Our visit to the Habitat and evening walk inside it, was on 27June2025. I have mixed reviews for my experience, but generally dissapointed and short of my expectations. Our experience at The Habitat was both wonderful (for the exploration & views) & horrific (dark, unsafe, unguarded during the evening) 🤑💸 For Rm60 for entrance + rm18 for evening walk (per pax), this place is poorly managed in terms of customers safety & expectations. That explains why there were very few visitors entering here at that hour.(I am unsure for the other times of the day of other days) 👻 Evening around 7.45pm, for about 10 mins walk out to the exit, with no one else in sight, just darkness (a few small little lights on the side walk), the jungle and its sounds, it was scary & spooky. Only saw more lights when we reahed the Langur way canopy walk. 👎 Some areas were badly maintained & lighting was really bad. Probably they want to ensure the area is kept wild and dark for the animals' natural habitat, that is understandable. 😰 However, there should have staff at checkpoints along the way to ensure visitors' safety & assurance that they are on the right path. 👽 When we finally arrive at the entrance, the staff hut (ticketing place) was dark, empty & we saw the huge gate was closed! Suddenly a tall dark man appeared & we though he was another visitor or a guard who will tell us that we are at the wrong place for exit! To our relief, he was indeed a staff or a person guarding the gat& he opened the gate for us. 🤩 Alhamdulillah, we made it out safely. I was a bit shake. At this point, I would not recommend paying extra for the evening walk, unless there is a good crowd of visitors and proper guide along the way by the staff on duty.

The place is stunning! You can easily spend there the whole day simply enjoying the nature. And that’s what it was mean for. There’re benches to rest, there’re water refilling free stations, and there’re stunning views! Also, you may be lucky to observe monkeys, as they live they’re and have a trail thought the park. Grab your water bottle, and come spend at least a few hours just wandering around. Foreigner adult ticket is MYR 60 and it surely worth it!

The Habitat sits on top of Penang Hill, which is 800 meters above sea level. It’s considerably cooler than ground level and very pleasant to walk around. The park has a suspended bridge and a skywalk. At the highest point, one can see as far as Langkawi island. The various colonial era buildings are all within view and their historical story are told by information boards placed around the skywalk. The park is full of luxuriant trees and vines and bushes. Just walk in it let me feel relax and refreshed. We see a black squirrel at the exit.

I visited The Habitat Penang Hill on 11 June 2025, and it was truly a memorable experience. Our guide, Daniel, was not only knowledgeable but also deeply passionate about the rainforest and its hidden wonders. One of the highlights of the tour was when Daniel showed us a live ghost scorpion right there on the spot. It was incredible to witness such a rare and elusive species up close—something I never expected to see in person. He explained how it was discovered and what makes it so unique, turning a simple walk through the forest into an eye-opening learning experience. Daniel also shared his personal journey of how he became part of the team at The Habitat. His story, filled with dedication to nature and conservation, was genuinely inspiring and added a personal touch to the tour. Overall, this visit was more than just sightseeing—it was an experience that deepened my appreciation for Malaysia’s rich biodiversity.

A lovely nature reserve nestled in the Foothills of Penang. There is a funicular that takes you up to the top. The ride is expensive and not part of the Habitat ticket but there is no other option The Habitat itself is amazing with a nice 45min to 1hr walk through the forests with a lot of biodiversity There is a Tree Top skybridge in the middle of the walk which offers amazing 360 degree views of the Island. Also showcases the past British era history on how the place was used as a observation point for incoming ships. There are drinking water outlets every few meters which is an amazing thought We could not get a chance to see a few other attractions within the habitat but there are many more things to do. There is also a free buggy to take you back from the end of the trail to the funicular station Definitely recommended

Had an amazing time at The Habitat Penang Hill! The Tree Top Walk was absolutely breathtaking—standing at the highest point in Penang with 360-degree panoramic views was unforgettable. The Canopy Walk was another highlight, letting me stroll above the rainforest and really take in the beauty of the surroundings. Both walks felt safe, well-maintained, and offered unique perspectives of Penang’s ancient rainforest. It may seem a bit pricey at first, but the experience is totally worth the money for the views and the serenity. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Penang Hill!

The Habitat, located on Penang Hill, is a UNESCO-certified biosphere reserve that preserves the island's ancient rainforest ecosystem. It offers a peaceful escape from the city, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in nature. The entire park is well-maintained with clean, safe walking trails and informative signboards that introduce the rich flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest. If you're lucky, you might even spot wild monkeys swinging through the trees — a delightful surprise! One of the highlights is the Canopy Walk and Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the forest, and on clear days, even catch a glimpse of the ocean in the distance. At the end of the trail, a free shuttle service conveniently brings visitors back to the funicular station, making the journey smooth and comfortable. Overall, The Habitat offers an enriching, relaxing, and educational experience — perfect for families, couples, or solo nature lovers.
