My niece was interested in anatomy, so having found Body Worlds has an exhibit in the Health Museum, we made our way there. Many years ago, I attended Body Worlds elsewhere, so I was excited to show my family what I saw. The exhibit was half the size of the one that I saw many years ago. I was shocked by how small this exhibit was. It was disappointing despite all the cool anatomical displays. There's organs, blood vessel tracks, diseases, and artificial joints. Beyond Body Worlds, there was an interactive permanent exhibit where you can understand how different organs work. We especially love the sound booth and were competing to see who was the loudest. For $12, the experience was more than worthwhile. While I expected more from Body Worlds, I would encourage anyone to attend this one still.

Nice visit at the Health Museum in Houston! It’s a great spot for families, especially with kids. The exhibits are interactive and educational — lots of fun learning opportunities through hands-on games and displays. The visit took me about an hour, and while it’s not a huge museum, it’s definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for a family-friendly activity in Houston.

Google
While it's a smaller museum, you can easily spend two hours here. The employees are very helpful and friendly. My son loved interacting with all the exhibits. The beating heart is really cool and we loved crawling through the large intestine. Parking is super convenient and only costs $5 if you have a museum membership. Don't skip the gift shop if you love anatomy!

Google
We went during their "free" hours, so there were lots of people. If we had arrived a few hours sooner, we would have paid for the special exhibit. We arrived 45 minutes before closing, and we were out 15 minutes before closing. The attendant at the desk was very helpful. Tip: For free day, get your tickets online and have them ready to scan. When you enter, it will save you a few minutes.

Google
Great option for the kids! Make sure you visit on theirs days for free but request tickets in advance on the webpage!

Google
This is NOT a museum. We went in July and the only thing admission covers is one room with interactive displays of different body parts/functions ( although some weren’t working) and a side room with an art installation of plastic that has been recycled to make animals. There are two “special exhibits “ that cost extra to see.

Google
I love how informative this museum is while being very interactive as well. I believe there was a party going on but still, it didn’t feel too crowded & there wasn’t much wait to do things.

Google
Amazing museum!!! $8 to park then which is absolutely worth it! Tickets are inexpensive and there was so much cool stuff to look at. The giant beating heart was mesmerizing. We will be going back!

Yelp
This museum is wonderful ! A great place to learn and take your kids to teach them how important it is to take care of your body ! I don't think we realize how important it is to be healthy !!! Very interesting and informative!!! They have this you can engage in , like bike riding , heart walk , heart show and others . Check out my pics below -$12 entry or lone star $3 entry. Bring a l

Yelp
This was a fun museum it seems that they used real body parts to show you healthy & cancerous organs/tissue. There were also many interactive stations to teach you how your brain & senses work! I went with my family & we loved it! There were also some art exhibits which gave it some diversity

Yelp
What an awesome experience, all the displays had me in awe,We learned a lot about the human body, we got see a lot more, great for family day.

Yelp
This museum is definitely one for the whole family to enjoy. My 10 year old had a blast and honestly so did I. My favorite features were the brain challenges, the experiment lab and the giant pac man game. There are a lot of hands on activities to do here and again I feel like there are opportunities available for all ages. Now, be aware the theatre located inside where dissections happen does cost and so does a reservation to participate in the experiment lab. You can purchase tickets at the front counter near entrance or purchase via QR code online. I hope to return soon and explore some more. Happy Yelping!

Yelp
Good place to come for CME. Not as good on a Thursday free afternoon unless you have kids. Super crowded on a recent weekday visit. Used to love coming here with the family when my kids were young. Who knows? Maybe it helped spark their interest in science. Now it's....Twenty years of exhibits that need a facelift. For younger families, it is a nice hands on museum to learn about the body. Go explore the heart, lungs, nervous system. My kids loved watching the live organ dissections back in the day. The DeBakey Cell lab is also quite a unique experience. My favorite special exhibit was Body as a Work of Art: More Than Skin Deep. So interesting to see microscopic images of cells turned into fabric to create patterns turned into dresses. So unique. Currently, Mindworks:The US Premiere is on display. Think about what it takes to make decisions. What do we dream? Explore your feelings and emotions at this hands-on installation. A great place now to go for CME and a museum my kids loved to explore growing up. Note: They do honor reciprocal museum passes. Paid parking available or just park at the park across the street for free.

