Stayed here on Friday. I received a very warm and genuine welcome at reception. Every staff member that I met was smiling, warm and pleasant. My room was excellent, in terms of size, decor and facilities. This is a great hotel and I will definitely be back.

A RAVE HOTEL FOR RAGERS. Horrible place. So loud! The room was shaking with noise and screams until 1:30am. We had just driven for 6 hours and had to start again in the morning. No noise insulation, rude staff. Asked for a partial refund as our sleep was so disrupted, they said they usually tell people how loud it is but they never told us when we booked (over the phone). Lady just shrugged her shoulders and offered free parking for 8 pounds. We had 2x rooms at 150 per night. Crazily bad service.

No spa, but they do have a gym/fitness suite. Hopefully, Google can correct the misleading information in this listing. Bed mattress bit soft but I suppose that's more a personal preference. My room was OK, clean although a bit drafty - to be expected in old properties that are still working out how to minimise their environmental impact.

This place is spot on, great value for money, amazing space for 2 couples. Well stocked kitchen. Spotlessly clean. Really attentive staff. Great location. Only issue we have had the both times we have stayed is that it is too hot in the rooms. I really hope they think of investing in air-conditioning as it makes it an uncomfortable sleep, fans are provided, along with everything else that you could possibly need, but unfortunately these are insufficient to solving the issue with the stuffy warm rooms.

My first visit to The Halston for afternoon tea to celebrate two friends big birthdays. We'd pre booked and reserved a table a while ago, as it's very popular. We were at the Bartons Yard part of the hotel. Entrance was via reception to ensure that those people having afternoon tea were not disturbed by hotel and bar footfall. The staff were superb and very helpful. They were also very thorough, ensuring there were no allergies. It was a Festive themed afternoon tea. We started with finger sandwiches and soup, followed by sweet and savoury mini treats. Tea and coffee were included, with fizz as an optional extra. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ample offerings. The presentation and attention to detail were exquisite. We finished off with drinks in the hotels Penny Blue Restaurant. I would definitely consider attending again. If there's a member of your group with allergies or the menu is just not their bag, discuss other options so you don't feel as though you have to miss out. You will be accommodated. There are good facilities at the hotel, and it's accessible. There's a car park next to the hotel £1 per hour, pay on departure, so no clock watching. The hotel is also only a few minutes' walk from the bus station, railway station and various routes bus stops.

Having lived in Carlisle a good while I know that The Halston is a cut above but today I evidenced that exceptional service in action and how grateful am I that Dee on front desk is the embodiment of all that is great. She saved what had been a dreadful day caused by the loss of my mobile phone earlier today. I figured out if it was anywhere it was either The Halston or Sainsburys so with little hope I headed off to The Halston car park with a torch in the forlorn hope I would somehow discover it. No chance but I went to the check in desk and it was my very own miracle at Christmas care of Dee. Thank you for not only spotting it laid on the tarmac asking to get squashed but for rescuing it..attempting to contact me..my error and for all your goodness and kindness. I am eternally grateful and thank you so so much Dee. Great values and service not just words but rolemodelled by Dee.

Didnt regret our choice to stay here. This is best hotel we stayed during whole trip in UK. Good service, many perks and amenities, close with station and many places around
