The Hoxton, Vienna Review: Set in an Old Government Building, This New Hotel Is One of Europe’s Coolest Stays

"The Hoxton, Vienna offers a unique experience in a 1950s modernist building, formerly the headquarters of Austria’s Chamber of Commerce. The hotel features a double-height lobby with natural light, original travertine-clad walls, and terrazzo flooring, creating a mid-century modern ambiance. The rooms range from 'Shoebox' to 'Roomy', all dog-friendly and equipped with smart furnishings like open wardrobes and rainfall showers. The hotel also includes several dining options, a rooftop pool with panoramic views, and accessible facilities. It emphasizes sustainability practices and aims to eliminate single-use plastics by 2024." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We had a lovely stay at The Hoxton, Vienna. It’s stylish, super central, and very comfortable. The room was surprisingly spacious, with a bed that was incredibly cozy and a large shower with fantastic water pressure. ||As with other Hoxton properties, the staff were consistently warm, friendly, and accommodating. However, the daily housekeeping left a bit to be desired—empty wine glasses and bottles sat in our room for a couple of days without being cleared, which was a little disappointing for a hotel of this caliber.||One downside during our stay was that the hotel seemed to be constantly hosting events. That meant we never got to check out the rooftop deck, and the lobby was always packed so we could rarely find a seat to relax or grab a drink.||That said, the location is excellent, easy to walk or grab an Uber to anywhere in the city. Despite a few hiccups, we’d definitely consider staying again, especially for the design and comfort.

We had a fantastic stay at The Hoxton Vienna and would absolutely return! The location is unbeatable – right in the heart of the city, with stunning views of St. Stephen’s Cathedral from our room. The hotel's atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with an impressive attention to detail in both architecture and interior design. It’s effortlessly stylish yet still feels cozy and inviting.||||A real highlight is the rooftop – both the bar and the pool offer breathtaking views over Vienna and make for an unforgettable experience. The rooftop bar seems to be a favorite among locals as well, giving the whole place a lively, “place-to-be” vibe.||||The only downside was a breakfast service issue one morning, where my order was unfortunately forgotten despite a couple of reminders. Thankfully, this was a one-time occurrence and didn’t overshadow the overall wonderful experience.||||All in all, The Hoxton Vienna combines design, comfort, and location in a way few hotels do – highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy Vienna in style!

Really great, friendly check in staff who went out of their way to help and advise us on places to visit while in Vienna. ||We had a ‘roomy’ room on first floor overlooking the main entrance to the hotel. First impressions were good, although I wouldn’t call it ‘roomy’! Great window seat overlooking Vienna, beds really comfortable with good pillows and duvets, shower was brilliant and room cleaned each day. ||Breakfast service slow, but we weren’t in a hurry and the food was good. Wouldn’t bother with the breakfast bag - juice, apple and what we would call a kids squeezy fruit snack! ||Pool area on rooftop was so busy but we were there when the weather hit 28! Service at rooftop bar left a lot to be desired - if you don’t want to wait on guests then don’t work there! We didn’t let it spoil our evening - the views and atmosphere made up for the lack of customer service. ||Great location and I’d definitely stay again.

We booked meeting room for a group of 6 people for 3 days in this hotel. To say that we were satisfied- it means say nothing. I have never met such high level of service- everything was organized at the highest level. But the special thanks to the hotel’s staff - everybody was so friendly, polite and positive, such support definitely helped us to have productive meetings. The hotel itself is very cosy, modern, new and beautiful. Highly recommend to visit it!! We will definitely return but not only for business meetings, but and to live here as well !

Modern hotel vibe, great location. Think they were short staffed so lower bar closed early and limited breakfast service on the lower terrace. Upper roof top bar very popular with non residents so hard to get seating and service was frankly take it or leave it. Room was not cleaned despite several requests,so review reflects.

This is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The hotel vibe is modern and bright while still being cozy and comfortable (great style that does not sacrifice function or comfort). The bed was very comfortable with fluffy pillows and the room quiet with blackout curtains so I slept well. The shower was PHENOMENAL, like if they could package up that shower and ship it home with me, I would pay top dollar. The toiletries are fresh and quality. The room is small but well-appointed. I are ate at the hotel restaurant, Bouvier, three times during my stay (breakfast, brunch and dinner) and each time the service and food were excellent. The fresh-squeezed OJ and French omelet were delicious, the bread fresh, and the cappuccino with the right amount of foam. I was in town for a conference and I am SO glad the conference hotel was booked, as staying at this hotel instead was such a treat. Thank you!

This review is for the rooftop bar. Sent an email to reserve a table. Never got any answer (this should have been a red flag, already). Still took a chance and found a table for 4 on the outside. Only to find out that you have to get your (overpriced) drinks and food (!) yourself and there is no service. Altough they charge 7,80 EUR for a 0,45l beer (what size is this!?) and 13.- EUR for a small salad, you feel like at a canteen at lunch time. Customers who order food need to get up from their tables constantly and check back at the counter, if their food is ready, yet. Absolutely unacceptable - if I‘m asked to pay top notch prices, I do expect top notch service and not to have to work as a waiter or food runner myself. It looks like 90% of the clientele is young instagrammers who don’t care about prices, nor service and never have been at a place with good service, anyway. If you want a relaxing evening and get adequate service, go somewhere else. Vienna has plenty of great options. Positives: -location/view -friendly barkeeper

Hotel interior is beautifully done and very chique. Location is great for exploring the city center of Vienna. Unfortunately, the rooms are very loud and the receptionist very unfriendly. After complaining about the loud noise from the rooftop bar - which felt like the room was just next to it, even though we had several floors between the room and the rooftop bar - the receptionist explained that this is a party hotel and to basically live with the noise - this at 2am! Even though this is a lifestyle hotel, hotel guests should not have to worry about getting some quiet sleep in due to the rooftop bar of the hotel. Unfortunately would not recommend staying there unless you want to be part of the late night party.
