I stayed for a night this week. The location isn't bad, it's about a 20 minute walk to National Mall and Union Station is a 5-10 minute drive.|Check in was quick but the receptionist was far from welcoming. The lobby and public areas are all very well kept and nicely decorated.|My 3rd floor room was also well decorated. It was very small with a particularly compact en suite with a decent shower but limited toiletries. The bed was comfortable and there was a little desk and chair. A basic coffee maker was provided although it was rather fiddly to use and there's no bottled water.|Didn't have a chance to visit the restaurant or bar but glancing in they looked nice.|Check out was very speedy and the receptionist was much friendlier than the one the day before.|All in all, the Henley Park is a perfectly adequate and comfortable hotel but not one which leaves a lasting impression or burning desire to return.

This was my second stay with Henley Park. I enjoy qaint hotels that have been well maintained and Henley Park does not disappoint. I have been surprised to find sufficient street level parking within a block of the hotel. Upon arrival I have been met both times by someone at the door with a welcome greeting. The desk personnel have been very accommodating and friendly. I have yet to enjoy tea time or the bar/restaurant but I will ensure to make time on a future visit. The rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable. Checkouts have been seamless and on both stays I wish I had more time to stay. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance, and on our first stay we walked to the hockey arena and the White House. I have enjoyed my stays with Henley Park and I look forward to a future stay. I will continue to support this hotel.

The WiFi could use an upgrade. It is very slow . This hotel is wonderful the staff go above and beyond their duty. I stayed here for 5 days . Every single employee works hard . Opening the door for you , shining the doors every single day, cleaning up leaves , cleaning the whole facility day and night . I just saw one of the guy shining the door trim in the lobby . It is an old building but it’s definitely been updated. My particular room is really nice .

Staff was amazing. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. However, our heater wasn’t working and was replaced with a space heater. When diagnosed it should’ve been addressed immediately instead of us asking for a space heater. Wifi, nor our room phone was wasn’t working. For the price of the rooms, I feel all this shouldn’t have been an issue. It is the same price for the nicer hotels nearby so it should be on par with its amenities if it offers less.

The room was at the corner of a floor, not the best of places. So, had little uncomfortness Located at Washington DC Downtown, a perfect place to be in DC. May be other rooms and could have felt a lot better. Faced problem with shower and the heater sound too..

Terrible customer service and construction noise at 7:30am. I've stayed at this hotel 1-year ago and came back this year after Christmas due to the good location and low price. Big mistake. They put me in a room next to the elevator, but never informed me that they elevator was under construction. Why would they put anyone in a room by the elevator under construction??? Even worse, drilling and hammering started at 7:30am two days in a row. When I raised the issue with the front desk, they told me they would speak to the general manager who was in a meeting. They never got back to me. When I raised the issue the second time, they told me the construction was moving to another floor the next day. Unfortunately, the noise in my room was just as bad starting at 7:30am. When I talked to the desk manager (Oscar) he said he would discuss with the general manager and would get back to me. He never did. I then called him 3 more times and each time he had an excuse about why he couldn't get back to me and why he couldn't offer me any compensation other than 10% off my next stay and free breakfast. He also claimed that the front desk person offered to move me to another room, which was also blatantly false and untrue. I would have requested a room change had I not been assured the noise wasn't going to be there the next day. Overall, this hotel is old, the customer service is terrible, and it doesn't even have refrigerators in the room (but they have 4 for the whole hotel and will move one in the room if you request it 3 days in a row). Strongly advise everyone to stay elsewhere or prepare to be disappointed.

Google
I just booked a room here for the night bc I had early plans in the city the next day. Customer service was excellent. My room was nothing special. The bathroom toilet sat extremely low even for me as a 36 y/o woman lol it was more for a toddler. The bed was comfortable though. My view was terrible and there was construction extremely loud early in the morning during my one night stay. The room was clean and the location is perfect

Last minute booked this hotel despite never staying here. The staff that checked me in was kind and upgraded the room. Come to find when already late at night after my dinner meeting the room was over 80 degrees. I had to sleep with all windows open to cool it down. I ended having to book another night due to a schedule change. I went through a third party site and a room type wasn’t given. Upon re-checking in, I told Emily who was wonderful about the room having a broken AC system. She kindly wrote a note to staff and I asked for the manager’s contact. She gave me the General Manager’s contact info. I would have to re-check in and I ended up emailing Derick Spreight and told him about the room and asked to consider a different or comparable room when I re-check in at a later time. He never replied. Re-checking in was fine, but when leaving today (11/21/24) I was granted a 30 minute extension (had a last minute zoom) by Emily and at 11:30am while I was in a meeting housekeeping yelled and knocked. I had to pardon myself in the meeting. My don not disturb sign was on. When checking out I told the staff this. I know when a DND sign is on, staff should call if they need to talk to the occupant. Then lastly, I sat at the bar and was quickly trying to eat my sandwich before my next meeting and who I believe was the General Manager that never emailed back, kicked me off from the bar. I just left at that point. I do not think I’d come back or ever recommend.

