checking out.

Google
Always friendly. The food is good. The wait staff is always super. Prices are very reasonable. If you order tater tots, be hungry or share with a friend. They do need to work on the French toast on the Monte Cristo. It can out a little soggy. Otherwise, they are terrific.

Google
The Grill is a delightful mix of sports bar and American pub food. The portion sizes are no joke - I recommend coming hungry, prepared to share, or just going ahead and asking for that to-go box because you're going to have leftovers. I highly recommend their phenomenal mozzarella triangles! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. There's a variety of seating areas from high tops with great TV views, a pet-friendly outdoor patio with shade on one side and open on the other, booths for more private dining, and a cute little enclosed sunroom. The only downside is that when it's peak basketball/football/college season, parking in the area is a bit rough, but 100% worth it, even if you have to walk a bit.

Google
Not as good as it once was. The grits were unappetizing; some years ago they were the best I ever had. The country ham seem like it had been setting on the grill for hours -- it looked old. And of course the booths, with the vertical backs and hard wood, are are most uncomfortable.

Google
Great, fun place. Good food, drinks, and wonderful service. My first visit was on Mother's Day with my Richmond family. I love the decor especially the large wooden booths you don't see around anymore. I hope to come back and visit again soon! Linda from N Suffolk VA

We were seated at the high-top tables near a large group that was very loud. We asked to be moved to another section that was quieter. The staff immediately moved us. The food and service was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

Google
Really enjoyed the location. Food was really good and the service was really nice. Try the Monte Cristo it’s amazing! The raspberry sauce was tangy and a perfect compliment to the maple syrup.

Margaret Craig

Google
We ordered the Monte Cristo, Caesar salad, and chicken tenders and they were all good. My son is super picky about his tenders and he ate a huge plate of them. The service was fast and friendly. We had our doggo with us on the porch. He was also treated very well.

Yelp
Neighborhood vibe, awesome bar food, great staff. Gets a little noisy at times, but hey, it's a popular watering hole and food spot. Even when it's slammed, service is still attentive and food comes out quickly. Hit it up next time you're in the area and are hungry and thirsty.

Yelp
The Grill is a nice place to grab a meal or a drink. We were seated immediately and saw a lot we'd like to order. (I'll point out now that although we didn't order it the menu described some pretty impressive breakfast fare so we may be checking it out for brunch soon.) Wife ordered a lamb gyro and fries. The lamb had a nice flavor but instead of strips of meat like the gyros we would normally order this was ground meat. Didn't affect the flavor but the texture was a little hard to get used to. Tzatziki was excellent. Fries were average. I ordered a southwest chicken sandwich, which had guac and fried jalapenos and tomato along with a blackened chicken breast. Flavors again were very good. But this sandwich is a hot mess. Everything slides away from everything else making it a struggle to eat and keep a clean shirt. Sandwich made two meals. Side Caesar was good. Iced tea was good, beer was cold. A nice stop.

Yelp
12/10! Hands down amazing! Everything was immaculate! My main focus was on how clean the place and the vibe I got when I walked in. Friendly staff the whole 9

Yelp
We have been here several times over the past few years and the food never disappoints! My personal fav is the buffalo chicken wraps and the fried shrimp basket! The service is always friendly but it is difficult getting their attention. Sometimes if it's not that busy there is a lot of down time and to their defense we did sit on the indoor patio further away. The vibe is nice good music and there's plenty of space throughout the restaurant. I've seen it packed out and slow, nonetheless always a place we come back too when we are in town!

Yelp
A-mazing!! We had an appt at St. Mary's hospital and this was right around the corner. We had lunch around 1:30. The service from seating, ordering, food delivery to check was not only fast, but so very friendly! Everyone seemed genuinely happy to have us there. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. I consider myself a hard critic of the Cuban sandwich - it is rare that American run joints get it right. But, oh my glory! It was legit!! I haven't had one that good since Miami over 10 years ago! The Grill is laid out nice with low tables, high tops and booths. There is also seating outside. I was tempted to try one of their cocktails (looked yummy), but alas, I was driving. 2 Cubans with sides and drinks with a generous tip about $40 bucks. Worth every penny! We have a few appointments ahead of us and I have found my absolute go to after each one! Highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
Good food, good & quick service. Had some wings, a large salad and the shrimp po boy. All were delicious. They have a decent drink list with a number of local brews. Great neighborhood place. Will definitely be back'

Yelp
My husband and I love the grill! We live about a 10 minute drive away and we wish we were closer! Its great for both breakfast and dinner, lots of different options but everything is good. Also great prices. Its significantly bigger on the inside than it looks. Service is always good every time.

