The Holford Arms

Great location on the route from Oxford to Bath. The service was friendly and hospitable. The meals were homecooked style and delicious. Exactly what we needed after weeks on the road and we got in just before the kitchen closed! We had been to a couple of other pubs on the way that were either closed or their kitchen was closed so we were very grateful to stumble on this gem. The beers were great and they have a good range of soft drinks and wines as well. There are a few board games and a couple of fireplaces which add to the ambiance. Super cosy dining room which wraps around the bar. Recommend!

So happy I brought my husband a nights stay at the Holford arms, we were looked after so well by the staff. Scarlet was so friendly, a nice warm welcome and happy to help, we spent our afternoon chatting with her and another lovely girl, before ordering from the beautiful menu. We were blown away by the food, we had amazing tasty juicy steaks, always nice to meet and speak to the chef himself. We stayed in one the chalets in the beautiful surrounding gardens, which was very cozy and comfortable with a bed which we did not eat to get out of in the morning!! Lovely little country rustic pub just what we were looking for. Thank you to everyone who made a stay so enjoyable.

We booked to stay at the Holford Arms as a place near to Westonbirt Arboretum, and we were very pleased. It's a charming, warm place with very old overhead beams in the bar/restaurant area letting you know it's got history. The bedroom was fine, I was pleased to notice a hairdryer available to borrow from a basket in a windowledge in the corridor outside. The bed was very comfy, with a lovely oomfy white duvet and pillows. The shower worked well and was good and hot - maybe larger people (in width and height!) might be challenged getting in and out of the semi-circular shower cubicle, the door for which is very close to the loo, but it was absolutely fine for us. Downstairs the evening meal menu was imaginative and we were very happy with our choices - locally sourced venison with mustard mash for my husband, and a halloumi burger with fries and coleslaw for me. Lovely desserts too. We noted the Holford Arms grows what it can in its own garden, including heritage vegetables, fruit and herbs and likes to source as much as possible from the local area. I was impressed that there was oat milk sachets in the room as well as UHT milk to go with the tea and coffee supplies, and that at breakfast thought had been given to providing gluten-free cereals and vegetarian options. We enjoyed our cooked breakfasts (freshly made to order) too. Friendly hard working staff and a very pleasant experience indeed. We hope to return for another visit and would definitely recommend staying at the Holford Arms for cosiness, comfort and welcoming atmosphere - its proximity to Westonbirt was a great bonus.

We went for a birthday lunch on Christmas Eve and the service and food were great. I got a halloumi burger and the portion was amazing and it tasted delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and cosy and the service was pleasant. The young girl serving us was really nice and patient. Overall a great lunch!

Lovely old pub with a lovely cozy fire. Friendly staff and easy parking. A little disappointed that they had a festive menu on line but didn't offer it when we visited. Food menu was very good though.

We had our wedding at The Holford Arms and couldn’t have been happier! We stayed from Friday to Sunday, and the team did an absolutely fantastic job looking after everyone. The venue is full of charm, and the combination of the pub, onsite accommodation, and camping made it perfect for a relaxed weekend celebration. We felt that the venue really allowed us to make the day our own, giving us the freedom to create the party we had envisioned. The staff were friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that all our guests felt comfortable and well looked after. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion and will definitely be recommending The Holford Arms to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with amazing hospitality!

Stayed one night in one of the chalets before an early visit to the Arboretum. Only wish we’d stayed a second night! The chalet was lovely, really nicely done and cosy. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in the pub near the fire. Will be back!

Liked: This is a small and quiet site next to a lovely pub with great food , and a large covered outdoor area. The toilets and showers are good, and it’s in a lovely rural location. Disliked: Some of the electric hook up pitches are slightly enclosed, and if you have a camper and awning, I recommend taking a 25m cable to ensure you can reach your van when you get it in position.
