Icon Hotel

"At first glance, it’s hard to see beyond the high-tech surface of this refurbished Art Nouveau building just south of Wenceslas Square, where all 31 sleekly designed rooms have Skype phones, free Wi-Fi as well as biometric safes that unlock with a fingerprint. Despite the high-tech gadgets, the hotel maintains a calm residential feel, and its tastefully minimalist decor, comfortable beds with hypoallergenic linens, professional staff, and moderate prices make it an excellent value in a city with an increasing number of luxe options. Considering the tech appeal and the cool in-house bar and lounge, it’s no surprise that the crowd here tends to be youthful and ready to mingle. In recognition of the late nights, breakfast is served until 11 nightly."

The Icon Hotel and Lounge, Prague, Czech Republic - Explore & Book

"In Prague, what you see is not always what you get. Look in the window of a bar for example, and you might see a few old men sitting at simple wooden tables smoking cigarettes. What you wouldn't know is that downstairs is a veritable lair of stone domed rooms, filled with lively conversations, outstanding food and hip music. The ICON Hotel and Lounge embraces this tradition. Its heavy wooden front doors look fairly battered - more like the entrance to an ageing apartment house than a high-end hotel. But push through them, and you are greeted with colourful yet subdued mood lighting, highly polished floors and a groovy soundtrack. A remnant of the original building is found in a 'secret' inner room with painted Czech patron saints on the wall, for which the hotel is named - but elsewhere all is shiny new. The front desk staff have every right to be snooty but they're just the opposite - warm, helpful and genuinely interested in who you are and where you came from. And despite a plum location on a quiet street just minutes to the madness of Wenceslas Square and Old Town, you get that most rare commodity in European hotels - spacious and immaculate rooms. The ICON Hotel and Lounge offers a chance to party till Prague's wee hours, then stagger home and sleep it off in style. Highs A great location on what feels like a hidden street, with the restaurants, clubs and retail heaven of Wenceslas Square just 3 minutes' walk away Multi-lingual staff who are as generous with their smiles as with information about the area Immaculately clean rooms with biometric safes, Samsung smart TVs, and dreamy handmade Hästens beds Charming spa offering a range of Balinese and Thai massages Cool loft-like club space with guest DJs, a buzzy bar and crowd-pleasing buffet and a la carte breakfasts Lows Rooms lack interesting views Internal sound can carry (but the street is mercifully quiet) Standard rooms have only 1 chair and 1 coat hook, making them feel more like business hotel rooms than a couples' escape No pool, gym or outside space Since our last visit, the hotel's own restaurant has been replaced with an Indian restaurant chain, which is receiving great reviews" - Michael Franco

The ICON Hotel and Lounge (Prague, Czech Republic) 10 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Much is made of Prague’s medieval history, and to be honest, it’s inescapable. If you’re anywhere near the old town, a walk around the block is a trip to the Middle Ages. But there’s no reason why this historic city’s hotels need to be backward-looking — this place is firmly established as a travel destination, and there’s plenty of demand for stylish, contemporary accommodation. Which is where the ICON Hotel and Lounge comes in." - Tablet Hotels

The ICON Hotel in Prague was a first rate stay… why so good?? From the moment we arrived, Valeria, the front desk manager could not be more helpful. Val made the difference between a good stay and a great stay and that makes the difference between a 4 star and 5 star experience. The night manager, an African gentleman (I did not get his name) was a great example of poise, grace and personal civility… these are the things that matter!! A couple of staff members walking the building looked like they did not want to be there and when gesturing to enter through a door first did not display courtesy and thanks for the gesture… maybe that’s why they are not in customer facing roles??? A little bit of civility and good manners goes a long way… Rooms were well cleaned and the breakfast was terrific. You won’t be disappointed with the front line service in both the hotel and the adjacent restaurant for breakfast. Everything is within a good walking distance…highly commend this place without reservation!!!

Staying at this hotel was a truly amazing experience. Its central Prague location made getting around a joy, with the metro and tram right on the doorstep and easy connections to the airport. The staff’s warmth and helpfulness were outstanding; they were always there to answer every question. Our room was pristine, and the bed and pillows were so cozy—we slept wonderfully. We loved the daily housekeeping and fresh towels. The breakfast was a delight, and it was a pleasant surprise to find that the restaurant served delicious and affordable meals for lunch and dinner as well. Make sure you take some time for a soothing massage to complete your stay.

The hotel is a central location, a short walk from Wenceslas Square and 10-15 minute walk to the main train station. Despite this central location it is very quiet. Staff were friendly at reception and for breakfast. My room felt cold at times due to faulty heating system, but they provided me a heater. The room was generally well equipped, but I didn't like the wooden floor and no chair at the desk. I would stay here again.

I'm loving my stay at this hotel! The rooms are spacious with plenty of closet and storage space - super comfortable. Plus, having an Indian restaurant right in the building is a huge bonus. Great breakfast options in the morning and a convenient dining option whenever I crave Indian food. Highly recommend!