Yelp
Been on my list for a whileeeee and I'm glad I stopped by ! The portions they have here are amazing ! And the prices aren't too bad either ! Great little spot for a drink or a good meal. There are some options for vegetarians and also a little veggie section on the menu itself ! I chose something outside of that without meats and it was delicious ! Drink options were good and vast ! The waitress kinda went MIA a few times but came when we needed her so she must know the vibes ! Very good overall. Just a little loud.

Yelp
The food here is just AWESOME, tasty, quality, filling and affordable, the place is cute and the service is kind. Can't really talk enough on how really good is the food, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Simple meals like tacos and mac and cheese are so delicious, can't imagine the more expensive plates!

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. I have probably been here 5 or 6 times and the food is always delicious. They have plenty of tables inside and out and the customer service is really good. I have tried the buffalo chicken wrap, the rueben, and the burger and all of them were delicious.

Yelp
Philly cheesesteak was bomb. Got it with the whiz- sorry I don't know how to order proper Philly-like. Awesome service. Decent coleslaw. Great place to watch the game- we enjoyed a high top on the front patio.
google avatar

Joy B.

Yelp
Great place to catch a sports game! There are many tvs. Loud/bar ambiance- but that's what watching the game with friends is about, right?! Excellent wait staff, attentive manager who visibly was supporting the waiters/hostess. High quality food, beautifully plated! Upscale Corned Beef Hash- used to dumped out of a can, warm and serve - not here, green peppers and more were added! I don't even like the standard version, THIS I'll reorder!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious! I had the black bean burger entree with oh so yummy Brussels sprouts with light and crispy onion rings. We sat in a cozy booth towards closed in porch.
google avatar

Menghai T.

Yelp
Got the Buffalo chicken wrap with tater tots. That tots were very good. The wrap was also really good loved the Buffalo sauce. Wish it was a little bit bigger and had some blue cheese inside , but nonetheless it was still good. Service staff was nice and quick. The floor was a little sticky. But the total atmosphere was really enjoyable for a Saturday night dinner! Would come here again. Also parking is street parking or in the back which is nice!

Yelp
Some friends mentioned that this was their favorite spot in town and I was able to join them for a Sunday brunch, and I can now totally see why it's their favorite! We sat inside, where there were a few tv's on the wall, but the outside was super cute and I would love to sit out there one day. My friends recommended getting a flavored sweet tea, so I enjoyed a raspberry sweet tea which wasn't overly sweet compared to some teas I've had. We all wanted breakfast and I had the sweet goods, which gives your your choice of pancakes, Belgian waffles, or French toast, two eggs any style, choice of meat, and choice of side. Naturally I had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were so delicious. The serving size was also huge and I was able to make two meals out it with my leftovers! So glad I found this place and already have told several coworkers that they should check it out as well.

Yelp
We organized a ladies brunch this past Saturday. 7 of us made it there and we enjoyed ourselves! The ambience was great and we were able to get a massive table with ease. The server was so nice and patient as we excitedly ordered drinks and brunch food. The drinks were SUPER cute and they had a nice variety so everyone could find something that fit their taste. It started out as a gloomy day outside, and though it was still drizzling when we walked out, the food (portions are HUGE - everyone took leftovers home!), the service, the vibe, the drinks all made this a great place for an event. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Food was great and our service was spot on! I had the sandwich and my girl got the burger. Fries were nice and crispy and the sandwich was really filling. The calamari app was good too.

Yelp
Came here with the fiancé today and I'm so glad we decided to try this place out. The vibe here is definitely more like a sports bar than a restaurant, but not in a bad way. Our server was really nice and did a great job at getting our order right and keeping our drinks full. We ordered nachos to start and added beans. The nachos were very good, I think beans should automatically come on them instead of a $2 up charge. I ordered the oyster po boy and loved it. I also got onion rings as a side and loved those. My fiancé got the dirty Caesar salad and added shrimp to it. She said the salad was underwhelming, and after I tasted it I would have to agree. The dressing is mediocre. She also added shrimp to the salad and the shrimp were very very bad. No seasoning, no sear, no flavor. Looked like cocktail shrimp and felt like eating rubber. We will definitely be back because the breakfast menu here looks delicious. I'd recommend this place but I'd warn people to stay away from the salad and especially the shrimp, especially since they upcharge you $8 to add shrimp that tastes terrible.

