My boyfriend and I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. We just recently enjoyed our second stay at Hotel Saugatuck. We fell in love with the quaint cottages and great service. Breakfast was amazing and different each day, with a dessert surprise in the evening. All the little touches make a huge difference and we enjoyed every bit of it. 10/10 would recommend. Super quiet and peaceful. Incredibly close to downtown and the water. Perfect location. Our new favorite west side getaway. Looking forward to our next one.

We stayed at hotel Saugatuck for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The room was nice, clean and cozy. Very comfortable bed and the jacuzzi tub was a great way to relax after exploring town! Breakfast was pretty good, but as others have mentioned, it could be better for the price. Complimentary cookies and drinks in the lobby was a nice touch. We did stay a year ago for our honeymoon, and I have to say the owners back then (the married couple) were a lot more welcoming and conversational. My only other complaint would be the extremely loud landscaping at 8 am on our final morning. For $400+ a night, you expect to not be woken up to lawn mowers and leaf blowers. The one landscaping guy was literally right outside our window blowing leaves. That was a little disappointing and definitely impacted the relaxing vibe. Otherwise, we had a nice stay and appreciate the cleaning lady who refreshed our room and brought us extra condiments upon request!

What a lovely experience! The cabin was charming as it featured a gas fireplace that was visible from most of the room. The space was spotlessly clean. We loved the dessert that was delivered each night as well as the breakfast in the morning. It was perfectly located so we were able to walk everywhere in town. Thank you to all the staff for helping to make our stay lovely.

This was our first time staying at the Hotel Saugatuck and we will definitely return. Came for an anniversary getaway and were Very happy with both the staff and the accommodations. Room and grounds were lovely and our breakfast was delivered timely every morning. I understand why the hotel Saugatuck has received so many great reviews, We’re looking forward to coming back!

Google
The Hotel Saugatuck is the perfect place if you are looking for somewhere close to downtown to relax! The room was so clean, the breakfast and dessert were yummy, and I was thrilled with how kind all the workers were. Everyone I showed pictures to of my stay was jealous! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing hotel to unwind!

Our room was cleaned up in the morning, but the person that cleaned it left the fireplace on. We returned to a very hot room that was 99 degrees F. It eventually decreased to 86 degrees as you see here, and then went back up to 87 degrees not long after. We explained the situation to the hotel staff initially, and mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary that night as well. However, their response was that “we can’t do anything about it except switching the system to “cool”. I went to the room to see what “cool” is and it’s a single fan moving at high. None of the vents in the room produced any air whatsoever. In addition, we waited 4 hours for the room to cool down with their “ac” fan system, and the lowest the temperature got to was 86 degrees (per the picture below). Lastly, the manager admitted that the fireplace was off when she arrived to clean our room. In other words, the manager accidentally or intentionally turned on the fireplace. We didn’t return to the room until 8:30PM, which was after the manager cleaned our room. We had an officer come to speak to the manager. The officer explained to us that the manager refused to give him any information; including the name of the owner of the establishment.

Had a wonderful time ! The Hotel Saugatuck was great and convenient. We enjoyed the walk to the downtown area. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the evening desserts and the breakfasts. Back garden area was nice too.

Looking for luxury? Look elsewhere! Came here for a get-away with my husband and our stay was just ok. First things first - this is NOT a luxury stay as advertised. The hotel itself is nice but luxurious? we thought not. For $600 a night, we expected a nicer room with higher end finishes. We had cob webs in our room on 2 lamps, dirty windows, cords hanging out from the tv and worn out furniture in our room. The front desk lady was pleasant but did not go out of her way to make us feel welcome. (we just drove 4 hrs to get there) The included breakfasts were nothing special that I couldn’t make myself at home. All lacked flavor across the board and the coffee was very weak and tasted watered down to us. You’d expect amazing coffee at a B&B?!? It is located 1 mile on foot round trip from downtown area so be prepared to walk. Not worth $600/night in our opinion. Would not return.

Iris J.

