The Hudson Oven

We were in Croton on the Hudson picking up an item and decided to stop by for breakfast. I’m so glad we did! My husband had the breakfast special sandwich and I had the breakfast burrito. Both were excellent! As we sat outside for about 30 minutes, enjoying our food and the weather, at least a dozen people walked in and out all carrying a loaf of their sourdough bread so of course we had to go get a loaf to bring home. Omg it’s perfect.. crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. We also took home a few baked goods to try but my favorite was the scone. The owner was very pleasant and made the whole experience even better.

Their oven-roasted turkey, avocado, bacon sandwich on their homemade sourdough bread is INSANE. The best turkey sandwich I’ve had. Made with fresh turkey and this mayo that’s also unreal. I would eat this every week if I lived close by and sit in their adorable sunlit outdoor seating. Cannot wait to come back and get it again and try their pastries, which also look delicious. 5 stars!!!!

This place has quickly become a staple in my weekends. The food is fantastic every time. The scone and hand pie are life-changing, the sourdough loaf never survives the car ride home, and the breakfast burrito…I’m hooked. Everything I’ve had here is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly baked. I also love that they have solid vegetarian options, which makes choosing something good so easy. It’s just one of those spots that instantly feels comfortable and reliable. I’m always looking forward to my next visit!

It took us too long to finally eat here, and we weren't disappointed! We've had their stuff at a few street fairs and the bread before, but we weren't quite prepared for the variety and deliciousness of this place! Special breakfast and lunch sandwiches were amazing, and all baked goods we've ever had are great. You'll pay a little premium for the quality, but it is well worth it.

Our go to place for the best baked bread, flourless quiche (it’s amazing!) my husband absolutely loves the breakfast Sammy, and all the savory dishes, baked goods, and the brown bread chocolate chip cookies are seriously off the charts. The whole shop and its owners Madison and Chase are a beautiful couple with the nicest energy. This place is truly something out of the Hallmark Channel.

OMG There is nothing like this place within a 500 mile radius!! I swear!!! It is truly the greatest blessing to live near The Hudson Oven. The best food imaginable. Westchester food sucks… but this place… Is just…. A gift from God. Well, really it’s a gift from the friendly and talented owners who prepare everything to perfection. I’m not exaggerating when I say everything they make is incredible. I stop by frequently to load up on their to-go food and all of it is 100% amazing. When I first discovered this place I was so happy I could cry. THANK YOU HUDSON OVEN for making actually delicious food within the tragic food desert of Westchester. Oh also their gluten free food is actually great! (And their sourdough is bomb too)

Hands down one of the best bakeries on the planet. You can taste how much care goes into everything. Their bread is made with organic, locally-grown grains that are freshly milled, and it makes such a difference - the flavor is deep and real. And it’s not just the bread. Whether you’re getting soup or a sandwich or a sweet treat from Madison’s kitchen… everything they do shows their care for quality and their attention to detail. The whole place has this warm, thoughtful vibe. Nothing feels rushed or overly fussy - just really good food made the right way. T If you care about ingredients and real craft, this place is a gem. Absolutely worth the trip!

I met a dear friend halfway (Wappingers and White Plains) for lunch at The Hudson Oven. We were very pleased with everything! The service was personal, accommodating and friendly. The food was prepared with care. We had a delicious ham sandwich a tasty fresh beet salad and curried chicken salad. The sourdough bread was perfection and I can see why people come from all over to buy a loaf of this beautiful bread. I would have tried the soup if I had had more room! Of note. the place was crowded and there was a very demanding and unpleasant customer there. The gentleman behind the counter treated her kindly and attempted to find a way to make her happy. I believe he was successful. I recommend this sweet place for its good food and service. I’ll definitely be back again.🤩

Cool place. Glad to have them in town. Everything is good. Only complaint is the price. A loaf of bread is $12 if I remember right. That's too much for us to make it a weekly stop. And the sausage egg and cheese is great, but is it $16 great? The sausage egg and cheese at Croton Mini Deli is $5 and hits the spot. Again, nice for a special treat but can't afford to become a regular.

Phenomenal Crisp outside - Perfect Doughy inside. Perfect for butter or peanut butter, toasted or untoasted. $12 for a large fresh loaf. Unfortunately- no non dairy cookies. Wish they made them.

You have to get an Avocado Turkey BLT- made on their sourdough with fresh roasted turkey. This was a great sandwich today & worth a trip - my better half raved about her avocado toast & yes we left with a loaf of their bread. Great place, great people, a place to put on your list!

The sandwiches and scones were delicious. Friendly service. A little on the pricey side, but it was worth the trip.

