Just a delightful experience from the moment we entered until we left. Charming, spotless, modern, thought-of-everything place in the most stunning location in Galway - literally all the windows look out onto the river as it empties into the bay. We watched - and charted - the tides, which was more entertaining than you might think. We stayed in the 2BR, 4 floor townhouse - one room per floor - and wanted for literally nothing - the 'breakfast hamper' idea is the best IDEA EVER for a vacation stay - we had eggs, ham, cheese, yogurt, granola, milk, and bread - and coffee! - for our first several days without giving it a thought. The bedrooms are beautiful and SUPER comfortable; we love nothing more than an open window and these were perfect. Can't recommend highly enough. The location alone is literally unbelievable. Note: we are walkers and we walked everywhere. You are very close - 5 minutes walk - to the bottom of Quay Street (the street full of pubs and buskers), but 10-15 minutes to wonderful neighborhoods and sights.

Wonderful stay at Heron's Rest unit #16. We are a retired couple from the USA, traveling with our adult son. The Heron's Rest turned out to be a perfect base for our three night stay in Galway. Everything was great, from the easy booking and check-in, to the fantastic location just a very short walk to the Spanish Arch, to the the beautiful view of the river from the front window in the living room, and the delicious breakfast basket (really, more like a stocked kitchen with meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, granola, coffee, tea, and more). They really thought of and provided everything to make our stay a wonderful experience. Additionally, the secure car park was just a short drive, or a quick walk through a courtyard away. Very convenient. We will definitely stay at Heron's Rest again the next time we're in Galway.

We loved staying here! The location is perfect. It’s super easy to get to many main areas. We walked from the train station, which was about a 10 minute walk. The townhouse is wonderfully laid out and beautifully decorated. We so appreciated the breakfast items that were waiting for us. That is a huge selling point in an of itself. The espresso machine was awesome to have. The one thing that we did not anticipate is the attraction of the house itself. A lot of people would stop to read the awards on the outside wall, as well as look at the house because it was in an Ed Sheeran video, Galway Girl. When we were in the kitchen, it was a little awkward as people would stand right there on the sidewalk looking in. The app that they provide has so much great information. It was super helpful. The management people were super helpful as well. We would absolutely come back to this townhouse again.

Wonderful stay! I highly recommend this place. Easily walkable to shops, restaurants and bars. It had everything we needed and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. As an extra special bonus, our host provided breakfast foods that took into account our son’s allergies. We are sincerely grateful for that care and concern! We would definitely like to come back for another stay.

The Heron's Rest was our final stop on a Mayo and Galway based road trip around that section of the Wild Atlantic Way. We wanted something different after three hotels. Somewhere we could relax without having to go down to the bar or residents' lounge; somewhere we could pitch up to during the day and just have a quiet sit down or read; somewhere we also felt was an exceptional standard and somewhere close to the centre of Galway with safe off road parking. We arrived at the Heron's Rest full of anticipation - the reality and the follow-up service blew us away. Five Stars isn't enough of a score to rate our experience from beginning to right now, some two weeks after our departure.|Starting with the Heron's Rest concept and our experience during the stay. Sorcha provides what to us is a new concept and one which could become a new description for such accommodation - Contactless Bed & Breakfast. Check-In is remote via a key box and Sorcha provides the access code before your arrival via social media. Food for breakfast (although there was sufficient for a light supper too - we made smoked salmon omelettes one night after a long day sightseeing) plus fruit juice, wine, cereals, yoghurts etc was already placed in the refrigerator. Everything was high quality from local suppliers - another tick in our book. The sitting area and kitchen were extremely well equipped and furnished and immaculately clean. All in all it was a delight to come back after a day or half day sightseeing, sit down and read or have a short break before heading out again. If we visit Galway again this will be our chosen place to stay.|Now for the post visit experience. On leaving Heron's Rest our next stop was Kilcock for coffee en route to Dublin Port for our ferry home. It was at this moment that I realised my camera and the bag containing our travel documentation were not in the car. I'd left them in the car park back at the Heron's Rest. Fortunately we had the travel documents saved to our phones, so the issue was how to retrieve the camera and my bag. A quick phone call to Sorcha and she checked the car park and had found the missing items. Since our return she has parcelled the missing items up and mailed them back to us. This has involved two separate mailings as the battery for the camera had to be mailed separately. So our wonderful experience of the Herons Rest has continued well after we departed. Please do try Herons Rest if you're travelling to Galway but do remember to take all your belongings with you when you leave unless, of course, you want to experience such high quality service first hand.

We enjoyed our stay immensely -- a beautiful view of the river and central location to great restaurants and fun attractions. Very, very walkable which we loved! Super clean -- and the host is very responsive and helpful. Totally recommend!

Staff was helpful, especially with a last minute booking. Space was comfortable and enough for to make breakfast easy. Safe and easy parking. Only issues was the street staying pretty busy, so a good amount of street noise later into the night (we had clear weather so lots of folks out). And the wash/dry machine never really dried the clothes. If you don't like stairs, toss wouldn't work, but otherwise comfortable.

Truly the best place I have ever stayed in Galway City. The house was beautiful, private, filled with every amenity you could think of, comfortable beds, great view...the list goes on and on! I would 10/10 stay here again and I absolutely will in the future.