Yelp
Beautiful B&B in Saugatuck, MI! We had a great stay, walking distance to downtown shops/dining and the pier for several of the sailing excursions on Lake Michigan. Very accommodating of allergies/dietary restrictions. Breakfast and dessert delivered to your room and all were excellent. Hotel was quiet and rooms were clean and well appointed. Staff was friendly and very helpful!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed in one of the cottages for 4 nights. We love Saugatuck. The room is fairly small. I don't know the exact dimensions. But, my estimate is 8-9 feet X around 11 feet. There is no door that separates parts of the bathroom from the bedroom. We had a sliding door for the toilet that only closed half-way. The chest for your clothes is tiny, approximately 12-18 inches wide and about 4 feet high. The is no closet, just a small rack with hangers. These amenities mean you really don't want to stay longer than 2 nights, maybe 3 max. The pluses: The room has a nice double-sided fireplace, jacuzzi tub and a shower, plus a tiny sink area. There are 2 chairs and a nice tv that gets Netflix attached to the wall The manager is very friendly in case you have any issues. I've stayed at worse. But, also many a lot better.

Yelp
My Girlfriend and I both stayed at the Hotel Saugatuck, when I say it was the best hotel we have ever stayed at it was! The service was amazing, they had complementary Breakfast and Dessert which was brought to the room. It was very high class treatment with modern rooms. The room was extremely clean. It had everything you needed in the room. They had a diverse breakfast option which you can choose from. The food was amazing! When we got the food it was hot and tasty! The dessert was a little sweet treat for the night! The location was not far only 0.5 miles from the hotel, it was a great walk! You could see all the beautiful houses and the river. I truly recommend staying here if you want to see Saugatuck in all it's beauty!

Yelp
Celebrating our 17 year anniversary, my wife and I stayed here in the lakeview room. I also elected to have the romance package which scored me some serious brownie points. The room was spacious and had everything we needed for an evening away from the kids. Jacuzzi? Check! Fireplace? Check! The staff was pleasant and accommodating. We really appreciated having board games and cards available to borrow. The breakfast was pretty awesome and arrived right on time. The staff was always kind enough to give us privacy, leaving breakfast and other deliveries outside of the door. Our only regret was that the lakeview room is directly adjacent to the lobby. Had we known this, we may have choosen a different room. Overall it didn't negatively impact our experience

Yelp
Very pristine property, very modern compared to most bed and breakfast places, with a top-notch staff, and nicely appointed rooms. However, although the breakfasts that they served were very dramatic, they weren't really breakfast foods. In the morning, I usually prefer something like an omelette, eggs fruit, toast pancakes something else besides what was served. But the presentation of the food was beautiful, even if it seemed a little early in the day to be eating stuff like that. My only other criticism is that the doors are extremely heavy and they are hard to get in and out of, unless you are Sylvester Stallone. Beautiful backyard terrace, and not too far from the downtown activities.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Pretty good! Good food, comfy bed, clean, prompt and pleasant service. I would have appreciated higher quality toilet paper and tissues. The shower is a rain shower so it was hard to rinse off when I wasn't washing my hair. This isn't a big deal but it would have felt cozier to see some local art on the walls since it's a really artsy community - the vibe was fine just flat.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place. My husband and I needed a restful getaway for a few days and this place was amazingly peaceful. The staff work quietly behind the scenes and do not disturb, and we hardly saw any other guests even though it was almost fully booked. It's classy and feels fresh, with thoughtful details. They also have streamlined everything from ordering breakfast to checking out, so that it's very convenient and doesn't waste your time. Amazingly comfortable bedding, and everything was very clean. The breakfasts were delicious and such a luxurious treat to have them delivered to the room. We were also impressed by all the little things that were complimentary; they don't "nickel and dime" you. Your room fee covers the little extras (like glass water bottles to take home), which adds to the feel of generous hospitality.

Yelp
Best customer service ever! Phenomenal. They went above and beyond for my dietary preferences and I couldn't be more grateful. Such a great place. Breakfast AND dessert each day. Wowsa!

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Saugatuck. The staff were super friendly and also gave us space to do our own thing. Breakfast and dessert are delivered right to your day every day. Close to downtown but far enough away from the crowds. The price is totally fair when you add in the food and quality of the rooms. Great place for a couples getaway!