Yelp
My 9 year old wanted to return after a field trip last school year, so we went on a Tuesday morning at opening before heading home from a fall break trip. It was a perfect 1.5-2 hour attraction for the 9 year old kids. The 12 year old was less impressed. The exhibits were interactive and engaging but it's fairly small, and priced accordingly.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an incredibly well constructed science museum in the Museum District filled with fascinating displays of wondrous health discoveries. There are many interactive displays that are totally immersive. Wear comfortable shoes and stay awhile. These pics aren't from a recent visit. However, throughout my many visits one thing remains true, it never disappoints. Families of all ages will enjoy this museum.
google avatar

Janet N.

Yelp
It is very educational and hands on. My kids had fun learning about different parts of the body. I wished they have a little more to do. It is small but educational.

Sherill M.

Yelp
We drove from Katy about an hour here. Kids super excited for something different. Parked and paid. When we got inside the museum informed us that almost everything was closed for maintenance and there was 1 thing to see. Uh okay, so it's free for the inconvenience? Nope. It's full price admission for the family. The audacity of this place. That should have been communicated online. Nobody's paying $ to walk around a closed, dead, ghost town. We walked right out of the door and over to the children's museum, which was lively as ever. We won't be back.

Yelp
This museum is such a delight! My family had a great time. There was a big exhibition on hard drugs which I appreciate. I love to explain and expose my young kids to this topic so that they can be aware of the dangers, and to teach them to make right choices. I liked it that they provided vital information like the Houston community outreach for the masses because not everyone knew about it. There were interactive activities and brain teasers around for kids and adults to play with. There was a lab for kids to do hands-on activities which you had to purchase a ticket for it. Ticket for entry into the lab isn't part of the general admission ticket. Today there was an event at the museum whereby the back of the museum and the theater were out of bounds. This was a bummer. There isn't a proper cafeteria in the museum. There are only two vending machines and two tables with chairs outside the restrooms. It is best to pack snacks for kids. There is paid parking in front of the museum. However free parking is available at Hermann Park. It is only a 2mins walk from the Hermann Park parking lot to the museum.

Yelp
My visit to the Health Museum was an engaging and educational experience that's particularly well-suited for families with young children. I came on a Thursday when admission is entirely free from 2 pm to 7 pm. The museum stands out for its interactive approach to learning. It's a place where you don't just view exhibits but actively participate in them. This hands-on aspect is especially appealing for young visitors and families. I recommend the Health Museum to families with children aged 12 and under. Come and check it out for yourself and bring your young ones along for an unforgettable experience. My 1-year-old had a blast!
google avatar

Yelp
Fun activity for kids of all ages. The brain teasers are a real challenge! Thursday afternoons free admission.
google avatar

Naomi H.

Yelp
I came with the family so I think it was worth it for the kids but to me as an adult and even more as a health care provider I thought they would be more into actual education but it was just ok it had some activities for the kids and you could stretch your stay here for an hour if you're detailed but in reality this is about a 20-30 min stroll I guess I would come on Thursday when is free because even though the price isn't high still I felt a bit robbed, anyway my kids enjoyed it and it was enough for me.
google avatar

Walter M.

Yelp
This is a relatively small museum with some great exhibits and an affordable entrance cost. I particularly liked the exhibits about drug abuse. There are pictures and displays from the originating countries to the cities in the USA. It would be an educational event for children as young as 8 or 10 (see pictures).

Yelp
The Health Museum left more to be desired. (1) Compared to the Children's Museum or many of the other museums in Houston, it was only 1 floor of exhibits - could run through the facility in 30 min. Although the price is reasonable - $10 for adults $8 for kids - other places offer more bang for the buck (2) We went on a weekday and it was disappointing that the laboratory and activities centers were closed in the summer My kids did enjoy the interactive exhibits at the Museum - the bike, hamster wheel, colon tunnel, and monkey bar did keep the kids engaged for a few minutes.
google avatar

Aurora N.

Yelp
So first off it should be renamed the Children's Health Museum. It was definitely not what I was expecting and unfortunately I did not have little kids with me so it was not a great experience. I'm not happy to have paid $10 for my quick visit. It was very strange in that they had mostly kid exhibits and a big play area but then they had this in depth display of how a baby is born?? They also had a huge Covid death exhibit that was just a ton of pictures of people who died during covid- not very kid friendly and also not educational. And I must not forget the ridiculous exhibit on giant glass corn cobs- yeah you scratching your head too?? I wasn't sure why this was in the health museum and not an art museum... very strange. It took up a ton of space and again- not very educational. They did have a small part about polio vaccines and an iron lung which was cool to see. In my opinion the only good part of the museum. We were only there for an hour and that included looking in the gift shop. However I do recommend the gift shop- it had a lot of really cool stuff and I bought a couple gifts. Also the ladies at the front and in the gift shop were very nice and helpful.

