The Hideaway

We stayed at the Hideaway at the end of October/beginning of November. It was perfect! Within walking distance from the restaurants, shops and Art Museum. Contactless check in. Staff were beyond hospitable and welcoming. They sent a detailed email of all that is need to know before arriving. They provided complimentary water and snacks. Club Room had a water fountain and sun tan lotion. We stayed in room 111 that had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. If you want to stay at a hotel that is adults only, minimal rooms, private and quiet, this is the place. If you love architecture you will love this charming time capsule. The record player is a nice touch to get the true feeling of what Palm Springs was like in the 50s/60s. Free parking is on the street in front of the hotel.

I’m glad we took our friend’s recommendation and booked at the Hideway. This is their favorite place to stay at and is also now our favorite place.||Walking distance to downtown but extremely quiet. My only regret is that we should’ve booked 3 nights instead of 2. It was an old apartment complex and had a kitchenette that you could use if you wanted to. Snack basket was nice and the starter drinks in the fridge. Bed large and comfortable. |Bathroom amenities were adequate and lotion smelled nice. ||It’s a no contact hotel which was different. If you’re self sufficient (which we are), it’s kinda nice. If you need something, they check in several times before and throughout the stay by email or txt anyway. ||21+ and very clear on the rules of “This is a place for people to relax.” So no parties or rowdy crowds or loud obnoxious people by the pool area or anywhere. My kind of traveling.

We spent several day at this resort. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation in a quiet environment with manicured grass and landscaped with native grasses, this is the place. There are 10 rooms at this historic mid-century modern gem. There rooms are big and furnished appropriately. The bathrooms are still in keeping with the theme, so don’t expect modern updates. The rooms have sinks and a retro refrigerator, as well as vintage phonograph. All activity is centered at the pool. Loungers and vintage umbrellas circle the pool. Shade is a premium, but a few fruit trees provide shade. This is a keyless property. Check in and communication with staff is via text with management located at a sister property. This was never an issue for us and in fact contributed to quiet, laid back vibe of the property.

We had a fantastic stay at this house in Palm Springs and can't recommend it enough! The location was perfect for breaking up our journey from Joshua Tree to Los Angeles. It was also great being just a short walk from the main street where a lovely evening market was held. Plus, we appreciated the free street parking which was hassle-free. The house was very charming and comfortable, with all the amenities we needed, such as shampoo, conditioner, and snacks both sweet and savory. The garden and pool were delightful, and we especially appreciated the provided beach towels which allowed us to lounge comfortably on the sunbeds in front of the house. We later discovered that the property was designed by a renowned architect, which added to its charm. One of the highlights of our stay was the record player in the room, which allowed us to set a romantic mood with music. Overall, this house was an oasis of relaxation and fun, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay in Palm Springs.

This hotel is a charming throwback with a great 50’s style that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different era—in the best way possible. The decor throughout, especially in the rooms, was really cool and nostalgic without feeling dated or worn out. Check-in was quick and easy, and the cleaning staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The location was another big plus—just a short walk to shops and restaurants, with convenient parking right outside the garden gate. A couple of downsides: the air conditioning could’ve been more effective. Also, the pool could’ve been cleaned more often, there were quite a few floating bits and pieces that should’ve been cleaned more regularly. Overall, a fun and stylish stay with a few areas for improvement. Would 100% stay again.

Hideaway is the perfect name for this hotel. It hides in plain sight, only 2 blocks from the Palm Springs main streets, walking distance from restaurants, shops and more. The place itself is a blast from the past, with charming mid century designs, very well manicured garden/yard with lots of seating options, and a beautiful pool. The room with a small kitchen, small refrigerator, a breakfast sitting area and even 2 cute armchairs, is medium size and comfortable. Very very very quiet day and night. We had a couple of questions that were swiftly answered by text. We loved it and even though the price is a little high, we will be coming back.

I’m still thinking about our 4 nights at Hideaway. We were there in very hot weather but the pool and AC kept us very comfortable. The place is so cute, we especially loved the outside areas. The gardens and landscaping is perfect. The room is a little tired but definitely in keeping with the mid century vibe. I’m wondering if things change for guests when the place is full, we only shared the hotel with a few other couples. Adults only, which was also appreciated. Just a wonderful stay for a great price, although I’m sure this is variable.

I don't want to tell anyone about this place because it's so wonderful. As a frequent visitor to the desert, my first impression of The Hideaway was magical. It's small, quaint and has the best view of the mountain. I love that it's adults only! The room was beyond clean and had everything you needed for a quick getaway (coffee machine, water and snacks). The AC and heat worked well. We were walking distance from everything and I look forward to my next visit here for NYE.

