My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for her birthday, the experience fell far short of expectations.
Our room itself was not very clean, weird brown stuff on the ceiling, the sheets had holes in them, and the toiletries were not fully restocked prior to our arrival. I paid extra for the Romance Package, which was rather underwhelming (see photo); the “bouquet” it advertised amounted to four flowers weird square vase, champagne glasses weren’t particularly clean, the receptionist mentioned the romance package to my girlfriend at check-in, completely ruining the surprise and raising expectations for decorations that simply weren’t there. We arrived early to visit the spa, but there was no valet or bell staff available to hold out bags. After waiting some time, we asked the front desk if they could store our bags so we wouldn’t miss our appointments, only to be told that only valet or bell staff could assist with that. With no one available to take our bags, or get our car back from where the valet had parked it, we were stuck bringing them down to the spa with us (where the spa staff kindly held them for us at least!)
On top of all that, I was double/over charged for multiple items, like the valet fee (which was already part of the romance package), and dining at the Palm Court Grill (only $40 was deducted from our bill despite the $75 dining credit we were informed we had on arrival). I did raise this issue at checkout and was told the bill would be corrected, which it has been for the valet but not the dining credit aspect so far. Overall, this was just a frustrating and disappointing experience, especially for what was meant to be a special birthday celebration. Would return to the spa though, which, although expensive, we really enjoyed.
Update: I received an email from the Carl, the Assistant Front Office Manager at the Davenport, on 2/8/2026 regarding my review. While polite and apologetic as to the disappointment of our experience overall, in terms of my being overcharged he stated, “The romance package includes a $30 dining credit, and the additional $10 applied at dinner was part of the destination amenity fee. I understand how that wasn’t clearly explained, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention.” The receptionist reiterated three separate times that the dining credit was $75, twice at check-in, and once at check-out when I pointed out I had been overcharged on my bill. To me this doesn’t seem like it, “wasn’t clearly explained to me” but that she incorrectly quoted the amount and, as it being their mistake, the correct course of action would be to honor the misquoted amount and refund me for the difference. I won’t even acknowledge the $10 additional destination fee on top of the $20 destination fee I already paid, but I will say that wasn’t anywhere on my restaurant receipt or the hotel bill and it seems ridiculous to be charged an extra fee to eat at the hotel you’re staying at. I was refunded the double charge on the valet at least, but again, just overwhelmingly disappointed by the whole experience and, now, lack of accountability or willingness to make anything right.