Yelp
This hotel is close to convention center. It is a bit old and has some historic vibe. The room is quite small but neat and cozy. The staff are super attentive, greeting everyone in and out. The housekeeping is nice. The front desk is very responsive and sent a tech to my room soon after I called for room thermostat issue. In Addition, They offer onsite breakfast and dinning. The food is decent. My only complaint is that The service in the morning might be a bit slow.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE! Worst hotel experience of my life. There's no way that this hotel has 4 stars and the reviews are definitely faked!!!! I checked in for a 3 night stay and the thermostat (both heating and AC) and WiFi did not work. In addition to that, the windows are literally 1 cm thick and because of this I could hear every noise and siren outside which caused me to be woken up 4 times in one night despite the fact that I wore good quality ear plugs. My co worker was staying at the Marriott marquis across the street and did not have this issue which proves that this hotel just has super thin windows. This left me extremely sleep deprived before my meeting the next day. The next morning, I went to the front desk and told them about the thermostat, WiFi and street noise. I said I wanted a refund for the 2 nights left on my reservation and the front desk lady said that's fine but I would have to call Expedia to get a refund. I called Expedia and they called the manager so they could process my refund and the manager flat out refused to give them the ok to give me a refund. I went back down to the front desk and got into a screaming match with the manager and demanded a refund. He yelled back and refused. Super unpleasant situation that I had to deal with on 2 hours of sleep. I had to file a claim with Bank of America to finally get my money back which took weeks. Do not stay here just because it's slightly cheaper than other hotels. It's not worth it at all! Horrible manager who thinks it's ok to not refund the money when the thermostat, WiFi and windows do not work. Fraudulent and scammer business practices!

Yelp
The Henley Park Hotel is designated as a Historic Hotel of America. Centrally located in DC, I was able to score a decent price on Expedia. I say "decent" because it was still over $200 for one night. They add a $60 incidental charge upon check-in, but it will drop off. The hotel itself was gorgeous and clearly old. The kind front desk agent was able to check me in early, and she found me a room that met my requests for a quiet, high floor room away from the elevator and away from Massachusetts Ave. My room was small but perfect for one person. I brought earplugs so I didn't hear any noise overnight but when I woke up in the morning and took them out, I could hear my neighbors pretty perfectly, so that's one thing to keep in mind if you're sensitive to noise. The bed itself was comfy and the room was clean, aside from the hair dryer that was sticky and caked in hair. I left that out on the vanity in hopes that the housekeeper would clean it. They offer secure luggage storage, which is great when you want to tour around the city after check out. If you need the lobby bathroom, walk to the right past the check-in counter and then down the flight of steps. Multi-stall bathrooms are at the bottom of the steps. The lobby area also has a really comfy seating area, as well as a bar, but I did not stop at the bar while there. I wouldn't hesitate to return if the price was right.

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. After staying here only twice, I've claimed it as my DC home away from home. My first stay was in May. I'd considered staying at the nearby Moxy or The Eaton, but something about Henley Park pulled me in. The front desk folks were so welcoming, it felt as though they had met me before and were already welcoming me back. I was told that Tom Joyner used to stay regularly in the room I was being given. Tucked away in a cul de sac, the room was perfect. There was no noise from the hallway my entire stay. I had a pleasant view of Massachusetts Ave, and a bank of windows I spent a good amount of time observing city life from. I would have felt comfortable entertaining in the room, as it had a comfortable couch and a chair in addition to a queen bed. I loved that there were a robe, a Keurig, and a safe. The dresser was so cute I wanted to take it home. I love that there are usb ports in the lamps. Modern amenities, quirky touches, and old world charm mix and create such a vibe, I hardly wanted to leave. There were no refrigerators in the rooms I stayed in, and I really needed one on my July visit, but I made it work. I had a smaller room in July, but it was still pleasant, with the same amenities minus the Massachusetts Ave. view and cozy seating. My train was late and I had a friend waiting in the lobby for me for longer than either of us expected. When I arrived, I found that a hotel staff member had kept her company and kept her spirits up. He even made me laugh, and I was terribly cranky at the time. The location, at Mount Vernon Square, between the Convention Center and Chinatown, is superb. It was a straight shot up the road from and to Union Station on arrival and departure. I walked to The Eaton, Sakina Grill, and Metro Center in May, and the Tatte near the little park on I Street, where I sat and people and pigeon watched in July. I was also able to easily walk to meet my friend who was staying at another downtown hotel halfway. When I lived in DC metro years ago, I thought of K street as the most city chaos that DC had to offer. True, I was mostly experiencing downtown then during the busy workday or on the way to downtown nightlife. Fast forward a few decades, and staying at the Henley, off K St. even, on a weekend, feels peaceful. I even rode a city bike for the first time down K St., back to the hotel. The lobby. Omg I love the lobby. The website states that "the original parlor has welcomed guests since 1918." I love its time gone by charm, especially in contrast with the multi-ethnic composition of the staff and guests and other differences between daily life in the 21st century vs. the early 20th. Someone I rode the train up with for my July stay was dressed for cosplay. Once I arrived, it was very cool to see cosplaying guests who were attending the Comic Con at the nearby convention center flow in and out of the hotel, providing such an interesting contrast to the early 20th century decor. At one point, I shared the space with a young woman who walked in on hooves. In July, I had a late dinner with a friend at the Tavern inside the hotel. We were the last visitors of the evening. The fennel and champagne vinaigrette on the tavern salad - chef's kiss. Our server was wonderful. We had such a nice talk about family and home, his original home being Morocco. After dinner, we moved to the little alcove area in the lobby where I'd previously taken selfies. There's a small table with seating for two. We sat there for a long time, and it was like being in a comfortable living space in someone's home. The Henley Park Hotel is my #1 choice of hotel in the DC area. The customer service, the lobby, the location, and the overall feel of this place are all impeccable. With a plethora of hotels downtown, I almost hate to tell people about this one. Feels like I'm giving away a secret that's really just for me...

