The Grove Hotel – Spa and Golf

Good points: I had a nice welcome from the doorman, who held the car door open for me. All other staff were equally as pleasant and efficient. We were in the Glass house restaurant. Plenty of different foods to choose from. It was nice to be able to taste food I had not tried before. Not so good points: Considering the price I would have expected table cloths Tables were too close together, and it was difficult to get in and out. Also, no privacy. Canteen atmosphere.

Still an overall great experience at The Grove - despite difficult weather conditions - and our kids getting slightly older at 9yo and 12yo. Archery was a well managed activity. As was the cycling. And food / restaurants / service were all excellent. We also had a great 18holes of golf on the wonderful (and easy to navigate!) course. Special thanks to Carlos, Ellis and the team who went the extra mile to accommodate our group!

Amazing facilities! Everything remains modern, clean and well kempt. The adult spa facilities are beautiful. The steam room is male / female only found in the relevant locker rooms. But the steam room and jacuzzi is shared. All great facilities. Kids pool is separate on the other side of the hotel. Once again, amazing little place for kids. It's not big but it has a baby pool and a fair sized pool for them to splash around. Rooms are lovely and beds soft and well kept. Bar, cocktails and restaurant are an absolute MUST. Amazing with great options. However the room mini bar.....I did have to laugh when the prize for a 'airplane' bottle of vodka was £10 and a packet of crisps something silly like £4.50. With what you paid for the room - what are you after here? However.... It's a 5 star from me. And having been here several times now - I've been impressed every single time.

Beautiful Christmas experience at The Grove. Although you pay a steep price, the staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The bed was comfy and room temperature coud be adjusted. They had Nespresso machine in the rooms which suited me so well, given there are no cafes for miles around. The breakfast is an experience and is inclusive. Cooked breakfast with every kind of eggs (Royale, Devilled, scrambled) , meat , Turkish you name it. The waiters would even remember your table and your preferences! Christmas eve was the best experience around the fire-pit with carol singers, mulled wine and hot chocolate. Toasted cheese and marshmallows and stroking reindeer. Loved Santa's grotto the next day too. Anytime access to the gym, pool and steam rooms was great. They have 2 cinemas running in the evenings and stroll in their vast spaces is refreshing. The library could be quiter.

We stayed at this hotel with high expectations given the price, but overall it didn’t quite meet them. At £600 per night, we were expecting a more consistently high-end experience.|There were some really nice elements to the stay. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the fire pit with toasted marshmallows was a lovely touch and something we genuinely enjoyed.||That said, a few things let the experience down. On arrival, the doorman didn’t make us feel particularly welcome, which wasn’t the best first impression. In the room, the dressing gowns had holes, which was disappointing, and while the children’s in-room games were a nice idea, the fact that they were an extra charge and that some didn’t work properly took away from the experience.||The hotel clearly has potential and some great features, but for the price paid, we felt the attention to detail could have been better. Overall, it was a pleasant stay in parts, but didn’t quite feel like good value for money.

Oh dear! It used to be lovely to walk around the grounds, check out the art and grab a hot drink to celebrate winter. Living locally we have no need to stay overnight but still liked to enjoy the food and atmosphere and we were welcomed to do so. We have even previously booked activities and spa days. But we think we will give it is miss now. We came up for a walk and some hot drinks with friends on the weekend and were treated terribly as we weren't staying over night. Went to the bar and there was no greeting when you entered so we took a seat and proceeded to take off our coats only then to be told we wouldn't be served. We were however allowed in the Stables. Felt a bit like Jesus and since it was near Christmas we didn't mind. Hiked up to the Stables in the frost and ice, again no greeting so we waited only to be told to sit anywhere. Ordered some hot chocolates and they were terrible. Cold and no chocolate taste, no marshmellows or cream or anything. You could really do a great proper hot chocolate for the amount that is charged and it would be in keeping with the Grove name, well the Grove reputation of a few years ago. If you can afford to just focus on your clients staying at the hotel and keep good profit margins great it is just such a shame you alienate the local community to do so. We won't be back for our annual winter walk and hot chocolate anymore. End of an era.

