First time staying here thanks to a work drawing I won and I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious, plenty of parking, location phenomenal to get around easily whether walking around downtown Lewes or driving to and from the surrounding area. Right on the canal, with a great outside area, walking paths, playgrounds. The best thing though? The service. Everyone, from those at the front desk to the housekeeping were SO sweet and helpful! 100/10 would stay here again.

Reservation made over the phone with Oz who was extremely helpful and friendly. Convenient parking is included. Stayed 3 nights in very spacious and clean room, bed was very comfortable with beautiful Matouk bed linens. Room was nicely decorated with traditional furniture. We had a nice balcony to sit, relax, chat. Continental breakfast is included – baked goods, very fresh fruits, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, cheese/nuts/dried fruit, bread & muffins for toaster & cold cereals. Coffee was hot and strong. Good breakfast restaurants within walking distance if big, hot breakfast desired. Hotel’s location is excellent with a lovely marina on one side and the town on the other. Quick walk to town for restaurants and very good shopping. Make reservations for dinner since places book-up.

We've stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions during the past 22 years and while overall it's been satisfactory, the place has a number of pros and cons. Pros: Central location in downtown Lewes, they provide a continental breakfast, most rooms on the upper (3rd & 4th) floors have views of the canal, comfortable beds, plenty of parking for hotel guests, staff are hospitable. Cons: Room floor coverings stained and could do with renewal, spotty wi-fi reception especially late in the day, instead of central heating & cooling, each room has its own unit which makes for fitful sleeping when it kicks on during the night, second floor balconies while large, have their view blocked by trees.

This is a very high end Inn in historic Lewes Delaware. Beautifully furnished within walking distance of everything in downtown Lewes and the beach. They serve a great European continental breakfast. It’s right next door to a great restaurant. The Harbour Inn which we highly recommend. It’s not a cheap getaway but wonderful for a couple of days of luxury

We recently returned to the Inn at Canal Square after years not staying. We went right after Christmas as a getaway. We've been visiting Lewes from various states we've lived in, as we always thought we would retire there, and love the Henlopen State Park. Firstly we stayed away as our last visit in 2005?, we found the room was old looking, thought the inn was going to be sold since it appeared drab, and we found another option. We stayed this past Dec in room 405, which we enjoyed. End room with comfortable bed and chairs. There is a Keurig in the room as well which was nice. The bathroom is small but fine for a short stay. We had a view of the canal and a small balcony with 2 chairs; we would definitely want this view during spring and summer. The breakfast was perfect - continential style with juices, pastries, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, toast, cereal and cheese. I can't imagine wanting anything else and found it amusing that this was not enough for some guests; continental doesn't mean omelettes and panckakes. We've stayed in various inns, B&Bs, and 5 star hotels in various countries, and found this comfortable and worth it's price. The staff is very friendly as well from front desk to cleaning staff. We're glad we've returned and hope to make it back soon!

Great location and beautiful views. The service was excellent. Nice people with good advice about where to go. Also created us very kindly when one of us got sick.

Comfortable and convenient, close to a park, close to the water, and not far from the ferry. Who could ask for more? We would return if we need to.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed my stay at the Inn. When I return, I will definitely want to stay here again. It offered such a friendly, relaxing respite to everyday life. Reservations can be made online or through directly calling. When I had a little confusion online with the dates I wanted and the room type of room, I called their reservation desk. They made it quite easy and work for me. Price is competitive, especially when compared to similar area waterfront hotels. The Inn is located in downtown Lewes along the canal with wonderful views. Easy walking distance to Lewes downtown restaurants, shops and historic sites. The Lewes beach is just under a mile from the hotel location. Outlet malls, Cape Henlopen State Park, Cape May - Lewes Ferry Terminal and Rehoboth Beach are all an easy drive. The location is ideal. My room was quite comfortable. Had all I could need with an amazing balcony and view of the canal. Someone had cranked the temperature low on the refrigerator. So, it froze items I had placed in it. Housekeeping was respectful of my privacy and diligent about servicing my room when I wanted it. Towels were soft. Bed was very comfortable. Wi-fi was fast. Room and outlaying areas were clean. The Inn offers a small fitness center with the basic equipment useful in doing strength as well as cardio exercise. A breakfast bar is included with your stay. It had a variety of fresh fruit, a couple yogurt flavors, a couple cereals and hard boiled eggs. There were pitchers of different juices, coffee thermoses, a selection of teas available. Breakfast breads and toast varied daily. Much of the breads were store bought type breads. It's a nice spread, but after a few days, I wanted something more. There are several local restaurants conveniently nearby serving breakfast menus that I also enjoyed.

