The Handknitting Association of Iceland

Visited this location in October 2025. This place has a ton of fiber of various types for purchase. If you’re not into doing the craft and creation yourself, they have a nice selection of sweaters, hats, headbands, mittens and more that their members have made available for purchase. Of course, had to grab some Icelandic yarn with my wife for her next project. The team providing service here were very kind and happy to answer any questions we had. Would absolutely visit again if in the area.

I came here twice in two days and bought yarn for two projects. Great prices and I wish I could come back again. I also bought two of their shopping bags which will make great project bags. My husband was so patient. ❤️ Lots of sweaters for sale for those who don’t knit.

Very cozy inside. If you are looking for hand-made Icelandic wool attire (such as an Icelandic sweater, Lopapeysa), they have several color and design options. They also have adorable wool Christmas ornaments and troll dolls, amongst various other items. If you enjoy knitting, they do have a wall in the back of the store with spools of Icelandic wool in a vast variety of colors. The shopkeepers were very kind in helping find some spools to bring home for my sister, who is ecstatic about making some matching beanies for her and her partner with them. Highly recommend checking this store out if you are looking for quality, functional keepsakes from your time in Reykjavik and Iceland.

I was not at the shop, but ordered online from the United States. I ordered the Friða Anniversary Sweater and I must say it is absolutely MAGNIFICENT! The pattern, the colors, the workmanship are exquisite! Sending to the US involves significant tariffs now, much more than I had anticipated but it was worth every penny! This is a sweater you can own for a lifetime!

This is the place to go if you want an authentic hand knitted Icelandic sweater and to support local knitters. Such a wonderful business model, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

If you want handknit, high quality wool items this is your shop. From sweaters to hats/headbands, felted elves, small knit Christmas ornaments, wool for knitting and more, I enjoyed my visit and spent more than I should have! lol Not sorry!! Between my sister and I we bought two sweaters plus had one on order being custom made for her and smaller items like lava teardrop earrings. They are shipping it to us in the USA as the items are bulky. The women running the shop were quite kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!

This is a small shop that was crowded every time we went. It seems you get what you pay for though and the sweaters were beautiful and well made. They have both handknit and locally manufactured items so something for all wallet sizes.

Absolutely beautiful selection of sweaters and knit goods but very pricey. Yarn quite reasonable and got a bunch!