Yelp
Solid tea service, good food, tea was good, service was fast, servers were really nice ambience was plain but clean and nice. No decorations, no candles, no flowers, nothing on the table. I thought we were having the Holiday tea service, but we actually had the Royal, and they also have one called English so it's helpful to know there are more than one because I was confused that the menu didn't match up with what's online. And of course I preferred the holiday tea options. However no one explained that, I figured it out later on after we left. The tea sandwiches and cakes were presented beautifully, but not super exciting taste-wise. Like, how about instead of giving two of the same flavor scones, you offer two different flavors. Things like that I always notice. Overall it's a great place for the price and experience.

Yelp
High Tea at the Henley was lovely -- scones, sweets and small squares of meats & florentine. The tea choices were varied and we all enjoyed a full pot each. My Pearls of Jasmine tea was flavorful and hot.

Yelp
This review is just for their afternoon tea (oh my gosh I feel so fancy even typing that) and not for a hotel stay. My group of about 15 or so came here while visiting DC and had a really wonderful afternoon. Firstly, the room is beautiful. You can come decked out in your finest high tea outfit and fancy hat and you'll fit right in. Most of us just wore sundresses or a kind of nice outfit and felt very comfortable. You choose between the Royal tea and the English, Royal having a few more lite bites (our whole group went English and had plenty to snack on). You'll choose from their large selection of teas and everyone will get their own teapot. The finger sandwiches and scones were all so tasty and great to snack on. I would definitely recommend just making this your lunch or breakfast as their will be PLENTY of food and you won't want to eat for a while afterwards. A really wonderful experience!

Yelp
My fiancé had his parents over from Europe and we were planning an overnight stay in DC. We booked the Henley because the location looked ideal. I have an emotional support dog who has been registered federally for years. She has a certificate and card which I carry with me at all times. As well as a letter from my doctor. I advised the hotel, as I always do, however their response was a simple "no." They would not allow me to bring my emotional support animal to their property. She is a 10lb yorkie. 12 yrs old that I push in a stroller. I immediately canceled my reservation and went with a much more accommodating hotel. I would never recommend such a discriminatory hotel. I have not stayed here only dealt with their terrible and rude customer service. I hope others had a different experience but some of the reviews leave me to believe otherwise. Perhaps a new way of thinking is in order.

Yelp
It's a very large suite that has well decorated designated areas that allow for you to lounge, sleep, and work/study separately.

Yelp
I thought this could be a discreet spot to spend a few days but to my surprise when I went there last night, by the time I had whipped out my documents from my handbag, the security guard launched into an attack on me. Never visited the place before. Apparently the security guards are the ones in charge of hotel establishments these days - good for folks to know. Don't worry about a Manager, just remember that the security guard is all powerful to accost, harass, bully, abuse or do whatever he wishes on instructions of "whoever." As this behavior is met with horror and amazement by large luxury hotel chains in other parts, it appears that the security guard(s) taking such liberties have another non-hotel agenda don't you think?

Yelp
Clean and very good service, enough space in the room to move around. The location is perfect. For the rice o highly recommend. It's an old building and not a luxury touch to any of it but it has charm.

Yelp
This was the perfect hotel for us. We planned a two day trip to DC to see some of the museums. We wanted a hotel with some personality and charm and we found it! The Henley Park Hotel dates back to 1918. The room was a touch small, but very comfortable. The bathroom offered enough space for my fiance's ton of sprays, makeup, etc. Good closet space. Exactly what we needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We brought a ton of luggage and, unfortunately, every way in and out of the hotel involves steps so taking the luggage cart right out to the car was not happening. The bellman/concierge took care of all that. The hotel offers valet parking for a fee which was a great convenience. I got up early the first morning in search of a Starbucks. Th e bellman in lobby pointed me across the street to the Marriott. Upon entering the huge newer Marriott, I was immediately glad we picked the more charming Henley Park Hotel. We only ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant. It was fantastic. The first morning I had a breakfast sandwich (eggs, bacon, cheese) on a croissant with seasonal fruit. It was perfect. It was satisfying without being too filling which is vital if you're doing a lot of walking around the city. The second morning, I had a mushroom & Swiss omelet. It came with potatoes, toast & fruit. Again, perfect. Our first night there we stopped by the hotel bar for drinks. We were the only ones there. The bartender was very friendly and made restaurant recommendations. Our only regret was that we did not eat dinner in the hotel restaurant because the place we had dinner on night one was not good (it wasn't the one recommended by our bartender). Finally, the day we were due to check out, we had reservations at Ford's Theater. We weren't sure we would get back in time for check out. The desk clerk (friendly young woman whose name I did not get) stored our array of bags at no extra charge. The gentleman who brought our vehicle around was more than happy to help us with our luggage. We left very happy with our choice and will definitely be back. If you are looking for a shiny behemoth chain hotel that gives you points, this is not your place. The other heads up is that the elevators are small. That aside, we couldn't be happier.