Yelp
This is a fun museum to explore. It is also very educational and geared toward children.

Yelp
I loved it! Wholesome, educational, and fun for families or anyone else who enjoys life :)

Yelp
I love going to museums, so this was on point for me with the pandemic going on. A few items are replicated from other museums, but I still enjoyed. Free parking across the street for the first 3hrs, I visited on a Saturday, so check the hrs. The cost was $10 to visit the museum. They do have the Blue Star for military free entry, but they stopped due to CoVid. This museum is for all, I actually learned a few things myself. Its interactive so take hand sanitizer if you decide to use the touch pads. Not a large museum but a great place to spend spends a few hrs or take your kids. Facility was clean, and I did see some sanitizer for public use. I wasn't busy when I went, which was a plus for me!
google avatar

Karen 2.

Yelp
probably the worst museum ive ever visited. poor choice in the displays. disappointed overall and would not recommend to anybody. atleast was free.
google avatar

Suzanne J.

Yelp
Not sure what to say. This museum Is a waste of money. Half the interactive stuff didn't work. Even if it did wouldn't be worth it.
google avatar

Yajaira E.

Yelp
Amazing and very cool exhibits, everything was so informative. This place is great if you want to learn more about the anatomy of the body etc.
google avatar

Farh E.

Yelp
This is place is definitely more geared towards kids so I think it is a great place for families! I came with my mom in hopes of it being more informative but it was more focused towards children. We did enjoy the area that spoke about the viruses and plagues that happened over the years. However most of the activities are for children but they all looked like they were having a great time! It was only ten dollars each ticket and there is parking right in front of the museum for only five dollars. The museum is based on the first floor! Will recommend to my friends with kiddos :)
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
Pros: Great children's museum, there are tons of tactile play area. Awesome place to take a child and awaken their love for science!! The entrance is affordable! Cons: it's a children's museum, take hand sanitizer!
google avatar

Nikki J.

Yelp
Cool museum! If you've been to the smithsonian science museum in DC, a few areas are replicated. I enjoyed learning about some big health pandemics, diseases & trailblazers. The museum its self is not big. I love the brain teasers at the end! that kept me busy for at least an hour trying to figure them out.

Vickie F.

Yelp
It is a perfect venue for kids through teens. The main hall has several "puzzle stations" for most ages, including adults, that are quite challenging! Educational themes apparently rotate - the theme on this visit was about the drug epidemic - facts and warnings about illegal drugs, plus related displays. The room with the large and colorful organ mock-ups was fun to explore. There are apparently other hands-on activities kids can sign up for. The museum also has a gift shop. I highly recommend for kids of all ages.
google avatar

Rosalind C.

Yelp
I didn't think it would be so small.. yes i said it. Im sure others were thinking it. I came on a Thursday which was a free day so im no major complaints. A good activity for small kids and family.
google avatar

Fallon L.

Yelp
Had lots of fun here. I came during a Yelp event, and my family and I had a wonderful time. The exhibits were amazing and quite interactive. I loved the movie room as well, as that was a different touch from the norm. I would say there's definitely something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. My son and I are sci-fy lovers and lowkey nerds, so we were like kids in a candy store in their gift shop. Pleenty of birthday/Christmas gift ideas for all ages that makes learning fun or just some great gag gifts as well. Do visit as you will not be disappointed. :D
google avatar

Yelp
This event was great. Congratulations to the brand new CEO and president to the Houston Health Museum. I love the topic that they target. Body is a work of art. Love yourself as you were created to be. I really like how they had "It doesn't Matter" sewn inside the body suits that was created by the wife of the owner. To assist to build confidence in those whom have insecurities about themselves and who may have been Buillied. Amazing message. Catering by Eddie V's. Was FANTASTIC. the steak sliders were great. The Shrimp was Every guest Favorite. And that MAC and cheese, YES PLEASE! Tr

Yelp
We decided to try free things that Houston has to offer. One of them was the Thursday afternoons for free at the museum. $8.00 parking on the premises wasn't bad at all. The gift shop was hilarious with their microbe plushies. There were three adults and 4 kids from 3-14. Every single one of us enjoyed the lung demonstration, the eye, the brain, the heart, the colon and the ear. That was all on one section that was open. There were brain teasing games as well. We had a blast. Wanting to see more, we then realized that the rest of the museum was blocked off. That's not mentioned anywhere when the word "free" is in use as we request tickets. It would've been wonderful to have had that info beforehand. So, anyone wanting to take advantage of free things in Houston, I'm letting you know it's not completely open. While we will go back and pay to see the whole museum, I'm going to try and save anyone from the disappointment that we felt. The kids; however, had a fantastic time.