Yelp
This is a fabulous small boutique hotel. Oz is an amazing front desk and reservation person. Our room was clean and perfect in every way. We had two queen beds for my daughter and me. The beds were very comfortable. In the morning breakfast came with the room. It was yummy and easy to enjoy with the other guests in the dining area. If you are in a hurry, grab your breakfast and keep going. The location is spectacular because it's at the Marina. The town of Lewes is quaint and historic. The only negative is don't try to go out to eat without a reservation. Sitting is limited and restaurants fill up early. All and all, we loved the hotel, clean, spacious, comfy beds, and warm hospitality. Highly recommend the Inn at the Canal.

Yelp
a day ago NEW Vacation | Couple We booked 4 nights over Memorial Day. Dreadful Carpets tweedy, dingy and have not been cleaned in quite some time. The same goes for the 2 arm chairs. If you would like to read while sitting in those chairs, forget about it. The light bulb in an ancient lamp was maybe 40w! The TV was ridiculously tiny so forget that. The shower and curtain dingy and the soap bar was so tiny that there was not enough for 2 and THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT THE NEXT DAY. The bedding. Lord! Queen sized bad had a crease right down the center and was impossible to lay comfortable. The pillows were tiny, musty and dirty. The food buffet was pathetic. Poor coffee and all food came from a supermarket and was bland. Bagels were the size of a silver dollar. We checked out Sunday morning and asked for some sort of accommodation....what we got was an additional $93.00 charge!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Yelp
Fantastic location, near both beach and cute shops, quiet. Breakfast is minimal but across street is Breakfast restaurants. Very clean, pretty views, easy free parking. Many restaurants and ice cream shops 1/2 block up...options are plentiful.

Yelp
Cute place with friendly service. Great location - right near the marina and the downtown Lewes area and a 15 minute walk to the beach. I hemmed and hawed over room choices; it's pricey, like all the Delaware beaches in summer. But the slightly higher cost of a balcony with view of the marina was so worth it. Would stay there again.

Yelp
I would return tomorrow if for no other reason than to sit in their breakfast room and enjoy the AMAZING spread. I have never been to a place that had such an amazing offering. The fruit was picture perfect and their pastries were amazing. The Staff at this hotel was over the top nice. I have never had anyone treat me so kindly and jump at the chance to help.

Yelp
What a great location! Right in downtown, yet quiet and luxurious. The staff was friendly, the price was right, and the beaches were beautiful! Highly recommended!

Yelp
I just LOVE this place. The view from the very large room is nothing short of spectacular. The location in downtown Lewes couldn't be better. A real 5 star destination. We will be back.

Yelp
Think, Hampton Inn style, just priced at $300 a night. It is very pricy for what you get. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff is very friendly, the location is very good. The decor is medicore and the breakfast is not worth getting up for. It does have an elevator, the fourth floor has the best view.

Yelp
My mother and I stayed here for 3 nights during our vacation in Lewes and has a lovely time! I thought the whole place was quaint and adorable and very clean. We enjoyed the beach towels they provided although the beach chairs weren't really beach chairs just portable folding chairs, luckily we brought our own. The hotel staff was very friendly and available to answer all of our questions as well as very knowledgeable about things to do in Lewes. The complimentary breakfast was cute and very nicely presented. However their tiny water glasses, tiny bagels and tiny bowels made it difficult to eat very much and we ended up getting big lunches pretty soon after. I do think the hotel was overpriced for what it is but its not that much higher than others in the area. Pros: We love that it was walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants and right on the marina, what a great view! Cons: the beach is not in walking distance, it's about a mile and you must drive there. We would definately stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Lewes.

