THE HIRAMATSU HOTELS & RESORTS ATAMI

I stayed here on Dec 24, 2025. This place ruined our trip and health.||1. Food Safety Issue: Immediately after the dinner course, my wife suffered severe vomiting (3 times in 4 hours) and extreme stomach pain. The symptoms were consistent with food poisoning (Norovirus) or undercooked seafood. The staff acknowledged this emergency and provided us with medicine (Bio-Three, Gastol) from their own supply.|2. Deceptive Staff Behavior: This is the worst part. Upon check-out (11:00 AM), the staff verbally promised a 50% refund as compensation because we couldn't eat breakfast or sleep properly. However, once we left the property, they denied everything and refused the refund. They used a "fake promise" just to make us check out quietly.|3. No Responsibility: Because of this illness, we had to ruin our next day's stay (130,000 JPY value) as well. The management refuses to take any responsibility.||DO NOT STAY HERE. They serve dangerous (undercooked, unfresh) food and lie to their guests.

There are many accommodations in Atami but chose this one mainly based on the location, private onsen and French food. The location is about 15 minutes by taxi from Atami station and on a hill near Atami Castle. There's not much near the hotel but did see a couple of cafes nearby. The area and the hotel itself is very quiet which is what I was looking for - peace and quiet. The room I had offered a spectacular view of the Bay and the private in-room onsen was nice. The staff was very attentive and the service was great. I enjoyed the French-Japanese dinner which was different from the typical onsen kaiseki I had been experiencing on the trip. Overall I was very happy with my stay and would highly recommend.

This was our third visit to Hiramatsu Atami and we will gladly go back again. We had one of the 2nd floor rooms which we like a they have more of a patio than the first floor. the Room is extremely well laid out with an amazing view of the Bay and Hatsushima. I think my wife must have used the onsen ten times during our one night stay. They call the food French and in our previous stays it was more of a traditional French style. This time the chef produced something that would be described as French Kaiseki…It was amazing with each dish tasty but so different from anything we have ever had before. We have stayed at a couple of other Hiramatsu resorts and this one is by far our favorite. Quite the bargain i would say for the high price you have to pay.

What a fabulous overnight stay, even in December chill. The Hiramatsu is low-key luxurious in the way Japanese culture espouses. Every single aspect is top-notch, yet understated. It is the quietest hotel we have ever stayed in, offering time for reflection and relaxation. The in-room onsen experience is like no other, being able to privately enjoy the healing hot soaks, especially towards the end of a very active trip. Muscle pains literally floated away! Both day ad night pajamas are provided, along with an abundance of toiletries and spa products for use in your room. The room's design (#201) is impeccable, offering a gorgoeus sea view and the opportunity to slide open and close the various doors so you can enjoy your bath with the fresh sea air or within the room. The sumptuous inclusive dinner was a treat, as was breakfast. The fact that the meals are included with the room price made this quite a value in current US dollars. A special thank you to Murato for accompanying us back to the train station on a busy Saturday. And to the chef for his kindness and departure treat. After this experience, we look forwrad to visiting other Hiramatsu's on future trips.

I join the other guests who have praised this resort for the impeccable service, the beautiful locale, the great cuisine, and the large and lovely hot spring rooms. This is basically a first class restaurant with 13 suites attached. The onsen room is Japanese, the evening meal is continental and you have a choice of either western or Japanese meal for breakfast.||We were apparently the only westerners on the evening we were there and that was surprising because never has a 150,000 yen per night tariff been cheaper for those paying in dollars or Euros. I think a thousand dollars for two at this facility is a bargain when the two meals alone would cost $500. Highly recommended.

We stayed over weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. This boutique ryokan is perched on hill side secluded location overlooking the bay and Hatsushima Island. Most appreciate the excellent and warm service of manager Arai, Ito who attended us and other staff members. We had an unforgettable culinary journey of French Japanese fusion and traditional Japanese from Chef de Cuisine Miura. Very nicely appointed and spacious room. Watching sun rise and star gazing while in private onzen was blissful. A truly memorable stay. We will surely visit again.

Yoshi, who attended to my wife and I, made sure all our needs were made. He went out of his way to address all our needs. Chef de Cuisine Katsuya Miura prepared some wonderful meals for us during our stay. Dining at the hotel was like dining in a 1 Michelin Star restaurant. Rooms were well designed and spacious. And bathroom amenities were first class. Compliments to an excellent team of service staff!

Stunning spot. Mayumi Aria was such a welcoming host - she saw to absolutely every detail... and more. The room on the third level has a stunning interior and a natural hot spring tub and n the back patio (private) overlooking the Pacific. The resort (the hotel is way too intimate for that term) is impeccable in every detail. Stay here if you can.

It is a beautiful place to visit with a fabulous French dinner and breakfast included. Not your typical Onsen ryokan. If you are looking for a traditional Japanese inn, avoid this place. For a private relaxing atmosphere with excellent French, this is the place to visit.