Yelp
I really like this museum, and my husband and I recently got a membership to The Health Museum. It's really reasonably priced, and they have the most experiential art-type exhibits compared to other museums. Regardless of age, this is a fun museum. We took my brother-in-law, who has CP, to the museum, and he enjoyed how his disability didn't keep him from enjoying and learning at the museum. Even my husband and I were entranced by the "puzzles" and "brain games." At one point, I even yelped (I had to) when I surprised myself by solving a brain puzzle in under 2 minutes! Needless to say, it's a great space that can be shared by all minds regardless of developmental level. What a gem in Houston's museum district.
google avatar

Thomas S.

Yelp
A great place for kids and adults to learn while having fun. My family went specifically for the dyslexia and Covid-19 exhibits. Both exhibits were very educational. Personal experiences presented by recorded oral tapes from actual peoples diagnosied with dyslexia was excellent. There were were pictures of hundreds of Houstonians that lost their fights with Covid-19, very sad. There were also excellent presentations of various types of transmissable diseases. The fee was $10 for adult. I didn't ask for the kid fee since none was with us. Free 3 hours public parking across the street.
google avatar

Ema P.

Yelp
This museum is actually pretty cool. More so the fact that I never knew it existed! I like the life life life larger than life size diagrams and pictures and statues and fixtures. Very neat. I went to the area where you could test your sense of smell and everything was very very accurate. That was pretty cool. I believe it was fresh cut grass, cinnamon, roses, lemon, and something else... I don't remember... Oh yeah! Barbecue... LOL can't forget the food! ha ha The heart and the heart attack was actually kind of scary. LOL. All in all, if it wasn't so boisterous and full of energy and people socializing, I would have taken more time to really look and study the things. I may just have to come again to a quiet atmosphere so I can read all the information and whatnot. Keep it up!

Yelp
A Health museum, what a good idea, but wait a dumb downed Health museum that is only intended to teach children and not for everyone. I'm very interested in knowing why this Health museum hasn't had any concerns with updating anything. All the structures are old, so old that they've been there since I was a baby. I really hope since it being a Health museum that they are "health-conscious" and disinfect their models. So many children, parents, college students everywhere trying to get their hands on knowledge that is only intended for children. Houston needs to get with the program and open up an advanced Health museum because this is unacceptable. After 20 years, I would have hoped that something changed, but everything is the same - it is only the paid admission for the special exhibitions is where the excitement is. How unfortunate. I really expected with the advancement of the Texas Medical Center that the only Health museum would be up to date. Things that need to be changed: -update the free exhibit -Houston really needs a more advanced health museum, instead of this. -disinfect the models -fix the broken and faded items in the free exhibit I won't be returning and especially not on the free museum days - too much people in such cramped space. Also, everything is so dumb down for children's understanding. I'm not a child anymore and museums should be informative for all ages.

Yelp
My sister in law, nephew, and daughter all decided to come here to visit today because it would be interesting for my daughter. We had soo much fun!!! We learned about a lot of things in regards to health that some stuff i didn't know too much about. My daughter really enjoyed herself and got to experience new things about nutrition. We will be back again in the near future so we can do the lab.
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
This is an interactive, hands-on museum that is suited for anyone who likes human biology and health sciences. Although the exhibitions are mostly kid oriented, there are several areas of the human body that are presented in amazing forms, and they may not be for all eyes. There are stations to test your knowledge and a sound booth to test your decibels when screaming, a play area for little ones who want to take a crawl through the human gut, a large beating heart, and more. There is a cell lab, Body Worlds RX, and theater for additional educational fun. Don't forget to pay the gift shop a visit before heading out. There are lots of goodies for germ and organ plush lovers, school/educational items, games, keychains, pens, etc. Overall an interesting visual and hands on museum that is worth a visit.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
This was a really cool experience! It's pretty reasonably priced. I loved how interactive all the exhibits were- I do wish there was more to see and learn though. A lot of the information they gave seemed pretty basic and more directed towards children, which is fine, but I think it'd be cool if they added more in-depth explanations. I feel like I experienced and did everything they had to offer, so I don't think I'll be back unless they add an exhibit that really catches my eye. That being said, I do recommend people visit it because it was a fun and cool experience!
google avatar

Tranika T.

Yelp
Not the biggest museum, however there are a lot of cool interactive exhibits for the kids. Very knowledgeable information that made learning fun for my kids. We happened to pay no admission fee on this particular day because it was Museum Day. Very entertaining family fun!
google avatar

Andrea G.