Deceptive advertising. This hotel engages in deceptive advertising. We booked a suite, of which they claim to have two lovely suites and posted a cute mid-century modern room with a lovely view of the pool area for the alleged suites. The photos lead to my booking for our anniversary. Instead we got literally the ONLY room at the ENTIRE hotel with zero view of the courtyard pool area, a terrible patio area along the back side of the hotel with a view of a massive air conditioning condenser and the washer and dryer used by the cleaning staff plus a dirt pile at the property next door due to a poorly maintained fence shrubbery. And this dreary "suite," room 117, did not have the curated mid-century modern decor shown on the website for a suite. Nor was it a suite, which implies a room separate from the bedroom. It is a studio style room with a kitchenette and couch. Just be honest. To make things worse, we received no warning the main road would be closed for miles due to a special event. Terrible customer service. When I enquired about the availability of the other suite since our suite did not match the advertising, I was told it was booked and they did at least offer a regular room but we already dropped our bags to have dinner and see a show so declined since the advertised suite was not available, not worth coming back to move. No offer to refund the difference in moving from the more expensive suite to a regular room though which is not right. Lastly, the on-site lounge featured on their website is NOT open. I only found this out by calling the off-site contact when we found the lounge locked. Then why not update your website and be honest about amenities you are no longer offering? Deceptive, untrustworthy, avoid. So disappointed for our anniversary trip.

Cute, retro hotel near downtown. No front desk, but check-in via smartphone. A staff worker on-site during the day keeping rooms and property clean, providing extra towels, soap, etc. Stayed in the Desert Queen, the smallest option of the 10 room property, has no front door but a glass slider instead. Clean room, comfortable bed, big stall shower with great pressure. Sink didn't drain well. Nice pool that could be a little cleaner, some bugs and debris, but mostly very nice. Lawn furniture very good. Biggest bummer was street work going on all day during our stay. Noisy, dusty, and had to park further away. Not the property's fault, but they didn't seem interested in making it a little better (discount, dinner voucher...? Nada.)

This has got to be my favorite place to stay in Palm springs. Its location is super convenient, there's only a handful of rooms, nice and quiet, a beautiful pool and outdoor space, and most importantly, there are no children. Booking is easy and checking in is great. No service is the best service when you want to hide away. But honestly, they reached out a few days before to confirm the reservation, provided detailed instructions on how to enter the property, and were very helpful Even from a distance. Being from LA, I've always been skeptical about parking, however, the guest services were right, there's always plenty of street parking nearby and most importantly, it's free. The rooms are nice and spacious with very unique retro vibes. Even though the decor and property are throwback, the mattress, pillows and bed were new and very comfortable. Not to mention the nice touch with some freebie, snacks and drinks. The properties well maintained and the pool is always inviting. I love staying here and will always come back!

Absolutely amazing and gorgeous. Enjoyed our stay here was so perfect. I will be going back. The rooms are spotless and clean so so very quiet. Love this place best ever!

I stayed here for a solo trip this past week. It was awesome. I love the fact that there's a max of 2 guest per room, only 10 rooms, and 21 yrs+ only to stay. It was so peaceful and quite all day and all night. There's plenty of street parking and is only 2 blocks from downtown Palm Springs. I pretty much walked everywhere. I was amazed once I got on the property. It was well kept and beautiful. It really feels like you're stepping back into time. I had room 114 with a king bed. They had the ac going so the room was very refreshing from the 120° outside. I truly enjoyed my stay and I'm looking to bring my husband next time. This might be my go to place for my next solo trip. The TV pulls away from the wall so you can watch it in bed or on the couch. There's a record player in the room, which I didn't use. So bring your favorite records to play (I will next time). The bathroom is old school with blue tile. There is a wet bar with a mini fridge. A small table for two. They also had 2 forks, spoons, knives, plates, bowls, and wine glasses. There were a few other people there but never heard them only when at the pool. All rooms face the pool. You get wonderful sunshine all day but the best time for my room was 5:30-7pm. It was bright and beautiful. Great for taking selfies. I came in contact with the staff a few times and they were very hospitable. A few suggestions: 1. I wish they had a small microwave in the room. So you can heat up your food. 2. I wish they had Netflix/ Hulu and a smart TV. But it was fun watching regular TV and seeing commercials (something I don't see anymore due to streaming services). 3. I wish the pool was open 24hrs, especially since this place is so small. There were times I wanted to go for a swim at midnight. Overall my stay was top notch even with the 3 things I just mentioned. I highly recommend this place.

