Such a cute place! Good value and portion, food was delicious, service was easy friendly and fast. I took a star off because the coffee is terrible and can definitely be better for a breakfast spot.

I have been living in the neighbourhood for more than 5 years now but I don’t know why it took me so long to give this place a try. But I’m glad I did! Loved everything we ordered and it truly felt like home style breakfast. The service was nice and the dishes are reasonably priced and finger licking good. No wonder it’s always packed.

We loved this place! Been here twice and it’s been a great experience. Great food and great service! Would recommend.

Google
If I could give it less than one star, I would. I believe the reason why some people have given it high stars is because they are regular customers and are used to the place. However, the quality of the food is atrocious and I’m not a picky eater. I ordered coffee and yogurt with nuts and seeds, and I can’t tell you how bad it was. No flavour, no texture. That dish was probably the worst thing I ever tasted in my entire life. It was getting stuck to my palette and I just couldn’t swallow it. If it was served in a cheap shop for $2, I could understand it. But $9 for something you couldn’t it in supposedly a nice cafe is beyond my comprehension. Anyway, this was my experience and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Go somewhere where you’ll be treated like a valuable customer and where you can eat something you enjoy for your money. So many great places out there!

My husband and I discovered this charming breakfast spot by chance, and we’re so glad we did! The avocado toast was absolutely delightful, perfectly seasoned and fresh. We also indulged in the buttermilk pancakes, which were fluffy and delicious. Overall, it was a wonderful breakfast experience that we highly recommend!

Google
During our recent visit, we decided to indulge in the Hangover Helper, avocado toast, and coffee. The culinary journey began with the avocado toast, which was a revelation in itself. The creamy avocado spread was perfectly seasoned, and the poached eggs added a rich, velvety texture that elevated the dish to a whole new level of deliciousness. Next, we moved on to the scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes, which were nothing short of outstanding. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and light, seasoned to perfection. The sausage was savory and cooked just right, providing a satisfying, hearty complement to the meal. The pancakes were a highlight, their soft, pillowy texture and subtle sweetness creating a delightful contrast to the other savory elements. Beyond the impeccable food, the customer service was truly commendable. Every member of the staff we encountered was super friendly and consistently checked in on us to ensure we had the best possible experience. Their attentiveness and warmth added a personal touch that made our visit even more memorable. In conclusion, I can confidently say that this establishment delivers on both culinary excellence and exceptional service. It’s a place I would recommend 100% to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience.

My omelette was great and the waiter helped me to modify it according to my dietary restrictions. My only complaint is that the French toast was a little too dry

Google
The food is really good here. I recommend the sinful breakfast - eggs benny with peameal bacon and the salad on the side. The hollandaise sauce was so tasty and they were very generous with it. The poppy dressing for the salad is so tasty too! Unfortunately the place smells quite bad near the kitchen - we were seated in the hall just by the kitchen window, and even upon entering the restaurant I couldn’t help noticing a foul smell. I’m not sure what it is, maybe compost? Either way it made the experience uncomfortable. I’m not sure if it was a one-time thing, or if the smell is always there. I would still come back but I’d try to ask for a seat further back to see if it helps the scent.

Yelp
We came here for a late brunch on a Saturday. We signed up for the waitlist on Yelp so by the time we got there our table was ready. We both got eggs benedict, the Madeline (smoked salmon) and Parma Perfection (prosciutto, tomatoes, balsamic), which both came with a side of our choice. Both eggs Benedict were really good but our favourite was the Parma Perfection! We also ordered an iced coffee each. We weren't fans of the iced coffee as we both prefer something sweeter. Overall it's a good spot to grab brunch if you're in the area!

Yelp
Went here for brunch last Sunday. First time here since moving to the neighbourhood! The staff were very attentive and friendly. It was drizzling a bit but We sat on the patio anyways since we had a dog with us. They had umbrellas outside so we were covered from the rain. We ordered the regular eggs Benedict and the prosciutto Benedict as well -- both were incredibly filling! Great portion sizes for the price. The Hollandaise is thicker than I am used to but delicious all the same. The Benedicts come with a side salad (or home fries) and some fruit as well. All in all, a great neighbourhood brunch spot!