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a three night stay at The Hotel Saugatuck for my birthday, and I am so happy he picked this beautiful location. The property is charming, with landscaping that is thoughtfully done, and rooms that are updated and elegant. Breakfast was provided each morning and delivered to our room, as was a nightly dessert. Fresh towels could also be delivered if needed. The outdoor seating was comfortable and we took advantage of the peaceful atmosphere to just rest and relax. Our outdoor cabin unit had a king sized bed, waterfall shower, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee pods, and some kitchen necessities. It was quiet even with the hotel being booked during our stay. The main building had an ice machine, beverages for purchase, and some books and games to borrow. We were minutes from the shops and restaurants downtown, which we enjoyed each night. Oval beach is close as well, and was a wonderful spot for a relaxing day soaking up the sun. What really made the stay incredible was the thoughtful staff. They were always available if we needed anything, were friendly and welcoming, and were open to giving recommendations when asked. They even left me a slice of birthday cake on my birthday! We can't wait to come and stay here again soon!

Yelp
We have stayed at Hotel Saugatuck several times and are so glad it is always as nice as the last time. The dessert and breakfast we just loved!!! The management are super helpful and are available for your every need. Highly recommend!

Tess A.

Yelp
We loved our weekend here! Staff was so accommodating without being overbearing. We had yummy breakfasts delivered to the room at a time of our choice. The room was cool and clean. Close to all of saugy! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Yes! Another 5 star review for the Hotel Saugatuck, because they absolutely deserve it! The Hotel Saugatuck is a bed and breakfast, but perhaps, not in the most traditional sense. Instead of the communal breakfast table and grandmother's bed linens images that the mention of a B&B might conjure, the Hotel Saugatuck offers the ultimate private, romantic getaway, and a perfect introduction to the B&B lifestyle for newbies like me. We stayed in the Douglas cottage, a duplex detached from the main house. The newly renovated property still smells new, and the decor is chic with the most modern amenities. The bed was absolute heaven!! I will be calling to learn the brands of both the bed and sheets! Dessert is delivered nightly, and you schedule breakfast delivery to your room at checkin. Overall, a super luxurious experience, and I cannot wait to tell friends and return myself! Finally, take your time when booking and explore the website, which offers virtual tours of all the rooms. A full night's deposit is due at booking, so do not be caught off guard.

Yelp
Booked for my husband and I's first trip away from baby and it was a wonderful stay! We loved riding the bikes down town to explore! Food to the room was a nice little treat, the fireplace was hot and it was nice to be able to actually open the windows for some fresh air. Shower and tub clean/easy to use. Would recommend to others and we would def. stay here again! We came to town during off season so a bunch of stuff was not open but we still had the best time!

Yelp
This place is magical! The best romantic get away spot. It is private, cozy, clean, and completely updated. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the grounds were gorgeous. We had a late check in, but upon entering our room our dessert was waiting. Breakfast was prompt at the time we requested, and oh so delicious! Beautiful view of Lake Kalamazoo across the way, and a small pond on the grounds where you can watch the wildlife scurry about.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
The Lakeshore room view is not quite as accurate as advertised on website. Your lake view is covered by construction and a Port-a-potty. The room is spacious, clean and the tub is very nice. The breakfast and dessert are a highlight. We did encounter very loud banging from the room above simply walking which impacted our nights sleep. The walls are thin and walking around above us was incredibly disruptive, not quite the quiet lakeside view babymoon we hoped for. We had a nice visit however, the accommodations for the price per night were a bit overrated.

Yelp
We had a great stay at Hotel Saugatuck. The room was spotless clean. The breakfast & nightly dessert sent to our rooms every day was always delicious as well. Service from the employees was always quick and friendly. Location of the hotel was close to everything. Just a couple minute drive into both downtown Saugatuck & Douglass. Took less than 10 min to drive to the beach. Only things worth noting is that there is construction across the street so it doesn't have a lake view unless you walk across. Wasn't a huge deal, but wasn't expecting that. They also only had two bikes that were working which given the size of hotel isn't many. We didn't run into any issues not being able to use them though. All in all, would highly recommend for a romantic getaway.

