The Hotel Zamora

The property is absolutely beautiful at first glance. The lobby is stylish and welcoming, and my room was spacious and well-appointed. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t live up to the first impression. The rooftop is a great feature and offers stunning sunset views, but it’s only open on select days (I believe Thursday through Sunday). During my visit, food service on the rooftop was suspended due to the restaurant being too busy, which left several guests disappointed and hungry. My room’s hairdryer only blew cold air, though I was able to get a replacement. I also ran into issues with payments—on two separate nights, the bartender didn’t have enough cash in the drawer, so I had to charge everything to my room. I had a similar issue when buying toiletries. Since my trip was for business, and the room was billed to a company account, not being able to use cash made reimbursements difficult. Staffing appears to be an issue, as the hotel seemed short-handed throughout my stay. Service was generally inattentive, and staff didn’t seem particularly friendly or helpful. While the beach access is a nice perk, it wasn’t clearly marked that Hotel Zamora guests could go through the gate labeled “private.” At checkout, there was no one at the front desk, so I left my keys and left. A few days later, I noticed I had been charged again for the room—even though I had prepaid through a booking site. It took three days and multiple phone calls to have the charge reversed. Also worth noting: there’s an $80 resort fee plus tax. It’s unclear what this covers, as there was no service at the rooftop or pool during my stay, and housekeeping only visited once during a three-night trip.

I recently stayed at Hotel Zamora and had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect—peaceful, quiet, and beautifully situated. The property smelled amazing and was impeccably clean throughout. I especially loved the Jacuzzi, which was a relaxing highlight of my stay. The rooms were tastefully decorated and added to the overall luxury vibe of the hotel. Valet parking was a convenient perk, and while I didn’t use the complimentary bikes or kayaks, it was great to know they were available. The only thing that kept this from being a five-star experience was that the bed was a bit too firm for my liking. Other than that, everything exceeded expectations. I would absolutely recommend Hotel Zamora and would stay again!

We were there for a wedding that the hotel was hosting and arrived around 1:20pm for a 4:30pm wedding. We paid for early check-in and called four days prior to check-in to make sure that it would be possible and was told we could be checked in between 12-1pm only to wait almost 2 hours to get into a room. The room we were placed in was not the inter-coastal view we paid for due to our original room needing a leak fixed. Friends of ours also staying at the hotel didn't request early check-in or pay the early check-in fee but their room was ready as soon as they walked into the hotel, while I was left waiting for a room. I overheard someone from house keeping saying "well they just need to be patient" and as someone who works in the service industry I understand and sympathize but it was almost two hours after our arrival for early check-in and we still hadn't been given a room. The only manager on staff during a holiday weekend with a wedding & wedding guests staying on the premises was a bar manager who could only give us a free drink for our troubles. He set us up at the bar told us he'd check on our room cam back said it would be 15 more minutes and told us he'd be back but then never came back. I had to wait until 10:30am Tuesday the day of check out (which is at 11am) to speak to a manager that stated she could adjust our early check-in fee and waive the resort fees for our stay and that we would have a new itemized bill sent to my email. Nothing was mentioned about giving us a lower rate for the room that we stayed in not being the inter-coastal view room we paid for. It took over three days to get my new itemized bill, and I had to call the hotel back myself in order to receive it. When I got my bill it still has the early check-in fees and resort fees listed on it. By the time I received the email and was able to call back there was no longer a manager available to talk to so now I have to wait until Monday in order to talk to someone almost a week after checkout. The wedding was beautiful and the bartending staff that took care of us were awesome but overall our experience was poor. For being a boutique/luxury hotel it was very poorly staffed/managed. I will not be a return customer or recommend this hotel to any friend or family.

I loved this hotel and would consider coming back. We stayed through the week and did encounter a number of blunders. Partly because they just didn’t have enough staff while we were there. Issues with staffing was the main thing. Seth the food and beverage manager went out of his way to make it up to us and Jason the valet man did the same and it made a huge difference. We requested our room get cleaned 3 days in a row and they simply didn’t have enough house keeping staff. I am celiac and our breakfast waiter didn’t know what gluten was…. AT ALL. We figured it out and everyone that worked there was so kind and helpful and the hotel is located in a great spot of st Pete beach. It’s quite close to the don and to nearby things. Loved staying on the intercostal side of the beach. Overall the rooms are comfortable and nice to be in and very nicely sized. We would come back for sure.

I never write bad reviews but I must. I am currently at Hotel Zamora and it is one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I've ever had. First off, there was no shampoo in the bathroom—something so basic should never be overlooked. When I attempted to dine at the restaurant, it took an astounding 20 minutes to be seated and they came as we were walking out, despite the fact that there was not one customer. I couldn’t find a bartender, server, or anyone who worked there. I couldn't help but wonder what the staff was doing during that time. To add to the list of disappointments, there were no pool towels available this morning. I had to dry off with a small hand towel after a swim, which was quite inconvenient. The front desk staff were unhelpful and seemed indifferent to our concerns. Every interaction felt like a chore for them, which made it difficult to get any assistance. The girl when we checked in mumbled so much we couldn’t even understand them. This morning when asked how to access the pool they told me to go to “R” in the elevator which led me to the rooftop with no pool. It seems like no one here knows what is going on. To top it off, I just got back to my room and it’s dirty and they said they would call me right back about house keeping and it’s been over half an hour. I give up here. Lastly, I was looking forward to relaxing with some movies, but there is no option to stream anything on the TV. In this day and age, that’s just unacceptable. Overall, my stay so far has been a letdown, and I cannot recommend this hotel based on this experience. It’s been 24 hours and hopefully it turns around but not hopeful. There are plenty of other options in the area that are far more accommodating and have WAY better service.

We stayed this past weekend for a staycation. Greeted with a glass of champagne by two lovely desk agents. Our room was not ready so they directed us to the new Azura Coastal Kitchen. We snacked on a hummus board with some delicious fried oysters. ||The head of guest services, Corina noticed our wait and got us an upgraded room facing the Gulf.||We caught the sunset on the beach across the street and ended up eating dinner at Azura! Great location. I recommend having some patience because after 2 x hurricanes and a top to bottom rennovation, the staff is doing their best to accomodate everyone. All said, this is our new favorite place to stay on St. Pete Beach!

Beautiful hotel with a great restaurant and bar. The food was outstanding as was the service. Location is perfect for anything you want to do on the beach. Pool area is very nice and the hot tub actually works. However it is all valet parking.

We asked every day 4 or 5 times a day we could not get our room cleaned or any fresh towels on our 4 night stay. The pool never had clean towels. There was a napkin and dirt in the pool that never got removed the entire time. The rooftop bar never was open and the pool bar never had anyone working. You have to beg some for chairs for beach and they only have a couple they carry across the street. I would not recommend to anyone they charge a resort fee every day and claim they are a 4 star but it was definitely a 1 star experience.
