The Hickory Shack Simons Town

Visited Hickory Shack on Sunday for lunch. What a treat a Carnivore delight. We started with drinks, they have their own Craft Ciders and Craft beer. I had the Cider, a bit cloudy and not too bubbly but tasty. We then ordered our meals. One Pork Ribs, one pulled pork and one Colossal Beef Ribs. I had the pulled pork with chips and coleslaw. This was delicious and large portions, value for money. My friends had the ribs. The Colossal Beef ribs were amazingly soft and deliciously succulent as my mate gave me a taster. Definately had a food envy moment there 😋. I can highly recommend The Hickory Shack in Simonstown on the main road through the town. Pricing is good with good size portions for the hungry. They also have vegetarian options for the Non Carnivores. A great selection of drinks available with an on site brewery. Will definitely return. I rate this place 8.5 / 10

The food is great, really unique tastes, the tasting platter give you a great combination of what they can achieve in this kitchen, it is great to see a bit of breakaway from the normal South African staples and sea food as expected in Simons Town, the smoked cheesecake is really awesome, next time I will order desert first. The beer selection is brilliant, you get a very true journey of beer with the beer taster, try the Lady R's cargo for something different and refreshing, The staff is very friendly and the service was professional, prompt and very efficient. Word of advice, safe space for the Cheesecake and O yes, their cappuccino was yummy

Had a great lunch, waiter was good, food came out quickly! We all enjoyed our meals! Highly recommend the brisket its beautiful! Very good hearty food, it you love meat! The deserts were also good! The only problem was the flies, I did suggest they burn seranolla candles to get rid of the flies! We understand flies will be anywhere, but there were too many and it was uncomfortable!

Honestly the most surreal restaurant experience. Our waiter Dylan was incredible. We will definitely be back - every day if we could. Food recommendations that wont disappoint: The Texan Twinkies ( Jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon with a BBQ Maple glaze, that glaze! I could drink litres of) The pulled pork tacos were also insane. We even bought some of their Chipotle Mayo to take home. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend

Great meal. We have explored the penguins and walked back into town. This place looked pretty good and I'm so glad we decided to eat here. I'm a meat eater though and through and my wife is veggie. We both enjoyed our meals and our service was great. The owner even chatted to us outside while we waited for our Uber. I would definitely recommend

Awesome atmosphere, inviting staff and an overall ‘lekker’ vibe. Thanks Laura, Marshalle, Elaine & Benny…You Rock! Food is to die for… ribs is a definite! For the beer starter try the ‘taster menu’ and if I could recommend number 1; 3 & 4… currently the ‘Hoppy Pils’, ‘Neiss Weiss’, ‘Just Nuisance’ (personal favourites). From Taco Tuesday to Happy Hour they are ‘Brewering’ it right. Thanks for the awesome experience guys.

Upon entering, we did not have the best first impression. The restaurant itself looks lovely, however the smell was off putting. The entire place smelled like a wet thatch roof. Having visited many restaurants that offer smoked meat options, I can confidently say that none of them smelled like this. We ended up leaving without ordering anything, as the service was slow and there were no cocktail options on the menu.