Yelp
Our favorite spot in all of Richmond. Consistently great food and service in an upbeat atmosphere. We've been there well over 100 times and have left every time with full bellies, leftovers and thankfulness that such a great place still exists.

Yelp
Ended up at the Grill because our favorite spot was closed this morning. The staff was kind enough to clean a table top outside that had just been vacated and to bring a booster for my child. We hadn't been seated for 30 seconds when a waitress came and asked if we needed menus (duh). I ordered water and coffee, we only got the water and had to ask for the coffee again. Ordered a short stack for my kid with breakfast potatoes and bacon. 2 eggs over easy with toast and bacon for myself. Food came quickly but was nothing more than what I could make at home. Bad on was very salty. The whole wheat toast was nice and eggs cooked perfectly. The breakfast at potatoes were gross as were the pancakes my kid got.

Yelp
Love this place! I've been here a few times and it's always on par. I went last week and they actually opened up next door and expanded, which I thought was great! More tables spaced out. Food: I've ordered a lot of things in the past but most recently I ordered the cheesesteak! It was SO good! I also ordered off the cocktail menu and had a seasonal drink that was like a mulled cider and it was delicious! Overall, great casual, laid-back spot.

Yelp
Looking for a late night meal for the family and we settled on The Grill. Ordered by phone around 10pm on a Thursday so the person answering the phone had to first make sure the kitchen wasn't closed. We decided to order several dishes. The woman I spoke to was very patient as I made sure I got each order right. When we arrived our food was ready so we were able to walk in and walk out. Upon tasting the food, my first reaction was S A L T. The calamari and everything else breaded was so salty that it was not tolerable. Each of us took a taste of it and never ate another bite. I personally decided to go with the meatball sub because I was opting for the safe option. It was what you expected from a meatball sub. The only downside is that the bread was not toasted which allowed the sauce to soak in. It's never a pleasant experience to have to eat soggy bread. I wound up eventually putting it in the oven to toast the bread. My son had ordered the calamari and luckily I ordered the chicken tenders as a backup just in case someone didn't like their dish. Dipping the tenders in the barbecue sauce helped cut through the salt. After dipping, he thought the tenders were tasty and a solid order. My daughter had the meatball penne pasta and she felt it lacked flavor. The star of the show was the shrimp po' boy. My wife and my son shared it and both commented that it was pretty tasty. Other than the saltiness of a few items, the meal was decent. I feel like I would return because I can't imagine that the food is usually that salty based on the reviews. I figured our order was one of the last meals cooked that evening and maybe they used some old grease or something just went wrong.

Yelp
I attended the 6th annual oyster festival at The Grill. The place was packed. There was a good variety of music from bluegrass to rock. Tangier Island oysters roasted and steamed were excellent. The BBQ and coleslaw were great. Not many places get coleslaw right but The Grill does. Beans, tater tots, and chips were good too. Wish we could have sat down and ordered. I saw some fries with cheese and other appealing items that looked and smelled so good.!They do have happy hour specials. Will have to come back on a normal day and try some of their other dishes and mixed drinks. They do have a nice bar. This was a great event.

Yelp
Great food and service! Highly recommend- it's one of my boyfriends favorite places to eat in Richmond! Everyone someone come I. To town does a quick visit he wants them to meet us here for a meal

Yelp
It's a casual little diner with a nice bar, they have the absolute best Southwest Chicken sandwich! Oh and Zucchini fries are awesome too!!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this small hole in the wall that's just your average neighborhood watering hole. The main thing that will keep us coming back for more (besides the awesome staff, we thick sandwiches, and great beer menu) is THE PEANUT BUTTER PIE! Don't sleep... on the peanut butter pie. That thing is next level. @onlyfoodsfans on Instagram

Yelp
This was our first time at The Grill. We went in with a party of 6 around 8:15 on a Sunday evening and they had a table large enough to accommodate us. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We ordered our meals and they mad it to our table in a very short time. Everything was super tasty! We will definitely go back.

