Unfortunately, our experience was not a good start to the day. The way we were treated felt argumentative rather than customer-oriented.
First, the water in the restroom was not working, and we were told there was a city-wide water issue. While I understand this is not the restaurant’s fault, it naturally raised concerns about hygiene.
Regarding our order: my husband ordered a sandwich with egg as a side, clearly meaning that it should not be inside the sandwich. We explained this carefully and also pointed to the menu. I then ordered an omelette with feta as “a side as well, not inside”, again explaining it clearly and showing the menu.
However, when my omelette arrived, the feta was not visible. When I asked about it, another staff member said it had been put inside and told me that I should have said “on the side” instead of “showing menu” without knowing full conversation. They gave feta additionally but It felt really blaming rather than understanding.
Even if there was a misunderstanding, a simple and flexible response such as “Sorry, it seems there was a misunderstanding, we’ll fix it” would have been much more appropriate—especially since it was a very small portion of feta.
Overall, the atmosphere felt tense, as if the staff were unhappy or having a bad day. As guests on vacation, we were hoping for a more relaxed and welcoming experience.
Update:
Thank you for the response.
Mistake happens in such a big places even sometimes. It’s not a problem at all for me and I appreciate the apologise.
For the second occasion, it was insisted couple times that I should have ordered “on side” even after I have been told that feta would be served. That’s why I felt blamed and wanted to make it clear here.
