This hotel is so cool and they are obsessed with the movie “Giant”. Also home to the most important food moment of Marfa - we buy these tourist nuts from the lady at the Hotel Paisano gift shop. I’ve since ordered pounds of them on the internet. They are the best nuts I’ve ever had.

Beautiful historic hotel from the 1930's. when buildings were not designed on low bid. We had a very comfortable mini suite with a patio overlooking the courtyard and fountain. they had live music that evening which ended at 8 so that the early to bed crowd would not be annoyed. My wife and I had dinner at the attached Jetts restaurant. Food and service were excellent, especially the manager George who greeted us at the door and checked up on us to make sure everything was first class

This hotel is steeped in classic architecture and historical flavor having accommodated the cast of the movie, “Giant”, starring Cary Grant, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean (just to name a few). The room we stayed in was once two rooms converted into a larger one with two comfy beds and two bathrooms (nice feature, although one bathroom had issues with commode flushing and the other with water temp in the shower…? Not sure how that happens, but taking into account the age of the property, it was a minor issue.) The onsite restaurant and bar offered lovely options for both food and beverage – that can be enjoyed in their quaint and charming courtyard near the fountain. The first night we were there, they featured live music in the courtyard and the weather was beautiful…so, it made for an exceptional evening experience. There is NO elevator (yet!…though you can tell they are installing one), so anyone with mobility issues (climbing stairs), or in a wheelchair could not stay here. Take into account, Marfa, Texas is a drive! It’s approximately 8 hours from DFW and I am unsure where the closest regional airport might be….so, you will have to put in some windshield time. But, once you are there….the world renown Chinati Art Exhibit is a must see!…and, totally unexpected in this tiny, west Texas town. I highly recommend you visit - at least once!

Very classic, quaint hotel. Excellent restaurant, beautiful pool, decor, and courtyard. Shops have great merchandise! The pictures from the movie “Giant” are amazing. Rooms are very comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the courtyard and had a little table and chairs to enjoy the weather!

They're a little pricier than what I normally aim for, but I must say I got my money's worth. One of the best decorated rooms I've stayed in, very cozy. The patio below connecting to lobby was beautiful.

It’s hard not to fall in love with this historic hotel that has been nicely renovated.|Our mini suite was nice. No flat surfaces in bathroom to put stuff but the kitchenette worked. The window unit stopped putting out heat but it was warm enough in the room. Loved the reading area with chairs and the bed was super comfortable. The elevator is under repair so they helped us get our stuff to the 2nd floor.|Suggest loading and unloading from the side versus main entrance, it’s a ways either way.

Great location for a night in Marfa. The room was fine, and we loved our patio/courtyard view—even though the fountain water was green. The pool could have used some cleaning, and it would’ve been nice if it were heated or if there was a hot tub. We also wanted to enjoy a drink in the courtyard, but the bar closed an hour earlier than advertised, which was disappointing.

Staying at Hotel Paisano was the last leg of our 7 day family road trip across NM. We were so excited to be staying somewhere with lore & extensive history. We got in around 6:30pm with an easy check-in. There was a stack of cookies available & unsure of how long they’d been there, I didn’t let my kids have any much to their dismay. The person helping us check in didn’t seem to know either. Our room was a historic 2-Queen with a balcony overlooking the main hotel dumpsters LOL!! Honestly, it wasn’t an issue at all considering we were there for the overall vibe & town. We had a 7pm dinner at Jett’s and loved every second of it. The maitre d was AMAZING! I unfortunately can’t recall his name, but he was a godsend. Having been on the road for 8hrs with 3 small kids, this man sensed their desire for destruction & saved the evening with a curated collection of coloring pages - not exaggerating. He had them organized in a small binder & told them he’d be grading the best colored picture at the end of dinner. He even sat my daughter first, asked her where she wanted to sit & addressed her as Miss, then placed her coloring pages in front of her. He did the same for the boys, addressed them as sir & treated them all like stars. I was so touched by his kindness & investment in making the little people feel seen & important. Dinner: superb! We ordered quite a bit - the wedge salad, queso fundió w/chorizo, pistachio jalapeño chicken fried steak, pot roast w/Brussels, Jett’s spicy margarita, espresso martini, kids burger, kids Mac & cheese & kids chicken. Can’t forget dessert! We ordered the lemon meringue pie, Oreo pie & chocolate cake. Worth noting - their lemonade isn’t from a fountain. I was pleasantly surprised! The checkout process was just as easy. The gift shop wasn’t open at the time of our departure (8am) but a gentleman behind the front desk offered to open it for us & my jaw almost hit the floor. Totally unexpected and 100% appreciated!! We got some shirts & hats for family & a few other things. I don’t believe it’s worth taking a star off of the rating but it is worth noting: the hours in which the elevator was being worked on. At our arrival time the elevator had a crew working on it. They didn’t stop until around 9:30pm. Guess when they went back to test it? 6:15-6:30am…..🥲

