I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! While the rooms aren't massive, they are decently sized and comfortable. The real gem here is the location—you can walk to most of the major tourist attractions, which made exploring the city incredibly convenient. What truly sets this place apart is its grandeur and exquisite interior. Stepping inside felt like traveling back to the Victorian era, with beautifully preserved decor and elegant touches throughout. It’s a rare experience to find a hotel that blends history and charm so seamlessly. Some facilities, like the bathroom, could benefit from a bit of an upgrade, but considering the price I paid, I found it to be excellent value for money. The ambiance, the decor, and the overall vibe made my stay memorable.

while i haven’t been in the hotel, the cafe is absolutely rubbish. Waiting ages for breakfast and the customer service is honestly crap, no music or friendly staff. Nobody has questioned why we’re still waiting here. People stomping around everywhere looking busy and yet my family are sitting here starving. Will most likely not head here again. Maybe this was just our experience but i see why this place is empty. After an hour of patiently waiting on our BREAKFAST until nearly lunchtime. We said something to the staff and all we got was a “oh… we’re so sorry about that” they hadn’t even started out food and were hesitant about giving us a refund. Ridiculous.

Heritage hotel in the best location. We stayed 2 nights, the room was clean & warm, great bathroom, the staff were friendly, readily accessible and helpful. We loved the grandeur & sense of history. Yes areas of the building are showing their age. Some of the furnishings are slightly worn and yes we needed to park off site, in the secure parking area which was just a short walk to the Shamrock hotel, but all in all a great stay! The dinning area, was clean, the staff members working there were helpful, happy and friendly. We enjoyed a choice of breakfast each morning and had an enjoyable dinner there. We look forward to returning.

What a terrible experience for us tonight. We ordered all our meals, clearly stating what and how many, simply holding fingers up to explain. Couldn't even give an apology when our child's meal was missed upon ordering. Then after clarifying a number of times if it was ordered, they confirmed it was. Only to find out after all other people in the venue got their meals that it wasn't. Our child continued to go hungry for a while longer. When my child went up to check, got told "We are working on it!" No apology. After my child walked out and refused to come in to eat, her meal was finally served. No apology still. I asked for it to be placed in a takeaway tub as she was upset. I got told "We actually are giving it to you for free because it didn't even get ordered!" So much rudeness and still no apology.

Fourteen of us from our walking group stayed overnight. The ambience was great, the rooms very nice with comfortable beds and the breakfast was so tasty. Prince Charles (now King) and Princess Diana stayed there in 1983. We are definitely coming back.

Rooms are large. Meals are good. Good bathroom but you lose hot water in shower when another room is showering. Our big problem was the council owned car park. The shamrock does give you a voucher. The problem we had was that unknown to us the car park does not open until 7 in the morning. Despite telling the reception lady that we would be checking out early she did not advise the car park opened later. We now know there is a sign but as this car park was offered by the shamrock we made the mistake of not checking. Overall……it doesn’t cost anything to offer advice when customers check in.

We went for dinner as a family. Very disappointed with our meals, they were absolutely terrible. The roast pork was tuff and clearly re-heated, the vegetables were cold and out of a frozen bag. Tiny portions and for $26 which I thought was rather reasonable, until we received our meals. Never will eat there again. Sorry

Yelp
Well, sad to say what appears to be an historic pub is just a pub ruined by an open kitchen cutlery cleaning noise beyond belief loud staff in kitchen area the smell of oil in dining room a neon cake cabinet in an historic dining room! No umbrellas open at 4pm on a sunny day the music inappropriate for the dining room suits doof doof hipsters just a sad relic wanting to be more. Never again!

Yelp
On the accommodation side the rooms are well appointed, very spacious with super comfy beds and good facilities. Old world charm meets ultra comfort.

Yelp
We stayed an evening in the beautiful Rosalind suite and popped downstairs for a late dinner. The 2 x 150g steaks with sweet potato mash was lovely. The wine was also very nice. However, food aside, for me it's all about the service. I had my baby with me and needed things warming up, an extra bowl, a chair - no request was too much. And due to current dietary requirements I needed my breakfast adapted which was also no trouble. The hotel is beautiful and old. They don't make 'em like this anymore. They also run tours of the hotel which would be cool but I didn't take one. Great work Shamrock!

Yelp
The Shamrock Hotel is the iconic Bendigo hotel in the centre of town and with a long history. We dropped in for a Sunday lunch and have had several lunch pub meals in Bendigo so we were expecting great things. The food was reasonably priced but the food was a huge disappointment. I ordered the battered Barramundi and it arrived accompanied by crinkle-cut frozen chips and a plain salad without dressing. My wife had a main size Garlic Prawns from the entree menu but we weren't too sure when it arrived if the smaller version had been served. Considering the number of excellent pubs serving great lunches in Bendigo this visit was really disappointing. Unfortunately, even though we were served by three or four different staff, none of them were interested enough to ask if everything was fine or what we thought of the meals. I would normally give two stars, but given the expectation from such a well known venue one star is all the Shamrock gets today.

Yelp
Very sad to see an iconic Heritage listed landmark be let go as much as she has. This building was the Focus point of Bendigo in my youth, and to see her today is very saddening and disappointing to say the least. Whilst PETER and Craig did everything available to them to make my stay the best they could deliver, The Shamrock let them down. The building smells of musty wet odours, the front bar and grill smells of stale alcohol and fat cooking smells and grime, and really it makes me angry to spend the amount of money on accommodation to left gutted by the experience. Bendigo get behind her and please spend some money and attention on her, be proud of your heritage and look at CRAIGS in Ballarat as an example of how to blend the old and the new.....Very Dissatisfied.

Yelp
Quaint old hotel in the heart of Bendigo. Close to the main shopping area and plenty of restaurants. Receptionists were pleasant and helpful. My room was not spectacular; however for an old establishment, it was clean and comfortable. It even included a small refrigerator stocked with various drinks and snacks. Wifi worked well even on the third floor and was fast enough to do most work. The continental breakfast was minimal, but the food available was good quality and filling.