Yelp
Woo burger week is here!! So at the Grill they didn't lost the burger week burg on the menu, make sure to ask for it! It's a pimento cheese burger, 2 patties and onions on Texas toast. It was really really good. The portion is huge and I ended up eating it as an open face Sammie because it was a bit big for me, but over all fantastic! I'd been to the grill other times don't remember the past things I've gotten but I'm sure they were great. Their beers are also great priced and very cold! Try out this burger though! Oh and the fries they give are the best kind of fries haha

Yelp
Greetings to all of you wonderful people on this wonderful app. The day is the 10th of December and we are in the heart of Christmas spirit. It is my best buddies birthday and we went here to get a tasty meal. It was very scrumptious but at the end I asked to sing the happy birthday song and the waiter said no. I was stunned and astonished by the response and my best buddie Jackson was very sad. Let's do better.

Pamela H.

Yelp
Drinks were very good. The sailor sandwich was awesome but the zucchini fries are over the top!!! I even took leftover ones home and they were just as tasty reheating in the oven. The servings are plenty large enough to share. The servers were friendly and nice. Going to go back for more zucchini fries!

Yelp
On yesterday I was on the hunt for a place that served brunch that was new to me. Upon a highly recommended suggestion, I ended up at The Grill, a West End establishment that had a number of glowing online reviews. But how did my experience go? To find out, read below. The Good: Service- I thoroughly enjoyed the service. The server was knowledgeable about the menu, was very helpful in answering questions and making special accommodations and the food came in pretty quickly. The Not So Good: Taste- I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak which came with a side of fries. As you can tell from the picture, the fries were somewhat overcooked and had no seasoning to them whatsoever. The Cheesesteak meat was a little on the dry side and could have used a tad bit more salt. Price/Portion- The total of my meal was $12. I could have gotten a tastier Philly Cheesesteak with a larger side of seasoned fries from Sub Central for $4 cheaper. Overall- for it to be my first time, I cant reiterate how impressed I was with the service. I could definitely see myself going back to this restaurant and perhaps giving another menu item a chance. But overall, good service, OK food. THREE STARS.

Yelp
Takeout Buffalo Dry-Rubbed Wings. These were pretty good. I usually get the Buffalo chicken wrap which is really delicious. This restaurant is all around solid for classic American food. They also have good deals on pitchers and I definitely recommend their alcoholic limeades.

Yelp
Tried this place after I had my baby and I missed the hospital "dinner" and I didn't want the usual fast food restaurants in the area. This place is about 5 mins from at Mary's. We got our food to go but we got the nachos which were full and had a lot of meat. Then I got wings and macaroni that was good, then my boyfriend got a Buffalo wrap and macaroni and he also said it was good. I definitely will come again so glad we tried this place !

Yelp
We are locals and we come here all the time. The food is always good, waiters are very friendly -- and there is usually no wait. We went there for brunch yesterday (awesome brunch here - offered til 3pm each day). We ordered special of Oreo pancakes- 2 fluffy large pancakes w Oreo in batter and Oreo butter on top. Delicious! It also came w eggs and home fries or grits for $10.95. Very generous. I got my favorite -waffles and it was good! my husband got turkey melt which was average but the house cut French fries are awesome. Perfectly fried; and we usually get a side of siracha ranch for dipping. Ooooo love it! We had a lot of leftovers. Definitely satisfied. only $42 after tax for three is a good deal for the quality / quantity. We did not order alcohol this time, but their $10 mimosa is a must try as well. This place usually has unique specials, like shrimp boil and oysters. We wouldn't say the Grill is a destination restaurant, but if you are in the neighborhood looking for a low key, consistently good experience, you cannot go wrong here.

Boz B.

Yelp
We love the Grill and eat brunch there every time we visit Richmond. Food is delicious and portion size is very generous. It is impossible to order the chicken tenders and not get a doggy bag. The breakfast items are delicious too. Never had an issue or problem with the meals here. A good solid choice for a meal and you can't go wrong here

Yelp
Dudes! They have 18oz Coors light here! Wth! I have never seen one so I ordered 2, they were freaking ice cold. The mountains were blue! So I was pleasantly surprised to see they sell tangier oysters by the bag or half dozen. I just said F it, "lets do a half dozen" oh and throw in a order of mac and cheese bites. The service was quick and boy were they good! The oysters were super fresh and the mac and cheese bites were crispy on the outside and creamy in the inside. What a great lunch! I'll be back!