Yelp
We stayed here for three nights in February. First time we visitedv. We loved this place. Stayed in the Harbor Room. So comfortable, and very quiet. We wanted and quick getaway from busy life, and this place did not disappoint. Breakfast delivered to our room every morning at 9AM...was delicious! Then a surprise dessert every night. We will be back again! Maybe when there is warmer we.

Yelp
My husband and I booked the Clipson Room for our anniversary. We were both completely blown away with our experience here. We walked in to an extremely clean room with the sweetest card greeting us. They had set up champagne on ice, chocolate covered strawberries, a plate with desserts, and a basket with free snacks for us. It was just perfect. The fireplace turned on with just the flip of a switch and added the perfect ambiance to our romantic night. We used the jet tub, and it looked and smelt very clean as well, even when the jets were running, which was comforting when you are using a hotel tub! My husband used the shower which had multiple shower heads, and he said was one of the highlights of our trip. The toilet room has a door that you can close off without closing off the sink and vanity, which was also handy. The linens were amazing as well. The owners were readily available by text and were very prompt in responding to our questions. In the morning, breakfast was provided to our room at no additional cost, and it was delicious as well. They had a variety of choices of hot and cold beverages and 3 choices for meals. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a romantic getaway or just a very positive experience. We have decided we will have to go back at some point.

Christine V.

Yelp
Wow! Booked a couple of nights to get-away for my 50th birthday and was not disappointed! Spectacular room with everything that my husband and I needed to, not only be comfortable, but to stay in if we chose. A perfect location right in the heart of everything that Saugatuck has to offer. Josh and Amy were very accommodating and friendly! We could not ask for better host and hostess! The desserts and breakfasts delivered right to our door very evening and morning were 5-star. This place covered every little detail and then some. We will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
Spent our anniversary here this year. There is a main building with seperate cottages set up like duplexes across the parking lot. While all the advertising we had seen before booking make it seem as if this place is on the Lake, it's not, and few rooms actually have a view. The room we stayed in was updated and nice, although the only window we had looked out onto an unsightly brush pile so we kept the blinds drawn nearly the entire trip. I love natural light so that was a major disappointment. The bed was comfortable and the fireplace was a nice touch. I have to admit the bathtub was my favorite feature in the entire room! Lots of jets and color changing lights to help create unique bathing experience. I know this establishment is for adults only, and most presumably couples, but privacy while showering is still appreciated by most. The tub and shower are left in open view with the toilet being the only thing behind a closable door. (Ours was the type that slides into the wall and was difficult to pull out.) The shower POURS water out all over the floor each time it is used, which was irritating as well as dangerous. The worst part about the bathroom configuration besides the inability to practice any modesty is the lighting situation. If you need to use the toilet in the middle of the night, you have to turn the light on that illuminates the entire half of the room, disturbing your partner. The toilet room does not have its own switch. I ended up using a flashlight I had found under the sink by the microwave so that my husband could sleep undisturbed. Not exactly something I expected from a $400+ per night room. Oh! And the TOILET PAPER! When I spend this kind of money on a room I expect decent quality toilet paper, not cheap, rough stuff that causes pain on delicate areas. The tissues were softer than what came off the roll. Breakfast is brought to your room each morning, which is nice, as well as a dessert each night. The breakfasts are decent, but nothing I'd write home about, and the desserts were, in my opinion, nothing more than a nice gesture. They didn't taste very good, but maybe it was just the particular desserts we got. This hotel is very quiet. We only heard our neighbors a few times and it was nothing obnoxious. Again, we stayed in a private cottage, so I cannot attest to the actual Inn noise level. This hotel is also close to the town area, but not walkable if you suffer from knee pain. We did happen to find one Uber and later a taxi company, so that was nice. As I mentioned, we stayed here for our anniversary, and maybe we are just used to Chicago and other big cities going the extra mile to help make such an occasion even more special, but if that's something you're accustomed to, don't expect it here. They even leave an envelope in your room asking for a tip for your attendant. Kinda tacky, if you ask me. While there was nothing horrible about our stay, talking with locals helped us realize that if we visit Saugatuck again, there are far better places to stay that give us more for our money, and that's what we will most likely do. Really wish I could honestly leave a 5 star review like everyone else...but then it wouldn't be honest.