So I would love to give you all 5 stars: The staff was friendly through our stay, the room was quiet, comfortable and clean, and the pool was clean and obviously well-taken care of. However, I really couldn’t give 5 stars because of the gnats in the bathroom. I’m not sure where they were coming from, as the window was closed. Also, there were a couple live bugs on the a/c unit. Please get an exterminator involved if needed! Despite this one issue, we’d stay again. Hopefully the bug problem will have been taken care of by then.

Yelp
The hotel which opened in 1930 is an iconic piece of architecture in the Marfa landscape. Most known because when Giant was filmed in Marfa, it's where all of the cast and crew stayed. Liz Taylor, James, Dean, Rock Hudson, etc. The hotel still boasts furnishings from its earlier heyday. The Mission-style architecture is legendary in desert design. While it may seem parts of the hotel could use a little facelift, it holds an endearing quality of days gone by. The hotel has a museum of sorts, shop, and a restaurant. Lots of areas to relax especially the back garden with the eye-catching water feature.

Yelp
Historic hotel in the center of it all! Wander through and see the pictures from the movie, Giant. We Had drinks in the bar to watch the game , but the outdoor patio is adorable. There was also a TV in the bar area so we could catch the Red River Rivalry game. There is a sizable gift shop on the first floor filled with art gallery space and Knick knacks to buy.

Yelp
Nice old hotel with some old fashion amenities but worth the stay. Down in Marfa just for the night but already decided to come back for our anniversary next year

Yelp
Very vintage vibes! If you're into old Hollywood and the movie Giant, then def the place for you. I personally don't love an antique hotel, but if you do this is certainly the place for you. Inside was a bit dated, but again, got the description. Went to Jet's Grill both nights I stayed and the food was impressive! Loved the chicken fried steak.

Yelp
Imagine, the year,1956,the town Marfa Texas, the Hotel Paisano. The Filming of the movie Giant is scheduled to start filming soon. Then one by one, James Dean,Rock Hudson Elisabeth Taylor and others start checking into the beautiful Historic Hotel Paisano. What a time that must have been.

Yelp
AMAZING! Slice of history. Great service with just enough eccentricity. I loved the GOOD coffee in the lobby...the shops on the first floor. The central location. The charm. The "Old Money" feel. It is THE place for an old Texas, bougie experience. Guys: Do NOT bring your girlfriend here unless you want to get married. Also...AVOID the restaurant.

Yelp
Unless you live in Texas or have business at the border, you never will visit the town of Marfa or the Hotel Paisano. I spent 5 nights at Hotel Paisano. The nights were quiet, and dark. Each morning at 6 I went downstairs for a cup of coffee then drove for an hour during sunrise to Presidio. From there I was transported across the border to Ojinaga. Because of a confluence of circumstances, the entire week was a practice in mindfulness. The hotel is where the cast of the motion picture Giant stayed during filming in 1955. This is only a part of what makes it special. It won't try to describe the nuance and gravitas of Paisano, but it's worth mentioning that the mural-sized pictures of the cast and crew that are everywhere are magnetic; Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean and Rock Hudson. The photo of James Dean in the hotel bar could have been taken last week. Timeless. An amazing portrait of him having fun with Elizabeth Taylor, except there is no way to know Elizabeth Taylor is even in the picture unless one has studied the rest of the images around the hotel. It struck me. The picture was taken in July 1955. In September that same year - less than 90 days later, Dean was killed in a car crash in California. Be present. Fun fact... James Dean was a few months older than Elizabeth Taylor. They were contemporaries.

