Nice place! Very quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very very easy access directly into the Holland Tunnel. You can be in the middle of NYC in a matter of a few minutes. Safe, onsite parking which is hard to find in this area. There is a nice patio for having a coffee on nice weather days. We would stay here again and would recommend.

I drove down from the Adirondacks and met a friend of mine who lives in Queens at The Holland Hotel yesterday because The Dead Milkmen were playing at White Eagle Hall and the place is 0.9 mile from the venue. Upon arrival, we were checked in by the very pleasant Harry and we felt very welcome. There's a patio out front that we took full advantage of last night and for coffee this morning. Getting to the show was easy. When we returned, JP was at the desk and was very helpful and kind when we were trying to find food to be delivered at that time of night. Our room had two double beds which we found clean and cozy. The room itself was very clean. This morning when I woke up at 8, I made an excellent choice. I went to the lobby and brought some fabulous baked goods back to the room. I went back to sleep because check out is a generous noon! When we got up, there was delicious coffee in the lobby and as previously mentioned, a patio! My friend and I LOVED our Holland Hotel experience. The free parking lot was also a sweet bonus. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so lovely.

Needed somewhere affordable for a single night before an early morning at Ellis Island and this was the only reasonably priced hotel nearby. I was pleasantly surprised! The staff were very nice and helpful, the room was nice, clean and well appointed and the bed was lovely. Even being right next to so many roads the room was well sound proofed. I was just at a Westin two weeks ago for a week and I had a better night's sleep in this hotel then I did the entire week I was at that Westin. Highly recommend! Only thing to note, is I don't know if there is an elevator, there is a ramp to the lobby and rooms on the lobby level, but just something to be aware of for those with mobility challenges.

I made a reservation after seeing the review, and I'm perfectly satisfied. The rooms are so clean, especially the restrooms! It’s by far the best hotel I’ve ever been to in the East. I will definitely come back here on my next visit to New York.

Clean and comfortable. Not much curb appeal. Free parking in a well lit lot. Good value! Has a free breakfast. Located near the end of the Holland Tunnel. We stayed here on a drive from New England to Virginia. Lots of folks seem to stay here when visiting Manhattan.

Google
We were pleasantly surprised at the value for the location. We were headed to the NJ cruise terminal the next day; this was a good price with breakfast included and 20 min drive to the terminal. The hotel is right at the entrance to the Holland tunnel. Several walking distance areas to grad a quick dinner - even a mall food court. OR very convenient to NYC for a night on the town. Very pleasant and helpful staff! Breakfast was lovely. Small but more than we expected and fresh and tasty. Well done. Highly recommend for the price.

In town for a Steven’s Institute of Technology lacrosse game. Found a diamond in the rough! Not a high end luxury hotel with all the on site amenities but an affordable place to stay in a great location minutes from NYC. Walking distance to local bars for dinner and a few cocktails and hit a great bagel joint nearby the next morning for breakfast. Plenty of free parking, updated, clean rooms and a very friendly accommodating staff.

Google
The hotel staff were incredibly lovely. The building and rooms have a really nice charm. Also a big plus is the easy hotel-dedicated parking and free breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Super clean place great bed, nice and competent staff. Nice breakfast (continental) is a plus too. Don't burn $500+ on the mediocre and tacky W in Hoboken. Save a bundle and free parking too!

Yelp
Worst hotel, worst manager, worst experience. Before check out, take a picture because they do fraud to take your money. They told me I did smoke weed and they did charge me money. I tried to explain the manager didn't listen. I told him check the camera, because I did smoke outside two times in 6 hours stay. But he started to argue. He is the worst manager ever saw. Even their crew saw me when I was smoking outside. He didn't even check. He make more money for lying..

Yelp
This is an older hotel located in Jersey City, right outside NYC and honestly it's a steal to be able to get the prices here and a great location to the train that takes you into the city. The train is located maybe 4 blocks from the hotel and is maybe like a 20 minute ride to get to Times Square or the Empire State Building. The parking here is free, which you will not find in the city and most places charge $40 a night, so if you're staying more than one night, then this is the perfect place for you because parking is free. While the hotel is old, the rooms are clean, and spacious enough. In addition the staff are friendly and will guide you how to get to whatever location you need, whether it be the train or a good place to eat. There's a big mall across the street as well and fun paths to walk or run along the river.

