This place is permanently closed. The once great Horned Dorset is now overgrown with weeds and trees. Hasn't been open since Hurricane Maria. Stopped by 03/05/2025. Gate locked with chain and mega lock. Guard house moss covered and unoccupied.

We had an incredible stay at the villa! It was exactly as pictured—beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. This was a last-minute booking after our original Airbnb turned out to be disappointing and not what we expected, partly because the property wasn’t walkable due to high tides. Thankfully, Ileana came to the rescue! She was amazing, kind, and so accommodating, truly saving our vacation. The property itself is stunning. As soon as you open the door, you’re greeted by an outdoor patio and a pool. The house’s decoration, inspired by a 1950s Puerto Rican style, was absolutely beautiful and nostalgic. After living away from Puerto Rico for 15 years, it was such a special experience to return with my family and daughter to show them where I was born. This villa made it even more meaningful. The property also features a private infinity pool and a kids’ pool, making it a quiet and relaxing retreat for both adults and children. Everything about this stay was amazing, and I can’t recommend it enough!

* Porto Rico a friend told me of this spot, was from P.R. ,I rent a vehicle .You need one to get there. Beautifully located, Comfortable , Clean . Superb views and architecture , world class location. . The staff see that you are very comfortable and private . My favorite place to stay in Puerto Rico. I almost want to keep this for my self . A gem that Is more difficult to find now a days ! ( Time it right , and the surfing. can get to world class as well ! Expert level conditions , not far from there .* Not for a beginner surfers . Although it can be very enjoyable to watch . If your on a limited budget , I suggest checking out other locations.I enjoy it there. It’s my go to place when I go to P.R. and will return again and again .

You won't find a nicer, more exclusive, luxury hotel on the island. Imported marble floors with terrific beach views. The area is very nice for tourist. Everyone spoke English and the staff was amazing. I will be spending my next couple vacations at this fantastic hotel.

There are great views from here. The grounds are very nice. We were not happy with dinner here though. Despite speaking with the manager ahead of time, & with the chef prior to dinner, they had nothing more for dessert for our fixed price dinner other than fruits, saying they ran out of things. For a high end restaurant, I expect much more & neither did the manager come to apologize or make amends on our bill. For that, & the lack of vegetarian ingenuity, I cannot give this more than an average rating for the restaurant. Bottom line: not worth the money. You can get the views elsewhere. But if the meal had been better, the evening sunset views while dining are nice & appropriate for a romantic special evening.

Amazing setting. Feels like you are in the last breath of a colonial estate. Minor damage post Maria, but up and running. Two story rooms with a plunge pool. Restaurant food and service are great, enjoy an amazing meal on the ocean. Service and cleanliness is spotty. Location, food, and enthusiasm make up for it.

Excellent stay, was recommended a mobile massage from Palm’s Embrace who came directly to our rental and made my birthday trip extra special.

This is the most beautiful hotel in Puerto Rico. Make sure to have breakfast by the beach! The people are very warm hearted. Full service kitchen. Staying here made us feel like Kings and Queens.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast. It was very minimalist - the server, who may well have been our cook too, just listed the 5 or 6 options out (omelette, eggs, french toast, and maybe one or two other options) after arriving with coffee and orange juice. The French toast was good but was the same bread as the toast. The omelette was prepared well with fresh ingredients, but nothing outstanding about the food. The ability to eat in what appears to be the lobby, among several different options for seating, which all overlook the ocean, was definitely the highlight of the meal.

Yelp
Huge Letdown I booked this trip in February based on the rating, so I was hugely shocked at the condition of the premises when we arrived in July. We had no hot water and were told they had a broken line that day that was just fixed. Thirty minutes later, we still had no hot water. After reading recent reviews for June and July, lack of hot water was a recurring theme. Our room had no TV and was in need of repairs. A wall fixture had a broken lampshade and had a hole in the wall where it was mounted. The shower knob also didn't properly fit the hole in the tile. The soffit under the roof was rotten and had a gaping hole staring at us from our pool. The beach and grounds had litter strewn about. I have never written a poor review of any hotel booking, but this place was a shit show!

Yelp
Honestly, this place was beyond my wildest imagination. I don't even know where to begin... the rooms are absolutely stunning, with delightful fixtures and beautiful details everywhere. The view, oh my God the view... we fell asleep to the beautiful hum of the ocean and watched numerous sunsets. The entire property was well appointed, and you could see they really put love into every single detail. This was literally one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, place to relax, restore, unwind and take it all in. The staff went above and beyond to make our trip spectacular. Wilhem, Elliott and Tony treated us like a family, and we truly can't wait to return. The yoga room was unbelievable, the view, the design, attention to detail was impeccable on the entire property. This will definitively be our home away from home.

