I CANNOT STRESS HOW TERRIBLE THIS PLACE HAS BEEN. Living here has been a NIGHTMARE and I wouldn't recommend The Huntington Apartments or Greystar Property Management to my worst enemy. Using BAIT AND SWITCH tactics to get the lease signed they waited until 2 hours before move-in to inform us the apartment wouldn't be ready for 2-3 more days, backing us into a corner and forcing us to reluctantly accept a less desirable apartment.
The BAIT: Laura (Huntington assistant manager) quoted the wrong price on a top-floor apartment with vaulted ceilings, then changed the price after the application was accepted. Laura finally agreed to honor the initial price after she refused to refund us the application and admin fees ($250 total). Laura blamed the new systems.
Laura changed the contracted move-in date 2 weeks before move-in was scheduled, forcing us to move on the day our previous lease ended. Laura blamed remodeling contractors
The day before move-in, Laura changed move-in time from 8 am to 12 pm. Laura blamed the cleaning crew.
At 10:00 AM on the new contracted move-in day, Laura called to tell us our contracted apartment would not be ready for another 2-3 days. Laura was non empathetic and refused to provide any compensation for a hotel, storage unit, moving truck, or refunds of anything but the application fee ($100 of $250). Laura blamed remodeling contractors. (wait.. they were cleaning before the remodel was done???)
The SWITCH: At about 11:00 am on move-in day, Laura called us to let us know she had a less desirable second-floor apartment without vaulted ceilings available, for the same price as the top floor. We begrudgingly accepted because we had nowhere else to go and couldn't afford a hotel, storage unit, another moving truck, and time off work.
Although Numerous issues were documented and provided in writing to Laura using the inspection sheet she gave us, if we wanted them fixed we had to submit each item individually. Many of the items were never fixed.
Master bedroom window is full of condensation in between the window panes that never went away, causing us to be unable to see out of the window.***
Laura was made well aware that no one was to enter our apartment without us being home since we have two large dogs.
Laura provided a window contractor with keys to our apartment and told them to let themselves in. Laura called and left us both a voicemail (while my partner was out of town and I was at work) to let us know that she had already done so.
Once I was able to call back and express my concerns and objection to anyone entering our apartment without us home, Laura told me no one entered our apartment that day.
When the contractor came back to fix our window he advised us that he was in fact in our apartment and could not get to the window because of our dogs. Laura continued to lie.
The contractor confirmed the window was not properly sealed and needed to be replaced. Scheduled time to return and replace the window.
Management sent an email scolding us for setting an appointment and advised us they will not be fixing the window. They stated that if we wanted the window fixed in the apartment we are RENTING, we would have to pay for it ourselves.
Power would turn off randomly in half the apartment which took over a month to fix. The electrician found that wires were not connected correctly in the breaker box with visible and audible electric shortages. (fire hazard)
8 months into our lease we were sent emails claiming they didn't have our renters insurance on file, however, both physical and digital copies were provided on move-in day as required by Laura, which was only confirmed after we responded to the email stating so. Management blamed a computer error.
Management hired contractors to replace outside paneling on balconies. Work started in NOVEMBER at which time they tore off balcony panels exposing rotting wood and left as such until MARCH before completing work.
This list can continue, but we are sure anyone reading this will get why we give The Huntington Apartments and Greystar the lowest possible rating and will share this experience with anyone that will listen, including social media, the BBB, Attorney General, and anywhere else we can find.