Yelp
Homely feeling. I think its being run by a couple. Great service. Yummy food. Blueberry Pancake was amazing.

Yelp
What a little gem of a place. The food was just wonderful. Felt like a mom and pop restaurant, relatively small and sweet.. I had a fabulous French toast .. one of the best I've ever had, and we also ordered eggs Benedict which was equally delicious . Would definitely return.

Yelp
We went there for brunch last Sunday. We loved that we could check our place in line through the app so we could walk around while waiting for our table. Super friendly staff. We were all happy with our food. I got the Benny with mashed avocado and chorizo and it was delicious. I just wish they had umbrellas for the tables in the patio because we were all melting, but no complaints:) Definitely recommend.

Yelp
I went to The Homeway this morning for brunch and was very disappointed in the service, so disappointed I left and went to another restaurant. I arrived at 10 and was told to grab any free table, which I did. I awaited my two sons arrival 10 minutes later, I was not approached by my server and ignored by all the other staff. When my kids arrived I waited another 10 minutes and watched all the guests who arrived after me get served. The server in the area went out of her way to ignore me. I finally got up and asked for the manager. I was informed there was no manager on duty. I explained my situation and was told, the server for my section of 2 tables, was covering for someone else and was not informed of my arrival. They did not explain why the other server and staff ignored me and my kids. I am not one to bring up race but we were the only black family in the restaurant and were ignored by all. If The Honeway, does not want to serve me because of my skin colour, I am happy to spend my money at another restaurant and will not be visiting this establishment aagain.

Yelp
One of the best brunch places in the area but unsurprisingly, it's busy on weekends, sometimes you can't even order online or get a seat inside, especially during the summer. Their portion sizes used to be bigger but they have since became a lot smaller. I like the huevo Benny since it's unique.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in years, and it's just as I remembered it. Fast service and a good, hearty brunch (trust me, the portions are ginormous, bring your stretchy pants and a BIG appetite), and they have a great kids menu (kids menu portions are humongous as well). It gets very busy on the weekend because it has a winning combo- fast service, good food and affordable! Arrive early and you will be ok! No lineups before 10. A good option for brunch in midtown.

Yelp
Brunch, did I say Brunch?, the patio was great but we moved inside as it was too warm outside - in Toronto on Nov 6, my western omelette was light and fluffy but full with the goods that a western offers, with toast and fresh fruit and jam - staff were really great and I'll be back!Hangover Breakfast

Yelp
Greek omelet $15 with home fries and coffee $3. Green omelet had the tomato, feta and olives on top and only very small chunks you can't really taste of onion and tomato was inside. It was fluffy and very buttery. Only tasted ok, I didn't like the toppings on top it took away from the full flavor. A little bland since it's kinda just eggs with chopped onion then toppings. Home fries were very good. Ordered crispy. Coffee average. He charged $3.50 extra for four small slices of tomato and $3 extra for sliced avocado. $48 total for two omelets, 2 coffees, sliced tomato and avocado. A bit expensive.

Yelp
Just when you think food can't get much worse Honeway comes along and shows us all how it's done. The worst brunch you can find in Toronto for the highest price. Their grills are dirty, your chicken will be covered in black crap because they don't clean it. Baked beans? Looks like some threw a few things unseasoned into a pot a few days ago and it's inedible. Fries? Soggy, flavorless and unseasoned. Probably the most inedible item is the club. Please god do not get the club. It's vile. I tried calling to speak to the manager, the wait staff said there wasn't one and they didn't know when they would come back. I sat on hold for 10 minutes and still no manager from their smoke break. Disgusting. Please avoid with your life. Everything is tasteless, soggy, under seasoned and served with no care for your hard earned money. STAY AWAY!

Yelp
Came here on a weekday for brunch/lunch, and there was plenty of seating on their patio so we had our pick. Our waitress was really attentive and made sure that she checked up on us. She made sure to clean our table before we sat down which we appreciated. My husband ordered their classic eggs Benedict with home fries, and I had their not so traditional club sandwich with fries. Food was really good, we both really enjoyed our meals and was so satisfied after. We already have plans to come back again! Prices were very reasonable and portions were very good. Their food tasted fresh and hearty! Definitely cannot wait to come back! Would recommend that you come during off peak times as there isn't a lot of patio seating space.