Yelp
Several girlfriends and I went to Henley Park for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday today, and though the service was very good, I couldn't help feeling that the hotel is cutting corners as much as possible. First, they put only one Harney & Sons tea bag into each two-cup pot, which made for very weak tea. Two teabags are needed in each pot to bring the tea to the necessary color and strength (though, in truth, I expected it to be brewed with loose-leaf tea). Also, the tea sandwiches are tiny, and all open-faced, and I did miss the heft of an actual tea sandwich made with two pieces of bread and a filling. They should have offered at least a few of those. And, for $50, they could have offered us a few more of those miniature open-faced sandwiches, as the serving was skimpy for the price. And $16 extra for a Kir Royale is steep. In a word, though they brought the birthday girl a mini bundt cake with a candle (at my insistence), I felt that this tea was not good value for money. Tea served at the proper strength, and enough tea sandwiches to quiet a rumbly tummy are the absolute minimum requirement.

Chad S.

Yelp
My daughter and I went for afternoon tea. We chose the Royal Tea which was $60 each. We were each given a small pot of tea and shared a 3 level tower of finger sandwiches, scones and sweet pastries. The presentation was very nice but it was easy to tell most of the food was not fresh prepared. It tasted like the food and pastries had been previously frozen. Certainly not fresh and not worth $60 each. The staff was very attentive and service was good.

Dana H.

Yelp
I attended for holiday tea which I hosted for a few close friends. Just to start off- I had to ask to order something because servers kept walking past me- I was the only guest in the room. If you want to try an additional tea they charge you extra. They disappeared for +40 minutes at which point I went to the front desk to ask for someone to take a drink order. The holiday tea service was very lackadaisical and not representative of the reputation the hotel had. Skip this "holiday tea" and hit one where they treat you a bit better.

Anny Z.

Yelp
Leaking window overnight. When we spoke with the front desk, Frances, was quite dismissive and called the repair man to say it was "open." It wasn't open, it was closed. We had just heard her laughing and joking with the patron in front of us, who she gave a "complementary upgrade" to. Her demeanor completely changed as soon as we got to the desk. We are a younger, Asian, couple. We had also gone in the morning, when someone else said nothing could be done about the room. There are freezing temperatures at night right now. The night before we waited over 15 minutes to be helped, even though there was no one in front of us. We then went upstairs to a room that was freezing. We brought the issue up - no offer to switch rooms, no offer of breakfast or any sort of compensation for a very unpleasant night! The room itself is clean, but small. It's a nice place to sleep for a great location. The staff just did not treat us the same as the patron before us, in a negative way.

Yelp
The Henley Park Hotel is a historic hotel. The lobby and rooms are accented with antique furnishings. I stayed in this cute and charming hotel about 7 years ago for my 25th birthday. Other than the bed taking up most of the room, it was a good experience. However, this review is solely about the afternoon tea experience. My friends and I gathered for afternoon tea at The Tavern at the Henley Park Hotel. The service was average. Afternoon Tea is available Friday to Sunday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. They have two menu options: Royal Tea for $48/person and English Tea for $38/person. The difference between the two menu is that the Royal Tea option includes Tartlets, Petit Fours, and Chocolate Truffles and Fresh Berries with Whipped Cream. All of us picked the Royal Tea option. For teas, they had a nice selection of Black Tea, Green Tea, and Decaf Tea. You could have champagne for $14-18/glass or unlimited champagne for $22/person. I enjoyed the Fresh Berries with Whipped Cream and Dried Fruit and Chocolate Chip Scones with fruit preserves and clotted cream with Earl Grey Supreme black tea. I liked how the Royal Tea menu started with Fresh Berries with Whipped Cream. The tartlets and chocolate truffles were a bit too sweet for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the finger sandwiches mainly because of the bread selection. However, I feel liked it was too much food and would have preferred to order the items (food and tea) a la carte even if it meant paying a little more. It would have been nice to try different teas!

Nicole M.

Yelp
I recently stayed there for 2 nights. The room was nice and big, but a lot of traffic noise/horns outside. The staff was very nice & I specifically want to brag on Sega. He was very professional & personally remembered my name and my son's when I showed up. I was so glad I got to meet him.

Kwame S.

Yelp
The Henley Park Hotel is a nice historic hotel in the center of town - pretty much everything that a tourist would want to see is within walking distance. While my stay was pretty short (two nights), I would definitely stay at the Henley Park Hotel in the future. Overall, the staff was very friendly and super helpful, especially the gentlemen handling the valet, the early evening gentlemen handling check-ins, and the bartender (unfortunately, I have forgotten their names). Although my room was a bit small, it was the perfect size for one guest and came with everything one would need for a short stay. *Keep in mind that I'm a minimalist when it comes to traveling. As long as a place has a decent bed, toilet, and bathing area, I'm pretty satisfied.* I will say that the bathroom was a lot larger than expected. While the waiting area and the bar had somewhat antique furnishings, my room was pretty modern. With the exception of the parking situation, this hotel would have received a five. From my understanding, I thought parking was included with a reservation. Actually, the free parking was one of the main reasons (besides location) why I opted to stay at the Henley Park Hotel instead of another nearby hotel. Upon checking in, I learned that free parking was not an option, and I had to pay about $50 per night. It seems that parking is included if you use certain online booking agencies. I believe booking.com was one, but I forgot the other. If you plan on driving and using the hotel's parking services, I highly recommend that you call ahead and verify if parking is included before making your reservation.