Yelp
Just amazing and one of the best hotel experiences we've had anywhere. Our oceanfront room, though really a small villa, was tastefully decorated with a Moroccan theme and a good size plunge pool overlooking the blue ocean. Everything was top-notch in our unit, from the comfortable king bed to the Bose stereo system. Honestly the place was a-little too big for us, with multiple rooms that could have slept 4-6 people...not a complaint, rather it just shows you get a lot for the money here. But what sets this hotel apart is the privacy. You have complete privacy from your neighbors and hotel personnel. We felt like celebrities taking a hide-away weekend. It was just perfect as we wanted to disconnect from the outside world, spend time with one another and drink champagne while watching the sun set. The Horned Dorsett is an absolute if you are visiting the western coast of PR and want a romantic place to call home for a few days. We stayed in room 15 Definitely check them out - you won't regret it!

Yelp
This hotel is everything it's touted to be. Elegant and luxurious while listening to the sound of the ocean. From your private plunge pool (which comes standard with every room), or from your second story bedroom under your canopied bed. Check in is simple; checkout is simpler. And everything in between is simply elegant. Both of the restaurants on site were great as well. Again, nothing here is cheap, but the overall experience is so, so, SO good that I found it was worth it.

Yelp
We wanted our last meal to be a little upscale and decided to give Chateau Rose a try. Wow! We started with sunset cocktails on the veranda, over looking the ocean. Perfect place for that. Then on to a very romantic dinner upstairs, again right over the crashing waves. Dinner was fantastic (carrot/fennel soup, escargot, snapper, and guava cheese cake). Service was spectacular!

Yelp
Love this place. Being a Puertorrican I enjoy doing internal tourism, and I'm very glad I have found this place. Each room is a gem, all of their suites are very unique, giving you the experience of being at another place. Great for a romantic getaway. Very peaceful. Also pet friendly. Is true that they need some renovations, but I know they are working on them. For me is a 5 stars, but again the areas need some improvement. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing stay, and gorgeous views... This is the right place!

Yelp
Yes, Yes, and Yes. This is one of the best properties all year (I have been to a lot). Long story short - I escaped to PR after my house got flooded on Long Island. I stayed at 2 other properties (including the St Regis) and this was the best one. First off, you're in Rincon. As a surfer of over 20 years , this location was perfect. I would get up every morning, go surf, come home, go swim, repeat. The perfect routine. The property itself is great. While I didn't spend much time on the grounds, I will refrain from making a comment. I will tell you this - the rooms were very nice and each room comes with a private plunge pool. Can't go wrong there. The Horned Dorset is a smaller property so the attention to detail is impeccable and every employee is very friendly. Good place. I have traveled to PR over four times this year and this was my favorite hotel.

Yelp
I've got mixed feelings about this place. Pros: great attention to detail in the hotel room. It's very luxurious and private. The room even has its own private plunge pool. It's a great place for a couples' escape. The room service and restaurant service are stellar. The restaurant itself is amazing--the best one I've visited in Puerto Rico, and right up there with the best restaurants I've visited in big American and European cities. Wilhem is awesome. If you ever have any issues, don't mess around--go directly to him and he will make sure it's sorted out. Cons: The hotel maintenance seems sub-par for such a pricey hotel, especially one that touts itself as super-exclusive. When we arrived, it had been raining, so a section of the hotel (the rooms near the check-in area) smelled like sewage. When my husband told the young man at the reception area about this, he told us that "it was the plants that smell this way", and to "wait it out". He later admitted it was sewage pipes that smell like that when it rains. We did get moved to another room (upon my insistence), but this room had not been prepped, and sections of it were dirty, there were no bathrobes and some toiletries were missing. Again, I would expect this at a lesser hotel, but not this type of resort. So--I definitely have mixed reviews about this hotel. Since I visit PR often, I will probably give it a second chance, but if I have the same problems I had during my first visit, I may write it off for good...

