The Herons Rest Townhouse Bed & Breakfast Galway

We loved staying here! The location is perfect. It’s super easy to get to many main areas. We walked from the train station, which was about a 10 minute walk. The townhouse is wonderfully laid out and beautifully decorated. We so appreciated the breakfast items that were waiting for us. That is a huge selling point in an of itself. The espresso machine was awesome to have. The one thing that we did not anticipate is the attraction of the house itself. A lot of people would stop to read the awards on the outside wall, as well as look at the house because it was in an Ed Sheeran video, Galway Girl. When we were in the kitchen, it was a little awkward as people would stand right there on the sidewalk looking in. The app that they provide has so much great information. It was super helpful. The management people were super helpful as well. We would absolutely come back to this townhouse again.

Wonderful stay at Heron's Rest unit #16. We are a retired couple from the USA, traveling with our adult son. The Heron's Rest turned out to be a perfect base for our three night stay in Galway. Everything was great, from the easy booking and check-in, to the fantastic location just a very short walk to the Spanish Arch, to the the beautiful view of the river from the front window in the living room, and the delicious breakfast basket (really, more like a stocked kitchen with meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, granola, coffee, tea, and more). They really thought of and provided everything to make our stay a wonderful experience. Additionally, the secure car park was just a short drive, or a quick walk through a courtyard away. Very convenient. We will definitely stay at Heron's Rest again the next time we're in Galway.

Couldn’t be happier with our stay at Heron’s Rest! Wonderful accommodation for a family, we were able to have our own space and space to be together. Having the breakfast hamper worked perfectly and we took advantage of walking to the Saturday market to add more to our supply. Great location, close to the lively action on Quay street and easy walk to Eire Square and the cathedral. It’s right on the water, so while you are close to the action, it is also a quiet respite and nice to hear the birds. I was so happy to have the opportunity to make a contribution to plant a tree… it felt good to leave a positive mark behind. LOVED IT…HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Super spot for a great time in Galway! The Heron's Rest is just brilliant- the host was superb, the accommodation a cosy home from home. The view across Galway Bay was priceless and the location is perfect for exploring Galway City, Salthill or even, further afield. Loved the food hamper - delicious, quality Irish produce! The place was spotless and had all that we needed for our stay. All in all a perfect spot.

Staff was helpful, especially with a last minute booking. Space was comfortable and enough for to make breakfast easy. Safe and easy parking. Only issues was the street staying pretty busy, so a good amount of street noise later into the night (we had clear weather so lots of folks out). And the wash/dry machine never really dried the clothes. If you don't like stairs, toss wouldn't work, but otherwise comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay in Galway, and our accommodation at the Herons Rest was perfect. We were delighted to discover some thoughtful touches like local jam and butter in the fridge, and a loaf of bread from a nearby bakery. The downstairs is living space with a sofa and chairs, and a kitchen with bar seats. The kitchen is well appointed, with all you need to make a simple meal. The upstairs is the bedroom and bathroom. There is plenty of space to put your luggage and hang clothing. The location is really the best--just steps from the rushing Corrib river and the Latin Quarter, and an easy walk to the town center and train station

We had a wonderful stay at The Herons Rest! A beautiful house in a super location with fantastic service — everything was smooth and uncomplicated from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Galway!

The Heron’s Rest is the best of the dozens of accommodations in which we've stayed over the past 17 years. Its location on the Long Walk is unbeatable: the views are terrific and it’s a stone’s throw from the shops, bars, cafés, restaurants, and bustling scenes of both the West End and the Latin Quarter of Galway. The lovely townhouse itself is spacious, and well organized. Delicious food and drink awaited us when we arrived. Sorcha, the owner, was very accessible both by WhatsApp and in person. If we return to Galway—and we probably will because we loved it—we would stay again at the Heron’s Rest without a second’s hesitation.