James B.

Yelp
Before you book your room make sure there are no events being held at the hotel. when there is an event the bar and restaurant are closed to paying patrons. Definitely do not book the Tea for 70$ a complete over charge and no room service I would not recommend this property!

Lacresha S.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely staff and hotel. Very charming historic hotel. Hotel is extremely clean, with updated rooms, and delicate details. The staff is super kind, attentive, helpful, and prompt to reply. This will be my new hotel when I visit DC. I am so impressed with the staff and the hotel that I had to leave a review. While there is no ice machine similar to other hotels, the staff quickly brought a bucket to my room when I called the front desk. I absolutely love the Henley Park hotel and the entire staff. During this visit I wasn't able to have noon tea, but this is a must for my next visit. Keep up the good work Henley staff, you all have impressed me and I'm pretty hard to impress.

Tammy S.

Yelp
Beautiful classic hotel. It was elegant and accommodating! The hotel has classic features and a beautiful lobby. The staff were accommodating and friendly.

Lisa M.

Yelp
I came here on Mother's Day for their Afternoon Tea. It was a nice tea, but our server was off putting with his obviously false compliments, which I can only imagine were to secure a bigger tip. Here's a tip: Let me enjoy my tea and my company, and I'll give you a good tip. ‍

L. Michelle H.

Yelp
There is a fine line between historic and charming, and old and rundown. The rooms are nicely updated with great beds and televisions. But the rest of the hotel could use some technological updates to make things easier and more convenient. The front desk's inability to take debit cards or allow late check out is disappointing in this day and age. Website needs to be updated so that guest know what to expect. Adding bottled water and bringing ice to the room on request would be a big help. I wouldn't stay again. But I would drop in for afternoon tea if they hired more staff. The tea was nice, but service was slow and inattentive.

Nomadic T.

Yelp
Really basic hotel in very convenient location. Only hotel that had availability at the government rate in central city. It's directly across the street from the Marriot Marquis. Henley has old school charm of you like that kind of thing. Room was kind of small, had safe but no fridge or microwave. AC was nice and cold. Bed was comfortable. Showerhead was coming out of the wall but water pressure was good. I'd stay here again if all the Marriots and Hiltons in the area were booked. Quiet.

Kathleen C.

Yelp
This is a lovely, historic hotel. I stayed here for a weekend while attending a conference nearby. The staff are extremely helpful and kind. There is a small restaurant and bar. They wait staff was very nice. Rooms are rather small, typical of historic hotels. Our room had a view of the interior skylight over the restaurant. The hotel is very convenient. It is not ADA accessible. I would definitely stay here again.

Brian D.

Yelp
Hotel is decent but the customer service is terrible. I booked on booking.com which advertised free parking. The hotel would not honor the free parking. Parking is $50 a night.

Angela C.

Yelp
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The room we stayed smelled like mice, the electrical outlet worse, we pulled out of the wall and did not work making it difficult to perform my job remotely, the room was cold i.e. no heat, there were holes in the sheets, rust in the sink, and repeated disturbances during my remote meetings to determine if there was water coming from our room and flooding the hallway to the restaurant. There was no water coming from our room, by the way. I reached out at least ten (10) times to Management to discuss the issues and even spent time trying to determine who owns this property. I was not successful. I do not like giving bad reviews, but I cannot think of any way to inform travelers to BE WARE of the Henley Park Hotel. To make matters worse, we paid over five hundred dollars($500.00) for two(2) nights to stay in this horrid hotel! Needless to say, we had to find other accommodations.

Michaela N.

Yelp
For the nostalgia of this historic boutique hotel I feel like I visit deserves at least 4 stars. While this may not be a 4 or 5 star hotel I think there is something to be said for things from the past. We only stopped in for high tea on a Saturday afternoon, the tea and crumpets were OK but the photo taking opportunities were amazing and will last a lifetime. This is a great place for a birthday event or any kind of celebrate any occasion that you want to avoid mainstream ideas. Definitely check out Henley park high tea!

Yelp
This place doesn't even deserve one star! Staying at this hotel has been one of the most awful experiences in my life. First of all be careful if you are going for business and your company is doing the reservations because apparently they can't charge the card on file unless the person with the card is present and they won't let you know until you are there! In this digital era that is a huge problem! But the worst part was that my collegue was targeted of an accusation of smoking in her room, they didn't ask politely, they banged on her door like she was commiting a crime and after they accused her and she prove the manager and the security guard wrong they didn't apologize. The next morning when I complained about the incident the man that was "in charge" at that moment just mocked me and acted like a little child making faces instead of apologizing and then left abruptly in a very disrespectful manner. The personal is racist, rude, and awful. The hotel itself is old and with many imperfections. I strongly advice any production company or any company or visitor for that matter to avoid this place, as charming as it may seems because it looks colonial and cozy the only thing colonial is the mentality. There is a fantastic Marriot right across the street with very polite personal and modern system. Shame on the manager of this place for running such a disgusting business.

