First: our three night stay was during the Covid pandemic. Our experience has not been the same as the reviews I've read. When we booked it, we were informed there would not be any housekeeping during the stay. Check in was no contact. Our room (#4) was comfortable, clean, and had good ocean views. The bed has been very comfortable to sleep on. The room had four pillows in it. However, two of those were way too puffed up and in decorative cases.
We were pleasantly surprised to find not only the microwave, coffee pot, and refrigerator we expected, but also an oven and stove top. The room had plates, bowls, cups, silverware, and some basic cooking pans. We bought some easy frozen meals at the grocery store and planned to cook them in the oven. There were no baking sheets or sharp knives in the kitchen. We ended up going back out to buy tin foil and a throw away pizza pan. It seemed a little strange that the kitchen was stocked with a pizza cutter, but no pan. There was a sign in the kitchen letting us know we could ask for any kitchen items we needed and they probably had them. So I made a list, and attached it to the 'service, please' sign to hang from our doorknob. I put the trash out on the morning after our first night, and hoped they'd notice the requests. The lobby was locked our entire stay, and a couple of times we tried calling the number to communicate, and no one picked up. But we had seen Sue and Jeff around a few times, and had been able to talk then.
Anyway, on my list I asked for more bath towels, washcloths, two bed pillows, shampoo and conditioner, sharp knives, a baking sheet, and some spoons. When we got back in the evening, there was a laundry basket left at our door with every item I had requested (and even a few I hadn't).
Breakfast in the mornings was not the fresh pastries I had hoped for (after reading other people's reviews). They were prewrapped coffee cake type things, prewrapped fancy biscottis, one orange juice, one V8, Kind bars, and on the second day, an orange and an apple. Each morning we were given a package of coffee grounds, powdered creamer, and a filter. I had read stories of home baked pastries, and I'll admit this was kind of disappointing. There were not any welcoming drinks or anything, as some reviews mentioned.
I appreciate the way the owners guard the property from parties and obnoxious behavior. Other than a couple of very short-lived times of two young boys shrieking and pretend shooting each other between their car and their rooms, it's been very quiet for us. We hear the ocean, and very little of the other guests.
There are beautiful viewpoints in easy walking distance, and we've seen whale spouts and a few tail flukes every evening. Also, they provided two cozy throws so we can wrap up while enjoying the cool breezes.
There are two small windows that open in this room. I wish there were more opening windows. The breeze is lovely, and of course, we like hearing the water.
The room would really benefit from more hooks on both the bedroom and bathroom walls. I think checking the numbers of silverware, and a basic inventory of kitchen supplies before each guest arrives would be good. A couple of extra normal pillows stored in the room. More than one bath towel per guest. I have long hair, and always need two towels when I wash it. If it's a multi-day stay, perhaps just stocking enough coffee supplies and shampoo/conditioner for those days. With the lobby locked, and already limited hours to ask for needs, it would be nice not to have to ask.
Although I have mentioned several things I found lacking, our stay here has been pleasant, and we would certainly love to come here again. The price is kind of high, considering that the room, while clean and comfortable, is fairly basic. They aren't luxury accommodations, but the location is fabulous. The few things I mentioned would have pushed it up to five stars for me.
