We are a big group, booked 4 different type of rooms at Highland center, all rooms in Highland center are well equiped and very clean with fantastic view, breakfast is great with everything we want. The staff in Highland center are very helpful, especially Castro. I lost my glasses in the hotel, he even stepped out of his way, travel to Reykjavik to post it to Norway, my next destination (there's no post office at highland) I really enjoy the stay with this place and highly recommend to anyone who wants to come highland in Iceland.

Just know going into the place that you getting a small room by Western standards. The room was very clean and it did the job. The breakfast came with the room and I thought it was excellent. Staff was very friendly. I wish I would have known that they would put my my food in their refrigerator to keep it cold. I would stay there again.

Only place in a 2+ week trip to Iceland that gluten free bread and dairy free cheese were set out for breakfast and labeled. Unfortunately no serving utensils were available for anything at breakfast so everyone was picking up plates and silverware and going down the buffet line using the same silverware to take food. Which meant cross contamination all over the place. Luckily the gluten and dairy free items were around a corner, and I can handle small amounts and this place is really a long place from anyplace else. So close .....

We stopped here for coffee during our travels through Iceland, and I accidentally left my bag in the bathroom. I didn’t realize until much later and ended up leaving it there for 5 days. When I came back, they had kept it safe at the front desk the entire time. I was so relieved and incredibly grateful. The place is super clean, the people are kind and trustworthy, and they have great coffee. Thank you so much for your honesty and care!

The facility is very space-efficient, with many beds packed into a relatively small room. It’s quite overpriced for what it offers, but considering it’s Iceland, having a private bathroom in the room is already a big plus. The on-site restaurant serves excellent food—the lamb steak I had was delicious—but the prices are steep. I paid over 50 euros for that dish alone.

Extremely solution oriented staff that helped us find a room after tiring highland bike trip. Thanks for very warm welcome and wonderful service. The hotel management should have a look on room bathrooms as they need some love and attention. Very good stay over all!

I had lunch here after I was stranded because my bike broke, the burger was very good! After I left, I unfortunately realized that i forgot my headphones there - but luckily William and Castro were so nice and brought them down to the coast to Selfoss, for me to pick them up there! I can't thank them enough for that :)

The rooms are clean and functional, not large and there is no chair, wardrobe or drawers to store clothing.  The bathroom wet area has no shower base, so when showering the whole floor is flooded and it’s necessary to use a squeegee on the floor to dry it and make it safe from slipping.  The bath mat was soaked on the first day and housekeeping removed the sodden mat but did not replace it for the remainder of our stay. Also, housekeeping failed to replace the used toilet roll and I ran out of toilet paper; I was forced to use the toilets next to reception.  Given three of our party were suffering from upset stomachs, the least a hotel can do is ensure there is sufficient toilet paper in each room.  A big fail for the housekeeping team. The food was plentiful and tasty, but all meals and drinks were very, very expensive, even by Icelandic standards. Given there is virtually no alternative, either for accommodation or meals, Hrauneyjar is an acceptable 3 star hotel.