Karen E.

Yelp
Best Eggs Benedict in the city. Service is friendly and fast. It's easy to see why you have to battle the crowds for weekend brunch.
google avatar

Olya S.

Yelp
I was here for breakfast. The restaurant is quite small and I guess the experience depends on where you sit. I had a good place and I was comfortable. I saw some people sitting in the hallway facing the kitchen. The service was nice. I ordered Eggs Benedict with salad. They were pretty good but nothing special. Coffee was not good. I don't think I would come here again.

Cansu Y.

Yelp
The service was fast as always and staff is friendly!! I would highly recommend this place for a delicious breakfast!

Yelp
Nothing bad about the Homeway at all. Food is fresh, hot to the table tasty, presented well served by great staff. Jessica, keep up the great work you got a reputation far exceeding others. Colin and Alexx Crooke

Yelp
I ordered breakfast for delivery with 2 fruit bowls. None of the fruit was trimmed, not even the pineapple bark was removed. If they're to lazy to prep the fruit are they also too lazy to wash it? Probably.. but more importantly and the reason for this post is because a piece of the melon they served me had a BITE MARK taken from it. They obviously took the fruit garnish from a used plate and gave it to me. Disgusting!! They should be ashamed!!

Yelp
Great breakfast. Perfect for an early morning or brunch. Could be a bit cleaner with cutlery and cups but the food is worth it and the staff are quick to fix anything out of order. Also reasonably priced and had milk alternative options!

Yelp
Came for lunch today on a nice and quiet Friday afternoon. I ordered the Montreal smoked meat on rye with the soup of the day, which was chicken and lime, and the soup was pipping hot when it came to the table. The soup was nice and savoury, and I loved that it had lots of vegetables - it reminded me a borscht soup, except with shredded chicken instead of beef. As for the sandwich, looks were certainly deceiving because I thought the portion looked rather small on such a big plate but it turns out that they really heaped the smoked meat into it. The meat was really tender and flavourful so I'm glad that was the case. The crust of the rye bread was a bit hard in contrast to the soggier middle, but it was still good. I was curious, however, where my pickle went since it was written in the description on the menu but was nowhere to be found in my sandwich. The staff were all very friendly and overall, this seems to be a nice place to enjoy a weekday brunch.

Yelp
Great family friendly diner. Try any of the Benedicts and you won't be disappointed. The omelets are fantastic. We go almost every week for the friendly staff and great food

Yelp
It was a great place for brunch, a little noisy but it was ok for us. Of course, I'll be there again very soon.

Yelp
Quiet and cozy brunch spot uptown. Discovered it on of my last minute searches for a brunch spot. The wait list feature though yelp is awesome, so I could actually put my name down for a table before I got there. The place was pretty busy still so we had about a 10 min wait. Our hostess was kind and waiter was friendly. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the big breakfast. Bottomless coffees of course. Food was pretty tasty, just like the many brunch spots we have. My eggs were properly cooked, sauce was good and home fries were tasty. Nothing that blew my mind but nevertheless good. We ordered a side of French toast which was delicious. Our table kinda smelled like cleaning products which was the only thing that bothered me. Overall A decent spot in that area.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Nice place to have brunch! The "Parma Perfection" and "Sinful Benedict" were delicious, everything was fresh, and the portions were more than enough. The cappuccino was ok, though, I expected more.

Ksenia K.

Yelp
Great brunches for the whole family, very cozy atmosphere and nice service! the best bennies in the area!

Yelp
We ended up at Homeway because Lady Marmalade had a long wait. Glad that we did because the food at this place was GREAT ! Staff was pleasant ! Food came out in a fashionable time ! Definitely big portions and the prices were very inexpensive ! The only downside was an awkward smell throughout the restaurant that I couldn't shake ! But it definitely didn't stop me from enjoying my breakfast ! Would definitely recommend this spot for a decent breakfast !