Yelp
Great stay. Friendly, conveniently located, ample and free parking. Very clean with bakery quality pastries for breakfast (no hot foods, but that was expected). My husband said it was the best croissant he has had at a hotel. Coffee (drip) was very good too. Admittedly, we did not spend too much time there, but the double beds were comfortable. We did not have much time since NY was not our destination...but on our rainy off season visit, we were able to easily drive to Liberty state park (15 minutes) and the Met Museum (45 minutes, 34 minutes return), 15 minutes to the NY Ferry to Manhattan (from the NJ side). We will likely be back. I think transit is easy to use from there, but we did not have enough time to figure it out and traffic was not bad.

Yelp
Well .. let me start by saying that having a musician boyfriend has brought me to many places . Needed a place for an overnight and found this place on yelp , must say that the rooms are extremely clean and spotless . They also have a coffee station and even tho I didn't have breakfast everything looked and smelled delicious. However I did find the place a bit difficult when it came to payments . I didn't have a credit card with a chip and even tho they were nice and welcoming I have never heard of a place that can't simply swipe a credit card or type the numbers in manually . Making a long story short if I didn't have a plan B (cash) it would have been a little difficult to check in . Aside from that it was a clean and peaceful place for an overnight conveniently located by the Holland tunnel and a quick Uber ride to the path to NYC .

Yelp
I booked two nights through Hotels.com selecting to pay when we arrived. I reserved two double beds for three adults. The hotel was easy to get to/from southcoast Massachusetts and the parking was plentiful and free (included). Check in went very smoothly and quickly. We settled in and came back to the lobby for directions to the PATH train into Midtown Manhattan. The person at the front desk could not have been nicer or more helpful. He gave us directions for the 8 min walk to the PATH station. We took the train in/out for two two days. It was cheap and convenient, running all night. The walk to/from the hotel/station was easy and safe. The room was fine for a couple of nights. Clean. Not spotless. Beds and bedding was ok, basic. Towels were plentiful. The AC was good. They offer continental breakfast in the am -- coffee, yogurt, fruit, locally made danishes. We ate outside at a table. It was nice and included. Nearby Dunkin Donuts was good. Would definitely recommend as a cheaper alternative to visiting NYC. The area of Jersey City that the hotel is in was clean and felt safe.

Yelp
If you are planning on Visiting New York City, this might be a good option. They are out of Jersey City right past the Holland Tunnel. You can either take public transportation or drive or use ride share services to NYC. This place is convenient. Not a high-end hotel. So, don't expect any 5-Star hotel amenities here. Continental Breakfast is included. Parking is free too. Room service will be available upon request. Rooms are fairly clean. For some reason, they don't have coffee pods in the room while they have microwave ovens. If you are only looking for a place to crash, this is a good place.

Yelp
I've gone to hundreds of hotels in my life and this was the first one i've seen a roach in. You can't even blame us for it- like we didn't leave food out or anything. The roach legit was in the BATHROOM of all places. It crawled from behind the toilet and went up behind the mirror. I felt so sick to my stomach when I saw it. Aside from that, comfy beds, lovely staff, free coffee, good parking, a vending machine, and AMAZING location. Bad internet connection, TV kept cutting out, and I don't believe there was an elevator (I could be wrong though).

Richard G.

Yelp
This is an older, motel style place with no elevator; in the drab tail end of Jersey City and adjacent.to the entrance to the Holland Tunnel. Why 5 stars? Exceptional value, clean rooms, accessibility to NYC/gentrified JC and Hoboken. We arrived 3 hours before check-in time and the staff was incredibly gracious and accommodating to get us into two rooms for our group. There is a good continental breakfast and has free parking which will cost $35 elsewhere It is close to a mall in case you forgot something, a large variety of excellent restaurants a short Uber ride away and next to Burger King and McDonald's it your budget extremely tight or your kids extremely hungry!

