The hostel Zandpoort

So, the pros It's in a really good location across from bars and near the centre. It's cheap. It's a bed for the night The rooms are big The staff are friendly The cons. So unlike anywhere I've ever stayed you have to make your own bed, The pillow (or pillows in my case as nobody else was in my room) were flat, the blanket was like this ruff blue army one,the mattress was hard. Check in is 5pm (every review says this and its true you cannot check in any earlier) Overview. If your on a budget and want to visit this remarkable city I can recommend coming here if its for a short period.

Quite good, a functional, modern building, with a nice garden. Simple meals, odd concrete decor. Small things such as lack of pegs for towels and easily irritated staff loose the stars for me, but it's a good stay in general

Hostel is oké, beds are cheapish, breakfast is simple. No free parking, but parking next to the building is only 30 cent a hour, free at night. Shower takes ages before warm and there is no temperature regulation, only on or off.

This is a green hostel and hence doesnt allow the use of elevator. Which is good but the least you can provide is a waste basket in all rooms which was really an inconvenience. And you had a problem with a leaking pipes and we got muddy water from the taps . Instead of atleast providing clean water to drink you were reluctant to provide it when i asked in the kitchen. Only when i wouldn't leave you provided me with clean water which is the basic thing you have to provide . The wifi also stopped working on the last day . The breakfast you gave was reducing everyday.

Extremely basic, the rooms don't even have basic necessities like soap or bins. The food is of mixed quality. Some days the food is OK others it is very poor. I wouldn't recommend unless you have no other options.

The location of the hostel is convenient. Its located 10 by walk from the station and 10 minutes from the historical centre. There are multitude of day shops and one night shop in closest proximity , there is also a beautiful park right next to it ( de kruidtuin).The rooms have their own bathrooms and shower which is convenient. However the there are a few night trains riding literally a hundred meter from the building so your night comfort might be disturbed a couple of times but it's allright . Stuff is friendly and overall it's not bad for the money. I would recommend.

The worst place I’ve ever stayed! Unfriendly and unwelcome and extremely rude people! Definitely not a place I would ever recommend for other travelers. The lady named Mieke doesn’t respect your privacy and is very very rude- she wanted me to leave a day earlier- even though I paid in full! She has no interpersonal skills and make you feel most unwelcome! The rooms are disappointing and the breakfast okay. Not worth your money or time you can give this one a skip. Not recommended for any travelers!!

The woman behind the counter was sooo rude to poeple who had a cooking workshop there. She kept on making a scene and was verbally agrassive to those poeple. All the guests felt very offended by her behavior. Never again.