They came out the gate swinging! After starting off by offering "sourdough scavenger hunts" and pop-ups, they have now planted roots in croton-on-hudson-- just a stone throw away from the train station. The storefront is small but mighty- offering a nice selection of baked goods, stews, soups, salads, coffee, and, of course, freshly baked bread! If you want to get your hands on one of their fresh loaves, you better get there early or pre-order online because they sell out fast! Currently, they have limited store hours, but with such high demand, I'm sure that'll change in no time. I got the apple oat muffin, which was the perfect bite - chunks of apple and not overly heavy or overly sweet. It feels healthy without tasting too healthy. They also offer a nice cup of coffee with dairy full and dairy free milk options, as well as fair trade raw sugar. My favorite part was hearing a lady ask a gentleman behind the counter a question, and he said, "Let me go in the back and ask my daughter." A modern vibe and values + a genuine family-run core = the perfect addition to this tiny town.

There are good eateries all around us. Even some places that take GOOD up a notch or two to SPECIAL. And then there are the rare few that are hands-down exceptional, turning out foods that are both unique and astonishing and oh so wonderfully tasty. Hudson Oven is that kind of place. The small Croton on Hudson shop is humble. Tossing flour is obviously a dusty business. But one tiny bite of almost anything in this shop, and you'll know you've found something so rare it's akin to edible nirvana. Yeah, I get carried away - good food does that to me. But this is something even more than that. It's really good food made exceptionally well, food that's been consciously crafted to be the very best possible, fit for a king but made available to the masses.... We're lucky around here. A few serious bakers have opened shops of late that all use freshly milled flours made from exceptional grains grown by local farmers. They are all creating breads and pastries that push the definition of delicious. Katonah's LMNOP is one. THE GENERAL BAKESHOW in Brewster is another. And HUDSON OVEN is up there with them, perhaps even better because of its unique approach to business. Read on. Last paragraph.... The sourdough bread here is like no other, Just ohmygod better than any other bread I've ever tasted in my entire life, crusty and airy and heavy and light all at once. And rich with the taste of real bread. A small cheddar biscuit was intense with herbs, the cider donut sets a new gold standard that puts every roadside cider-mill donut to shame. My last bite here was a scone, but I just don't have enough superlatives to describe it accurately. Trust me; you're gonna love it. As you'd expect, food this good takes time and craft and great ingredients. And none of those are cheap to come by. So thinking that "no everyone can afford this" coupled with "everyone should try this" every Sunday Hudson Oven stuffs its big Bread Cabinet and sets it out for the public. Take what you like, pay what you think it's worth.... This place is win/win and I'll never get enough of its goodness.

The bread was amazing. And those sandwich's! It's a homemade sandwich with LOVE! Everything was great. I can't wait to go back! Staff was young and kind and helpful.

Good coffee. Great food and service. Muffins great and linzer cookies amazing. Really serious bakery.

This sourdough bread is the best ever. I am the biggest fan of this super healthy alternative to regular bread. You will love it!

Was so excited to stop by the hudson oven for the first time today! A fabulous new addition to Croton, there's a little something for everyone. We got their coffee, turkey BLT, panko + parm chicken nuggets, cucumber + beet salad, and their bread + onion dip. Everything was so tasty and made with fresh ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised that even someone who is gluten intolerant can find healthy options there!

Took the trip from New Jersey to visit The Hudson Oven. Full disclosure I have known the owners family for years and wanted to show my support. I was blown away by the quality, variety and innovative selections both sweet and savory! Recommendations would of course be the sour dough loaf, the onion tartine was killer and any of the multiple sweets will not disappoint. Do your self a favor and check it out and buy a loaf for a friend!

Hudson Oven Pizza Review I have been buying Hudson Oven's sourdough breads for some time now, and they are simply the best. I also enjoy other items from their selection, but until last week, I hadn't tried the pizza. Let me tell you, it was the best sourdough crust pizza I have ever had. The crust was thin and tasted absolutely out of this world. Despite having a gluten sensitivity, I was able to eat it without any problems, which was a delightful surprise. I want to thank the young and talented couple behind Hudson Oven for their skills and for opening up their store in Croton-on-Hudson. Your work is truly appreciated! Best regards,

Delicious sour dough bread from organic NY grain. Yummy main and side dishes to go. Open on weekends. but well worth the wait.

January 2024, came here because a family member said this place has delicious Sourdough Bread. Since I have never been here when we arrived all the bread was sold. However, I purchased a small container of Split Pea Soup with Ham which was delicious when heated. The soup was not salty or very thick, it was perfect and I would buy it again if I was around the area. The interior of the shop is not large and they do have a few high top stools to sit on by the window. Honestly, in my opinion it doesn't look that inviting to sit inside. It is more of a take-out and go place for bread or sweets. I did try a sample of their Onion Dip that was delicious and I would definitely purchase that on my next visit. Lastly, the staff and owner of the Hudson Oven were delightful to talk to. Note: there is parking on the side and back of the place.

Amazing addition to the lower Hudson valley. Come for the bread, but stay for everything else.

Great selection of breads and prepared foods, soups, and salads. Staff is quick and friendly. The shop is clean and it's nice to see the ovens and where everything is being made.