Yelp
We went to the hotel for afternoon tea. The service is pleasant and the tea choices were good enough. The food looked ok but was not as tasty as it could be. It's not terribly fancy or too casual. It's a pleasant experience but it won't wow you.

Yelp
The service is first-rate and, based on the reputation, I didn't expect anything less. I booked a same-day reservation and the suite I stayed in was beautiful. There used to be live music, but they've kept the piano and it plays on a schedule which is really nice over speaker music. The bar hasn't changed much over the years and is tucked away in a quaint little corner past the elevators. The bartenders do a great old fashioned and gibson. The Henley does an exceptional job of maintaining an older charm with some contemporary flair while not being pretentious and unapproachable. The staff was friendly and welcoming outside of the customary "hello" and I enjoyed my stay. A word of caution: If you stay on the 2nd floor, ensure that you are NOT next to the fitness center. You'll need at least a room or two buffer. As this is an old hotel, I was abruptly woken up in the early morning due to being able to hear every step that someone took on the treadmill. It was truly horrendous seeing as how I'm from the West Coast and it was closer to like four or five am back home. I imagine the hotel has had people make the same complaint before based on age alone. I stayed in an upgraded room so I can see not wanting to waste the space; but there is no way in hell anyone can rest if someone is running on the treadmill. I was pretty much the walking dead all day as I couldn't get back to sleep. Overall I love the hotel, bar, and staff and will certainly stay again. This time I just know not to stay on the second floor if I want any sleep, lol.

Yelp
Afternoon Tea. In the lobby, suitcases and other guests watching.... this is not the space anyone would expect for a $35 per person tea. Why not the elevator? The hallway? Are there no dining rooms or private areas where one could enjoy a very expensive tea? Like being in an airport Starbucks. Service slow and inattentive.

Yelp
Came here with a group of women for the high tea brunch. Our reservation was at 2PM. We walked into the hotel, which has Tudor castle-like character, with high stone ceilings, tapestries, gothic flare, and a closed glass atrium. In order to get to the tavern, you have to walk through an outdated restaurant bar, which completely takes you out of the castle look of the lobby. On the other side of the bar is the atrium (frequently photographed for the hotel's ads). Here the gothic castle look gets confused with floral, American furniture, retro walls and ceilings, and generally, a dated look that doesn't feel intentional. Even though it was completely empty, our group was seated outside of the atrium in one of their side rooms (FYI to note that you want the atrium when you get seated). Our room was bright, bright red with a wall of stone Greek statue faces (?) that eerily reminded me of the Game of Thrones hall of faces. For a pre-fixe brunch, we were thrown off by how empty the tavern, atrium, and bar were! It was also dead quiet with no background music. Tables started filled up around 3:30. Sadly becoming something I now expect of pre-fixe, gratuity included brunches in DC, the service for the high tea was pretty poor. Each person in our group ordered the Royal Tea: a choice of tea, sandwiches, two scones, an assortment of pastries and petit fours, berries and cream starter, and a Kir Cocktail. Food review: The meal starts with berry and cream bowls. They are really, really sweet so most of us stuck to just the berries. It took the servers a while, and several mistakes, to bring out each of our teas. Each tea order comes in an individual teapot, but sadly these pots dribble like crazy! Most of us soaked the table cloth while pouring. I got the Jasmine tea and enjoyed it. The Kir Cocktail is just terrible -- like sweetened, carbonated cough syrup. The sandwiches and scones (plus butter cream) were great. The truffle, petit fours, and mini pastries were mediocre and tasted store bought. For veggies: they will happy swap out salmon sandwiches for their other options. If you are hoping to see a whimsical set up, with delicate tea party cups and dishes, you may be disappointed with the basic dining ware. Service was a mess. The servers were extremely chaotic, running in and out of the tavern, confusing orders, reaching across us and spilling water while pouring. We only got water if we asked. They take their time bringing out items which might be intentional to fill up the two-hour-ish experience. They also refused to split the check more than one way because "it will take too much time." Even so, our compliant one-credit-card check disappeared for at least 20 min before it was returned to us. I find that odd considering they have a bar right outside of the tavern. Bar cashier systems can split and run multiple checks easily. Bad service like what we experienced feels inexcusable when the waiters only have to bring out a few pre-fixe items per table (thanks to the tower), have very few tables to serve, and are guaranteed a 20% gratuity. Ultimately, I think we paid for the experience more than the food or the tea, and the experience was sub-par. I've enjoyed other high teas in the city a lot more than this one. P.S. The ladies room is hilariously deep in the basement of the hotel... a few of us got lost trying to find it.

Yelp
From the moment we walked in I felt welcomed and comfortable. Derick answered questions about the event we were attending in DC. Room is beautiful. Bar has a limited menu, but the items we ordered were all very good. This will be my go-to hotel in DC moving forward.