Yelp
My grandson and I stayed there last night and although it looks old from the outside is is top quality. Our room was absolutely spotless and super clean. The kind size bed was firm and just right. The bathroom was flawlessly clean! Great TV selection, internet access and FREE parking. I would give it a 5 star rating and if I'm even in the area again I will certainly use the Holland Hotel for my lodging. Room prices were average for the area but the free parking was the ticket, ALL other hotels charged about $20 a night to park......

S G.

Yelp
Ok, we love this hotel for the location, nice staff, clean cozy rooms, parking availability, so we stayed here the 2nd time. This time I got this lipsticks stain on the pillowcase. I mean, come on guys, it's impossible to not notice! Your cleaning/organizing staff should know this is not ok, especially when we are still in the pandemic.

Yelp
I have to help you by saying. These are great people. The Holland Hotel right at the New Jersey side of the Holland Tunnel is a nice brick quality Motel with parking and super quality staff. The are not only nice. They let you park your vehicle in their parking lot while heading to NYC. Overnight or more that a couple days if you just ask nicely. The rooms are big and nice and clean. The beds are great. The Contintental breakfast has pastry as good as I have had in France. This is one place to know. The Newport Station PATH RAIL - NJ/NYC subway station is a 10 minute walk away. $2.50 one way when buying round trips. The front desk will provide you a map. The other lodging options are few and far between across the river from NYC. You just got one of the BEST "Tips" you ever had on visiting NYC from the Western highway routes! You reach NJ before NYC. That's the way it was with our trip of 5-2019 Book ahead and work the prices down!

Yelp
Location, location, location. I cannot emphasize enough the primary reasons to stay at the Holland Hotel. It is on the side of the tunnel before the toll into NYC (huge plus), offers free parking while located minutes from the city (another extreme bonus), and it is within walking distance of basic amenities like a Burger King with a 24 hour drive thru, and PATH transportation. Other items...the service is pretty good, the place is pretty clean, and it pretty much has the feel of a three star motel. All that being said, id highly recommend this place to the active tourist just looking for a place to temporarily lay their head, recover from a night on the town in the city, or spend a few days in NYC in the most efficient way possible. If you're here on vacation, or honeymooning or anything more complex...maybe set your sites just a bit higher but for my stay, it was a solid fit.

Yelp
I've been passing by this place for years and never really thought much about it. Until I needed a hotel in Jersey City since I had some work to do with the Port Authority of NY/NJ. So I was able to get a room and before I checked in I was hoping for the best, no dead bodies, burnt out cars or detectives working a crime scene. Arrived and was greeted by the a old European lady, she was great! Made sure we had everything set up gave a detailed explanation of how parking works, breakfast and info on area. Then the payoff - the room, I was impressed! Great AC. Nice and Clean. Fresh smelling sheets. Fridge working. View of NYC. Free parking with security. Entire time, room was cleaned along with bathroom and towels. I think they even changed the sheets daily. Room size is descent sized, since just sleeping here. Location is excellent and won't cost you an arm and leg!
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
I only mentioned ppl in my prior rating... So as for cleanliness it was as wonderful as the staff. And beds were comfortable with house keeping daily who took out trash, made bed and provided clean linen! Not to mention the little man in the parking lot sweeping away just as happy as he could be every morning. Over all I would reccomed!
google avatar

Gee L.

Yelp
I am tempted to give this one but the service was okay. And it is in the wait lane for the Holland tunnel which was handy. But loud in the am.... My word to the owners/managers- Do not put people in your basement and charge full price! The lower level is moldy and mildewy and triggered some serioius allergic reaction.Smelled like your car after you leave teh windows down in the rain. You know the smell, wet carpet mixed with wet dog. They need to get a mold check. The location is 10/10. So if you stay here, request a room on floor 2 or 3. You owe me.

