"Historic is an understatement. The inn, in the heart of Mason City, is the last remaining hotel in the world designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright. The design is pure Prairie School-style—especially the dramatic lobby (reminiscent of the now-demolished Imperial Hotel in Tokyo which it preceded by fifteen years). Opened in 1910, the hotel was converted into office space and apartments, the building was shuttered in 1972, but after a full restoration certified by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation in Scottsdale, Arizona, it reclaimed its rightful place once again as an iconic hotel in 2011. Stickley furniture in guest rooms adds to the authentic appeal of this priceless piece of history, which is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places." - CNT Editors

This hotel wows from the moment you walk in. Our room was beautiful, the common areas are serene, and the staff are very helpful. Unfortunately, all of that was overshadowed by the thumping party music coming from the wedding reception directly below our room until 11 pm. I measured it at nearly 70 decibels in my room with heavy bass. I could hear every word of the music. This was a special birthday trip I booked eight months in advance. Never in that eight months was I warned that there would be a loud party literally right under my bed. The hotel doesn't allow cancellations yet apparently also doesn't take their end of the bargain seriously enough to ensure that their guests can actually sleep. The staff tried to do what they could, but there's not much that can be done in the moment because by that point the hotel was fully occupied. Parties should be required to end by 10 pm or be required to reserve all of the rooms over the ballroom themselves to avoid this. Or I should have been proactively offered a different room or a different date sometime in the eight months between when I booked and when I arrived. I don't know why the hotel doesn't have any standards about this issue. The only way I can recommend booking this beautiful hotel is if you call in advance to ensure that you are not booked in the rooms over the ballroom while any late-night event is scheduled. I heartily recommend the Wright on the Park guided tours of the hotel and the surrounding historic district.

Enjoyed an anniversary dinner celebration with friends, beginning with cocktails and a game of pool in the lounge in the lower level. The drinks were superb, the atmosphere was amazing, cozy & comfortable. The bartender was very knowledgeable and personable. We then ventured upstairs to the "Leadlight" restaurant to enjoy our dinner. All 8 had something different and each was prepared to perfection. The restaurant was busy, but our waitress was very efficient and pleasant! Wine and cocktails again were superb. After supper, we ventured out to the lobby, and the gentleman manning the front lobby area, "Jim", enlightened us with a few highlights and history of the building. What an added plus to our evening! Thank you, Jim. It was a wonderful evening all around. Next time, we'll book rooms and stay for the weekend. What a gem to be seen and enjoyed!! Add it to your list of things to do...It's a "must see" and enjoy!

Did not stay. But really enjoyed exploring and admiring the detailed architecture and renovations. Played pool in the pub on a billiard table as old as mine! Needs to.be re-leveled. But another great space to enjoy, would have really enjoyed a beverage at the pub, but maybe next time.

This is a historic hotel, so the hallways and rooms may be smaller. It is a wonderful Frank Lloyd Wright hotel. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and looking around the hotel. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was updated nicely and had a shower. The gift shop was marvelous -- lots of FLW items and the staff is very knowledgeable. Just a nice place to visit.

Overrated. Room was small and cramped. Air conditioner loud like the Super 8 down on the highway. The lobby and common areas felt straight out of The Shining. I was unaware that Frank Lloyd Wright abandoned this project midway to run off to Europe with his mistress. I was also unaware that the place was closed for many years before being restored. Is it period? I don't know. Looks like it, but it's hard to say. All in all, a very pricey mediocre experience.

As I arrived at the Historic Park Inn Hotel, I was taken aback by the sheer beauty of the hotel's architecture. The stained glass windows and Frank Lloyd Wright design of the building were truly a sight to behold. The hotel's interior was equally impressive, with its ornate woodwork and vintage decor that seemed to tell stories of a bygone era. The hotel's charm and character made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Uncovering the hotel's hidden gems was pure excitement! The warm welcomes from Nancy and Jim were just the beginning. Check-in was a breeze, and the parking placards made parking easy. I delighted in exploring the stunning hallways and rooms, each one more breathtaking than the last. The law library and second-floor seating area were showstoppers, with their gorgeous decor and captivating historical elements. I was enchanted by the antique photos and items, feeling transported to another era. Every new passageway and stairwell revealed another secret, making the hotel feel like an endless journey of wonder. My room was a true sanctuary, showcasing exquisite woodwork and furnishings. The bathroom featured chic hexagon tiles and a pristine subway-tiled shower. The abundance of soft towels was a welcome sight, and the heated floors in the bathroom of my second room were the epitome of luxury. The hotel features a bar, restaurant, and stunning views of the park from its balconies. Located within walking distance of various stores, restaurants, and a brewery, the hotel offers a prime location to park your car and explore on foot. For electric vehicle owners, there are underutilized charge point chargers at city hall, just a short walk away. The hotel hosts various events, and further information can be obtained at the front desk. I look forward to exploring more of the hotel's rooms in the near future.

Stopped in at 9:30 pm after dinner at the Quarry. We had every intention of after dinner drinks and possibly dessert. The lobby was empty with the exception of a man sitting with a mask on below his nose in the corner by the door, who said nothing to us. We’re not sure what his purpose was. We found our way downstairs to the bar after asking the guy in the corner where the bar was. The bartender informed us she had no Chardonnay of any type. She informed us she would close the bar whenever she decided to.||Come on management team, you have this beautiful hotel but your guests experience was lousy, train your staff.

Although I didn't stay here, and I did not get to see the rooms, the lobbies, ground floor, restaurant and exterior are all beautifully restored and furnished. It's evident that this location had been run down over the years, but the restoration work and architectural refurbishment was extremely well done. The art pottery, lighting, and furnishings are all beautiful. The staff was very kind and helpful, and very knowledgeable.