We recently booked a few days’ stay at The Grove and left feeling somewhat perplexed. The hotel clearly has the foundations to be excellent, but unfortunately falls short in execution and attention to detail. Even before arrival, securing a reservation for the Sunday brunch required a surprising amount of persistence, which felt unnecessary given the hotel’s focus on golf and weekend dining. Eventually, with the help of Magda from the reservations team, we were able to book for two adults and one child. Check-in itself was handled very well by Magdalena, who was welcoming, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the facilities, golf, and spa before showing us to our room. However, this positive start was quickly overshadowed when our luggage took 54 minutes to arrive. Travelling with a 5-month-old, this left us without essential items and resulted in a very stressful situation. We had to call twice and go down in person to stress the urgency. Once settled, the room unfortunately felt tired and heavily used. The carpets clearly required slippers, decorative cushions and blankets didn’t appear freshly cleaned, and were quickly stored away. The bathroom continued this theme: loose tiles, dirty grout, a missing lid on the bath salt holder, and wall-mounted toiletries that felt out of place in a supposed five-star hotel, particularly awkward to access when using the bath. The yellowing anti-slip mat also looked unhygienic and poorly maintained. Dinner in one of the Blue Bars was enjoyable and fairly priced, especially compared to central London. Breakfast the following morning was good overall, with well-executed pastries. However, orange juice from concentrate and coffee from a vending machine were major letdowns. To be fair, once we queried the coffee, we were informed that barista-style coffee was available, which was significantly better. The golf course itself was excellent—beautifully maintained and a pleasure to play. However, the post-round club cleaning service was offered, accepted, and then simply not done, which was baffling and disappointing. The grounds are lovely, with great walking paths and child-friendly activities. However, the spa and surrounding corridors felt dated and poorly maintained, with chipped paint, ceiling issues suggesting leaks, and corridors that were often dirty with used coffee cups left unattended. The spa itself mirrored the rest of the hotel: tired, overused, and in urgent need of renovation. The overcrowded steam room and overt presence of “paying members” created an atmosphere that felt more revenue-driven than luxurious. Room service was acceptable, but the delivery tray was not cleared until the following morning, again highlighting a lack of attention to detail. The Sunday brunch/buffet lunch was genuinely good, with a wide variety of well-prepared dishes and good value. The service staff were warm and enthusiastic, though some refinement and training would elevate the experience further. Overall, The Grove offers excellent golf, beautiful grounds, good food, and friendly staff. However, the rooms and spa are in serious need of updating, and many areas of the hotel feel closer to a tired four-star property than a true five-star experience. We would consider returning if significant renovations were underway. Otherwise, for a genuine five-star stay outside of London , we would recommend Cliveden, Coworth Park, Estelle Manor, Four Seasons Hampshire, or The Belmont in Oxfordshire.

Just been for an amazing afternoon experience at The Grove Hotel at 'Lounges'. Just perfect in every way from the atmosphere to the setting to the food. Sandwiches and designer cakes were a joy to behold. The food was so plentiful we have come home with some to enjoy at our leisure. The harp music was amazing and so calming. A big shout out to Karen, our Server, who made our afternoon tea experience so special . Nothing was too much trouble for her. She served us with grace and dignity. A truly wonderful experience and a great way to celebrate a 75th birthday and our golden wedding. Certainly a day to remember.

Here for a business dinner at a restaurant there called Madhu's at the grove. Beautiful resort with nice grounds. Great little bar for drinks and dinner was Outstanding. We went with the chefs tasting menu and it was spectacular.

Absolutely lovely experience! This was a great countryside getaway. I stayed here for a work trip and would come back as a guest. The staff was very kind. The grounds are beautifully kept and great for walking around. The restaurants on property are beautifully designed and super yummy!

This is THE TREAT of a night out. Lovely food. You might see someone famous especially if you know your Football players and American Football players.