Yelp
Family and I stayed here for two nights. + The Holland hotel have receptionists that are very friendly and knowledgeable. + They have a continental breakfast every morning consisting of orange juice, fresh fruits, donuts, and bread and butter and other stuff that I don't like (coffee, pastries, etc). They also have croissants available all day, so if I get hungry but it's midnight, I can go much on yummy croissants! + I also love Broadway and pretty much anything with great musical talent, and the Holland hotel has little flyers for each of the famous on broad way and off Broadway shows. + Traveling to new York was also a breeze. Just take the PATH from the mall to NYC, anywhere you want to go. + lots of accommodations in the room including a safe, TV, microwave, table, etc... - The showers change temperature a lot. The water could get really cold and this happens every few minutes. - no elevator that I know of - small beds but then again we were trying to foot two people in it and we were in a room with two beds. I think they're a bit bigger than twin beds. - the PATH is half a mile away from the hotel so the walk was longer than we expected (especially when the lady said that the train was "right over there") Overall, I think that this hotel is a very good deal.

Yelp
The location is good. Ten minutes walk to Newport PATH station through the mall. And another 10 minutes to arrive in the city (at World Trade Center). And free parking! Their staff is good too. Although my booking with an agency went wrong twice, they still helped me to check me in. And they kindly allowed me to park in their lot for a few extra hours after checking out. The only thing is the condition. Breakfast is cheap even compared to b&b and sleep-over motels. The building is old and smells, right by the highway. Rooms I stayed (one king-bed room and one standard room) were both kinda disappointing. I'm almost 100% sure the bedding was not changed after the previous customer as the sheets were not even straight and it smelled. For $170 per night, I guess this is what you get near the NYC. The worst thing is they didn't hesitate to disclose their visitors' information to others. I was told the last name, the company, and the position of one of their customers and the manager literally pointed the make&color of that customer's car in the parking lot during our chitchat coz the manager tried to prove people working at 'certain company' do stay at their hotel. I don't think I'll ever book here again. I'd rather spend a 100 more bucks to stay in Marriot Courtyard which is right next to the PATH station and don't worry about my information being disclosed to some random people.

Chuck W.

Yelp
I had stayed there for four days on the third day I left at noon and ask them to replace the towels in the bathroom 8 hours later I returned I had a meeting in about 40 minutes after that and when I got into the bathroom there were no towels I miss my meeting I also missed a $500,000 job as far as I know I would still be waiting for my towels I finally took a shower and drip dried because I couldn't get anybody to bring me towels I've never been treated in such a way of paying in over $100 for a room they called herself a hotel but they're not much better than Motel 6
google avatar

Pat F.

Yelp
I found the place on Google and checked in. They were very helpful and accommodating. The place is close to the Path train into the city. The rooms are clean and a little dated. But that's fine, you get what you pay for. But when your wallet gets stolen out of your room when you go to the lobby to get coffee, it tends to put a damper on things. I would not suggest using this hotel at all for it being insecure and ghetto.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised as I lived in the area years ago and this was not a safe area. We had issues with our Airbnb and decided to call. Kimberly assured us that the hotel was renovated and safe. She was 100% correct! Within walking distance of the PATH, the Newport Mall, and Jersey City/Hoboken attractions. Clean, comfortable rooms with free parking. Staff is excellent- friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Kimberly is AWESOME!!!! Nice breakfast with coffee/tea/water available 24/7. A hidden gem in Jersey City that is not to be missed!

Yelp
This hotel is great. Very neat and clean room. Our room was a king bed it wasn't that big but it was perfect for 2 people. It had a safe to lock up stuff which was very useful. Very friendly, helpful workers and amazing housekeeping services. Good continental breakfast. They called a taxi for us in the morning with no problems. Very helpful front desk staff, they also helped us greatly get around the area and gave us the best advice. It was our first time going away together and we were more than satisfied. Two great things that really helped plan our vacation was that this hotel allows 18+ people to stay (we're 20&19yrs.old) also it is very affordable! Everything about this hotel is great. Can't complain. We would stay again if we come to the area.

