Maybe it was an off day, but our experience at The Hangar was not the best and I wish we just walked away before we placed an order before spending almost $80 (two entrees, two beers, 1 kids meal, tip). Food was good, views were nice, service was lacking).
We came to The Hangar for lunch as someone had recommended it to us since our original plans to go to Deckhand Dave's fell through as they were closed.
When we got to The Hangar they had several people waiting for their table and the host was letting everyone know that it was about a 5 minute wait. Not bad. So I went in, told them it was a party of 3 and was told it was 10 minutes and to stay close by. Sure. Stood out of the entrance way waiting for our turn and I noticed that people were walking up and were being seated. Another woman with her partner and an older child came up to inquire about putting their name down and the host was about to seat them until they looked up and saw me looking straight at them so they let them know that "oh looks like there's one more group ahead of you" and sat us at the table. Maybe I should've let that family sit there instead...
The inside of the hangar as two levels and large windows looking out into the water. We were able to see the cruise ships, sea planes, mountains, snow - the view did not disappoint. The inside has some larger model planes hanging from the ceiling that my son loved looking at.
The host gave us some menus when we were sat and got a kid's menu and some crayons for our son. The menus had a beer list via QR code so we checked that out and decided on some beers, as well as food items for us and our toddler: my husband and I were both going to get the trio baja tacos (chicken, halibut, and fried shrimp), and a cheeseburger and fries for the kid. It took a while for someone to acknowledge us to the point of suggesting we leave. Finally our waitress came by and dropped off waters. When she finally came back she asked if wanted drinks: when we pulled up the beer list from our phones she let us know that they had just changed the beer list and went to grab a physical beer list. I ended up getting a Winter Ale and my husband had asked for a taster of a beer. We also let her know we were ready to order our food, too. She left and went to put our order in. The bartender poured the taster and placed it on the counter and our waitress continued to be on the computer. A runner had already dropped off my beer at that point. She had finally dropped off the sampler and my husband liked it and wanted to order a glass of it, but after waiting around our waitress didn't return to our table. Our food was delivered, so my husband ended up going to the bar and placing his beer order. More than halfway through our lunch our waitress came by and dropped off another sampler of beer at our table, but my husband told her he had already placed an order and asked for our check. She dropped it off and we paid cash and left.
Our order was tasty. Out of the tacos my favorite was the shrimp - it had a nice crunch from the batter, breading, and fry. My husband liked the halibut more. The pickled onion gave a nice taste and texture to the dish. I definitely loaded my shrimp taco with all of the pickled onions.
We didn't catch our server's name - I didn't hear her say it and I didn't ask for it or see a name tag. We witnessed a few interactions of hers where she came off as rude and as if she didn't want to be there. We get it - the service industry can sometimes be rough especially when it's been a long and busy day dealing with tourist, but man. I wish we spent our time and money elsewhere.