Lovely hotel, I enjoyed my stay here. The breakfast is amazing. All you can eat breakfast and you can order something extra to be made for you from the kitchen as well. It was worth every penny spent. And the food tasted great. I love the attention paid to maintenance, the elevator stopped working at some point and they were quick to resolve it. My room was quite warm and they provided me with a fan to fix the problem. The location is remarkable because it is close to almost everywhere. And there are activities around that you can just walk to , without using an Uber at night. Staff are helpful as well.

With a magnificent design, vintage and modern becomes one, giving an outcome of attractiveness and cosy at the same time. The personnel is always ready to help. They will help you out with any demands you might need. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and very clean. The breakfast couldnt be better. 100% recommended!!

This hotel is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are pristine, the breakfast is delicious and the staff is the best hotel staff that I have ever seen! Valeria, Eddy and the night gentleman (forgot his name) are kind, helpful, knowledgeable and treated us with the utmost professionalism. The location is perfectly close and convenient to the old city, transportation, bars/restaurants and shops. ||My friend and I arrived early in the morning from overseas and my room was already prepared! My friend’s room was not, but Valeria gave him a free upgrade to an available room! Our stay in Prague was truly unforgettable thanks to this great hotel!

What a lovely little hotel! Perfect for exploring the city. Centrally located , in easy reach of everything, we only used public transport once and that was up to the castle. Plenty of places to eat/ convenience shops , bars, retail shops within a short walk.||The hotel was very efficient, I messaged them before we left the UK and they arranged a taxi for us, which was waiting for us as we walked through arrivals. Very friendly and chatty guy, gave us lots of info places to go. |The lady who checked us, ( apologies didn’t ask her name) was very helpful and friendly. She booked us a massage for the following evening straight away and gave us lots of information on the city.||The room was clean and comfortable, the bed and pillows especially so! The shower was great . The room as quite warm and stuffy so we had the windows open a lot of the time, as the A/C wasn’t very efficient. The downside to that was during the night we were disturbed with people talking /laughing in the street below. ( The public areas upstairs were also very warm, maybe partly due the amount of windows/glass. As you got into the lift the warmth hit you. Probably welcome in the winter but not so great when it was 26 degrees outside) ||We had breakfast on the first morning, typical European breakfast, buffet selection and a few dishes to order, pancakes were yummy and a big portion. The rest of the stay we ate elsewhere to experience different dishes. ||The day we checked out the same lady who checked us out was very helpful and stored our luggage until we had to depart for the airport. ||I would highly recommend this place to stay!

Yelp
A decent hotel nicely located close to the train station and city center. Rooms are spacious and equipped with newest technology. Outstanding service from reception staff which is knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant staff also did a superb job. Breakfast was included in our room rate, we could choose between pastries, fresh fruits, yogurt, pancakes, hot dishes and filter coffee!!!!!!! Yeah! And low listen guys and girls: breakfast is served all day long (till 11pm). So you won't miss that one. Only reason I deducted 1 star are the very excessive extra charges for instant :laundry service and extra bed (they first wanted 47€ per night which they reduced to 30€ per night after I asked them to consider the fact that my daughter is only 2 years old.) Nice touch but I personally still think that it's way to overpriced. However, we enjoyed our stay and would always stay at the Icon again.

Yelp
I returned to the Icon Hotel this month and my review would basically be verbatim from my previous review. So please read that! It's still a top notch boutique hotel and one of my favorite in Europe. Both people at the front desk welcomed me back by name. The room and bathroom are spotlessly clean; the Hastens bed is fantastically comfortable. The only problem I had this time was the maid removing pillows and towel sets so I had to ask for them back. The restaurant breakfast is simple but awesome with the best fresh mushroom omelet I've had in a long time. Plus the young waitress was super nice and always smiling. I'll be back here again!

Yelp
When I asked a friend about his stay here, he immediately remembered the safe that you lock and unlock with your fingerprint. This will likely be my lasting memory too (hey, it's remarkable) but there's a lot more to love about the Icon than the safe! Friendly staff. I arrived near midnight and got a warm welcome. The guy who checked me in even carried my case upstairs and showed me into my room and explained its various amenities. Better than average breakfast. My colleague let me snag a bite of his pancakes this morning and it made me wish I'd ordered a plate of my own. I had the scrambled eggs and they kept me fueled through the morning. Other offerings include meats, cheese, fruit and bread. Deep tubs and high pressure showers. Sadly, I didn't have time for a bath here but I definitely thought about it! The shower had loads of pressure and helped rinse the jet lag off of me. I've been in many hotels that lack strong showers, I'm glad to say the Icon wasn't one of them. Fair rates. You can easily get a room at the Icon for well less than €150/night, even during the summer high season. Central location. An easy walk to all of the tourist attractions, the Icon's location is excellent. There are plenty of restaurants and shops just outside the hotel (including a well stocked Billa grocery store about five minutes away) and even more within a 15 minute walk. I'd definitely come back to the Icon!