Yelp
Not a bad hotel at all given its location. It was moderately priced. The room was very small and dated. The front desk was efficient and friendly, and hey they had loaner umbrellas for the rains :)

Yelp
Mistakenly bought 4 nights instead of 3 on Expedia. Went and checked in with Nico and went up to my room; while in the elevator I realized he said 4 nights and I came straight back down and told him it'll only be 3 nights. Nico told me to contact Expedia so I did, they called and talked to him and he said no refund allowed so I spoke with a manager since it was an honest mistake on my part I thought they would do the right thing but I was denied a refund again. The only good thing about the hotel is Jesus the bartender who even recommended another hotel for my next trip, so that is where I will be going next time.

Yelp
We booked the holiday tea Dec 2022 for what was supposed to be a festive family event for 5 people. When we booked 6 weeks prior online, we noted that we had 2 vegetarians. Staff was not informed - resulting in only one kind of tea sandwich for 2 of us. Henley Park had run out of both holiday teas (bags) on the menu. Staff was nice but overall we spent $450 with tip and fees for a not so great or special tea that I could have produced at home for less than $50. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Afternoon Tea at the Tavern at Henley Park The staff, service and atmosphere were wonderful. However if it weren't for the scones, the actual Tea would have only been 2 stars, especially given the price! The tea sandwiches left much to be desired and could easily be improved. They were basically bland. The smoked salmon had some taste but nothing to write home about. The desserts were mediocre. The scones were outstanding! Light and very tasty with the jams and cream!

Yelp
Quite the let down. I went for tea time and they forced everyone to get a typical $50-60 tea time finger sandwiches and scones. The food came out and the quality was so bad. The bread and toppings were stale and had the discoloration you see when food has been made and sitting out for too long. I have no doubt they didn't make the sandwiches days ago and serve them to us. The portions were incredibly small and the taste just was sub-par at best. I do not recommend this location for food and service and will not be going back.

Yelp
Upon glancing through the posted reviews of The Henley Park Hotel, I feel the need to state that my experience is written specifically towards the hotel room accommodations and room service. I was in Washington, D.C. for a multi-day conference. Since my coworker took care of the accommodations months before, I assumed it would be a standard, run of the mill, modern hotel. When my Uber pulled up to The Henley Park Hotel, I wasn't totally convinced I was standing in front of the correct building. Between the stone facade and the old world charm, I just wouldn't have guessed it was a hotel. With that being said, the facility has been fully modernized and is very quaint. The rooms themselves are small but since I was not bunking with my coworker, it made for a cozier stay rather than cramped. If you are a snack or left-over lover, prepare to not have a refrigerator or microwave available in the room. I took advantage of the room service for one breakfast and two dinner meals. The food was well prepared and served promptly. This allowed me to maximize my down time when I was preparing for and ending the business day. For room service fare, it was reasonably priced and was conveniently automatically charged to my account to pay in a lump sum at checkout. Furthermore, I am a big fan of the location of The Henley Park Hotel. Practically everything is already within walking distance in Washington, D.C., but the Massachusetts Avenue address created a short distance to easily reach hot spots such as Chinatown and the Smithsonian museums. It also made things easy when navigating public transportation. I don't think this hotel is necessarily for everyone, but it certainly creates a unique and laid back experience in such a notoriously swanky & bustling city.

Yelp
Overall, I enjoyed our stay at this old, historic, hotel. My husband and I stayed for 4 nights as our option over the Marriott Marquis across the street where the meeting we were there for was taking place. The prices were better here and I was happy to be at a little distance from the conference. The hotel staff is very nice. Always welcoming you back or offering an umbrella on a rainy day. The room was always cleaned in a reasonable amount of time and done well. Our room on the second floor looked very nice although there is a side window looking directly into an office space. The women working there seemed totally uninterested in us but we kept that shade closed the entire stay. The heat/ac were...temperamental and we decided to turn that off and just have an open window. Being hardy New Englanders we did mind the drop down night temperatures. After trying an appetizer at the bar, (with a nice glass of wine) we avoided the hotel restaurant. The appetizer was mediocre at best. There are way too many great restaurants in DC to settle for pricey, average restaurant food. We did have friends staying at the Henley Park hotel at the same time. One couple had AC/heat issues that seemed much worse then ours. They are from Florida so our answer to keeping the window open did not seem to fly with them. They also had a door that didn't close properly and on a windy night banged open and closed all evening. Other friends staying at the hotel had no issues. It seemed to be a little hit or miss. Personally, I'd stay there again but I'd request a room that doesn't have a wall to the office building. Maybe they will have the AC/Heat issues worked out by then.

Yelp
From the moment I pulled up and thought I couldn't check in, because it was too early, the General Manager Derick greeted me at the door and ushered me right in to check in. Room was clean and perfect, but a little cold, heat wasn't working. I stopped at the desk on our way out and mentioned it, he was right on it. Came back to Francis at the desk, I asked about my room, she didn't know, but offered to check right away, long story short - my room temp was perfect. This hotel is a hidden gem, in my opinion, sure it's not modern and sleek, but cozy and comfortable and the staff provides impeccable service. Had drinks and snacks at the bar, limited menu, but everything was good, and our bartender was attentive and super friendly! I would stay here again and again!