I'm so glad I chose this special place to stay at during my Palm Springs visit. I typically stay at chain hotels just for the convenience and the familiarity, but something about this place looked unique and it did not disappoint at all. The property and the rooms are exactly how they're described and shown on their social media. It felt like I was stepping back in time because the room had such amazing little details everywhere. From a real record player with records, to the original bathroom and mid century furniture. It felt swanky and comfortable. I stayed in the Ricky and Lucy suite. The bed was big and comfy and they were even kind enough to provide tasty snacks next to the coffee maker. It's walking distance to some great restaurants and places to grab a cocktail. The pool was not crowded at all, and there was plenty of free parking on the street and the area felt and looked very safe. Overall, it was a great experience and didn't break the bank. Pros: location , vibe, rooms, pool, extras. Cons: The entry to the shower was pretty tight as it is the legit original tile shower and people were smaller back then. Might be an issue for horizontally larger people. Will return and recommend! Great job Hideaway team.

Loved the mid century modern charm...rooms clean and very spacious! Great location within walking distance of everything. Brian was very proactive and attentive to any need and onsite workers were very helpful. So relaxing to walk a few steps to the pool and sit in shaded areas to just read a book and drink a beverage...we will be coming back, thanks!

We reserved this hotel at the last minute and we're not disappointed! Eclectic and beautiful. By a beautiful mountain you can almost touch. To play the record player and listen to Edith Piaf and Funny Girl was such a treat!

The Hideaway was exactly what we needed during a midweek stay in Palm Springs. The property is well kept, quiet and very clean. It's great to come back to a place after going out, and be able to relax without any huge groups. Check in and check out was extremely easy, and we literally didn't have any issues or needed to talk to any staff during our stay. We arrived, and were able to enjoy the property immediately. We definitely will be back in the future, and hope that the Hideaway doesn't change!

Stayed this weekend to celebrate my mom for Mother's Day. What a lovely, quiet, relaxing hotel. Super easy self-check in and the folks who work here are super responsive to text. Comfortable rooms, snacks, free coffee, and a clean, heated pool to swim in. 10/10 stay from start to finish. We loved it so much that we're planning to come back next month!

Our stay at the Hideaway was an exceptional experience, what a special treat! Small, cozy Historic mid century complex is adults-only, and about 10 units (We had #121 - Lucy & Ricky's Getaway). Beautiful room with period touches but also modern amenities. Personal touches abound during our stay! Treats on the counter and bottled water and soda in the fridge! Vinyl record player! So quiet and peaceful, perfect for champagne by the pool at night! And all this 2 blocks away from everything on Palm Canyon Drive. Karima and her staff made sure we were taken care of with a smile! Can't wait to be back! THANK YOU!

My boyfriend and I was in town for a friend's birthday, and we wanted to book a hotel that was 5 min walk away from downtown palm springs where all the bars and restaurant was located, and we came across The Hideaway! From other past yelp reviews and pictures, it looked very cute and had a fun, funky mid-century vibe to it! What sold me personally was the record player in each room would had. We had a very easy, and smooth check in! Their staff is very on top of making sure your check in is smooth, and came with very clear instructions! There was free parking in the front, which was wonderful because it wasn't crowded at all, we can go to our back and forth whenever we wanted to grab stuff, and it was such a nice 5 min walk straight down to the strip with all the bars, we actually prefer this than having a hotel garage to park in/or valet services. The parking in the front has free parking so no need to worry about time restrictions, it's free everyday- which is happy :) (we are from LA, so a nice change lmao) We checked into our room at 3pm Yesterday (their usual check-in time, as their check out time is 11am so it gives their staff plenty time to maintain the rooms for their next guest to be ready), and it was such an easy process! We were given a code to get in, and our room was unlocked, ready for us to stay! Everything was in perfect, clean shape! fyi- there is no office on site of hotel i believe but it was actually nice preference because it gave an extra privacy vibe that a lot of hotels done usually allow for their guests as some hotels can be very nosey and busy but this one was very quit and peaceful hehe. And, there is no beverage or food services at the hotel BUT, we honestly prefer that as we brought our own drinks and snacks, and as long as you're respectful, and clean up after yourself as you should- it won't be a problem. And, if needed assist, their staff is simply near by at their offices and they're very on top to their communication with their guests so it works wonderful for both parties! But, I called in the hotel staff line to request a record player in our room as there wasn't any, and Karima (Who was the staff that was assigned to assist our stay) had so WONDERFULLY and AMAZINGLY generously offered to find us one immediately for our room, and then reached out to offer us a free UPGRADE to the large studio room, which contained a record player, so we could have a even greater experience. Turns out, the hotel was closed on the next day of our stay (a Sunday) and was in the process of getting some of their rooms repainted so that's why our original room (which was a smaller studio) didn't have a record player. The large studio had one, and was available for us to stay in because it was in the process to scheduled a repaint the day we checked out (which was the next day, Sunday, as we checked in on Saturday). Karima was so sweet, professional, well communicative and friendly, and absolute gem for being giving us a room upgrade for free, especially cause it was available. We would have been fine with staying at ours original room or without a record player (I am just huge fan of record players and i even brought some of my own vinyls as i prepare for our stay hehe). I told her it was okay if our room didn't because i maybe misread somewhere and thought those may be for the larger studios or private suites! She even so kindly asked if we wanted the blue tape removed from each wall (they were there for the painters to knows walls needed to be repainted as the room again was getting repainted and redone once we would check out), and of course, we didn't mind it as it was no big deal to us! We were just grateful for such already great start to our one night stay! But still, so sweet of Karima to check in with us! Karima was wonderful by hooking us up, and we had such an amazing time staying!! It's so quiet, peaceful, we can come and go as we pleased as we went to bars frequently throughout the day, and it's private, every guest is respectful and every staff is very kind. We overhead some guests being regulars and frequently plans their stay here- so that goes to show what a home away from home this hotel was for their guests. We are saddened to only stay one night, and not able to enjoy the pool as our day was slammed with festivities plans with friends! but, best believed we will be back again as my bf and I have a big anniversary coming up end of this summer :) We loved our room, no problems at all, and we are sucker for this type of aesthetic and architecture so it was a nice experience for us, and the larger studio is quite comfy, as well as our sleep and the coziness of it. Plus, the morning sun rise/sun set with those mountains hills in front and back of our hotel? Win win. We had such a wonderful stay, and absolutely can't wait to be back again very soon. We stayed for a weekend of hiking and enjoying the warm winter weather. The room was quaint with nice touches like snacks and drinks in the fridge. I loved the blue tiled bathroom, but if you are a larger person, the shower will be a tight squeeze. Each room has a nice outdoor seating area and the pool was a perfect place to relax after hiking. Really enjoyed the gas fire pit after dark. Highly recommend if you are looking for a small hotel with great views and easy access. Street parking was plentiful.

