The Hideaway at Windermere

This was our 3rd visit and our second time in room 7. Everything about this place is lovely. Richard is a brilliant host and chef, his small team of staff are friendly and professional. The room is well appointed and quiet which for us is a must. The star of the show is the breakfast. Loads of choice and all cooked to order. Cake is also included every day so you wont go hungry. Whilst there we also ordered a packed lunch on 2 days. I thought it was good value at £7.50 for a sandwich (lots of choice of filling), piece of fruit, drink, crisps and 2 x chocolate bars. |The hotel is well placed being near the town, bus stops and train station.

We stayed for two nights in Room 12, this room was spacious and had a spiral staircase down to the bathroom.|A lovely sized room with excellent tea making facilities, well stocked with high end tea and coffee. We were given cake on arrival to enjoy at our leisure. Excellent cooked breakfast cooked to order with a very helpful lady taking our order. Great location for walking into the town centre.|Overall great two days away.

This was the second time we have stayed here and felt I had to leave a review.||The Hideaway is fabulous in everyday, the building itself is lovely with ample parking for guests. The rooms are all lovely and very clean, both rooms we have stayed in have had free standing baths which I love. Coffee and tea facilities in the rooms and freshly baked cakes wrapoed up given to guests at breakfast or on arrival.||Richard is fabulous and always chats when we see him.||It is within walking distance to the town centre and shops and restaurants.||This guest house is a must whenever we visit the lakes.

A girl’s weekend away in Windermere. From booking to arrival, breakfasting to departure, the staff could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The Hideaway is a perfect location, lovely walks in the doorstep, restaurants, pubs and routes to other places. |Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous! We loved getting together in the lounge downstairs for a good catch up and the gardens were beautiful to sit outside in too. Overall a wonderful stay and we would all happily return. What can we say about this place! Absolutely amazing. From the service, to the small details, to the friendly staff, the rooms, cleanliness & location. It has everything. The staff are amazing- so kind & nothing is ever too much, they work so hard and that all stems from great management. You get homemade cakes every day during your stay, such a kind, generous touch. The breakfast every morning is 10/10, a huge selection of cooked breakfasts/ continental choices. We stayed over new year & even had a bottle of Prosecco from the hotel staff, which was just such a lovely touch. The location is great, just a 5 min walk into Windermere and up the hill from Bowness ( if the walk is too much you can easily get a 5 min bus from right outside). Richard the owner, how you have not won more awards I will never know!!! I cannot recommend this place enough. The entire team at the Hideaway are absolutely fabulous, they certainly know how to run a hotel!!! this was our first stay here, and certainly will not be the last! We will be back. This is the second time we've been to the hideaway, and it's fantastic. We won't stop at any other hotel in windermere, we will only stay here. We intend to come here 4 times a year. The owner and staff are lovely, lovely people. The rooms are pristine, the breakfast is lovely, the parking is ample. The best UK hotel we've ever stayed in. Definitely going to keep coming back. A New Year break at a wonderful small hotel. Richard and his team were so attentive without being intrusive and did everything to make our stay super comfortable and just perfect.|The Breakfast was superb and we soooooo enjoyed the daily complimentary cake mmmmm .|Would definitely stay here again though thought twice about the review as don’t want everyone sharing this little gem .

I stayed here with my other half after reading the reviews are we were not disappointed. Richard the owner was a fantastic host, friendly and enthusiastic. He gave us great tips and suggestions on locations and activities. The breakfast was very tasty, the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. They also offer a slice of cake which is which a lovely and generous gesture. Our room was spacious with a king sized bed, we had a very cosy sleep there. We kept raving on about the cleanliness and amenities such as the power shower. The building has great character to it and you can see how much love has been put into it. The location is perfect with Windermere on your doorstep. It’s also has great transport links and is easy to drive to. Thoroughly recommended!