Yelp
I love this hotel, it gives you the old European feel, people are really nice, and it has free parking which like nobody else has, you can walk to the path train and be in New York City in a few minutes, the hotel is a little simple but it's my favorite

Yelp
We loved The Holland Hotel, the rooms were nice clean & neat and the staff was helpfull and friendly. The breakfast was amazing. And the subway is just a few blocks away... We will definitely stay there again... the Free parking is a bonus!

Yelp
Holla for the Holland Motor Lodge! Probably 95% of you are going to think I'm a complete freakydeek after this review. THAT SAID, my BF and I went to stay here overnight for his birthday. Yes, the Holland Motor Lodge was our DESTINATION HOTEL. Anyone who fights traffic into the Holland Tunnel from NJ has probably looked at the tunnel-side motel and said "I wonder what's up with that hotel. I mean, who STAYS there???" The answer is now: me! The idea came about when we mused that it would be really awesome to be kicked back with a beverage, nice and relaxed, idling away minutes without a care in the world as we watched enraged commuters (hey, look, it's not us!) cut each other off, red-faced, cursing, and gesticulating wildly with certain fingers, while juggling donuts, a pack of baby wipes and a map. OK, so I'm a schadenfreude, whatever. It was amazing fun, although we'll have to go back on a non-holiday week. Too many folks were away and traffic was too light to provide any hardcore entertainment. The hotel itself was very clean, sheets were fresh, bathroom shipshape. Overall it was "nicer" than I thought it would be, fairly normal if basic. A/C was anemic. Pizza delivery guy was sent right to the bedroom door, so don't let your enemies know you're there or use an alias. There were some old blood stains (I think. Could've been wine or Capri Sun I guess) on the carpet and some, um, white stainage on the desk chair (don't think about it too much; I just put a towel over it)--but, hey, it's the HML. The free Wifi worked like a charm, and staff was friendly. Short walk into Jersey City for dinner. 12pm checkout is great. Don't mind the crazy loud birds chirping in the parking lot; it's a recording to scare real birds away. A little pricer than I thought at $130. But worth it. HML FTW!

Yelp
The short version: A clean, conveniently located hotel for the New York trip without the New York prices. Aptly named the Holland Hotel for it's stones throw distance from the Holland Tunnel, the hotel was a great budget option for staying near New York City. On a recent trip, I shared a room here with 3 other people, and although the beds were a tad on the small size for 2 people each, we made it work. The room itself also had a refrigerator, which proved useful for leftovers, and a desk which proved useful as a trip planning station. Also, despite being close to the tunnel I did not hear a whole lot of noise... or at least not enough to wake me up (others I could see potentially having an issue with this). Along with the accommodations, the hotel provides a free continental breakfast with all the usuals (coffee, juice, donuts, croissants, fruit), which is a great convenience not to have to hunt down breakfast. Although, keep in mind if you have a food snob in your party they will not be impressed, to which you can kindly remind them to save the attitude for the other side of the river. In terms of actually getting to New York City, you can take the PATH (located about a mile from the hotel). Or you can drive into the city using the tunnel, however, for those wanting to drive into New York City (god knows why) keep in mind the tunnel does cost $13..... And that reminds me, no additional cost for parking at the hotel. Love the no hidden costs. So three stars you ask? Well I am just going to say the hotel, although clean, is in need of a makeover. To which you say, but Larissa won't they raise prices if they rennovate.... Probably... So Holland Hotel, I like you just the way you are.

Yelp
Stayed here for price while visiting NYC Christmas scenes. Price - Free Parking - Locations to tunnel - Free Breakfast where the reason my daughter picked this hotel. It is an older hotel, but..........To our surprise it was GREAT!!!! And we will return here for the above reasons and more! The customer service was above and beyond! Never stayed in a cleaner hotel, it was spotless. The breakfast, though squeezed in rather small lobby, was very nice, and attended to the whole time, wiping and resupplying every time someone took something. I left an item in the room and the staff has gone out of their way to get it back to me. I have been to some 5 star hotels that could learn a few things from this hidden gem!!! Especially cleanliness and customer service!