Yelp
I came here with my husband for brunch on the weekend and this place was packed. The environment wasn't the most glamourous looking. It looked just like a diner. I order the pulled pork eggs benny and it was delicious. The BBQ pulled pork was mouthwatering, tender and saucey. The eggs were made to perfection, running yolk burst out as soon as I poked them open. The only complaint for me was the home fries. They were not crispy at all and tasted very bland. My husband ordered the hangover helper breakfast (of course) and it was massive. It came with a choice of buttermilk pancakes or cinnamon french toast, 2 eggs, fruit garnish, a choice of bacon or sausage, home fries, toasts and baked porky beans. The pancakes were very fluffy and delicious. It was a great portion for a man like him. I'd say this place is worth a try if you're in the area because it offers great value for the price.

Matthew D.

Yelp
not sure what everyone else is on about, harshly rating this place 3/5 because two of their home fries weren't crispy... and mine were perfectly crispy. I came here with a friend today and the food was quick, hot, well-made and delicious. waitress was attentive as was the cook to whether we wanted condiments with our food. 5/5, ignore the prior reviews, really enjoyed this place.

Nathalie E.

Yelp
Poor customer service. Reserved a table, didnt get a text saying that it was ready and as soon as we asked they said they gave it away and have to wait all over again

Brendon B.

Yelp
Casual but elevated brunch fare in a classic diner setting. Big portions and fast service. Would recommend!

Yelp
Our family has been eating here at least once a month for a decade. The staff are great, the eggs Benedict to die for. Their burgers are also great. They make most of the sauces, grind their own meat, cook their own beans. Our go-to brunch place. And with a nice patio for the summer!
google avatar

Yelp
To the restaurant: please remove tables in the corridor: sitting your clients there is disrespectful. The fact that some people do not recognize it or choose to ignore it does not make it ok. We were given an option to either leave or wait for another table to open (i.e. to delegate the shitty experience to someone else), we said no. We also were hungry, so we stayed and ate, but romantic brunch this was not. If I just want to eat quickly, I will go to McDonald's and overall experience will be better. Food-wise the place is ok. I had eggs Benny and their hollandaise is on a salty side, but that's a matter of taste I suppose. Their home fries are pretty good. Respect your customersand respect yourselves.

Juliana C.

Yelp
The whole experience was not good! They do not respect the waiting list, it starts with a long wait and people coming after you getting a table before you, and no we were a party of 3, not a big group! Food is ok, however there was hair in my eggs and french toast was dry! Service is slow! Very disappointed with the whole customer experience!

Aahna S.

Yelp
Very tasty breakfast and very convenient location wise. Eggs benedict and their house fries are very good.

Yelp
Cute, homey restaurant located in the Mount Pleasant and Eglinton area. This place is popular with the locals, with families always coming for brunch on weekends. This places serves up your basic brunch items, like omelettes and pancakes. Every day, this joint usually have a special juice (tip: try any of their juices, they are super fresh and worth the price). Wait time depends on when you go. I've come here at both off times and busy times. Off time (10 am), you'll get seated right away. Busy times (12 pm), it will take you usually 30 minutes. If you are an egg Benedict lover, make sure to try theirs (their hollandaise is out of this world, super creamy and amazing hint of lemon).

Yelp
Incredible!!! Cannot recommend this place enough! Went to meet my aunts at The Homeway, it's a local place for her. We went to celebrate my sons 8th Birthday. Our server, Jessica and the rest of the staff were friendly and super helpful. The food was delicious, quite a large portion (we had to bring some home with us) I got the Madeline Benny (salmon Benny) so good!! They even surprised us with a cake and candles! If your looking for a friendly local spot with great food.. look no further, The Homeway will deliver!

Jayne C.

Yelp
I ordered the Greek omelette. The presentation was pretty and the service was mediocre. The waitress didn't ask me if I wanted jam, ketchup or hot sauce. But the food was horrible. The omelette was runny and fell apart. The home fries were cold. I kept finding hairs in my food. I could only stomach the fruit and toast. Such a waste of money and time. I will not be returning.

Carra K.

Yelp
When we first got there the knife had egg yolk on it. They happily got us a new clean one but that should've been our first red flag... french toast was just straight up bread. Baked beans were literally the whitest discoloured beans I've seen in my life. Coffee tasted like metal. We were really disappointed :((
google avatar

Kiki M.

