The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu (Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In a city as hallowed with history as Kyoto, refurbishing is an art unto itself. Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu wears its provenance proudly, retaining the 1930s brick-and-arch facade of its former life as an elementary school. Clean minimalism and rich tradition blend well in its public spaces, natural complements for contemplative tours of the shrines, pagodas, and temples within walking distance. Upstairs, guestrooms unleash a bit more luxury — spacious, gently curvilinear, in eggshell and cream tones, and of course fully equipped with knockout city vistas. Even farther up, the rooftop bar is an object lesson in decompression when the sun gets low and the lanterns start to glow." - Tablet Hotels

A Review of The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu in Kyoto

"Perched midway up the hillside toward a UNESCO temple in the heart of Higashiyama, this 48-room heritage hideaway—originally built as an elementary school in 1933—feels like a serene oasis despite being steps from tourist-clogged stone streets. Architectural nods to its school past (tiled staircases, wood beams, classical windows and an auditorium conversion) blend with pared-back modern luxury: airy rooms in muted hues, complimentary minibars, exceptionally comfortable beds, and spa-like bathrooms outfitted with heated bidet toilets and Natura Bissé products. Some accommodations offer leafy terraces with sweeping views of the city and the nearby pagoda; the Panoramic Suite adds a large private balcony. A mammoth bathing area with a deep soaking tub, rain shower and frosted windows, three private baths (reservations required) with soaring ceilings and amber lighting, a well-equipped gym, and a light-filled guest lounge with snacks and drinks complete the wellness offerings. The property radiates warm omotenashi-style hospitality, hosts maiko performances in the lounge on Thursday evenings, and is widely praised as a stylish, tranquil retreat in one of Japan’s most visited neighborhoods."

🌟Treasure Hotel🌟🥂Qinglong Hotel can be said to be the biggest surprise of our trip to Kyoto! ✨🏫Location: In the Kiyomizu Temple Scenic Area, you can walk to Kiyomizu Temple in 6 minutes, and Nisanzaka is right outside the door. The location is quiet and quiet. In the evening, you can go to the K36 bar terrace upstairs to see the panoramic view of the Kyoto sunset.⛰️Environment: The hotel was renovated from a primary school. It has 4 floors and not many rooms. It is very suitable for vacation.🧸Room: The room is very big, mini bar is available for free, the bathroom space is very reasonably designed, the bedding is very good, and the quilt is very comfortable🥂Service: The service staff is very attentive and patient. After check-in, a dedicated person will show you to the room, introduce the various facilities of the hotel, help make reservations for the terrace bar, call a taxi, etc. They are very enthusiastic.

Because of the epidemic, I chose this place for my first trip abroad with my baby. It turned out to be the right choice. The service is very good. Except for the fact that children cannot eat in the restaurant or enter the lounge, everything else is very convenient. Breakfast is served in the room instead. Used, but it did not explain that the children's breakfast was only milk and bread and not a normal set meal. When I checked, I chose one more and was charged for one breakfast. Later, I colluded with Ctrip and Ctrip borne it. I went to the library the next day. The dining manager of the restaurant was also very kind and took the initiative to let our family dine in. The quality of the food in the restaurant will be much better. Those who were in the room on the first day were not full (the quality needs to be improved). The tower view room was also very nice, and it was given as a gift. Many children's supplies and the gym are not far from the room, which is quite big in Japan. The ham in the executive lounge is delicious. When you go out of the hotel, turn left and walk for a while to Kiyomizudera Temple. Seeing the traffic jam and the crowds, we still took it easy and made a reservation for our stay. I experienced a private soup and needed to make a reservation in advance. But it rained heavily on the day of check-out and the temperature was very low. The check-in time for the next hotel was at 4 pm. We communicated with the hotel and asked for a late check-out but they didn’t agree. We had to go to Takashimaya to hang out.

Stayed this hotel for anniversary trip and spent memorable moments at the hotel! Room, restaurant, rooftop, and private spa were all great. Uniqueness came from the building structure which was remodeled from school building. They used to offer“painting package” which allows guests to sit and sketch the scenery at anywhere in the hotel as we were like students! (I really wanted to try it! Maybe next time!) Hotel staff is also friendly and well caring with welcoming vibes!

Compared to Japanese hotels, the room is large enough and very private. It was evening when we arrived on the first day, so we went to the hotel's outdoor restaurant to have dinner. I won't describe how delicious it was.The hotel's breakfast is a set menu, not a buffet. The service is quite attentive. In fact, you can tell just by looking at the pictures, it looks good, tastes good and is filling. If you have a choice, I recommend choosing a room on the second or third floor so the view will be better. If you want to travel, turn left after leaving the hotel and walk a short distance up a hill to reach Kiyomizudera Temple. This is probably because there are many tourists on Christmas and New Year's Day, and there are temples and attractions around, so it is very convenient.

Amazing place, just beside one of the most beautiful temples in Kyoto, very well located and the view of the pagoda is amazing. There is also a lounge and a rooftop and restaurant. The staff were very nice they even explained to me how to prepare a very nice matcha!

The room is very unique and very close to the scenic spot. You can go to Kiyomizudera Temple early in the morning. It is especially recommended by Dawa. The hotel toiletries are also attentive. The Nature Bisse is very good. The minibar is also free. Afternoon tea is also very Kyoto, with matcha 🍵 and Japanese snacks. We arrived just in time for afternoon tea, and the scenery was beautiful, especially the bar. Unfortunately, we couldn't go in with children, so we could only take pictures at the door.

This time I came to Kyoto relatively temporarily. It happened to be the Japanese New Year holiday. I couldn't book the same room type for consecutive stays, so I stayed in two rooms, the Pagoda View Supreme Twin Bed and the Supreme Corner Twin Bed. The service and view of the food are good. The location is right at Kiyomizudera Temple, which is very convenient. Children like it.

We started off arriving after a long day of travel and were met with serenity. After inspecting our first room, facing an inner courtyard, we requested a change. Dennis was quite helpful in helping us change rooms offering us 2 different rooms to choose from. |Truly hats off go to Sono in reception. She helped my wife track down misplaced travel documents which was above and beyond what would be expected. Again kudos to Sono.|The rooms were excellent and the overall vibe tranquil. Would recommend without reservation. Only caveat being the drinks at the rooftop bar were subpar. The view was exemplary which is what brought us back a second time but even a second visit revealed that their bar manager and bar tenders need remedial work on cocktail creations.|Overall a wonderful hotel close enough to walk to downtown Kyoto (and the moderate) bustle yet removed enough to immerse guests in the most placid of environments. Recommend without reservations.
