Extremely disappointing experience for $200 per night on a work trip. Was provided a room not in the actual hotel but ushered to one around the side that had direct street access. It appeared to be an old shop that had been made into a room with 1990s decor. The room was extremely noisy, drafty and felt very exposed to street level. Every truck, bus, car and pedestrian was audible and unsettling. There was not desk to work on. Totally overpriced and outright dated. Was a 2 star motel at best. An absolute rip off and would not recommend.

An outstanding heritage building - a significant part of the colonial streetscape of Bendigo. The centrality of its location is a very important aspect of the property. The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant food was excellent, as was the service. The facilities were good - the room spacious and quiet. Parking was conveniently located and very reasonably priced. The only comment one can make is that the old lady is now a bit tired in places - the last major refit was in the early 1980s and this is starting to show - but otherwise, a great place.

Didn't stay in the hotel, but visited for dinner. It was a reservation with a large group of people. All the facilities were run down, menu's very much need updating. Tried ordering the apple crumble but was told they no longer served it and instead they had the apple Danish. I'm surprised they hadn't even crossed out on the menus and just let customers think they have it. Waitress wasn't overly friendly either. I ordered the Parma for dinner and it was average, a bit dry and bland. I was expecting good things from the place, I've never been before but from what I've heard it has/had a good reputation. I'm not sure what happened but it unfortunately didn't live up to the hype tonight.

Stunning heritage hotel in awesome location. Very clean & warm room, great bathroom, excellent staff. Outstanding housekeeping. Great ambience. Loved the colonial grandeur & sense of history. Some of the room furnishings slightly worn but still a great stay! Thank you very much! I look forward to returning

We stayed at Hotel Shamrock from July 12–13 and had a very disappointing experience. The room was freezing cold on arrival, and despite turning the heater on at 3:30PM, it remained cold hours later. A staff member checked and confirmed the unit wasn’t working properly, yet no one ever followed up as promised. We waited over two hours and couldn’t reach reception again. My partner became unwell due to the cold, and the lack of support was unacceptable. On top of that, we received a rude call at 10:40AM demanding we check out exclaiming check out was at 10:00qm, even though the hotel’s website clearly says Sunday check-out is 11AM. I emailed management on July 13th and notified the person at front desk on the day of check out about our disappointing stay, who said someone would contact me a but I’ve received no reply whatsoever. Weeks later, we’ve been completely ignored despite multiple attempts to reach out. For the amount of money we spent, this level of service is shocking. No accountability, no apology, and no basic customer care. DO NOT STAY HERE.

We came here for a birthday lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Tori waited on our table and she’s terrific! Even after a minor mishap with our order we felt that her service was good enough for a five star review. It’s not about the mistake… they do happen! It’s about the recovery and it was promptly corrected. The food was great and arrived without delays so we’re extremely happy with our lunch experience at the Shammy.

We stayed in a small standard room which was perfect for what we needed. Reception and bar staff were warm, friendly and funny. Aswell as incredibly helpful. This entire place has so much character and charm. The ambient sounds of the traffic going past didn't bother us and reminded us our city stay in London. Great coffee and breakfast. This will be a regular stay for us.

This was our second stay at The Shamrock hotel. We love it! In fact we have rebooked for 2 months time to attend the paranormal night! The staff were all lovely, food yummy. There were 6 of us & we all love our meals Comfy beds & pillows, beautiful rain shower & we loved being able to all sit in the first floor lounge & out on the balcony. Thank you so much! See you again in July.

Yelp
Well, sad to say what appears to be an historic pub is just a pub ruined by an open kitchen cutlery cleaning noise beyond belief loud staff in kitchen area the smell of oil in dining room a neon cake cabinet in an historic dining room! No umbrellas open at 4pm on a sunny day the music inappropriate for the dining room suits doof doof hipsters just a sad relic wanting to be more. Never again!

Yelp
On the accommodation side the rooms are well appointed, very spacious with super comfy beds and good facilities. Old world charm meets ultra comfort.

Yelp
We stayed an evening in the beautiful Rosalind suite and popped downstairs for a late dinner. The 2 x 150g steaks with sweet potato mash was lovely. The wine was also very nice. However, food aside, for me it's all about the service. I had my baby with me and needed things warming up, an extra bowl, a chair - no request was too much. And due to current dietary requirements I needed my breakfast adapted which was also no trouble. The hotel is beautiful and old. They don't make 'em like this anymore. They also run tours of the hotel which would be cool but I didn't take one. Great work Shamrock!

Yelp
The Shamrock Hotel is the iconic Bendigo hotel in the centre of town and with a long history. We dropped in for a Sunday lunch and have had several lunch pub meals in Bendigo so we were expecting great things. The food was reasonably priced but the food was a huge disappointment. I ordered the battered Barramundi and it arrived accompanied by crinkle-cut frozen chips and a plain salad without dressing. My wife had a main size Garlic Prawns from the entree menu but we weren't too sure when it arrived if the smaller version had been served. Considering the number of excellent pubs serving great lunches in Bendigo this visit was really disappointing. Unfortunately, even though we were served by three or four different staff, none of them were interested enough to ask if everything was fine or what we thought of the meals. I would normally give two stars, but given the expectation from such a well known venue one star is all the Shamrock gets today.

Yelp
Very sad to see an iconic Heritage listed landmark be let go as much as she has. This building was the Focus point of Bendigo in my youth, and to see her today is very saddening and disappointing to say the least. Whilst PETER and Craig did everything available to them to make my stay the best they could deliver, The Shamrock let them down. The building smells of musty wet odours, the front bar and grill smells of stale alcohol and fat cooking smells and grime, and really it makes me angry to spend the amount of money on accommodation to left gutted by the experience. Bendigo get behind her and please spend some money and attention on her, be proud of your heritage and look at CRAIGS in Ballarat as an example of how to blend the old and the new.....Very Dissatisfied.

Yelp
Quaint old hotel in the heart of Bendigo. Close to the main shopping area and plenty of restaurants. Receptionists were pleasant and helpful. My room was not spectacular; however for an old establishment, it was clean and comfortable. It even included a small refrigerator stocked with various drinks and snacks. Wifi worked well even on the third floor and was fast enough to do most work. The continental breakfast was minimal, but the food available was good quality and filling.
