Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Belfast, Northern Ireland

"It’s all in the name at The Harrison Chambers of Distinction, where owner Melanie Harris has created an offbeat, unique hotel in the leafy Queens Quarter. The Harrison is perfect for design aficionados—each room favors rich color palettes, vintage furniture, and wonderfully forward wallpaper."

We had a wonderful stay at the Harrison Hotel. We were upgraded to the Ruby Murray suite which was a lovely surprise and so relaxing and comfortable. We were looking for car parking in Belfast so happened to come across their website and how lucky were we. The location is near the beautiful Botanical Gardens and Queens University and is within a comfortable walk to the city, but the bus stops outside the door and the hotel arrange taxis quite easy. What can we say about Melanie and her staff. Every member was so welcoming, facilitating and truly hospitable. It has to be one of the most unique and quirkiest places we have ever stayed in. The breakfast was amazing and for us we were delighted with the choice - fruit, breads, fresh pastries, yogurt compote, eggs, porridge, pancakes etc. No television in the rooms but that didn't bother us. Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous few days and we would definitely recommend this hotel.

What a fantastic place to stay! I'd originally booked at a nearby corporate chain but when I saw pix of the Harrison and its yummy breakfast I changed my reservation to here. Melanie and her staff are wonderful and warm and I immediately felt welcomed and taken care of. My room was comfortable and had a very spacious bathroom with a rain shower. I really loved the fun and quirky character of the decor throughout the hotel, too, including an animal theme of lamps, salt shakers, and paintings. The breakfast was delicious and fresh, with seasonal fruit, tea in a cute little house-shaped teapot, cook to order eggs, local cheese, and fresh-made croissants, among many other choices. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes walk from Queen's University, the Botanic Gardens, and the Ulster Museum. There are many restaurants with world cuisines along nearby Botanic Ave as well as delicious Irish food at Molly's Yard, Holohans, and the Post House. Belfast isn't a huge city so you could easily walk to many points of interest if you had a bit of time and good walking shoes. I highly recommend the Harrison as a base for explorations of Belfast and the nearby areas.

A delightful place to stay. The Queens University is a 5 to 10 minute walk away, so this was extremely convenient for a conference I was attending. The room had comfy bed, a strong, hot and easy to operate shower, a desk, and a kettle with fresh coffee and tea that is restocked daily.||The breakfast spread was full of freshly made, local foods. In addition to a selection of yogurt, croissants, breads and cheeses, there are cooked to order eggs, pancakes, porridge, and more. Like the distinctive rooms, the dining lounge is full of charm and character. There was live music in the evenings.||The staff are very welcoming, attentive, and accommodating. When we had a 7 AM start one day, they opened the breakfast service early so that we could eat. In addition to restaurant recommendations, they shared stories of Belfast's history and notable personages with us. Since I didn't have time for much tourism during my trip, the history shared was enlightening and helped me better understand the city.

We loved the Harrison! Treated ourselves to the Valentine Rennie suite for our anniversary. A stunning room! The hotel is quirky and beautifully decorated with something interesting round every corner. The bar turns out to be a lovely venue for some cool events eg a chilled jazz vinyl night that ended our Friday night out in Belfast perfectly! Such a friendly personal fun place with a great breakfast too!

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. We loved the crazy decor and the wonderful welcome from hostess Melanie. Ryan at the front desk was also outstanding with her enthusiasm and helpful recommendations. The breakfasts were superb. This place is centrally located very close to Queens University. We stayed in the CS Lewis room which was absolutely lovely. One of my favorite aspects of this hotel was the “wardrobe” with her coat hanging that you have to go through to get to the breakfast room. Another very helpful aspect of this hotel is the secure and free parking lot behind the building. If we ever return to Belfast, we will stay here. In the meantime, I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who comes to this wonderful city to visit.