Yelp
Host texted us that our table was next and then was nowhere to be found. He told previous waiting patrons that they could sit in the Muskoka chairs while they waited, so that's what we did, and then he said next time I should check in with him. So we were supposed to go run around and hunt him down? Pancakes and coffee were really good but my bf was underwhelmed by the pulled pork benny. The fruit cup was $6.50 and not impressive. Especially the pineapple with the core still on it! Spotted server chatting away with a friend for 10 mins and we eventually went inside to pay cuz we were being seriously neglected. Felt like everything was sorta half-assed. Too bad. Loved the pancakes.

Yelp
A very homey (pun intended) brunch spot. The place was packed on a Saturday but absolutely worth it. Best home fries ever and refillable coffee

Yelp
What looks like a quaint little joint, turns into a bustling hotspot once you enter the front door of The Homeway. I ordered the Huevos con Chorizo, which looked really appetizing as it was placed in front of me, but a few bites in had me reaching over for the salt shaker and hot sauce a couple times. Regardless, the service in general was great. It would've been a big hit if I could say the same with the food. The Homeway is still great to check out - I'll definitely give this place another visit in the future though.

Yelp
Great spot! Very very good and attentive service! Busy on weekend as all awesome places are! First time in my life I had mango fruits served in a restaurant without asking for it! :) thanks!

Yelp
Great service. Nice large portions. Very tasty, and a nice atmosphere. Eggs Benny's are delicious and they have plant based milk options also.

Yelp
This neighbourhood breakfast spot was just fine. We got the bacon and eggs in different iterations. The portions are very large, including the kids portions. The food was average, and so was the price. The bacon was a little bit underdone, and everything was a big under-seasoned, but it was a perfectly respectable breakfast. The service was good, coffee was always refilled, and the food came out fast. No reason to travel here, but if you're in the neighbourhood, might as well give it a try.

Yelp
I really didn't want to write this review. I'm staying with a friend and it's walking distance from this place. I figured this would be my go-to breakfast place. When I asked her what the deal was she paused, and in her Canadian way, said, "You know...there's always a problem." That sounded cryptic but not awful. So we went. We walked in at about 11AM on a Sunday and it was, predictably, busy. We gave our name and were told there was a 15 minute wait. After about five minutes I saw one open counter seat and one that seemed like you could sit at it if someone moved a cake tray. I brought it up and the waitress asked the somewhat frustrated seeming managed and they cleared the space for us. We sat down. We ordered food and I ordered a coffee. She ordered a latte. We got our drinks. Without spoons. And without sugar or milk. We had to grab it from another diner. When we asked about the spoons I was told "we don't have any spoons right now." That should have been the ballgame. I should have called it right there. I didn't. And then we waited. For like 35 minutes. And it never came. And with kitchen staff so close to us that I could see how well they'd done their nails, the only coffee refill I got was when I flagged someone down to ask for it. The only time anyone checked on us it was...odd. At some point the hostess, about 30 minutes after we first got there, called our name for our table. Which A) says that the wait was a little longer than 15 minutes and B) Even when she seated us, she kept us on the list. So that was a little weird right? But we called it. Eventually, after seeing people who came in after us get served THEIR food, I asked for our food to go. And while I can't prove it, I'm pretty sure our order got lost. Maybe it's because our seats were in a no man's land where cake dishes usually are. Or because they thought we were still on the seated list. Or maybe our order just went to wherever the spoons disappeared to. But about 10 minutes after we asked for our order then gave it to us in bags and we left. We walked the block or so back. We opened up the bags and...my order was wrong. The steak wasn't medium rare and I asked for the porky beans and got the potatoes instead. Look this math is simple: the amount of time you wait for food should be directly correlated to how good it is. If you go to a greasy spoon diner with mediocre food but it takes three minutes to get in front of you? Then that quality is fine. That's fair and appropriate. Conversely, if you wait an hour for a meal, then it better taste like something that makes Elvis want to come come back from the dead for seconds. And when food IS that good? Then the wait is fine. The Homeway's food is mildly better than greasy spoon quality. And if I'd gotten it in 15 or 20 minutes? I'd have been fine with it. But they make you wait forever for it. I mean if I'm being honest, I'm pretty sure, with us directly in front of them at a counter, they forgot about us. And when we got the order it was wrong. Which makes this breakfast math a bad equation. Let me be clear. They're all very pleasant. And the place is cheerful and bright. And it is convenient. And the pancakes were tasty. But unless you've got an hour or so to kill to wait for them, maybe try somewhere else.

