The Hoxton, Vienna

Was curious to see how this new hotel would fare. We were very impressed. The rooms are well-appointed and stylish (as is the property on the whole). The rooftop pool and bar are both great (but get very busy so would highly recommend booking both). There’s also a downstairs terrace and bar which is great too. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from many main landmarks and restaurants. We visited over a weekend in August and the hotel was very busy with a definite “buzz” about it. Clearly this is a popular destination for those living in and visiting Vienna alike. If you’re looking for a trendy and happening hotel then this is your obvious choice. But perhaps would not he right for those looking for a more laid back atmosphere.

We had a nice room with a city view, the location is really good since you're in the center of the city. Even though the location is the center of Vienna, there is no noise from the traffic, but only complete peace. I loved the rooftop and the pool itself was amazing, really recommend to visit. The whole staff was very welcoming, especially the girl at the reception name Lea. She gave us all the necessary details regarding the city and all other things we asked her. She made our stay more pleasant. She is the one person to talk to when you're not sure where to go and what to do.

Booked the Hoxton Vienna through Disloyalty with a 50% off promo so I was happy with the costs. Check in was seamless, offered water and help with bags to the room. We booked the largest room size available and it was still pretty small. Upon going to sleep turns out the bed is snapped in the middle. They moved us to the only other available room in our category. It was an accessible room (this is the room they use for the images online of the larger room so not representative of what you would get normally). The room wasn’t checked before we moved and it had cobwebs and spiders on the nightshade. Breakfast was nice however staff seemed new and didn’t know the options well. Both of our breakfast options contained toast, it was served dry. We were charged €1.50 each for butter. The pool area: €50 minimum spend for a lounger for half a day. It’s done in 2 blocks. You can only keep yours if it’s not booked for after you. It’s not really a restaurant at the top, more of a back bar, maybe max 6 things on the menu. I waited over half an hour for a drink when I flagged this to the server her response was “you counted the time” no care or apology however she must be demented having to explain the lounger policy to people all day. I watched so many people argue with the staff and leave. I’ve never known a hotel pool to charge staying guests for a lounger by the pool. If you’re going with a group of friends and you plan to drink round the pool all day then the €50 won’t matter much. Overall good location but lots of work to be done to make this seem like a good option for your stay in Vienna.

While it was never on my bucket list, I found myself needing to travel to Vienna for work. I wanted to make sure I stayed somewhere centrally located so I can do some exploring but I also wanted to appreciate the little details that bigger hotels don’t have. The Hoxton Vienna was perfect. Even though the rooms are a little on the smaller side, I didn’t need much else. The staff was really helpful at making recommendations for where to go sightseeing. And the waiters and bartenders were always open to have conversation. Truly a wonderful experience, and if you’ve never been, GO! Vienna waits for you!

Booked a shoebox room last minute as had to stay over night in Vienna because of the trains impact from the flood, and turns out really means shoebox, room was very small when I mean small, it means even if you've a small hand carry suitcase, the floor space is so small that you can't even open your suitcase properly unless you place it on the bed or something. For me as I've no luggage, it's fine, but I certainly will not book this if I've any luggage with me. ||As I checked in after 1am just for a quick night sleep. In the morning, only to discover when I want a quick coffee before checking out, the cup was used and not washed from previous guest, the spoon there was covered with dried yoghurt, I had to wash both cup and spoon myself before I can use it, there's rubbish on the floor near the bin which wasn't even picked up before I checked into the room, I had to put them into the bin myself just so the floor looks clean. ||I didn't notify the hotel instantly regarding these issues, because I was also having to quickly fresh up and leave, really thought what's the point? would be faster for me to wash them myself clear the rubbish than make someone to come and do it that's at least what I thought.||The bathroom is very clean, the coffee/tea provided was good selections. These are the pros I can only think of for the room. ||Very disappointed overall as the room should have been cleaned properly before next check in guest. Consider paying EUR189 for the shoebox room for few hours use with such bad standard of cleanliness, it's really not acceptable. ||The bed was a single bed, but the mattress is extremely soft like you'll sink into it if you lay/sit down. If people like soft beds maybe okay but personally prefer a harder bed, this was really bad. ||The roof top bar is stunning, definitely one of the best hidden gem in Vienna, cocktails are great, however downside was drinks were served extremely slow. The first round drinks came after 20mins order, the waitress was trying to place the drinks on the table but as we were sitting down, she accidentally poured some drinks over my head as she's trying to place the drinks on the table but by passing above our heads. (bad idea clearly). She didn't even bring me any napkins to dry my arm and hair. I had to use my own. It's just a quick sorry but didn't feel sincere. Inexpereinced perhaps. We spent few hours there with a work group about 15 of us, we're all disappointed how slow the service was when the place was 20% full. Can't imagine if the place is busy and full. Also after 11pm, not allowed to drink outside. That's disappointing as the Terrance is really beautiful. ||I will probably return only for the bar view, if the service is better, but to stay, definitely will not consider after this experience. ||I believe this is quite a fair review as there's little pros in this place. However, service and cleaniness of the room has gotta improve.

We have been to Vienna many times and our experience at the Hoxton was good. The standard rooms are definitely too small for two guests, there is no closet and hardly any space for your stuff - if staying a the hotel you definitely need to book a larger room for two. The hotel is very nicely designed. Staff is very friendly and skilled (which is a great plus these days). Breakfast is served (no buffet) which is great! ||Just one big minus: You cannot escape from loud music - it is not only in the bar but also in the hotel lobby and the restaurant. There is not place for a relaxed rest or even a normal conversation :-( For this reason we prefer other hotels in Vienna and will probably not return to the Hoxton.

The Hoxton is an overprized boutique hotel with a true lack of service. Room cleaning is upon request only, there are no beverages in the minibar but one needs to go the reception and get them by oneself. There are long queues for the breakfast in the morning and I had to wait 15min before even receiving my coffee. The policy of the pool usage (please read carefully) is ridiculous. Overall I feel very sorry for the staff, who try hard, but are all extremly young and obviously inexperienced in the service and hospitality industry. For the money you spent at the Hoxton you can find at least 10 hotels in Vienna that are nicer, more welcoming and with far more service.

Amazing! I loved the Cayo Coco rooftop bar. The bar is beautifully designed and the pool is lovely, with beautiful city views. Joseph was so kind and helpful - he made our visit to the bar so fun and easy. I recommend trying a “Naked and Famous” cocktail. I’ll definitely be back.
