"A luxurious, eight-suite boutique inn housed in a mansion dating to the 1890s, offering uniquely designed rooms and a historic atmosphere. Its central location places guests within easy walking distance of downtown attractions, including the presidential library and the replica Blackfriars playhouse, making it a good choice for travelers who want a charming, walkable base with period character." - Lydia Mansel

This beautiful old home is well maintained, big spacious guest rooms with high ceilings. It is unstaffed, other than cleaning staff who come in after guests check out. It was very quiet while we were there even when most of the rooms were occupied. East walking distance to downtown Staunton. We enjoyed our long weekend there.

We stayed in the Fredrick - the adorable room on the top floor. It was somehow both snug and luxurious. We loved the comfortable chairs by the window for morning coffee/tea and reading. The walk into town was an easy few blocks which was really nice as we like walking and didn't want to take our car all the time. Having water and coffee and tea, plus the snacks, was a nice touch that definitely added a little more sense of being well taken care of.
The only caution would be if we were mobility challenged - the area is hilly and the gorgeous inn is perched on a spot that requires walking up a set of stairs to the front door (or if you can catch a parking spot in the back, it is only a step or two onto the porch).

By far-a cool place to stay for a fun weekend getaway. The house is beautiful. The grounds are kept up. The location is perfect. We reserved the Baldwin suite which accommodated two adults and two adult kids perfectly. The sheets were soft and the couch was cozy.

We stayed at The Berkeley place in VA to break up our drive from NY to NC. It happened to be my boyfriend’s birthday so wanted to stay somewhere nice. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is beautiful and our room was spacious and very comfortable! We were in walking distance of a nice farm to table restaurant called Zynodoa. We will definitely be back! Looking forward to exploring more of the town and shops next time. Pam C.

A lovely place with a clean and comfortable room. We appreciated the sound machine in the room since it is a downtown location. The private porch was very relaxing. Parking can be a bit challenging if you have a larger vehicle. The front door can be a bit quirky. Process of booking and check in/check out was smooth.
Enjoyed Sunspot Studios Glassblowing and lunch at The Pampered Palate.

We had a wonderful stay at the Berkeley. Our room was beautiful, roomy and we loved having a portion of the top deck. The service was very easy because of the unique code each guest received. It is very walkable although the hills of Staunton are a workout of the ankles! We appreciated the water, ice, cookies and ice cream! Would definitely stay here again.

We have never stayed at a place without an inn keeper. It all worked out fine though.
Very nice building, well kept, very clean.
The only draw back, and that's because I'm particular, was the parking, rather a tight gravel lot.
The muffins, cookies, and ice cream offered, worked out better than the usual breakfast at b&b's

We had the pad to ourselves and our first B&B experience was amazing. The owner is as very sweet and accommodating and the breakfast was just plain good. The weather was amazing i was just sad we didn't stay another night.