Yelp
Quaint, timeless design. Furniture is not in line with style of hotel. Too modern and honestly, too cheap for the space. Staff is excellent, super helpful and welcoming. The guys at the front desk are the best. The wifi was not working at all most of the time when we were there. It was a busy festival weekend, but it was very frustrating, since we were counting on it. Overall, a nice experience in west Texas, just not quite the accommodations we were expecting.

Cissie M.

Yelp
We have stayed at both Hotels in downtown Marfa and St George is good but the Paisano was kind of old and beautiful. Our room was large and had good linens and very clean. The bathrooms are small but very nice . We had an atrium room with a good screened in porch. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Super Amazing hotel. Love the restored features, ambience, etc. you have to put this one on your list folks. The pool was absolutely amazing, old school style with 9 ft depth at one end. We did wish the pool fountain was working though, that would've made it fantastic. We did have one negative experience but it was guest related and not anything to do with the hotel. At about 5 am, I woke to the sound of large dogs barking loudly from the hotel courtyard. It stopped after about a minute . Later as I exited the lobby carrying our belongings to the car, two large dogs lunged at me barking loudly. Very lucky the dogs were leashed. The barking was loud! This continued each and every time I passed and when others passed. It was 7:30 am!!!! Imagine people still asleep!!!! This woman sitting with the dogs cared not... as if we were bothering her dogs. Fantastic hotel though everyone! Please check it out! Hopefully dog lady stays somewhere else!

Yelp
After much anticipation and research of The Giant, we were so excited to arrive after a stop In Junction overnight on our way from Houston. I learned to slow down a bit and relax. We arrived for our reservations for two at the thanksgiving buffet at 12:30 on Thursday 2022. It was set up beautifully! Great staff at check-in to check-out. Rooms were clean with fresh towels and toiletries. The numerous gift shops are so cool and offer such a variety! I love the large photos of the filing of The Giant. So cool knowing James Dean was in room 223 and I am also here!

Yelp
Henry Charles Trost is my new obsession when it comes to old school hotel design. I'm normally not a spendy hotel guy, but it's worth it for the architecture. Having stayed last year at the sister hotel El Capitan in Van Horn I booked the Paisano for a west Texas excursion. Hotels are nearly identical; some of the spaces are used differently. Our room had a fire place on the patio versus a wall mounted fountain in VH. Paisano has a pool where the Capitan did not. Same small European style rooms; no key cards! Friendly staff at every post. Another claim to fame for the property is the stars of the movie Giant stayed there while filming in the area. James Dean, Rock Hudson, and Elizabeth Taylor have stayed in the hotel circa mid 1950s. Jett's Grill is named for Dean's character in fact. GF and I shared drinks and one dessert on our first night. Next morning we headed for Marfa Burrito with delicious success. Next morning wanting something quick we grabbed some breakfast tacos from Jett's right after it opened. No mincing words...terrible tacos!

Yelp
This beautifully maintained historic hotel is where you should hang your hat when you're in Marfa. Sure, there are lots of insta-famous spots and hip places around town, but this is the real thing. Google it. Stay here, and help support OLD Marfa, the way it was before we got here. You'll be glad you did- it's within walking distance of every restaurant and gallery you want to visit, and their pool is an oasis in this desert land. Never pass up the chance to stay in one of the old historic hotels in the Trans-Pecos.

Spencer M.

Yelp
The best place to stay in Marfa. The newer place down the street is nice BUT Paisano is where it is at. Tons of history with old world features that I adore and the grounds are just cool. My only complaint is the older hostess guy at Jet's. Our room was a garden room with a small sun room attached to give some bonus room. The trash truck pickup at 6:15am was not appreciated but props for doing that in such a small alley. Front desk staff was nice and the entire experience was just what we wanted. Cleaning staff were also wonderful. Thank you!

