The Herons Rest Townhouse Bed & Breakfast Galway

My stay at The Heron’s Rest was truly exceptional.|From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth, genuine kindness, and a level of care that immediately made me feel at home. The rooms are beautifully designed, spotless, and extremely comfortable — a perfect blend of charm, elegance, and thoughtful details.||The location couldn’t be better: right on the Long Walk, with peaceful waterfront views and just a short stroll from Galway’s vibrant city centre. It’s the ideal base to enjoy the city while still feeling tucked away in a calm, scenic corner.||I was especially impressed by the sustainable approach of the property. Everything is carefully considered, from eco-friendly amenities to the emphasis on local, responsible products. The gourmet breakfast hamper was a highlight — filled with fresh, high-quality local ingredients: homemade marmalade, artisan bread, salmon from the Burren Smokehouse, organic yoghurt, fresh fruit… an absolute delight and a wonderful way to start the day.||The Heron’s Rest is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience crafted with passion, authenticity, and heart. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will absolutely return on my next trip to Galway.

Our stay at the Heron’s Rest was wonderful! It was really special to be on the Long Walk and stroll through the Spanish Arch every day. The location was perfect to visit the Latin Quarter and we enjoyed walking to Salthill. The owner had a detailed digital welcome booklet that had great information - from how to use certain appliances to fantastic nearby dining locations. After spending the days exploring, it was lovely to be able to come back to such a welcoming, clean, and quiet accommodation. We're so glad this is where we stayed - highly recommend!

Review for: The Heron’s Rest Courtyard Townhouse; Two night stay Shower/Bathroom Faucet: Very weak water pressure so taking a shower/brushing teeth etc was not a good experience. Owner was pretty diligent in trying to figure out the issue, which apparently had something to do with the water lines being worked on. Location: Great location, close to all the action in downtown Galway. Parking: Great! No issues. Breakfast Hamper: Great! We did request early check in a few months in advance but were not granted early check-in, which is fine. But hopefully we will see our 50 Euros back for this as we had to prepay this fee. Will update review as needed. Bed/Bedding/Linens: Very comfortable.

Truly a beautifully unique experience! Spacious, great location, sooo clean, the yummiest breakfast and a thoughtful guide book that got us started around Galway fast. Seriously great recommendations from Sorcha especially Sheridan's cheese ! Loved everything about staying and intend to stay again.

Just a delightful experience from the moment we entered until we left. Charming, spotless, modern, thought-of-everything place in the most stunning location in Galway - literally all the windows look out onto the river as it empties into the bay. We watched - and charted - the tides, which was more entertaining than you might think. We stayed in the 2BR, 4 floor townhouse - one room per floor - and wanted for literally nothing - the 'breakfast hamper' idea is the best IDEA EVER for a vacation stay - we had eggs, ham, cheese, yogurt, granola, milk, and bread - and coffee! - for our first several days without giving it a thought. The bedrooms are beautiful and SUPER comfortable; we love nothing more than an open window and these were perfect. Can't recommend highly enough. The location alone is literally unbelievable. Note: we are walkers and we walked everywhere. You are very close - 5 minutes walk - to the bottom of Quay Street (the street full of pubs and buskers), but 10-15 minutes to wonderful neighborhoods and sights.

We loved staying here! The location is perfect. It’s super easy to get to many main areas. We walked from the train station, which was about a 10 minute walk. The townhouse is wonderfully laid out and beautifully decorated. We so appreciated the breakfast items that were waiting for us. That is a huge selling point in an of itself. The espresso machine was awesome to have. The one thing that we did not anticipate is the attraction of the house itself. A lot of people would stop to read the awards on the outside wall, as well as look at the house because it was in an Ed Sheeran video, Galway Girl. When we were in the kitchen, it was a little awkward as people would stand right there on the sidewalk looking in. The app that they provide has so much great information. It was super helpful. The management people were super helpful as well. We would absolutely come back to this townhouse again.

Wonderful stay at Heron's Rest unit #16. We are a retired couple from the USA, traveling with our adult son. The Heron's Rest turned out to be a perfect base for our three night stay in Galway. Everything was great, from the easy booking and check-in, to the fantastic location just a very short walk to the Spanish Arch, to the the beautiful view of the river from the front window in the living room, and the delicious breakfast basket (really, more like a stocked kitchen with meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, granola, coffee, tea, and more). They really thought of and provided everything to make our stay a wonderful experience. Additionally, the secure car park was just a short drive, or a quick walk through a courtyard away. Very convenient. We will definitely stay at Heron's Rest again the next time we're in Galway.

Wonderful stay! I highly recommend this place. Easily walkable to shops, restaurants and bars. It had everything we needed and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. As an extra special bonus, our host provided breakfast foods that took into account our son’s allergies. We are sincerely grateful for that care and concern! We would definitely like to come back for another stay.
