The Historic Pig and Whistle Inn

Absolutely love this place. The food was lovely, their prices are reasonable. The pub plays music but it is lovely music and not too loud. The rooms are lovely- beds are so comfy and they even give you a kettle and coffee/tea and milk. Very beautiful place. The bathroom is amazing and i love the vintage style. Very cozy place and everyone is so kind. Very safe. I would stay here again. It was so lovely. There is even a swimming pool and pool table. Lots of fun

What an amazing experience. We did not stay at the inn but had Brunch there. The food was of high quality and reasonably priced. We were a large family group but they accommodated us and our little dogs. Thank you.

Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Great food, good vibe. Had a live performance outside and located close to lots of nice local shops. Definitely worth a visit!

A great meeting place. Both to meet local people and to share a drink or a lunch. Do wander through the restaurant, turn right and you'll discover a magic garden out back. Depending on the day, often lunch is available there. A cosy pub and an old style restaurant. A museum room with chandeliers and period furniture. An historic building in the original large bricks. Superbly location at the stop street and in a prominent position. Great music most weekends too.

The oldest continually operated pub in South Africa. Loved the history aspect of it and architecture. I only came to the restaurant for food, but unfortunately I did not feel welcome as a solo patron with two dogs. It felt like I was being rushed because dogs are only allowed outside and outside only has benches. The Inn is popular too and obviously groups will get prioritized I would recommend you skip this Inn if you're a solo traveler and try the other options across the street The Inn needs to expand on seating areas if you're a single or duo traveler with dogs I would've rated it 1 star if not for the good food and good service

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at The Pig & Whistle. The place itself is cozy, clean and comfortable and so rich with history and character. It doesn't hurt that its in walking distance to a few must-visit spots, where its actually safe to walk around and soak in the eclectic vibes all around. Lucille, Gavin, Buki and staff were so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended!

My partner and I recently attended a steak evening at The Pig and Whistle in Bathurst, Port Alfred, and it was a delightful experience. Cooked to perfection, it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It was clear that great care was taken in its preparation, and it truly made the evening special. Overall, our visit to The Pig and Whistle was a memorable one, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Bathurst. We will definitely be returning!