Yelp
Read some of the positive reviews for The Homeway and decided to give it a try today (Thursday, approx. 10am). We walked in and it looked like a very welcoming place, nice interior. We were seated quickly as it was a weekday morning and not too many people were out trying to get breakfast. I figured we would have a good chance of receiving prompt service and food as the restaurant only had about 6-7 other tables who were all already currently eating their food. I was sadly mistaken. The server took our order, but did not write it down. We received our drinks quickly, but that's about as far as our hopes for this place lasted. We waited a good 45 minutes to receive our food. Our server came by with another table's food and we thought "okay, we must be next." But we did not get any verbal reassurance that our food was on the way. After the mistaken food was brought to us, it took another 10+ minutes for our food to come out. The server gave us our dishes and did not bother to apologize for the long wait. Shortly after we received our food, the table beside us who had just sat down about 10 minutes before we received our food, had also now received their meals. Now on to the food: I had ordered the basic breakfast--Homefries were overdone to a crisp. I'm pretty sure they refried those potatoes more than once as they were 90% inedible. I found 2-3 home fries that still resembled a potato. The scrambled eggs were fine and peameal bacon was blackened on the bottom. I hated to say it, but the toast with jam packets was the best part of the meal. There were a couple of other issues that I won't go into, but the basics of a good restaurant experience: service and food were completely missed during our visit to The Homeway today. I will not be returning here.

Yelp
I really liked the place, and I don't understand why the rating as of today is so low! I knew Madelaine D. couldn't be wrong. We came here for a late brunch on a Saturday morning. They don't take reservations for less than 5 people, but we were able to find a table for 2 with minimal wait. The place is small and narrow, and with everyone in there, very cozy. The patio outside seems like a great addition the summer. My coffee was never empty, and the server was quite friendly. There were SO many things to choose from, including over 6+ omelettes, and 3 benedicts, and CHALLAH FRENCH TOAST. I don't know what it is, but I'm a sucker for Challah. I have to come back and have this. All omelettes come with home fries and choice of toast (including Challah). But since this was my first time here, I have to have my inaugural eggs benny (Florentine). It was good, and smothered with hollendaise, but I found the sauce a little too tart (lemony) for my taste. Home fries were fresh and tasty. If ever I'm looking for brunch in the area, I would come back here! They only take cash or debit.

Yelp
Never again. I was a fan for a long time, but having waited for over an hour for pancakes on a quiet weekday afternoon, I'll never be back. After an hour and fifteen minutes when I saw tables that arrived after me get their food, I told the server I was leaving. She asked me if I wanted my food to go I said sure. They gave me my meal for free: yay burnt pancakes and undercooked bacon.

Yelp
This pains me to write as we were regulars up until today. The food was good and this was our go-to breakfast spot at Yonge and Eg, however something in this restaurant is lacking. Today was our second occurrence in the past week that left us forgotten about. The first occurred on Dec 28 where the kitchen allegedly forgot to make our food. We were there 45 minutes waiting while tables around us received their food, this is after we enquired with multiple staff that seemed confused. Our server on that occasion was very good and apologetic and offered to package our breakfast as we had appointments to get to. That visit took about an hour before we had food. We returned today, Jan 5 and with our last experience on our minds, thought we would give them another chance. We were seated quickly as they weren't busy. However we waited at least 12 minutes, staff were walking all round us, noticing us, but walking away. One server asked how the table beside us was doing, looked at us with our menus stacked, took out his notepad and pen, hesitated, then walked away from us. Whether it's better communication or training, your staff and restaurant needs work. We will not be returning based on these last 2 experiences. Not a great way to start the day.

Yelp
Very disappointing food. Almost everything we ordered was underwhelming. Eggs weren't properly cooked, service was lousy, patio has no shade, very uncomfortable seats and table. This is not a good place to eat don't go here