A legenedary spot dating back almost eighty years. Very well hidden, nice grounds, kitchenettes and a little clubhouse shared by all. Good low noise policy. Don't tell your friends.

This is located down the street from the Orbit In and is their slightly larger and more secluded sister property. I actually liked this location better because it had a large grassy area and the rooms are further back from the pool. Some highlights are complimentary happy hour where you can meet others staying a boh properties (and drink as many orbitinis you want), a clean salt-water pool, and an open kitchen with complimentary drinks and snacks. One thing to note is that it is street parking, so you might have to walk a little if you come back late at night and can't find a close spot. Also, as others noted - the shower might be too small for bigger people. There is also a small breakfast spread in the morning starting at 8 am. There is an assortment of bread, fruit and yogurt to help you start the day. There is a fun, retro vibe here with something for everyone. You can socialize and meet other guests here (mostly couples) or you can keep to yourself and no one minds. The guests were all very respectful and even with a lot of people in the pool, it was comfortable to lounge around and relax. Kevin and his wife (Jin?) were managing both inns while the owners were away and they were both the most accommodating and nicest people I encountered at a hotel. Even the cleaning staff and Anthony, who stood behind the bar making us drinks, were all very friendly. We all felt welcome here and I would not hesitate to return.

What a great get away! Checked in For a night of R&R...easy check in, cozy rooms, and a great pool! Great location next to restaurants and bars, will definitely be back!

It's very hard to find a quiet hotel that caters to just that. This place was so peaceful! We stayed in the Lucy and Ricky suite. The room was spacious, very clean, and had nice decor. The bed was comfortable and we slept so well! The record player in the room was a nice, nostalgic touch. The pool was refreshing in that Palm Springs heat! Location was AMAZING! Everything was in walking distance...restaurants, bars, cigar shop, wine tasting, and so much more. I would definitely stay here again. FYI no kids and must be over 21 to stay. Also, you can social distance easily and don't have to pass people in hallways since there's only 10 rooms and they are all accessed outside like an apartment. Felt very safe even with COVID-19.

We came here on my birthday as a Palm Springs getaway. We always make our way out here, but we usually stay at the larger 4-5 star resorts. I do get tired of the splashing of kids, or the occasional millennial pool partier who thinks it a day time rave. I don't need other people's music or loud music either. This is the sweet serenity of talking and visiting with whom you are with. This is a luxurious modern retreat. It's 21 and over, and it only has 10 rooms. The best part, is that it is straight forward. No front desk, no resort fees, but everything you need in ps. Ice, refrigerator, wet bar, amazing a/c, luxury bedding and coverlets, and that modern style. This place is superbly maintained, and is so incredibly fresh and clean. We felt more relaxed in this bed than any Kimpton or Hyatt hotel. The rooms are spacious and have toiletries and a Keurig for your morning start. The view from our room and the gentil sunlight were the best way to wake up from what was a great stay. We will be back again very soon. The property manager, Angela, was there making sure all was intact. I like that. A historic property deemed and voted in....don't miss this place, but don't like it enough where I can't book a room. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful overnight stay at this little gem. The grounds are peaceful, quiet, and quaint. A beautiful large pool in the center with rafts to use if you like. Our room was sparkling clean. The mid century modern decor is fun and tastefully done. The king size bed was very comfortable. An added bonus is, The Hideaway is in walking distance to downtown. I highly recommend a stay here for a delightful, peaceful getaway. The only minor issue was, no bottles of water in the room/refrigerator as stated. Had we known, we would have brought our own. However, this was very minor, but my reason for 4 stars instead of five.