Yelp
We did not have a particularly good time while in New Jersey, BUT The Holland Hotel made up for a lot of the trip shortcomings. the staff was very friendly and courteous, the rates were affordable and the hotel itself was comfy and quaint. If we ever return to the area we will definitely stay at the Holland Hotel. The only down side was its proximity to the tunnel/highway which was noisy and for some reason drivers on it feel the need to honk their horns incessantly while driving by.

Yelp
I can't give this place higher than 3 stars, but it is my favorite place to stay when trying to save some money going into the city. You can almost always get a room with 2 full beds for less than $100/night with free parking and breakfast. I got a room once for $60/night. It's about 15 minutes to the PATH station if you walk through the mall and its parking garage. It's outdated with wood paneling, but I like to stay here because it's very clean. I've read TripAdvisor reviews about druggies and prostitutes, but we've never had a problem. We'll keep coming back.

Yelp
I am late posting my review but here goes. We went to NYC to see the tree at Christmas time. The hotel was extremely clean. Front desk staff was very helpful and polite. They have a lot of tourist brochure in the lobby. They have a great little breakfast in the lobby. Cereal, muffins, donuts, danishes from a local bakery Very clean and stocked well. They did not have Splenda only the pink stuff. Parking lot was very clean and well lit. It was a very great hotel and we WILL stay there again while visiting NYC. This hotel is within walking distance of the Holland Tunnel. You can not walk through the tunnel to NYC :( . The hotel is next to a 24 hour Burger King, this was helpful when coming back to the hotel at 2am.

Yelp
ok, located right before you hit the Holland tunnel this place serves great for a your guest who prefer to have a room while visiting but want to spend next to nothing..here it is. They have updated it recently, so it's not DNA infested (my dad stayed there with his tractor) . It's clean, staff is friendly from what i saw and it's a great location. Walk a block away to path and mall

Yelp
My family and I booked a room at the Holland Hotel for our quick trip to NYC. We couldn't have chosen better! From the moment we walked into the lobby, we were treated like family. We were offered coffee and pastries and allowed to check in early with no additional fee. The woman who worked at the desk, Kimberly, was absolutely delightful and so helpful. She aided us in planning our trip, our transportation, and our schedule and things couldn't have gone more smoothly with her advice. When we were later than expected coming back down, she gave us a call to make sure we were okay. She gave us simple instructions to the PATH station (about a 15 minute walk) and made things so easy. The rooms were a bit small, but spotlessly clean and quite comfortable. Breakfast was a tasty assortment of freshly baked pastries and fruit. The coffee was on constantly and was also great. The rooms are equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges. WiFi and parking are free. I have recommended the Holland to my friends and will definitely stay there again when business calls me to NYC.

Yelp
I am writing to tell anyone going to New Jersey City that they should stay in this lovely hotel. I am writing to express my appreciation for the quality of service the General Manager offered me in regards to his hotel. First - the General Manager is very kind, caring and most importantly: sincere. He truly cares about his client's needs and treats people with the upmost respect. The cost of the hotel, especially in that area is an unbeatable deal and it is a very very clean, cozy, comforting, secure and simply: AMAZING!! I firmly support and recommend anyone visiting New Jersey City to stay in this hotel. It is peaceful, quiet, & you will get excellent service from the staff. Do not miss out on a GREAT place & great people. ~ Alexander

Yelp
Came to stay here all the way from California. The room was clean. Staff was very helpful. Especially the manager, I can't remember his name. Just remember every time I walk through that door he was very welcoming and helpful. My third day there I saw him in the morning and then when we came back at night around 12 AM he was still there. I guess he had to cover some shifts, due to low stuff. However, he still had a smile on his face and still very helpful. I couldn't believe his been working for almost 24 hours. And he had to work till the morning until someone relieved him from his shift. I honestly give it up to this guy. I would've been in a crappy mood lol. I'm sure he was, but he didn't make us feel like he was...I would definitely stay here again.. attitude and customer service is everything. Oh and they have endless croissant