Yelp
"An extraordinary retreat. The finest of everything." The Horned Dorset is that rare place generally shared very quietly - among friends - and only to SOME of your friends. It is a place you would never want spoiled. It is true - it feels like your home. And as Anne Morrow once wrote "I shall invite into my shell, only those with whom I can be completely honest". It is quiet. It is resplendent. The management is perfect and personal - it is apparent that each guest is the personal responsibility of your hosts. The chef is stunning and the food is accordingly amazing. The entire staff cares for you as if you are guests in their home - -for example - two hours after our arrival - as we were enjoying wine with our friends on couches in the bar/library - - the waiter came with a smile and a tray - and very gently announced "excuse me, but it is important that we should move you to the terrace just over there. The sun is setting now - you should be there to enjoy it." And indeed we did enjoy a perfect sunset.... Dinner was exquisite. We had opted for the meal plan - thus It began with a pureed mushroom soup, followed by salmon gravlax, then beef filet (I substituted roasted breast of duck) and then baked chocolate pie ( which my husband adored) - I substituted for a chocolate cake with a molten coconut center and coconut ice cream on the side - and this was exceeded only by a friend's raspberry souffle with cream anglaise and cinnamon ice cream on the side. - Near the conclusion of our meal - as our post-dessert coffee was being served, our waiter took a moment to explain to us where breakfast would be served in the morning - and a few other details pertinent to our stay - just as you would explain to guests in your home. The suites - a small apartment in fact - are furnished with incredibly beautiful traditional furniture. They feature a living room, full bath, kitchen, espresso maker and terrace with lounge chairs, table, patio with market umbrella and plunge pool downstairs - and a wonderful bedroom and sitting room upstairs - with a canopied bed, enormous elegant bathroom, huge footed whirlpool tub, rain shower, 2 sinks etc - and a balcony terrace overlooking the ocean....upstairs. Two larger pools with terraces and lounge chairs etc - - - one an infinity overlooking the ocean - were delightful and peaceful. The "main" building, for dinner, lunch and breakfast - - with bar and library - featured open terraces -and intimate, exquisitely decorated air conditioned rooms - just incredible. This is a quiet sophisticated place. Do not come here looking for a party - unless you rent the entire hotel for a group - - - and do not make a party - - those around you are relishing the peace and gentility. Should you want to explore beyond the hotel - there is much to do and enjoy in Rincon. For example, we chartered a catamaran from the nearby marina and enjoyed a morning on the water - at the well known Tres Palmas Marine Sanctuary - snorkeling and looking for whales. This is a wonderful wonderful place for a true escape. Oh - and while the drive from the San Juan Airport is a couple of hours - there is a helicopter pad just across the road from the hotel - the manager will greet you there and see you off at the end of your stay. You may wish to ask about this when you book your reservations. It is a lovely way to travel and see a bit of the island by air.

Yelp
Beautiful retreat! The silence and serene setting is priceless. I love the fact the ocean is right at my balcony next to my private plunge pool. The suite has a moroccan feel to it yet it needs a little TLC. Since it's the off season in Rincon right now, the hotel restaurant is unavailable so prepare to drive for breakfast, lunch and dinner at least for 15 minutes. If you're willing to cook, each suite has a small kitchen but it's not stocked so buy a couple of pots, pans and plastic utensils/plates and visit the local grocery store to stock up on goodies. Our stay here has been very nice. It's a great getaway for locals!

Yelp
Review only for restaurant 'Chateau Rose' - we were staying at the villas not at hotel. Hotel was practically empty maybe due to summer season. We were greeted by Jose who soon we learned will pretty much take care of our evening. Jose did not disappoint and neither the food. We had the best table in the house overlooking the ocean and the playa below but that can be said of any table along the outdoor veranda. Here's the thing about this place, it is magnificent. It may not last long but if you have the privilege of dining at this beautiful house do it soon. It is probably the most expensive meal you will have in PR but worth every dollar. The setting, the ocean, the music, amazing service and spectacular food.

Yelp
This is an amazing property, but an old one. The air conditioning never worked, Water made its way through the windows, along with a roach. The Room on the First floor was smelly and the wall had mold. I left a day before it was supposed. The pool was the Best. Just To make it clear, there are no TV in the room or premises. The Villa has two king rooms, but children are not allowed. The people in charge are too young to mind any complaint. So don't expect much. The restaurant is exquisite, but pricey. The portions are gourmet size ( tiny).

Yelp
Very dated hotel. Not American resort quality. I was told the story of the Clintons staying in my suite. That was probably the last time they updated the room. For Rincon the resort may be 5 star but in San Juan it would be a local hotter and not a tourist destination. Very unfortunate since I really was looking for a high end experience.

Yelp
Terrible, terrible and terrible. We spent 1,300. a night. There was no one around to check us in; their signage is non existing; the surrounding area is downright scary...and we have only been here less than hour. Right now I would give this place a minus sign it is that bad.