Can not believe the complete and utter lack of customer service and unprofessionalism displayed by The Hideaway. My group rented out the entire venue for close to $5,000, and had to secure general liability insurance to the tune of $1,000,000 in order to stay here. We are all professionals (fire fighters, attorneys, engineers, doctors and business owners) and were excited to have a weekend away from dealing with COVID for the last five months. Now don't get me wrong- the venue is epic. Super cool midcentury modern that Palm Springs is known for. However things took a turn when Angela, the company's rep decided to drop by at 8:30am Saturday morning, after 15 adults had been up partying all night until the wee hours of the morning. She then sent an email around 10am threatening that we would not be able to stay Saturday night because we left the place too messy. Of course we were nowhere near our email and didn't realize she sent that until she stopped by at 11am to "check up" on us adults. And by that time we were up out of bed, and had the place spotless. Even the sweet housekeeper kicked us out of the kitchen and told us to not worry about cleaning up and that we needed to enjoy ourselves. I've included the condescending email for reference as to how juvenile Angela's tone was towards us, and my response. What really gets me is that I responded to her email (days later) and included someone from the company's management level and almost two weeks later have yet to receive a response. Guess they're too cool to acknowledge and take credit for a mistake. Sucks because we were planning to rent out the entire place again in September but we've decided to spend our money elsewhere.

I have too many good things to say about this place. It's your own private oasis to come and relax. A total of 11 rooms and it seems rarely is everyone here at the same time. Enjoy the fantastic heated pool Often times all to yourself.

This is an incredible oasis for anyone looking for a peaceful and restful recharge. My fiancé and I stayed in Dino's Den, and it felt like a time capsule in the best way! Customer service is top notch, and the location can not be beat. This will be where I stay every time I come into town. Thank you Hideaway for a fabulous vacation!

Five short years ago I was married at The Hideaway. Sadly, they no longer do weddings. Understandably to protect the property and such, but bummer for everyone who won't be able to have a wedding as amazing as ours. After going back for a relaxing anniversary weekend, I can safely say that The Hideaway is hands down, the BEST place to stay in Palm Springs. Okay, so it doesn't have that party scene that The Ace has, but that's a-ok with me. The rooms are all unique (there's only nine rooms), this latest visit we stayed in Pierre's Place and I couldn't have asked for more. Comfy beds, a seating area and quiet at night. Another amazing feature: walking distance to it all. We parked our car on Friday night and didn't get back in it until Sunday to leave. We walked to Copley's. We walked to the various bars and eateries on Palm Canyon. We walked to the casino. And of course not fighting for poolside chairs is fabulous, as is the stocked fridge in the common area for all the guests. The really and truly amazing part? This place knows hospitality. The managers are all kinds of amazing and had a special made "Happy Anniversary Mike & Hazel" sign made for us along with a lovely bottle of wine all waiting in our room upon arrival. If the days of Spring Break Beach House '99 and far behind you, then The Hideaway is definitely the place for you.

We are still staying in house as I write this review! I just had to get on all my review sites and give this place 5 stars. Perfect staycation spot. We are locals who absolutely adore the valley and Palm Springs especially. This place just blew me away, everything was perfect. Thank you Eric, the GM who was present in the hotel but not overly present. He is great, friendly, polite, professional! We stayed in the Lucy and Ricky room farthest room from the gate and it was absolutely perfect for us! Thank you thank you again Hideaway!