Yelp
We had Afternoon Tea and was pleasantly impressed with their service. The Tea we chose was delicious. We had the Royal Tea which offered dessert with our savories. Generous portions. One suggestion would be to offer sugar cubes with our tea.

Yelp
We had two backpacks missing from our hotel room manager told us he would look into it called him a week later, never returned our call called him back again and he finally sent an email saying they did not find our backpacks and that He wasn't gonna do anything about it. Expensive hotel, guests are NOT hard up for anything for free. Just wanted our backpacks! Will not recommend this hotel to anyone! Sorry!

Yelp
My fashion club organized a large tea party here for our anniversary. There were probably about 40-50 of us in total, and we were all accommodated in the sitting room. It was a very cramped space with all of us in there, and it got quite warm. It was winter, and the heat was on inside the hotel. If you are planning an event for Afternoon Tea, I would recommend a party size of 30 or less. That being said, it was a beautiful space. There were chandeliers, and room to set up a photo booth. The staff seemed slightly overwhelmed, but overall they were helpful. The tea trays were spaced a little far for everyone to share evenly, so you definitely had to make new friends to get food. For the cost of tea, I wish they gave you a little bit more. I also remember having to wait quite a long time for servers to bring around more tea or hot water. You mostly pay for the scenery for this venue; the rest was somewhat mediocre. It was about a 10 minute walk from the nearest metro station, and I'm unsure what the parking situation was. Overall, it was slightly inconvenient to get to. After tea, I went to the hotel bar for a drink. They had a few signature cocktails, but as one would expect, they were a little pricey. I tried the "First Blossom of Spring", which was a floral cocktail made mainly with gin. It was very nice, and meant for sipping languidly. It's too bad there was a football game on in the background though, because it was noisy and difficult to relax. Overall, it was a pretty venue, and they had decent tea service, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

Yelp
Location - excellent. Close to metros and walkable to the national mall area. Staff - very good. Always greeting us and helping with doors. Our flight was preponed due to a possible severe thunderstorm and we reached by 8 in the morning. Checkin doesn't begin before 3 pm but they were very helpful and gave us a room immediately. Room - this was a little bummer. No view at all since it was in 2nd floor and looking towards other rooms. There were all required amenities Cons- definitely needs recarpeting Bathroom door doesn't remain open, kept closing which was little annoying when I wanted to keep the door open. The alarm clock in the room has some sort of radio frequency going on whole night and made noises which kept waking me up. I tried to switch it off but made no change to the noises. But since we got the room early we didn't say anything. We didn't try the restaurant, just had a mouse which cost $18 for room service. We tried to go to the tea room during 4-6 pm but they said we have to reserve. All 3 days I saw the room empty so didn't understand the reservation concept. Anyways not a tea fan. All in all it was a good experience. Definitely can think of staying here again.

Yelp
The location of this hotel was the main appeal, being close to the DC Convention Center, but I was unimpressed with the facilities for the rather lofty price. The hotel aspires to an old world charm, but comes across as just run down. The elevators are slow, the rooms dark and filled with aging furniture, and the bathrooms spartan. The fitness room is a box of a room plastered with mirrors to mask its anemic size. It offers aging equipment including a single stationary bike, and two rickety treadmills, one of which is so loud, I worried it would wake half the hotel. The service was moderately unfriendly and the room price did not include much (e.g. breakfast). A pod-based coffee maker was supplied, but on the second and third days of my 3 day stay I was supplied with only decaf. I wouldn't plan on staying here again.

Yelp
We were visiting DC for a week, for our honeymoon. We decided on Henley Park since it had the combination of being not too cheap, close to the National Mall (about at 15 minute walk) and sufficiently "fancy" feeling for our honeymoon, but also not too extravagant, since we were planning to stay for a full week. We were able to book a room with a refrigerator, no problem, and also an afternoon tea service for the day of our arrival. We ended up asking them to let us check in about an hour early, and they were a bit resistant but ultimately ended up making it happen for us so that we had about 30 minutes to freshen up from our travels before our tea service. The tea service was not quite what we expected, and a bunch of other people have reviewed that. I didn't notice anything seeming like it had been in the freezer, and I thought all the cakes and sandwiches were tasty and high quality. The tea offering was broad, and we enjoyed ourselves. I do wish a little bit that we'd had a bit more of a private area than being seated right in the sitting room, on the couch, but oh well. It's a beautiful room, just full of other people randomly walking in or sitting there reading the newspaper and it made us feel like we had to really be extra silent (not that we would be loud) and like we couldn't relax. While tea was not quite what we had hoped it would be, the rest of our stay was perfectly fine. The room was clean, well-appointed, and you can tell that the management is thoughtful. There was a nice umbrella for us to borrow in the closet, which we took advantage of, even though we had brought our own mini umbrellas. This was so much nicer for walking around with. The daily two bottles of water were also a god-send, and the wifi was reliable and fast. We had no problem streaming our favorite show in the evening or uploading hundreds of our vacation photos. We did stop by their bar for happy hour one night, and the bartender was quick, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. She was great! The appetizers were yummy, too - mini meatballs, a cheese plate, and stuffed mushroom caps. I would recommend this for business travelers, couples, or adults just visiting the city. If you need to be close to downtown or the Mall, this is a great spot.