Yelp
Perfect location, super cute historic hotel. We found easy, free street parking and checked in quickly. All staff were wearing masks. The receptionist saw that it was our wedding anniversary and upgraded our room to a larger room with a private patio and fireplace which was very nice. We were on our 25 year wedding anniversary trip to the Big Bend area. The room and bed was comfortable. There was a mini fridge, coffee maker, full bathroom, and the typical room appointments. The alarm clock was from the 1980s and was making weird static noises so I ultimately unplugged it. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not healthy and when I turned it on, it made so much noise it sounded like it would break any moment. The shower was nice and the soap, shampoo and conditioner was nice. I loved the old school, historic vibe of the hotel. It was a lovely patio, lobby, and shopping area. The location is ideal with walking around the town. The restaurant we had dinner at was very good, Jett's Grill. We were seated on the patio, make reservations! We also got breakfast tacos (which ended up being a burrito) which was good and huge! We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Gah,this place is gorgeous. We didn't actually stay here (hotel prices were reasonable but rooms were booked) or eat here (reservations were full), but we just happened to stumble upon this historic building while walking around Marfa. The patio and the palm trees were the perfect backdrop. However, the menu did look quite tasty. We stopped at a few of the cute shops inside and walked around to look at the decor. Next time I'm in Marfa, I'll be back says Arnold. They boast the best margaritas in town! 2021 #24

Yelp
We arrived super late, at around 4AM on a Saturday. After an extremely hectic couple of days, we really just needed a bed and a shower. With everything I had been dealing with, I had completely forgotten anything I had previously learned about the hotel. So you can imagine my shock at how gorgeous and fascinating the hotel that I arrived at was. I really wish we could have spent more time visiting and exploring the place, but I can only comment on what I did experience. Joel, the gentleman who welcomed us, was extremely friendly and so kind to my Boxer who had not been getting much attention for the previous few days (his attention really made her day). I asked him about local breakfast joints and he told me his favorite was "Marfa Burrito." I was underwhelmed by the suggestion at first, but when we did end up going there I realized what a huge favor he had done by telling us about it (I have a seperate review on their page). I'm almost drooling recalling it now. Our room was right by the welcome desk, just up a few steps, and it was not a long walk at all to bring our luggage in. The room is very cute, though much smaller than I expected (I guess that's the thing with these historical buildings, they are very different from modern hotels in that way). There was some very cute stationary next to the coffee maker and related sundries. We had completely forgotten about the patio attached to the room, but we discovered it in the morning and it is really quite nice. Make sure not to forget it! The room was a little warm, again probably the age of the hotel, but we got good sleep and had no real issues. I don't know the next time I will be in Texas, but if I can swing a trip to Marfa, this is definitely where I will stay. Oh! And P.S. - the shampoo smelled SOOOO good. I wish I had had the time to ask if they sold it in their shop.

Karen K.

Yelp
Absolutely charming historic hotel! Our stay was too short. When we arrived a 3-piece band started their set in the lovely courtyard - an added treat! Bartender Rider, is a delight. I'm celiac and the staff and kitchen were knowledgeable and accommodating. Downsides: pricey, small (authentic original) bathrooms but very functional. Our room had a spacious outdoor balcony overlooking the courtyard. I hope to return.

Yelp
Great hotel! We enjoyed our stay. Staff was great! Very quiet and enjoyed chilling on the patio by the fountain.

Yelp
Rooms were super nice. Bathrooms need to be renovated. There kind of a hot mess. The bed was comfortable and the room cool. The guy at the front desk, Paul, was very rude and super angry. It was a very unpleasant way to be welcomed. When we checked out this morning, the man at the front desk was super friendly and helpful.

David G.

Yelp
Stayed two nights here and it is pretty hotel. We had spent the previous night in their sister hotel El Capitain in Van Horn also a beautiful hotel. our room was very spacious and clean. Bathroom was a little small but worked just fine. My only complaint is they do not have an elevator so if you are on the second floor you have to carry all your luggage up two flights of stairs with no help offered by the less than friendly front desk staff. The pictures everywhere of the filming of the movie Giant were really cool. Hotel is a bit pricey but worth a stay to experience it.

Todd M.

Yelp
Flag situation not good today. I've always enjoyed eating in patio with the flag's blowing in the wind. They've always been shiny and new. Not so for the last year. Please restore to prior glory!

Yelp
Horrible! March 18th, 2024. I took my parents and boyfriend for my parents anniversary to have dinner for our first time and let me tell you! We made dinner reservations for 4 @ 6:45 we did NOT get our food till 9:15pm, our steaks were charred and had absolutely no flavor, my dr.pepper was flat. The appetizer was burnt "artichoke hearts" hardly any hearts. The mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes were the only good thing on our plates. We tried to order dessert placed the order but yet again another 45 mins go by and still no dessert so we told Marc to cancel our desserts and to give us our checks. I'm certain the cook "bald gentlemen" was indeed intoxicated, kept going to the kitchen and then returning to the bar and having a seat then made his way back to the kitchen. I do not recommend this restaurant for food. Truly dissatisfied and very disappointed! They also only had one waiter poor lady she was very sweet, but they definitely need to hire more help and a new cook preferably one that knows how to cook.

