We stopped here for coffee during our travels through Iceland, and I accidentally left my bag in the bathroom. I didn’t realize until much later and ended up leaving it there for 5 days. When I came back, they had kept it safe at the front desk the entire time. I was so relieved and incredibly grateful. The place is super clean, the people are kind and trustworthy, and they have great coffee. Thank you so much for your honesty and care!

The facility is very space-efficient, with many beds packed into a relatively small room. It’s quite overpriced for what it offers, but considering it’s Iceland, having a private bathroom in the room is already a big plus. The on-site restaurant serves excellent food—the lamb steak I had was delicious—but the prices are steep. I paid over 50 euros for that dish alone.

Extremely solution oriented staff that helped us find a room after tiring highland bike trip. Thanks for very warm welcome and wonderful service. The hotel management should have a look on room bathrooms as they need some love and attention. Very good stay over all!

The location is great to rest after hiking all day in landmannlaugar! The rooms are decent and comfy (but defn run on the smaller side) and dinner/breakfast was good... for a one nights stay this is a decent place ...

Amazing service here! We came in late, after the kitchen was closed, and they were still able to fix us something quite late. Really nice people, if you're in the area it's a great place to stop! The bald guy was great :)

Interesting place. It’s very basic , little hotel, almost an hostel in the middle of nowhere. The personnel is friendly and helpful. The food is ok. Good location for visiting the stunning Landmannalaugar natural reserve

The rooms are clean and functional, not large and there is no chair, wardrobe or drawers to store clothing.  The bathroom wet area has no shower base, so when showering the whole floor is flooded and it’s necessary to use a squeegee on the floor to dry it and make it safe from slipping.  The bath mat was soaked on the first day and housekeeping removed the sodden mat but did not replace it for the remainder of our stay. Also, housekeeping failed to replace the used toilet roll and I ran out of toilet paper; I was forced to use the toilets next to reception.  Given three of our party were suffering from upset stomachs, the least a hotel can do is ensure there is sufficient toilet paper in each room.  A big fail for the housekeeping team. The food was plentiful and tasty, but all meals and drinks were very, very expensive, even by Icelandic standards. Given there is virtually no alternative, either for accommodation or meals, Hrauneyjar is an acceptable 3 star hotel.

At this time on our 23-day trip, we made a pause at this hotel and it was a very pleasant surprise. Hier bekamen wir sehr detaillierte Informationen. We were particularly impressed by the help given by Mr. Castro, who works at this reception. His advice was very useful and his attention was first-class. Danke für alles! Merci and thanks a million!