Yelp
This is our second time staying at Hotel Saugatuck. It lives up to the idea of a luxury B&B. We've stayed in Oval Beach and Sandpiper, both of which have four-season rooms with a fireplace. We love sitting there, enjoying cocktails. The owners are a cute, young couple who are so accommodating and proud to own and keep the property. The breakfast is delivered to your room and everything we've had has been very tasty. It's a simple walk into town. The perfect place for a romantic get-away.

Yelp
Very, very pleased! My wife and I decided to spend an extra night in the Saugatuck area after visiting friends. We are so glad we made this decision at the last minute. Everything at The Hotel Saugatuck was perfect. Excellent management and everything is new. The rooms are super clean, and the amenities from plush towels and toiletries are top notch. We have not had breakfast yet but are looking forward to the experience. We have been at other BnB and Hotels in the Saugatuck area. If you like antiques, dark rooms and dust, great ... stay there. If you want something modern with excellent room lighting, very comfortable AC and heat, great water pressure and water temperature DEFINITELY stay at The Hotel Saugatuck. We hope to return in the near future. Northwest Chicago retirees.

Karissa R.

Yelp
Very charming B&B. We stayed here after a wedding nearby and would love to go back. We stayed in the main house and as another reviewer mentioned, we could hear walking above us but it wasn't particularly bothersome. We thought the breakfast was delicious and really enjoyed the desert each night as well. The staff was very warm and helpful. It is a bit pricey but I do believe we got what we paid for!

Brenda M.

Yelp
The owners are wonderful. We stayed in the Singapore room. The tub was so relaxing and the fireplace was cozy. Room was exceptionally clean. The breakfast and dessert at night was some of the best food I've ever had.

Andi L.

Yelp
my fiancé and I have stayed here four times. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The only issue we had this time was the food. The first two times that we stayed here the food was top-notch. The desserts were fresh. The breakfast was fairly large, very fresh and ripe fruit. The last time we stayed we noticed that the food went downhill just a little bit. that was summer 2022. This time, the food went way downhill. We were very disappointed! the portions were super small. the first morning breakfast was cold and seemed like it had been sitting there for a while. The desserts seemed store-bought instead of made here like they were before. The fruit was not ripe. it was simply just not good! The coffee they serve is good and was the same coffee that we've had the past four times but in all honesty, it was quite disappointing, because we really look forward to the breakfast and the desert. We may rethink where we stay in saugatuck next time.

Yelp
My wife and I came here for our 1 year anniversary. I learned about the city and hotel in a magazine article for road trips away from Chicago. It's a beautiful cozy hotel which has an amazing view of the lake. The staff here are very friendly and courteous. I usually don't get enough sleep and most hotels when I travel which is why I don't check-in but I never slept better at this place. Would I recommend this hotel to anyone else? You betcha!!

Yelp
Incredible Saugatuck getaway! Originally we were going to stay here during the Memorial Day weekend but plans changed and we went up in the second weekend of April. We had spectacular Spring weather with lots of sunshine! We stayed in the Oval Beach room which had a slight but nice view of the water. We chose delicious blueberry pancakes with apple chicken sausage for breakfast that was delivered promptly. Thankfully the inn is clean as well as the room. Very comfortable bed, relaxing jacuzzi tub & nice fireplace! If you are looking to relax and reconnect with your lover this is the place to stay. Be sure to bring your own wine or whatever you prefer to drink and sit out on the enclosed patio!

Yelp
Beyond pleased!!! What a great getaway. My husband and I were looking for a quaint, quiet early winter spot and the Hotel Saugatuck sure did deliver. From the early communication with the staff to the surprise late night treat. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone looking to relax and have a fantastic experience. The Hotel Saugatuck goes the extra mile from cookies at the front desk to free card/board games for the guests, amenities galore!! Bravo Hotel Saugatuck, we can't wait to come back!!!!!
google avatar

Andrew N.