Yelp
This place is a true throwback to the good times. Everything was kept to the tee! Service is a 5 star. Can't go wrong with humble and kind staff who feel like old friends. Room is a 5 star with the cleanliness, toiletries, fireplace on the patio and plushy bed. There isn't a phone in the rooms either. Learn to unplug. Food is delicious. The restaurant has a nice menu and variety of fancy and comfort. Remember to check when they are open because some places are only open on certain days (1 of 3 kind of fancier places in town) The town itself is so soo cool. Art and Instagrammable moments everywhere. The water tower, the old buildings, railroads, museums, the cactus, the old charm, newish and oldish hotels and local places around down. My favs is The Get Go grocery (1 of 2 only places in town) A must stay! Loved it here will be back.

Brent E.

Yelp
Bartender was extremely rude and unfriendly. After ignoring us so he could talk to other seated patrons, clean glasses and cut fruit, he finally approached us (the only people in line) . We asked for a drink shown right on the bar menu and he told "we're not serving that today." And that was that; end of conversation. We went to another restaurant down the street and they were extremely pleasant.

Yelp
This review is for the patio only as we did not stay at the hotel. The patio has a limited menu of cocktails, beer and snacks. We stumbled on it when we were walking around Marfa looking for the funkiness in the town. As we walked through people were friendly and there were plenty of dogs chilling with their owners so we went back for a quick drink and some chips before moving to camp at the Marfa Lights Visitor's Center. There is a lovely fountain and everyone has a laid back pace. This seems to be the hub of activity in town.

Yelp
(I sent the review below to the hotel's front desk hoping for a response, explanation, or an apology. I did not receive even the courtesy of a return note. I am sharing it here because I think how an establishment handles difficult situations speaks to how they also treat you when things are good. There remains no excuse for how we were treated, ignored, and embarrassed by the service after bringing our friends to Jett's on a trip from New Orleans. The situation described was in March. I will not return, and I have been going there a long time. - James Moore, Austin) I have been to the Paisano many times since the early 80s. My wife and I have celebrated anniversaries in the courtyard and spent long weekends there. We love the history and the architecture and always find the long trip from Austin to be worth our time. We have also enjoyed meals at Jett's, until last night. We had brought another couple with us, friends from New Orleans, who were excited about the history and our recommendations. Our reservations were for 7p, and we were promptly seated. After almost 90 minutes, we were informed that our burgers were going to be slow coming out because of a ventilation system. No one had bothered to tell us anything for that period of time. A manager also came out and apologized, but the lack of information was simply thoughtless on the part of your staff. Three of us ordered burgers and my wife was waiting on cheese enchiladas. When the burgers were served after two hours, my wife's plate was about ten minutes behind. The server had forgotten and had not placed her order. Her food was awful, in fact, embarrassing. It was clear it had been produced at the last minute, and someone laid two tortillas together, put hot sauce in the middle without cheese, and lightly sprinkled what cheese must have been available on top of the tortillas and poured weak sauce over the top. Her beans were tasteless and clearly came out of a ranch beans can, and the rice was also old and cold. Everything on her plate was served cold, and we should have sent it back. I realize there are challenges with staffing these days but there appeared to be plenty of waiters and others in the room. We felt sorry for our young waitress being caught in the midst of such incompetence, and tipped her more than 20 percent even though we had been waiting without information or food for two hours, and when it was finally served, the burgers were overcooked and dry and my wife's enchiladas were disgusting and cold and not even close to being enchiladas. Of course, we were charged full price for bad fare. You ought to be ashamed. If you can't meet basic standards, don't open your restaurant. I will never recommend the place again. Sadly, we are done with the Paisano as a consequence of inconsiderate service.