Yelp
This is a more than decent hotel in a great area of Prague. The staff members are amazingly accommodating and overall the decor is very inoffensive. The rooms themselves are void of any design features though, they really are soul-less rooms, but very comfortable. They could probably do with a bit of art or something to make it feel a little more homely. Just a short walk away from the historical centre of Prague, it is ideally placed and tucked out of the way of traffic and busy footfall, perfect for what I wanted. Make sure you make the most of the discounts offered at the Tapas Room next door and the Planet Zen spa for people staying at the hotel!

Yelp
Great hotel in a nice central location in Prague, near Wenceslas Square and about a 10 minute walk to the Old Town Square. The rooms are decent sized, comfortable and well appointed in a modern/minimalist style that one might find in Scandinavia. It is central and easy enough to find even after a late night of drinking. The staff are friendly and helpful and the included hot breakfast (includes eggs and sausage so not a continental breakfast) served in the cheerful cafe is actually very good and you can get it later in the day if you decide to sleep in. Their rates are very reasonable so you really can't go wrong staying here.

Yelp
Prague is the most beautiful city I've ever visited - despite century upon century of conflict, Prague's medieval architecture has survived. With some buildings dating back over a thousand years, including a church from 900 AD, Prague is a must-see city. Icon Hotel is located in the heart of Prague, just a few streets away from Wenceslas Square (named after the same guy from the Christmas carol). It's clean, modern, and close to most of the things you'll want to see. There is a room off of the lobby that serves as a bar by night and a restaurant each morning. The breakfast buffet is excellent: there is coffee (and espresso), cheeses, yogurt, breads, and much more. It's about as European a breakfast as you can have. There are only 4-5 rooms on each floor and it's only a few stories tall. It's a small hotel and therefore is very quiet. The rooms are fairly small but the ceilings are high and the bathrooms are actually pretty spacious. I was here with a college class, so our room had two twin beds. This is a very nice hotel. The staff spoke English which was great for this visiting American. Plus, there was free wifi! I highly recommend Icon.

Yelp
We stayed a weekend in this hotel and it was fantastic. The room was very modern and spacious. We got a very nice intro to everything from the receptionist. I especially liked that you could get your breakfast actually whenever you liked. No boundary to times. You can easily walk everywhere some nice beer gardens and pubs are around. Can definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
LOVED this hotel. We got a good deal booking online, so especially considering the price, I could not have been more pleased. Prague, overall, was great and more affordable than most of the touristy European cities, so we'll hopefully be back and when we are, we'll definitely stay at Icon again. Effie checked us in and I cannot say enough about her. My boyfriend, who's generally a pretty neutral character, actually told her that she had provided the best customer service of any hotel he'd ever stayed in. She gave us lots of recommendations and answered our questions about the city. Her advice ended up helping us a lot! She even took us up to our room and showed us around. Most European hotel rooms I find to be too small, but I was super pumped about our room here! It was spacious and had lots of windows facing the street and HIGH CEILINGS. What!?? Awesome. Two complimentary bottles of water and complementary coffee and tea, as well. YES!!! The coffee was instant, but was surprisingly good. Like, I'm not sure how it was that good. The bed was comfy, though it seemed like the bare mattress was exposed on the side and we slept on a pad or something? I tried not to care and was so tired that I just forgot about it, anyway. Everything was super clean and the decor was chic, if a bit sparse in the bedroom. Bathroom was excellent & you could heat up the towel rack-I did not know that was a thing. No hair conditioner, but none of the other four Euro hotels we stayed at on our trip had it, either. I didn't think either the shampoo or body gel smelled that great-maybe they were trying to make it gender neutral and it just turned out weird? Not like the scents lingered on me, though. Great location-near old town and the main square and down the street from the tram. Effie recommended taking the tram to the castle since it's a bit further, but we wanted to take in everything on the way, so we walked. Not too terribly far, though the weather was hot for me. Amazing breakfast was INCLUDED!! What!?? Awesome. They had lots of offerings sitting out (croissants, bread, cheese, meats, pastries, fruit, cereal, etc) and you could also order something like eggs if you wanted. We had french toast and it came heaped with delicious fruit and a touch of powdered sugar on top. YUM! We also got some drinks at the bar later, both good, and tried the churros-meh. All very reasonably priced, though! Effie set up a car to take us to the airport and had a bagged breakfast ready! The guy who checked us out was also wonderful-not sure of his name. Effie said the building is over 200 years old and was an orphanage until the 1950s! Maybe the high ceilings were to accommodate bunk beds? Fascinating history. Anyway, highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
Reasonably priced hotel with great service and a great staff! My wife and I spent part of (two nights) of our 25th wedding anniversary here, and would gladly book a return stay anytime. A "wellness center" is on site as well that offers a variety of spa/massage packages. Well worth the stay; there are less expensive hotels, but probably none better in Prague.