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times now and been pleased with the service. I also stayed in room 140 as Joseph T did and I agree, it is MUCH better to stay on the parking lot side if there's a room available. I slept with earplugs. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. The TV, while not a flat panel, had a good selection of channels. It's very easy to get to the PATH station by walking through the mall and its parking lot. The mall has a nice selection of places to eat, and there are also a few places in the surrounding area. It's very basic but clean, and very convenient if you want to avoid the horror that is rush hour traffic through the Holland Tunnel. I'll definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I was initially going to give this hotel a great review. I was impressed that the first agent extended the courtesy of providing an extra hour for us to check out when we were finally able to check in. Our flight had been delayed so we did not get in to Newark until 5AM and didn't check into this hotel until 6AM. So instead of being happy about that courtesy, we get called at least two times thirty minutes prior to our check out time with some new agent Lisa harassing us about checking out and being very rude about the situation. When I asked to speak with a manager, she was even more rude and spoke to me in a very unprofessional manner. I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism I encountered at a facility that is supposedly in the hospitality service. Then, how are you going to extend a courtesy to a guest and then turn around and act a fool about it? What kind of mess is that? So due to the very rude treatment I received from a front desk agent in a hospitality business, there is no way I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has any self respect and expects better. This place needs to train its employees about what hospitality means and do away with the ones who don't comprehend.

Yelp
This hotel is a gem. The staff was so willing to help and professional, which came as a surprise in a city known for rushed service. The room and breakfast was adequate and the location ideal.

Yelp

Yelp
Yes, it's convenient and cheap, and it has rep for easy "short stay" bookings, i.e. sex hook-ups with prostitutes.

Yelp
Very old place, though clean. Beds were not comfortable! Central location in jersey city/Hoboken area but since it's right by the entrance to the holland tunnel there can be a lot of traffic right around it. Pros: water, OJ, and coffee all day. Some breakfast foods. Free parking.

Yelp
If you are considering a stay at this property, you should be aware of several things. So you have perspective on this review I'll tell you a bit about myself: I am an MBA grad student, visiting NYC to network and meet with several financial firms over a two day period. I don't consider myself a fussy or high maintenance traveler and have never had an issue in any hotel I have stayed. I booked this stay based on proximity to the financial district and the many user reviews saying it was a low priced but good option. I arrived and found the reception desk surrounded by bullet proof glass - yes this is true (only one review pointed this out). The clerk was friendly enough so I was willing to overlook it. I was checked into room 140. The door to the room did not open, requiring staff assistance. Again - willing to overlook. Getting into the room revealed it did not have a full closet, simply a bar bolted into the wall. The sheets and bed linens looked as if they had not been laundered in some time and were of the lowest quality I've ever seen in a motel/hotel. The towels were small and coarse, and while not necessarily dirty did not project an appearance of cleanliness either. I was still willing to try and go with it. After being in the room for about five minutes and hearing four or five car horns; I pulled back the curtains to notice my window was no more than 8 feet off of the road and away from the traffic entering the Holland Tunnel. Now for those of you who have not spent a great deal of time in and around NYC (like myself) the traffic to the Tunnel consists of 4 to 6 lanes of noisy, honking, fighting for position motorists. The car horns do not stop. You might as well be staying on a park bench outside. At this point I visited the front desk, requested a different room, which was granted. OK, this still may be a manageable trip. The new room was one floor up from the previous room and perhaps 10 feet around a corner from the old location. Just as noisy. There is a block of rooms in the hotel (room numbers which end in the mid 70's up to the 80 (odd numbers only), which overlook the parking lot and I imagine are significantly quieter. This was not one of them. At this point I began thinking this may not be the best place to ensure I'd be rested enough to be meeting with very important recruiters and executives the next day. I opened my laptop to find other hotels in the area. Now, this hotel advertises free Wi-Fi, and I don't think it unreasonable to expect a relatively high speed connection. The company that provides the service offers a tiered plan. Free gets you on to check your email and very little else, because it's so slow. Or you can pay for a reasonable speed. While the cost was small (something 3 or 4 bucks a day) it's insulting to book a hotel room without free and unmetered Wi-Fi in my opinion. I arrived with a great deal of work to compete that evening and would have been unable to do so without working Wi-Fi. I promptly used the 3G of my phone which was faster than their "free Wi-Fi" to luckily Priceline a great deal in the financial district. I informed the management I was looking to check out, put this whole experience behind me. and expecting that since they had not provided me anything but inconvenience, that they would refund my entire reservation cost. They refused, saying that they would "let me out of" the following night but would not issue a refund for that night. I'm currently disputing the charge with my credit card company. In short - I would never and will never return to this place again. I can't even imagine family bringing children here. By the way - the walk to the PATH station was not bad on a 60 degree, clear weather evening. However I would not have wanted walk the 15+ minutes in anything other than ideal weather conditions. If you are visiting the city and looking for a bargain, it's not here. This wasn't quite as bad as a stereotypical rat trap motel in a movie, but it was by far the least pleasant motel/hotel I have ever visited. I believe the staff was at least somewhat genuine in their attempts to listen to my concerns; they just simply aren't marketing to a professional clientele. It is what it is. I was told by several people that the owners are basically absentee landlords, who aren't involved in the day to day ops or maintaining good client relations. I'm sorry to be so long winded, I've never left a review on a travel site, but I truly hope to spare at least one person the experience I had this weekend. I personally believe the hotel may be inflating its own rating on the travel sites but have no proof other than a gut feeling. Please use the link and e-mail me if you have any questions.