I want to start out by first saying that this is a place for people who actually want to spend time at their hotel for an added experience to their vacation. The Hideaway is NOT for people who just need a place to sleep at night. If you're going to spend your vacation cycling, golfing, hiking, etc. and don't care about mid-century architecture, I beg that you find a less thematic place instead of taking up a room here. The Hideaway is literally a vintage picture postcard come to life. Gated for guest access only, The Hideaway is tucked up near the base of Mt. San Jacinto and directly under one of my favorite modern homes, Frey House II. An L-shaped hotel offers a decent sized pool (although not all that deep, four and a half feet) with a variety of lounge chairs, spacious yard area, and a fire pit. Our room had two televisions, including one hooked up to watch movies that were available to rent, free of charge. The wi-fi is easy to use, but was spotty at times. Our room also had a small fridge, a sink outside of the bathroom and microwave. Our room was smaller than other hotel rooms I've been in, however, it didn't feel smaller. Besides, it was much cooler than most of the hotels I've stayed in - complete with vintage furniture and radio and retro dishes. The shared lounge near the back of the hotel was wonderful to enjoy that indoor/outdoor experience since it had a huge sliding door. It also had wonderful mid-century furniture and period photographs of the hotel. Additionally there is a kitchen area that is open 24/7 that includes soda, juice, water and assorted snacks. Speaking of food, the comp. breakfast is pretty okay! No eggs or anything, but a good bread selection of bagels and English muffins and more, as well as yogurt and nearly anything you wanted to put in it. The staff is swell. We got a grand little tour of the place and were informed of all of the things The Hideaway and the Orbit In had to offer, including bicycles! And a bar over at the Orbit where you could sit drinks by the pool. One of my favorite details were the room names, each named after a person important in culture or style to the mid-20th century. The Hideaway is located within walking distance to the heart of downtown Palm Springs and near many of the wonderful bike loops. But is also far enough away from the main drag to remain quite and peaceful in the evenings.

I realized that I did a review last year on the Orbit In but completely forgot about this gem. My husband and I stayed here with some friends. One word: Fabulous. The people who work here are beyond wonderful and accommodating. They took the time to show us the surroundings. The decor is phenomenal. They have a lounge area with full living room and full kitchen. Anything you want, they pretty much have. The pool is a salt water pool. It's a small location with only 10-12 rooms and no kids!!!! Finally, a heaven for adults. Can't wait to return this year!!!!

Love love love this place! My husband is a designer and has a love of mid-century architecture so I thought this would be a nice place to stay. And I was right! He loved it. The shared living space and kitchen are so cute and very authentic. Only thing was when we walked in I almost felt like I was entering a private residence because the people who were sun bathing were staring as we walked into our room area.. a little alien-ish lol

Quiet, no 'muzak' at the pool, love that. Rooms clean and cute. It's true the 'breakfast' is underwhelming, but nice water selection and a water machine. The vacuuming of the rooms -outside their thresholds during prime pool time seems a bit much. Quiet off the main drags but close enough to walk. A very nice time! Clean, relaxing adult ambiance.

I wish more hotels were like this one. Low-key, 21+ only, very quiet, nice salt water pool and the other guests were very friendly. It's very close to walking downtown. We had no problems with parking which was on the street. Continental breakfast was perfect since we are not big breakfast eaters. Each room has its own little patio with table and chairs. A nice place to have breakfast in the morning. And beautiful views of the mountains that's close by. This stay-cation really took us away from the hustle and bustle and traffic of our daily lives. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is the sounds of pipes throughout the night. Which probably won't bother a lot of people except I'm a very light sleeper. A very minor issue. We will definitely be back to the Hideaway!

The Hideaway is an authentic mid-century hotel. It was a real kick to stay there. The furnishings are very comfortable and the breakfast was perfect. It's also in a great location. Has a lovely garden and pool area that's a pleasure to hang out in. TIP: It's much more comfortable than it's more well known sister, Orbit In. We tried to reserve the Orbit In but it was sold out. They offered the Hideaway and we took it reluctantly. So glad we did! Way nicer. Lost a star for the pricing. It's a bit high, even though the posting only shows $$, it should be $$$.

We stay in the Hideaway every time we go to Palm Springs, and it's one of the most enjoyable things about the entire city for us. It's an ultra-stylish, ultra-quiet retreat just 5 minutes' walk from the Palm Canyon drive restaurants and shopping. As noted in other reviews, the Hideaway is meant for a particular kind of traveler who enjoys the experience of staying in their hotel and relaxing, and maybe socializing with other guests at the pool or at the Orbitini cocktail hour at the sister property the Orbit In just down the street. We always choose the Dino's Den room because it has a huge sitting area with enormous windows overlooking the pool, perfect for lounging with a book while listening to mid-century modern appropriate Frank Sinatra albums. There's a kitchenette (a remnant of its late-1940s "motor court" days) but we've never used it; why would you when there are so many excellent restaurants nearby? We also love the friendly, personalized service. Bill and Elaine who manage the place feel more like friends than employees, and we always count on them for recommendations of places to eat and visit. I can't say enough great things about the Hideaway.

This place made our trip to Palm Springs. It's small, intimate, private and so cool. It is so chill to sit by the pool or on the patio and spend hours looking at the hills and the sky. People are friendly but very respectful of each other's space and holiday. When I was there we all pretty much spoke low voices out of respect of everyone's relaxation. The rooms are very Palm Springs modernism. We took advantage of the record player in our room and record library on the shared space and listened to old music with great pleasure (hello Robert Flack, Judy Garland, Simon and Garfunkle and Lou Rawls! It's been a long time.) Place was very clean and very well run. This is an ideal location for couples or friends looking to relax with a book and a view. Not the place for a family or raucous pool party (not that I'm against either of those things, this just isn't the place for it) Heaven.