This is rated a 5 star hotel. After my stay here, I would say that is close, but not exactly a 5 star. To go more in detail.... this review was based on a rather lengthy stay, something out of the ordinary for a normal hotel stay and a "real" test of how good a hotel is. The longer the stay, the more you notice the little intricacies and problems that you might not normally see in a short stay. I stayed at the Grove for 2 months due to a work situation. Below is how I would rate the various parts of my stay: The Grounds: Beautiful. Definitely the best part of staying here. Being a big city person and staying at a hotel with lovely greenery and wilderness surrounding was a nice change. Location: A bit of a disappointment. There is not much close you can do if you don't have a car or are willing to pay for an uber taxi. It would be nice if there were some restaurants nearby within walking distance that weren't part of the hotel. Internet: Horrible, slow, and sheer frustration. When trying to do anything that needs internet speed (watching a movie, playing a game, and sometimes even browsing the net), you will be surely disappointed by the slowness and frequent disconnecting from the internet wifi. Plugging a cable directly into the ethernet port in the wall changes nothing, as the speed often is even more slow than the wifi. Reception often told me that it would be fixed. I stayed there 2 months and it never was. For a 5 star hotel, that is unacceptable. Facilities: Excellent, with some minor downsides. The gym and indoor pool are great benefits of staying. However, the hours of operation are often are pain. Most people will go to the gym very early or very late. Unfortunately, the gym just doesn't open early enough or stay open late enough to compensate that if you are working while staying here. Same with the pool (and honestly I don't really understand why teenage lifeguards are necessary for a pool that is not even deep enough to drown in). Pricing on Hotel Luxuries/Food: Way overboard. Meals are insanely priced, pretty much anywhere you go. Drinks at the bar will rob you blind. I guess this is part of the 5 star experience. I had the lovely experience of someone charging drinks to my room without my signature and it went straight to my credit card. Had I not caught it and complained I would have never noticed. Housekeeping: Great, but sometimes borderline annoyance. Personal items being moved around everyday when I keep moving them back... Items lost when I left my hotel room for a day, with the hotel insisting they don't have it. Overall, worth the stay.... probably best if it is a shorter one and not so long. But you should expect to break the bank if you do.

Been here on numerous occasions for family celebrations. We always eat in the Glasshouse restaurant as it's in a great setting with great food, but very unpretentious. The selection of food is always great, the sushi bar being a highlight. The dessert always go down well too and there's something different every time.

Crkey - where do you start? It is impossible to tie down the experience of The Grove. Is it a five star hotel spa? Is it a championship playing golf course? Is it a fine dining experience? Is it a set of beautiful country gardens? In fact it is all of these and much much more. The England football team don't train here because they scrimp on the style and feel. We have eaten at one of the three restaurants on a few occasions and it is always good for a bit of star spotting. The Glasshouse is the least showy of the three - an all you can eat buffet experience with simply the most stunning starters and deserts. The selection of main courses (game, fish etc) are also very good but probably the supporting act rather than the star. Drinks are expensive - an antidote to the fairly priced meals - but staff are attentive and friendly at all times. Have also popped by with visitors for afternoon tea on the terrace to watch the golfers go by. Again, lovely stylish grounds and reasonable prices on the drinks and cakes. Most certainly a venue if you want something different. The perfect break from London, but still close to London.

Came for the founders forum. The grounds are stunning! Couldn't have chosen a better venue for this!

I have been here several times for various meetings and events and to enjoy the facilities and have a loyalty card. I must say the pool is a great place to relax and unwind-no chlorine but salty. The jacuzzi is a full room and an unusual design. The Grove is set in a huge golf course complex and is the host of many sporting events so don't be surprised to see many celebs here. But it doesn't come cheap-I took my in laws here for the 40th wedding anniversary in one of the restaurants and while the staff were helpful I didn't think the cost merited the quality of food on offer so was a bit disappointed.

Ate in the Glasshouse. Really good quality food. Wife loved the desserts. £35 eat as much as you like. Drinks are really expensive.

not the cheapest place, but as the old saying goes you get what you pay for. excellent ground. lots of things to keep kids happy and good for romantic weekends.

Didnt know this would be on here, but we went here for our works Christmas do (i know ages ago, but still) We had the lunch time buffet in the GlassHouse and it was lovely. Service was great and the food was delicicous. The noodle area, or oriental bar was lovely with fresh cooked food and you could make up what you wanted really. Was expensive, but was deffinately worth it. The staff were all lovely and could not do enough for you.

The quality and service that the Grove hotel provide are unreal they have a hand made beach, bikes to rent out to ride around the complex and enjoy the golf course the food is great definately worth its money.
