The physical location of the hotel is great for hanging out in Concord. Unfortunately, it seems as if loud motorcycles treat it as their own private raceway up and down, even when you are trying to sleep. The free breakfast seems to have suffered some since last year's visit, when we stayed at the same time of year, but was adequate for me, though not my wife. They did have a very neat egg cooking machine! My biggest complaint was frankly the friendliness and willingness to provide service of their front desk help. We had expressed a desire to get in early if we could as we were just coming over from Manchester to stay at the hotel. They informed us that our room was ready very early which was good news! That is, until we were informed that even though they told us the room was ready to be occupied, if we wanted to check in before 1:30, it was an extra $60! $60 for a room that they've already told you is ready and they have to do nothing special to let you check in 1-1/2 hours before their posted time, in what is perhaps the most expensive hotel in the city? The desk agent was unwavering and unwilling to do anything to help a repeat customer who needed to get in early. We ended up having to check our luggage with them, which cost them, and us, more time and effort versus just letting us check in early when the room was ready. I've never been to another hotel where they had you pay extra, after acknowledging the room was ready. In fact, I'm on my way now to Boston where the Renaissance Hotel, part of the Marriott chain, has let me know that my room is ready early and I can just bypass the desk all together if I desire. It's a shame because they have a great location, if not for the motorcycles. However, when in the hospitality industry, you should be willing to make exceptions. That will influence our choice next Memorial Day.