Yelp
Hotel is super, super cool. I was extremely pleased with their COVID-19 steps. They give you coffee supplies, as well as individual packaged items for your room. So far everyone has been wearing masks, which is nice. Hotel has a lot of charm. The old black and white photos all over of the old movie scenes filmed here is super neat. Elizabeth Taylor stayed here and that's kinda cool. Room is small but clean. Bathroom definitely needs help, but overall good experience. we stopped for one night on a road trip and there's a lot of character. We lucked out the restaurant downstairs is like the only restaurant open in town for dinner. Staff was extremely nice.

Yelp
Thouroughly enjoyed our stay at a hotel Paisano! We were traveling through and stayed one night on our way to Terlingua. Our room was comfortable and roomy - the beds were very nice and we slept well during our stay. Our room overlooked the main road, so we heard some 18 wheelers and the train go through in the middle of the night, but felt that added to the ambiance. The only negative was that the shower head just about sandblasted the dirt off of you, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Geeked out on the original fixtures in the bathrooms. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the absolutely loved the history behind the movie Giant as well as what transpired with the property in the following years. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
We needed a place to stay last minute and Hotel Paisano was one of the few places with a decently priced room. Originally we were going to stay in a normal room with a king bed, but they called us the day before and upgraded us to the rock Hudson suite with a bedroom, office, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and huge terrace. The suite was great, bed was comfortable and we loved eating dinner on the terrace! Overall the rooms felt a little dingy (actual vintage - not just the aesthetic haha), but they had great architectural features that were so cool. Hotel staff was very friendly -- the housekeeping staff especially. The hotel restaurant was only doing takeout because of covid, but it was very good! They have some nice little shops inside the hotel and great seating areas. The pool looked very nice but was WAY too cold to swim in especially since it was shaded. Which was disappointing in the summer. The hotel has an old Hollywood charm to it that I loved, but it definitely needs some updating. Besides the lobby, all the rooms and pool area felt rundown and not well taken care of. If the management would put more effort into some updates/repairs to the hotel and furnishing the rooms with era appropriate furniture that matched it would be SO NICE. Our room just felt like a bunch of furniture thrown together that they could find - which was disappointing for a suite. The place is very expensive for the area versus what you get/quality. I wouldn't mind staying here again, but may just stay at another equally priced hotel that's better maintained.

Yelp
We didn't stat here, but it's a very cool and historic hotel. Nice to visit. I didn't see a bar or restaurant , but if they have either I think it might be a nice place to chill for a bit. Interesting history here.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel that perfectly fits the magic feel and ambiance of being in Marfa, TX. Every time I am here it feels like I'm in the real Hotel California (the good parts, excluding the devil). I know there's really only a couple of valid hotel options in Marfa but this hotel would stand on its own even in a city with dozens of hospitality properties. That said, this is the one hotel of the two properties in town that captures the mystical feel of being in Marfa. That other hotel across the street is a weird sanitized experience that feels more like a corporate business stay than a unique experience. The Paisano meets the requirements of a competent hotel (friendly hotel staff, clean, quiet, great restaurant, reasonable prices) but it also captures your imagination with its historical atmosphere (it was part of an iconic movie) and its rustic, original look. When folks try to recreate the feel of the old west and modern rustic beauty, they are trying to capture the essence of the paisano.

Yelp
Really good breakfast burritos, but HORRIBLE bar service the night before. Literally sat at the bar for 15 minutes, had multiple staff and bartenders walk by and work in front of us and nobody took our order. Four other people at the bar and a mostly empty dining room. Two staff members were more concerned about what was on their phones. Left and went down the road for some drinks elsewhere. The lowlight of an otherwise great trip. Came back for breakfast just bc nothing else was open and it earned another star.

Yelp
When I planned my trip to Marfa, I wanted to stay at Hotel Paisano. However, due to the holidays and my tardiness in setting things up, all rooms were completely booked. That didn't stop me from checking out the hotel. Located in the heart of Marfa, Hotel Paisano has a decorated history and old school charm. The architecture of the hotel reminded me of something straight out of Casablanca. As you enter, there is a nice patio where the restaurant/bar is located. The interior is as impressive as the exterior and the hotel is famous for the movie Giant. Parts of the Western featuring James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor was filmed at the hotel. This is an elegant hotel and I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Marfa!

