9 Best Walking Tours in Boston (Updated 2025)

"On this 70-minute Harvard tour I got an insider look at the university: founded in 1636 and the oldest in the country, Harvard’s tour is led by current students so you learn both about its long past and what student life is like today; tours start from about $22 USD." - Matthew Kepnes

Excellent Tour! Andrés, our tour guide, was friendly and funny. He told us so many things about the history of Harvard, famous Harvardians and about recent student life. Entertaining and informative at the same time. It was a hot day and he tried to keep the group in the shade. Such a great tour with the best tour guide you could wish for!! Thanks a lot!!

Adam our guide was fabulous. We were a small group so he could spend a little more time at each spot. Adam was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. We learnt a lot more about Harvard and its culture and the history. I highly recommend this tour with students as they have first hand knowledge.

We had a lovely guide but the overall experience felt a bit like a rip off. Due to the combination of our Guide's ID not working and the Thanksgiving long weekend we couldn't go inside a single building. The guide did a great job of giving us the Harvard 101 but a lot I already knew so found I probably would have been better going around on my own or with the app. I was told this is a must-do in Boston but I find the lack of public access to Harvard means it's not actually a great experience exploring vs other universities.

Loved the Harvard and the MIT Tours , both professionally done , but the MIT tour stands out ! Special thanks to our very energetic and funny student guide Reuben ! He made the experience amazing and kids are super excited about considering MIT now ! It’s was so cool that we got to go inside the buildings ! I recommend this tour to everyone!

The weather wasn't very kind to us on the day of the tour with strong winds and rain but our student tour guide, Frida, handled it like a pro! Despite having to compete with the wind and the whole tour being outside, she projected her voice well and was easy to hear the whole way through. We thought it'd be inside for at least some of it but later found out Harvard do not allow this for security reasons. Frida shared some fascinating insights about the history and traditions, was happy to answer any questions and definitely deserves a pay rise for powering through those conditions!