Yelp
Great establishment with a laid back vibe. I came on vacation to watch the World Cup game at 9 in the morning, and this was one of the few places open near Glen Allen, VA. Although the access to the game is what drew me in, the food did not disappoint! I got the breakfast special of the day. Breakfast bowl with black beans, cheddar, onions, beepers, bacon, avocado, and home fries paired with a cup of coffee. Need something other than coffee to pick you up, have no fear, they have a full bar, breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. (Also pictured are the churro waffles my husband had). Music selection was on point and the staff was attentive. My cup never emptied and my meal came out quickly. Thank you The Grill for a great breakfast to start off my day...and the opportunity to watch the World Cup game.

Yelp
Good luck getting anything before 3pm. Was told that no main item (chicken quesadilla) is available before 3pm but everything else is. After another 5min wait after choosing a burger I'm told it's not available till 3pm even though it's not a main item and burgers are available NO WHERE on the menu does it fn say this. What it does say is lunch and dinner is available until 10pm but nothing about a start time. Horrible business practice!!

Yelp
Such a great and fun bar with awesome bar food! We always get their chicken tenders and fries that are soo good. My mom and her best friends go every Wednesday and have the best time there! They are always playing a sports network on the TV. They modified their restaurant a lot for COVID so there is indoor and outdoor seating and only a certain amount of people at a table at a time.

T G.

Yelp
Every visit we are reminded of how good everything is at the Grill. Highly recommend the wings and burger!

Yelp
I was scheduled for surgery at St Marys Hospital the next morning, and we were staying at the Rhineheart Guesthouse. We were from out of town, arrived fairly late, and decided to find a place to eat close by.. We chose The Grill, and we had a nice walk, maybe a couple blocks to get there. The Grill was very casual. It was dimly lit, and several sections seemed to be for bar areas (inside and outside on the deck), and there were wooden booths and casual tables. The waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We both got the pasta. My friend got chicken, and I got shrimp. We both thought it was utterly delicious. The spices were perfect, and the large serving was enough for 2 good-sized meals. We did take leftovers back to the Guesthouse to put in the refrigerator. So I felt like we got our money's worth. It was very good and I have been to a lot of good restaurants.

Yelp
I came here for Richmond Burger Week, and was not disappointed! The burger week deal consisted of The Grill's California Burger. The California Burger was a big burger (i.e. lots of meat), and it came with avocado as well as a fried egg. It was very messy to eat, but super delicious (I particularly appreciated the toasted bun). Every bite was super juicy and delectable. Since the burger week deal only cost $5, I didn't expect the fries that normally accompanied the burger to still be served, yet I still got fries, and plenty of them! There are two options for fries: regular and fresh cut. The fresh cut are slightly less crispy, but they come with potato skin intact, which gives them a nice color/texture. I also ordered a bowl of seafood chowder, which was great. It looked like there were a bunch of other great menu items, so I wouldn't mind returning to check those out. My waitress was super friendly, and the restaurant was cozy and lively. I sat in a pretty comfortable booth. ;) Probably the only setback to this restaurant is finding street parking.

Debby J.

Yelp
I have been eating at The Grill for at least 5 years. I always love the grilled shrimp. The fried zucchini is excellent. After the pandemic their prices increased and no more special on steamed shrimp. Ok I get that. They stopped using the fries they had, because it took too long they said. I was there for breakfast last week. They now charge 3% extra if you use a credit card. I'm surprised they are doing this. I can certainly get cash before going, but I thought this was going too far. Never heard of this! I Also and check in with the waitress about what goes with the Omelet, she mentioned grits apples and potatoes. Then she also said we have fruit. I took the fruit and was charged $2 extra for the fruit. I got a Western omelet only water I did get the side of fruit and with the tax and the 3% and the tip my breakfast was $25 some odd cents. They may have lost my business.

Yelp
Awesome Bloody Marys and brunch menu! Atmosphere was fine for any age and the service was quick, even during a busy time.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast , lunch or dinner . They have a great HAPPY HOUR ... Place looks small from the outside but opens up once you get inside . They have a large enough menu to cover everyone's tastebuds . I've had great food here .