Yelp
The hotel is an official National Historical Site, built in the 1930's in classic western style and decorated with the film "Giant" memorabilia including iconic black and white images. classic We reserved the Elizabeth Taylor suite, a corner room with two small balconies, #21 however our room AC doesn't work. The half the room lamps won't turn on and the electrical outlet next to the bed had a metal prong stuck inside the opening. Otherwise, our suite was roomy, and comfortable. PRO TIP: If you want to sleep before midnight, ask for a room that DOES NOT overlook the hotel fountain because Jett's Grill serves drinks and dinner very late. The voices carry directly to the room.

Yelp
You could travel the world and not find a more charming destination! You not only get to stay in a slice of Americana but the staff is absolutely fantastic. From housekeeping to the front desk you just don't find such caring and friendly people. Heck most hotels can't find ANY people. The fact that the hotel is so deeply connected to the Academy Award winning film Giant is just an added bonus. To sit out in the courtyard with a glass of wine in Marfa weather is nothing less than enchanting. If you're lucky you'll get to stay in James Dean, Rock Hudson or Elizabeth Taylors room!

Yelp
Adorable and quaint. Friendly overall, the food is okay except the sopapillas. The sopapillas are so so good! Definitely recommend those. Our room was big and we had internet and cartoon channels on the TV.

Yelp
Great place great service and great drinks! The restaurant had a lot of character, there's a lovely shopping area there I loved it.

Yelp
Beautiful from the outside and a great photo op. Inside not so much, the bar and restaurant had no character and the outside patio was devoid of anything. The gift shops had no Giant memorabilia so I settled on some burro Christmas cards.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay and the staff was very accommodating. They were masked when engaged by customer; however, anytime I saw housekeeping or desk staff not interacting with a guest they we not following the posted mask requirement. This lack of concern during our 4 day stay, is the only reason I did not give them the highest rating possible.

Yelp
This elegant hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places and it deserves the honor. The Paisano opened in 1930 and achieved fame during the filming of the movie, 'Giant', in 1955. The entire cast stayed here. Fast forward to the 60s and 70s and the building fell into disrepair. Fortunately, it was restored starting in 2001 and, while the granny chic of the individual rooms and zillion pillows on the beds could use a contemporary rethink, the rest of the place probably looks as good as it did in the 1930s. If you're not in Marfa to see the art at the Chinati Foundation and you're not a rancher then you just might be here to sit in the lobby or outdoor courtyard with a good book and read the weekend away. The Paisano makes that a smart option.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel. It was late leaving Big Bend and we found this gem. I loved having real keys! My only complaint was their WiFi wasn't working when we paid $300 a night. I didn't have cell service inside the hotel either so I missed out on work emails/calls. The concierge said it happens a lot when she's on shift too.

Yelp
Great environment and great food. It was lunch time so not many people in the restaurant. The service was good.

Yelp
Older, historic hotel leaning into its history. Beautiful stay in Marfa with cozy rooms and lovely balcony!

Yelp
We had such a leisurely and lovely stay at the Hotel Paisano in Marfa, Texas. We really enjoyed early morning coffee and late afternoon drinks on their courtyard on the front of the hotel. The staff in the hotel were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pictures of James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor all over the hotel, from their time spent there while filming Giant the movie. Our room was very spacious, more like a suite. Our room also had a nice enclosed patio. The restaurant in the hotel served very good food at lunch and dinner. They also had great breakfast tacos and coffee. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Paisano if you are planning a trip to a Marfa, Texas.

Yelp
Only stayed for a night but thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a truly beautiful building! All of the amenities were wonderful, and the shopping area and happy hour specials were above and beyond! $6 margs (with flavor options!) and outstanding soup and salad. Say hello to James Dean while you're there; I felt his presence big time in our room that was his when he stayed there!

Yelp
Second visit here. First time actually staying in the hotel. It's been wonderful. We are hauling a trailer and the staff was great about parking. The atmosphere is so great for this historic movie city. Love the breakfast burritos in the morning!! We are staying in an incredible suite and are in movie heaven. The bathroom towels are SUPER SOFT! The room we are in has a fully stocked kitchen. So nice since we are traveling and bringing our food. We did stop by the hotel bar for drinks and sat outside the fire place for a nice evening. I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
This was a great place to stay. We only stayed one night but the staff was great, room was very clean and tidy. We had a burrito at Jets Grill the next morning which was delicious.