We came to PS for " Walking tour of the Inns.com" small inns in the old downtown area of PS. This year 14 hotel/ inns on the tour. This location was NOT on the tour but sister property "Orbit Inn" was. We decide to stay here so as not to be on the tour itself. The room was nice, clean and very 1950 ish. The property was very nice and clean. The hospitality breakfast and stocked refrigerator for guest was appreciated. All the inns on the tour were with in 3-4 blocks of the location. Free walking tour to benefit Toys for Tots and this was a great location. Will be back next year and probably sometime prior.

This place is really a great escape from home and even from Palm Springs Drive just down the street. I really can't say anything but praise for The Hideaway. Eric and his staff keep the rooms and the grounds clean and tidy. Each room has it's own unique character and furniture. You're not going to see the same thing twice here. Record players are provided in every room and they have a wide selection of records to borrow to play. There are televisions in the room too, but we didn't use them at all. The kitchenettes are handy for making cocktails or for bringing back your leftovers from having dinner on the strip. The place is very quiet, even when people are moving around outside and using the pool. The pool! This pool is great. It's only a few feet deep, 4 I believe. There are plenty of pool loungers and chaise lounges around the pool to relax in which is necessary during the extreme heat months in the summer. The trip was made extra special when I spoke to Eric about a week before arriving and letting him know my plans for proposing to my girlfriend. He was very excited and offered to pick up champagne (Moët) and flowers and other decor. I took him up on the offer and he had the room set up for us as a surprise when we returned after I proposed. The price is incredible too! I hope they are able to keep these prices. It's about the same price to go here and get this kind of treatment as it is to go to a Best Western in the San Fernando Valley. And The Hideaway blows any chain out of the water. If you can handle the heat, the best prices are in the Summer months, and it's worth it. Thanks Eric for the hospitality!

Just like its sister property The Orbit In, The Hideaway is a fantastically preserved midcentury gem. Perfectly located within walking distance to everything and somewhat quieter than Orbit, it was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in Dino's Den and loved loved LOVED everything about it. The furnishings were perfect. The blue and white original tiles in the bathroom were darling. There is a tiny kitchenette with a stove and fridge, and a large sitting area that looks out to the pool and the mountains beyond. Wonderful patio outside the front door. The owners go out of their way to provide you with anything you might need. There is a kitchen near the pool that is stocked with coffee, tea, yogurt, snacks, sodas and bottled water. All free. There is a game and movie closet. In our room were Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett CD's. They've thought of everything. Service, as always, was fantastic. We will return to the Hideaway any time we're in Palm Springs.

We love this place. We have stayed here several times and love how quaint and quite this place is. Not only is the exterior, mid century modern, but the rooms are decorated in that era. Each room even has a record player and the front desk has a good collection of vinyls. There is a continental breakfast next to the pool and the mini pool area kitchen always has pops, juice, water, coffee available. The staff and owners are great. The next best thing is the 2 block walk to the main shopping and restaurant area in down town Palm Springs.

We had our wedding this May at this wonderful hotel! Many of our friends and family have commented on how amazing it was! I was looking for a place with a distinct setting and that would accommodate our intimate wedding of 50. We wanted a weekend place where no one could bother us and we has use of the entire grounds. Jade and Michael that manage the Hideaway & the Orbit In down the street were so helpful and made sure everyone was taken care of. They were superb! We had most of the rooms at the Orbit too! The setting was beautiful! The staff amazing! The hotel very well manicured and clean. The rooms are all special and well maintained. Everything went perfectly and I would highly recommend this establishment! We're already planning a reunion with our friends later this year!

2 years ago my brother and sister-in-law got married at the Hideaway and the experience left a lasting impression on me (extremely positive). This past weekend I spent the weekend in the Dino Suite and it was another terrific experience. Jade and Bill provide terrific customer service, the location is great (about 2 blocks from downtown Palm Springs) and the facilities are top shelf. A great place to stay, I'm looking forward to my next trip to Palm Springs!

We LOVE the Hideaway! They treat you like family and you feel right at home. The cocktail hour was one of the best parts of our stay, your glass never empties and you have an endless array of snacks. And the continental breakfast was awesome; Coffee, tea, juice, bagels, yogurt, oatmeal, and fruit. Plus they let you have access to the lounge and kitchen for water, and soda!!! It's the little things like that, that make a hotel great! My husband and I came for the decor (which is awesome) but we left falling in love with such an hidden oasis in the desert! It's definitely going to be a yearly tradition for us from now on!!