Yelp
Chateau Rose- hotel restaurant Sitting out, over the ocean, listening to the crashing waves made for spectacular ambiance for dinner. The service was attentive, formal yet not stuffy. The food was fresh and tasty. Plantain soup, escargot, catch of the day, all well prepared, proportioned well and don't forget to have delicious dessert. Many people told us not to spend the money to dine here and they were all wrong. This place deserves a chance, get rid of gossip and here say and plan to have a memorable dining experience at Chateau Rose.

Lindsey W.

Yelp
This review is for the dinner service only - we stayed offsite at a different hotel. We were the only diners the night we were there, which made the atmosphere even more romantic than it already was. We started by watching the sunset over the ocean from their veranda, then enjoyed wine for a half hour, and then were seated for dinner. We were served a 4 course meal that delighted with every bite and featured a lot of local flavors. Each course had beautiful presentation and was cooked to perfection. It is pricey ($85 pp plus tax and tip) but is well worth it for a special occasion.

Yelp
We stayed at one of the villas last week and had a blast. What a wonderfully relaxing retreat. The grounds are absolutely lovely. We are at the hotel's restaurant, Primavera, twice. Cocktails were tasty and the food was both beautifully presented and delish. Try the grilled lobster and the uber fresh seafood salad. For lunch, try the primavera club sandwich. I promise, you'll come back for more...

Yelp
An amazing luxury resort. Most romantic experience coming from a world traveler. We've returned twice since our first vaca there. They catered to our every need, very sexy and romantic, intimate atmosphere. The food was beyond amazing by famous Cheif who came out to introduce himself and knew us by first name. Amazing experience!

Viviana S.

Yelp
I cannot say how terrible and disappointing this place is. It is marketed as a great tourist hotel and it is far from that. There is little to no staff. I saw only 2 gentlemen. And those were to help us with the check in process! The suite may have offered breathtaking views but the suite itself was in disrepair. The air conditioning in this suite was not working properly and we were offered a different suite. In the alternate suite the bathtub fixtures were leaking water. We used the standup shower and water escaped and puddled on the floor. We had to be extremely careful not to fall as the floor is tiled marble. And to add insult to injury....they attempted to overcharge our credit card by almost $750!!! And they never issued a confirmation email. We never stayed the night. We did have reservations for 2 nights. The young gentleman named Chris was of little help when confronted with all these issues. We decided to leave . My husband gave him the room key and Chris told him he would charge our credit card anyways! Omg!!! I had to go through the trouble of disputing 2 of their charges from the island which has spotty reception anyways. Overall....a horrible experience.

Yelp
The pictures on the website are about 15 years old. The room was musty, humid and warm. Bathroom upstairs in master bedroom was flooded by AC unit condensation. No TV in bedroom. Understaffed in grounds keeping and maintenance. I would be embarrassed to call their gym facilities a gym if I was them. Dead flies throughout resort. Does not compare to a Marriott. Forget comparing to a Ritz Carlton. There are better resort for the money.

H E.

Yelp
When I read some of the glowing reviews I feel like I must have been in a different place. Clearly this was an amazing property at one time. But two weeks ago we found it to be very run down and not at all as advertised. We stayed about 1/2 hour an then moved on. Kudos to Expedia for refunding our reservation promptly. The room was $460 with a $100 resort fee on top of that. Based on the web site and some of the reviews, we were looking forward to our stay. We were very disappointed. The room reeked of mold/mildew, the grounds and facilities were in varying degrees of repair, and the staff of one, had not been properly trained to provide service. This was not his fault he was trying hard but the management had clearly not made this a priority. Additionally, the restaurant was not operating. We are certainly willing to pay for a high end experience, but this property does not come close to to that level.

Noel F.

Yelp
Severely over priced. Severely. I've traveled all over the world and there is no way in hell this place should be charging $1300 a night. The rooms are beautiful but the price is ABSURD. They should be charging somewhere around $800 TOPS for these rooms. If it was all inclusive I could understand. It's robbery. The hotel seems poorly run with little to no staff because they have only 12 rooms yet the property is monstrous!!Personally I feel the hotel's operational structure is completely incorrect. I like luxury but if you are going to consider yourself the best of the best then you have to understand what standards you will be held to..... It's not just about nice decor and to be completely honest the decor was eclectic but not maintained. The lobby had light bulbs out everywhere, the furniture was dusty and the picture frames were crooked all over the walls. I personally never stayed at the hotel but I've always wanted to and during my past visit I asked for a tour and could immediately see why no one talked about it ever. It's not worth the money in my opinion and believe me, I like the finer things in life. We did however eat the pre fixed dinner menu for $69 each. Besides the stale bread the food was very good. The server was clueless and the woman helping him didn't speak a lick of English. I would imagine the owners are wealthy living somewhere else and having nothing to do with the day to day.