Yelp
Wow, just wow! I signed up for Yelp because this place is so amazing that i had to gush. From the fantastic design and finishings, to the small touches like treats in the rooms, this is a truely romantic gateway. And the food they have here, OMG! They made an omlet so good and fluffy that places like Dennys and IHOP should send their cooks here to learn how to make them the best! One night, they had personal chocolate fondue as a dessert! Plus, Saugatuck and Douglass, both easily walking distance, are such gorgeous towns and so much fun. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We have set up a standing reservation to return here regularly!

Yelp
The old Twin Gables Inn she ain't what she used to be. She is WAY BETTER, now that the property has been COMPLETELY renovated and renamed The Hotel Saugatuck. The tag line says "Luxury Bed and Breakfast" -- and it is. This place will appeal both to B&B fans and to those who prefer hotels. My husband and I stayed there only a couple weeks after they opened. We thought we'd delayed our annual fall color trip too long, but we hit it just at the peak. Some of the 18 rooms didn't have names on their doors yet, which I took to mean that they're not open yet. But I peeked into several rooms besides the one we were staying in, called Twin Gables, and they are all gorgeous. From the colors and fabrics, it looks like a first-class decorator has been hard at work. Each room has a king bed, a fireplace, a jetted two-person tub and a separate shower. Our shower was tall and huge -- could have accommodated a string quartet -- with a rain shower head and two jets that come out of the wall. Flat screen TV and very fast Wifi. Breakfast, which was very good, is room-delivered, so you needn't get out of your robes. We stayed in the main building. It's so solid-feeling that it's impossible to believe it dates to 1865. Windows, siding, lighting, heating and air conditioning, and all interior and exterior surfaces are completely new. The first floor has a small common area, but nothing large enough for an event. This is more of a romantic couples getaway. There are also three duplex bungalows with front porches and Adirondack chairs, all the better to look at the western sky and lake across the street. Not Lake Michigan, the inland lake adjacent to the streets of downtown Saugatuck. I was told that the bungalows once were humble rental cottages. They look brand new, each in a coordinated decorator color with white trim. There's still evidence that the place just opened and is still being worked on: A dumpster on the property, a closet without a door, small stuff. Nothing that should keep anybody away. I'll bet a lot of people are like us -- wondered if the old Twin Gables Inn could ever be rescued and worried about it decaying there, an eyesore, at the entrance to town. This is a very happy place now, with a new name and innkeepers who seem very engaged. Can't wait to return.

Mike W.

Yelp
The perfect place to stay in magical Saugatuck. Joshua and Amy go out of their way to make you feel at home. From the hand delivered note and cookie dessert to the manicured garden with sunny seating and firepit by night. Bikes available and great location to town. Very clean, spa like shower and bath. Comfortable bed and great views. They've thought of everything.

Lynn R.

Yelp
Great place! Staff work so hard. Delicious breakfast delivered to your room each day. Nice easy walk to downtown and the shops.

Tony V.

Yelp
Tried to cancel a reservation due to a serious medical condition that hospitalized my wife unexpectedly. No leniency at all from the owner in regard to a refund and in fact he was quite rude.

Marc F.

Yelp
Beautiful room. Feels clean and new. Tasty breakfast and dessert brought to you daily. Nice walk into town. Would Definitely recommend!

Karen N.

Yelp
My husband and I just had the most magnificent stay at the Hotel Saugatuck! Beautiful rooms, chill zones and porches! Staff was unbelievable! Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Looking for a quiet, romantic weekend away and that is exactly what we got. Our room was in the main building, directly across the cottages which were on the other side of the parking lot. Property is perfectly maintained, rooms are clean, comfortable and cozy. Breakfast and evening desserts were delicious. Staff was friendly and unobtrusive. Easy 3/4 mile walk into town. Would definitely stay here again.

Astrid H.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Saugatuck! The property is beautiful with newly renovated and luxurious rooms. Complementary water and snacks, and access to bikes made the stay even more enjoyable. A delicious breakfast was delivered to the room every morning. The staff is attentive, polite and helpful! We highly recommend this hotel:-)

Jenn W.

Yelp
Literally as good as it gets. Every couple should stay here. It's beautiful. It's clean. The staff is incredible. The food is delicious. We escaped here last summer for a weekend trip and I still dream of how wonderful this weekend was. We love this town and we love Hotel Saugatuck. If i could rate it 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat.
