It's the only hotel in the area so there's little competition unless you want to spend hours driving in order to go hiking. Its origins as a place for workers to live while working on nearby dams shows-rooms are small, and plain. Plan on eating there for dinner and breakfast. And paying dearly for any coffee or snacks that you purchase. ||Dinner service was slow, but you served yourself from the buffet for breakfast. Their packed lunch was generous with sandwiches, fruit, drinkable yogurt, juice, and a candy bar. ||The heat would not turn on in the first room I was assigned so they changed my room which turned out to be larger (a bonus because there was minimal space between the bed and walls in the first room).

We stayed a single night so we could cross iceland on the F26 the next day. We had the economy room, very small, but had a bathroom with a toilet and shower. The bed was good and we spent the evening in the TV room/ lounge. The breakfast buffet was great.

Stayed here one night in early June as part of a small group tour. A single story establishment in a remote area. For the first but not the last time we were met by a sign asking us to remove our shoes/boots or wear plastic booties over our shoes. Apparently an Icelandic tradition and one that makes sense in an area were guest are likely to spend a lot of time hiking. My wife found her sandals handy to wear around the building. |The room was adequate. The hot water supplied to the bath was provided by a small water heater installed near the ceiling of the bathroom and somewhat limited in the amount of hot water available, adequate but limited. The view from the room looked out across a landscape but was framed by the wings of the building.|As we were arriving early in the season the restaurant had a limited menu, primarily burgers. There was a vegetarian meal available.|Breakfast was a buffet with an excellent variety and well presented.

Room was ok but breakfast included, WHAT BREAKFAST. IT WAS SERVED 7AM UNTIL 10.30AM. We got there at 9.15 and there was nothing to eat except the last remains of a end bit of bread. 3 slices of ham, cheese that even the mice would run from. No bowls. The girl behind the counter was to busy playing hide and seek with us. £242 for one night.

Stopped in for breakfast. It was literally the only place open for miles upon miles. Staff was friendly, and everything was clean - that's the only reason it got 3 stars. Sorry to say, it's the worst breakfast we've gotten in Iceland.

I think that there is another hotel near here. The only 2 good things about the place are the food and it's clean. No access to coffee or hot water before 7 am (unless called the emergency number. That is what I was told my option was). Really? No where to place suitcases , so we pulled down the Murphy bed to access our suitcase contents. The mattress was awful. I asked for some sort of extra padding. I was handed 4 pillow cases. This was after I tried to explain to the manager that 2 small airline pillows just wouldn't work. So, we left a day early (losing the $300 per night rate). You are close to the turn-off to go to the National Park. I would rather have stopped for dinner, used the bathroom, and slept in my car. At least I would have the $300.

After a long day driving through the beautiful but exhausting Icelandic expanse, we find a location that for some unknown and probably benine reason requires us to wear shoe coverings or take them off entirely(while reasonable in case of dirty shoes was irrelevant to us as we'd spent the last 5 hours driving and thus had clean shoes) and after finding our rooms tiny and the amenities cheap we pass a bathroom requiring money paid, a gift shop and half of the morning buffet to find a loud, echoing restaurant where we waut to get seated(ofcourse with plenty sitting space withing sight) and as we'd not eaten since breakfast we were all eager to order our food. I personally had the beef but asked to have the mashed potatoes substituted with fries, something which the kitchen was unwilling to do, another point against the restaurant and staff which was soon to be followed with the very worst offence, the sheer waiting time and portion size was completely unacceptable for a reasonable establishment, we'd sat down at 19:40, ordered at 19:45 and 3/4ths of our order arrived at 20:50, at which point several other tables had gotten seated served and left, my sibling was unfortunately left out and had to wait till 21:10 to receive their food, a fact which was especially distressing to us since we'd again not eaten since the morning and we're all pale with hunger at this point. The portion size was laughable and the fries amount provided with the burger did not number more than 10 Still my sibling had to wait and watch us eat before recieving their food. Also the morning buffet is from 7 till 9 which is incredibly early when you're enjoying your vacation. Tldr uncomfortable experience, bad service, laughable amenities and worst experience on the whole of Iceland during our vacation.

Quickly stopped here for a nice latté, Apple cake (with lots of apples - my last apple cakes only had a few shavings on top), Pavlova & and waffles Everything we ordered was very good and priced as everywhere else in Iceland. Actually, the latté was only 650 kr compared to the 850kr we usually paid. The washrooms are 150kr, but they are very clean. For a quick coffee stop, it's a great place in the middle of nowhere.
