We arrived on a rainy night unfortunately but check in was very easy and right at the front of entrance. Pool area is beautiful with lush palm trees and many various tropical plants. I love the plants here in Cairns! So tropical. The location of the resort is central and close to everything. Easy to walk around. The room was very plain in terms of decor and the air conditioning unit is so old, these should be updated especially for a city that stays warm and gets hotter in summer! Bed and pillows were firm and quite comfortable so I had a good sleep for the one night we stayed. Rooms aren’t soundproofed though so you’ll hear your neighbours talk outside and walk past quite a bit. Bathrooms weren’t as nice as I thought it would be as the photos make the bath look almost luxury but it was far from that. Lots of grime and bath not deep enough to have a relaxing time. I felt dirtier in the bath than I did out of it. This wasn’t a 5 star resort but even for a 3 star, it definitely needs upgrading in many areas of the rooms.

We checked into the hotel, room 226. Disappointed to say the least. The deadbolt on the door didn't work, neither did the refrigerator (it was warm inside). There were only 3 hangars in the closet and one was broken. The Courtyard was nice - even had a pool which we didn't use. Breakfast buffet was included with our room. The restaurant is Chinese fare which is fine but you should be aware. The food was average, the coffee was some of the worst I ever had - sorry guys, but you need better coffee. Maybe I should have had the tea? The hotel has a 'gym' but is truly dreadful in a basement - no very clean with poor equipment - not worth your while and not surprising nobody uses it. The second time we stayed at the hotel the room was much better. Maybe we had a bad room...

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst touring around Cairns, this is a great hotel, air conditioned rooms, and waiting area. Very friendly check in staff and the maid. The room was clean with a large enough bathroom, towels and facilities supplied. I think it was quite cheap accommodation considering the area it's set in, straight opposite the aquarium too but we didnt visit. The pool is a great little area, not busy when we stayed so spent a few hours out there before we got a transfer. Overall a great hotel

This place is old and run down. You have to be very careful not to step into the toilet as it is right up against the entry to the bath / shower, its that narrow i doubt its legal. They advertise premium TV channels, when i asked the reception, they advised that they hadn't had them for a few years, even though they are still advertised. The buffet breakfast was one of the worst i had seen. Very disappointing.Way better options if you are staying in Cairns. They say its 4 stars, but it would struggle to get a 2 star motel rating.

It's a surprise that this was awarded 4 stars, as the amenities and rooms were basic. However, the location is fantastic walking distance to everything. The Cairns aquarium is being constructed across the street, which will be a draw in the future. The hotel breakfast buffet is located inside the Chinese restaurant next door. The food doesn't change, so it got dull after a few days. However, it's still a great deal compared to the other expensive restaurants in town.

Great location, the grounds and exterior are lovely and over all it's clean and well kept. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms show signs of recent attempts of bringing up to date but lack character and warmth with bare hard tiled floors and a cold sterile feel. A few ornaments, coloured cushions and a nice warm rug on the floors would make the world of difference.

We stayed here for 8 days and I was very disappointed. The wifi does not work. Maybe 15 minutes here or there. When I went to the front desk about it they made some excuse but don't advertise wifi if it doesn't work. The rooms are small and dated. Asked for a king bed just got two singles pushed together. Line down the Center between the two. The spa is not heated. The gym can hardly be considered that. The Chinese restaurant attached is not ideal. Breakfasts were good but you had to pay extra for them. The tub in our room was so hard to get in and out of my mother could have seriously injured herself as well as the knob for the water kept falling off and bruised my toes. It is in a nice location. A block and a half to the water front. The aquarium being constructed is annoying now but in the future would be nice. They do get in and make the bed every day. AC also did not work. Mini fridge but no microwave if you are wanting to save money by having your own food. NO idea how they got a 4 star rating. MAYBE deserves a 3..maybe but we didn't really enjoy our stay here. Look elsewhere if you are wanting a nice place. OK place for one or 2 nights but no more.

The room was adequate. Bed was hard, the air conditioner was noisy and so was the fan. Curtains would have been nice across the windows. the bathroom was tiny and when you have a shower the water splashes all over the place. Thank you for fresh towels every day. the extra sink leaked on the shelf in the cupboard. Other than that it was just a place to put our heads at night time. Staff were helpful and we were close to everything only needed to go for a walk to get to most places.

Yelp
We booked our room at this hotel based on good reviews. The rooms were a good size and were clean. The hotel was really quiet! The wifi was very spotty. It worked best near the lobby. The pool was small but nice. Good price, only $70 for the one night that we stayed. This hotel is located close to the Esplanade so there is plenty to do within walking distance. The hotel is also only a 10 minute ride from the airport.

Yelp
I would not recommend staying here, unless you're ok with having bugs crawl all over your stuff and being called a liar when management is confronted about it. First of all, there are bugs. EVERYWHERE. When the front desk was confronted about this by us, their answer was to say, "Well this is a tropical area." And they gave us a can of bug spray so that we could spray ourselves. We sprayed and then asked someone to be sent up to spray properly. Apparently this request was either completely ignored or just done by the front desk person because they didn't bother to put any notes or tell management that we were having this issue. Finally on our 2nd to last day in Australia, I woke up and found a HUGE bug crawling on my phone, so we were fed up, we checked out of there and checked into the Double Tree right across the street. Oddly enough, they didn't have a bug problem. Since we ended up checking out a day early, we requested to have that night refunded, we had to go through Expedia to do this and that poor person had to deal with the management from the hotel. He was rude, dismissive and accused us of lying. He said there were no notes of us having any issues so if we chose to check out early that was our problem and he assumed we didn't need that money. It was only about $75, so that wasn't a huge deal, what was an issue for me is the huge lack of customer service in this place and their complete dismissal of any problems on their part. I regret giving them any of our money, especially after having bugs crawl all over the room and being called a liar about it. Unless you don't mind potentially having to deal with all of this I would say just stay at the DoubleTree right across the street.
