Where to Stay in Istanbul When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I appreciated The Halich Hotel Istanbul Karaköy’s sleek four-star rooms decorated with large-scale drawings of Istanbul landmarks, the epic views from the rooftop restaurant and rooms, and the helpful staff (including the hotel cat); all rooms have air conditioning, a mini-fridge, a flatscreen TV, and a safe." - Matthew Kepnes

The 5 Best Hotels in Istanbul

"This four-star hotel offers sleek, bright rooms with epic views over the city and a rooftop terrace where breakfast is served every morning so you can take in the panorama; the rooftop becomes a bar in the evening and is worth visiting for the view. The breakfast buffet has a lot of variety, and the rooms are cheery with large-scale drawings of important Istanbul landmarks on the walls; each room also includes air conditioning, a desk, a minifridge, an electric kettle, a flatscreen TV, and a safety deposit box. The bathrooms are a bit dated but have wide vanities for spreading out your things. The staff are exceptionally helpful, and there’s even a friendly hotel cat that gives the place a homey feel. The location is excellent — close to the ferry linking you to the historic sights and within walking distance of the atmospheric streets of Galata." - Matthew Kepnes

In my short 7 day stay at Istanbul, I stayed at the halich hotel. Here's my experience 👇 1. First off, the hotel is located in karakoy which is in the city center so you can travel easily to major tourist attractions in minutes. Plus, the hotel is at a walkikg distance from the metro station and has a beautiful park nearby by the water, overlooking the blue mosque. (Great for spending time at night) 2. The hotel rooms, bathrooms, breakfast were perfect 3. The hotel staff, especially Mr. Mustafa was extremely hospitable and polite. We only booked the hotel for 2 nights at first. When we wanted to extend our stay and the hotel rooms were full, they accomodated us in another hotel without any hastle. 4. Free breakfast! We asked them to kindly add in the breakfast in our package and they did! Which was amazing Overall, I had a great time in the hotel and would highly recommend staying in the Halich hotel when you go to Istanbul!

Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. We were initially given a room with a broken bathroom. When we requested a room change, we were moved to a standard room of a lower category and lower price. Despite the downgrade not being our choice, the hotel refused to refund the price difference. This situation was handled unprofessionally and does not reflect good hospitality standards. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

I love this hotel. This is my second time staying here. It’s centrally located, the breakfast is amazing, and the staff are always friendly to me. On my second return to this hotel the staff members remembered me when they saw my name in the system and prepared a small fruit platter for me in my room upon my arrival! Told me they were happy to see me again:-)

What a beautiful place !! I was with my parents and my sister and we enjoyed the Halish Hotel ! Room were luxurious, near the Galata Tower, so the good place to be. Thanks a lot for the service which was incredible, especially Arda and his manager (i lost his name sorry..). The manager at the reception advised us on tours of the island, which were the best restaurants in Istanbul... we didn't even need a guide! Thanks to him, to Arda and to the service! I advise everyone to discover this beautiful place which is now part of our future visits to Istanbul ;) See you ! A friend From Paris (Mr. Jacobsen)

Great hotel in a great location. It's close to bus stops, karakoy pier the metro, etc, so it's easy to get around. It's about 45 minutes walk to mosques Hagi Sophia and the blue mosque along with topkapi palace. It's only a 10-minute walk to the Galata tower and less than an hour to Dolmabahce Palace and taksim. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The wifi is excellent with pleasant staff. The only downpoint is that the restraunt was closed.

Great location as it's very near the metro as well as the Bosphorus river. Views from room were great! Breakfast, at the sister restaurant, whilst own restaurant was being renovated, was decent and a good variety of dishes. Some of the facilities needed a bit of attention - slow draining shower, toilet sounded like it needed replacing and room can get hot as AC wasn't working. Being on the main road, traffic noise wasn't as bad as we feared, but you do hear the morning prayer calls (great for me!) and there was an annoying dog barking nearby, for most of our 2nd night, which can't be helped. However it's a great value hotel all things considered and service is very good! The hotel cat is gorgeous!