Yelp
Honestly for the price and location it isn't bad. Just come expecting a good place to sleep and not any frills.

Yelp
Great value for the price! We stayed at this hotel on a Monday and Tuesday night, so it wasn't incredibly busy. We planned to spend most of our trip in New York City and take the PATH train under the river. Upon our arrival at the hotel, the lady at the front desk gave us much information about the hotel and the surrounding area. Despite the lack of elevator, the hotel only has a couple floors, making it easy to access your room. The room was clean and comfortable. The room had a TV, microwave, refrigerator, and safe. The free wifi worked very well, and the free parking was a great value compared to what you would pay in New York City. Coffee, hot chocolate, as well as some baked goods, including croissants and donuts, were available in the lobby every morning, and hot beverages were available all day and night. It was very nice to be able to grab a quick breakfast every morning before starting our day. The PATH station is about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, and the fare is $2.75 per person each way. A mall with many shops is pretty much across the street, so if you want to avoid the New York hassle, you can do your shopping there. Overall, for the price, it was a great hotel with a great location. We all agree that we would stay again.

Yelp
Super friendly, clean, comfortable. We'd definitely stay here again. The front desk gave good directors and suggestions. Very close to the PATH train to NYC. (Just cross the street and walk along the sidewalk along the road going into the holland tunnel)

Yelp
This hotel is great for seeing Jersey City and jumping on the train and going into the city. The rooms are good size and neat and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful and will assist you in any way they can. There are stores nearby to walk to including a very nice mall. If you love ethnic food there is not limit if you know where to go. The only downside is this IS Jersey, and navigating can be confusing even with a GPS. The price of the hotel is average and will not break your bank. I will stay here again, and may even stay and commute to the city instead of staying IN the city. There is adequate parking with no fear for your safety. No one bothered us here. I am trying to think of a negative for not giving 5 stars and am hard pressed. No pool? There you have it.

Yelp
Convenient location (near holland tunnel) with good price ( around 140/night). Front desk is friendly. The room is clean. A little bit small and dim though. Free breakfast with croissants and other pastries. We got up too late after 10.. With no fruits left.

Yelp
The hotel management and staff here are exceptionally friendly. My wife and I rode out hurricane Sandy here after our home was evacuated. They made special accommodations for us and put up with postponement of our checkout date at least three times as we waited for news about moving back home. Our room was small but comfortable and clean. The appliances (TV, refrigerator and microwave) were modern. The continental breakfast was a welcome sight. Every morning: coffee, juice, fruit and croissants, cheese danishes and other pastries.