Yelp
The health museum was a great experience. I learnt a lot. There are different mental games which make the visit more dynamic and fun.
google avatar

Kelley J.

Yelp
I went here for the biorhythm exhibit, and I was honestly a bit disappointed. There were some installations that caught my attention, but most were underwhelming. Also, the size of the museum itself was small and the biorhythm exhibit was probably about 2-3 small rooms. I felt that the installations lacked enough explanation. Some of the installations were either broken or removed. Since the size of the museum is so small, it would be good to stop by if you are already going to the children's museum right by this place (walking distance), but I wouldn't recommend coming just to see this museum.
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
My friend and I checked out the Biorhythm exhibit today (Memorial Day). I was bummed that I couldn't make the YEE at the museum a few months ago, but I really wanted to check out this exhibit. My friend and I both got lucky and scored street parking. With it being a holiday, we didn't have to pay which was nice. They do have a paid lot for $5. The exhibit is $10. No one really explained the layout. Half of it is on one side of the museum and the other half is on the opposite side. We thought we went through it pretty fast before realizing we missed an entire side. We didn't understand how to do some of the exhibits so it would have been nice to have someone there to explain how to use them. It was a fascinating exhibit though, especially since I am a huge fan of music and concerts. The other exhibits are interesting, but I feel like this place is geared more towards children. They do have a bunch of brain teasers in the center of the museum and those can be fun (or frustrating) to try to solve. We watched a movie on different parts of the body. It was pretty corny (it was animated). The giant beating heart was cool. We watched it while it was having a "heart attack" but we couldn't hear the dialogue so it was hard to tell what was actually happening. This place is very educational, but it isn't very large. It was a nice outing though.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
This place is underrated in my opinion. Spent a couple hours here and the kids learned a ton! Don't skip the DeBakey cell lab. Invaluable opportunity for the kids to feel like real scientists. Lab tech was great!
google avatar

Barbara P.

Yelp
Body worlds is back at the Health Museum!! If you've never seen body worlds, it's an awesome experience. I love seeing the bodies and reading about how intricately we are designed. The entrance fee is only $10 per person and allows you to see pretty much everything. I'm Giving 3 stars because there could have been a lot more to see. The museum is rather small and with all the awesome inventions and exhibits in health and medicine, we could have so much more to observe.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Small and many things not working. Still a fun place to visit before or after other museums or a trip to Hermann Park. The gift shop is very well stocked and very big considering the size of the museum itself. Reasonable entry fee.
google avatar

Howard L.

Yelp
There's a bunch of free parking in the Herman Park lot a block away, so no need to pay to park at the museum's lot. Admission is also free on Thursdays 2pm to 7pm, so plan your visit during that time if you can. Overall, the museum is fairly small compared to HMNS or the MFAH, being only one story and a lot of open space. However, many exhibits are interactive, which I found to be very fun and different from other museums, especially if you want to enhance your learning experience.
google avatar

Surbhi C.

Yelp
Small but nice museum. Need 2 hours to finish and one hour for lab. Had some cases-tete games without solutions (grrr) .
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Oh, Health Museum. I'm feeling for you. This new big world of museums and shiny technology is hard and expensive to keep up with. While visiting family in Houston we try to pop into different museums each visit so it seems it was time to pay The Health Museum some attention. I imagine in its hayday this was a cool museum with interactive elements (that properly functioned). Unfortunately, today its a tired museum with several broken interactive stations and exhibits that scream "The 90s!". For the $10 admission, expect to be underwhelmed. We gave it our all using each of the functioning stations including the "hamster wheel", face/DNA drawing station, stretching measurements and perusing each of the educational exhibits (heart rate, the birth cycle, hearing, slivers of the body showing healthy and unhealthy functions, etc. The brain teasers in the lobby were entertaining but felt like something you could make at home and not pay $10 to try out at a museum. I recommend popping your head into the museum gift shop, they offered some fun educational gifts for both kids and adults. Parking: free with museum admission (note it will look like its $3 when you pull into the lot).
google avatar

Thuc V.

Yelp
The Houston Health Museum is only steps away from the Children's Museum. There are plenty of parking options nearby: covered parking lot and metered parking. It is great to bring kids here for a field trip although not all exhibits are suited for smaller ones. The current Bodysuits exhibit, for example, features wearable suits molded from actual bodies (including male/female body parts). The space also includes an old-styled movie theater and a small gift shop.
google avatar

Canny F.

Yelp
Came here with a livingsocial and it was okay. The best part of the museum were the brain games at the end/entrance. You will definitely spend majority of your time here unless you're a genius. A large chunk of the interactive parts of the museum were not working so that kind of sucked.