Best hotel experience I've ever had. This is a small property - only 10 rooms surrounding the gorgeous courtyard with a beautiful saltwater pool. The owner and GM take amazing care of the property and really care for the guests. The rooms are decked out in mid-century furnishings, and the beds are very comfortable. There's a kitchen available to all guests with a stocked fridge and snacks that you can grab at any time. They have a continental breakfast each morning. There are bikes available for guests to use at their convenience. And I can't forget the nightly Orbitini happy hour they put on at the sister property, Orbit In, just a couple blocks down. It's a very quick walk to downtown, but when you're at the hotel it feels so quiet, calm, and peaceful that you forget you're in a resort town. It was our first stay in Palm Springs, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the future.

This place was great! Location is incredible, walking distance from countless restaurants and bars. The small number of rooms and 21+ only policy made for an incredibly relaxing, low-key weekend. The management is very friendly. Even the small touch of having ice cold filtered water available in the kitchen was fantastic. I'm looking forward to staying at the sister location, Orbit In, which has the same vibe.

This place was awesome! So much was included for a very reasonable price. We got it for $159/night on the weekend. The room was very nice with an extremely comfortable bed and great air conditioning (which you really need in the summer). (Note: It is vintage style, and things are smaller; so it might be difficult to be comfortable if you are very tall or wide. The door into the shower seemed about 3 feet wide, although that was fine for us.) Anyways, you can rent bikes for free to explore the town, which is very close by. You can easily walk everywhere you want to go too. Bill, the owner, is very helpful and friendly; he gave us some great restaurant recommendations. The pool is awesome, and they have high quality floating beds available. There is a little lounge, where they have snacks, soda, and sunscreen, all available for free. They have a free happy hour every day, 5-6pm. And the vintage style of it all is quite charming. No kids are allowed, so it is a very tranquil environment, great for a couples' getaway. I highly recommend it!

Stayed in Herb's Hideaway room. Welcoming staff and was given a tour of the grounds. You can borrow bikes here and they have a free cocktail hour from 5-6 at the Orbit In where you can have an orbitini or 3 and meet other people. There's a saline, heated pool. There's a fire pit that turns on with a timer. You have access to sodas like 7up and coca cola, tea, and snacks like crackers, cookies, and pretzels in the common kitchen area. In the morning from 8-10, they put out juices, coffee, bagels, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal... They have a closet with board games you can borrow. There's a common area where you can borrow records! The room was cool, mid century style with a tv, dvd player, record player, a living room area with a couch, a table, and a chair. It has a king bed and the place was nice and clean and quiet. The kitchen area has a sink, stove with oven, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, toaster, cabinets with dishes and utensils including an old school mixer. There's a small hallway area with cabinets to store things, an iron, ironing board, a safe, and a hangers and two robes. The bathroom is kept original to the period with blue tiles, blow dryer, soap, and towels for the restroom and pool. The door to the shower is a bit narrow, but left to it's original 1947 standards. There's a little private patio outside with a lounge chair, a table, two chairs, and table. We enjoyed a 3 night stay and had night swims with the pool to ourselves for this time of year.

Same owners as the Orbit In... Both are fantastic! The hideaway seems to be a bit more quiet. But both have everything you need, from suntan lotion, bikes, records for the record player in each room, fridge full of soda, coffee, teas... You name it! Each room is themed , mine is the Risom room, all have that mid century modern vibe, with great furniture. The owner and staff are awesome! 2 blocks to downtown, easy walk. They provide Orbitinis at happy hour for all guest at the Orbit In. A great place to relax!

It's like staying in a mid-century dream home. We had the best time riding their bikes into town, swimming in the salt-water pool and dining on the better than you'd expect continental breakfast. the rooms were super clean and the bed was super soft. All and all, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be returning on our next trip.

Stayed for a 3 day weekend in Palm Springs. We absolutely LOVED this place. It's really quiet, unassuming, with a wonderful retro vibe. All the rooms have record players, the pool is a salt water pool, the aircon works. Rooms are beautifully furnished in mid century modern style. It's just well put together and the staff is fantastic, attentive and very kind. One thing we really loved was the setting...it's right against the mountain and just a stunning vista. We absolutely will stay there or at the Orbit In again. Thanks Bill. We will be back!!1

I'm not sure about all this "renting out for weddings only" business is about. What I know is that we stayed there one night in late May. I called and a lovely man answered the phone and offered me a great room at a fair price on short notice. We arrived around 6 pm and checked in at the Orbit Inn a few doors down. Right then, the Orbit Inn was having free happy hour with snacks and free drinks. After they plied my husband and I with much free wine, we went to our room at The Hideaway. When I opened the door to our room, I almost dropped to my knees. As a mid-mod nerd, the room couldn't have been more perfect. Vintage furnishings, plates, cups, original tile in the bathroom. And outside? Vintage patio furniture (the same I have at my house!), a gorgeous pool, a kitchen stocked with snacks, sodas, water, and coffee, and a living room full of photos of the place from way back when. I can't wait to go back.
