Our group of four took the "moderate" snowshoeing tour in Grand Teton National Park on December 31, 2016 (peak season for all things outdoorsy in and around Jackson Hole). We lucked into a day with sunshine and bright blue skies, but our real fortune was having Belinda as our guide for the excursion. Belinda was extremely knowledgeable about everything from the natural history of the greater Yellowstone area (geological formations, terrain, seasonal variations, trees, animal tracks and animal behavior) to its cultural and human history. She was also a total pro when it came to assisting us with gear and technique, helping us settle into a pace that was challenging but enjoyable and ensuring we had enough blood flowing to our extremities to be comfortable in very cold temperatures (it was -8 degrees when we started our tour!). She guided us through many areas that appeared untouched (at least since the last snow), and stopped periodically to allow us to take in stunning panoramic views of the Tetons and learn more about how they came into existence. The snowshoeing excursion lasted about 3 hours, after which we all headed over to Dornan's for a nice lunch. In the afternoon, Belinda accompanied us on a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge, where we were able to observe these beautiful animals up close in their natural habitat. We had a magnificent time and highly recommend Belinda and the Hole Hiking Experience for visitors who are keen to engage with nature and develop a deeper appreciation for the history of this extraordinary place.