Yelp
Would give this place 10 stars if I could. Conveniently located near all the quaint shops in Historic Lewes. Fine dining on every street. My kids loved it there. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach or one minute by car. Room was spacious and clean. Staff and maids were courteous and helpful. Very quiet at night and the AC was ice cold. Definitely staying there next year.

Yelp
Lovely hotel with wonderful staff. My husband and I were in Town for the Rehoboth Jazz festival and Joe made our stay a pleasant one. Wow, the history and facts he knew about Lewes and the art in the hotel was wonderful! He was attentive, very professional, approachable and just a joy to talk too!

Yelp
The Inn at Canal Square is a beautiful place. We visited to reserve a block of rooms and suites for the bridal party. I emailed Jesse immediately after our visit to book the block of rooms,as he said they didn't have anything booked that weekend. I followed up 3 times and it wasn't until I called that he told me that they already had a wedding that weekend. I was extremely upset, as had he checked his email he would've seen that I contacted him first for a block of rooms. Regardless, we booked the 2 suites for the bridal party which ended up working out perfectly. The only thing is that the AC wasn't working in one of the suites 1 day, and it was so cold the next day by the time they sent the repairman it didn't matter anymore. Overall, I would go back there but their events person need to be more responsive.

Yelp
Stayed here recently. The place is very pretty the restaurant that is attached has amazing food( GET THE CRAB CAKE, it's to die for and all crab) Bed is comfortable, place is clean minus the musty smells. However we were not impressed by the receptionist, or the musty smell they cover up with spray. The musty smell mixed with scented spray gave us headaches. And as we checked out the receptionist still had a stank attitude. We stood at the desk, she didn't even acknowledge our presence until we dropped the keys on the counter to grab her attention. As a receptionist you'd think to greet the quest upon arrival. It's common sense in a customer service job. She never even looked at us at check out. The breakfast was fine had fruit, bagels, and some other carbs. Nothing too fancy. However the dining area was very nice. The stay could have been a lot better if the customer service was better. WARNING: if you're not staying multiple nights they won't grant you your AAA discount. Even after they tell you they accept them. Also, if visiting for only one night you aren't allowed to have a room with 2 beds.

Yelp
If I could have given it a "no Star" I would have. We stayed there recently for four days. They put us in one of the three rooms that are right across from the entry way to the restaurant next door. The air conditioning never worked properly. The room stank of wetness. We told them about it and they did nothing and said they would look into it. Nothing ever dried in the room. It was a moldy smell. When we got home we had to wash all the cloths we brought with us that we did not wear and kept in the suit case because the stench penetrated the suit cases and got into the contents. The breakfast is terrible. The fruit is luke warm and clearly aged. For the money I am sure you can get something much better. This place is terrible!

Yelp
Amazing location in charming Lewes. Never want to leave this town! Easy to walk to shops, restaurants, bars but about a mile drive to beach. Really close to the awesome Junction and Breakwater Trail to bike to Rehoboth which I highly recommend. The bike ride loop takes the better part of the day but worth it for a change of pace from the beach. The 2nd floor room was large and clean with a great balcony but slightly dated. Great bed and convenient mini fridge (and small gym off the lobby). Breakfast is fine, hot coffee and fresh fruit but not the best selection of breads/other.

Yelp
Overpriced for what you get. There was considerable rain the weekend we visited and the room and hallways smelled musty and the carpet in places was damp. Servpro (the water clean up company) was parked outside. The European style breakfast was pretty basic like something you would get at a Holiday Inn .

Yelp
We stayed in the Dogfish Head Suite as a part of the 360 Experience that they offer. I booked a few nights for a birthday present, and we had a blast! The room was excellent - completely decked out in Dogfish Head gear: the walls, the books, the music in the room, the beer in the fridge. It was the little details that really made the difference - each room had a picture related to beer & the brewery, the toiletries in the bathroom were beer related as well! The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great time, and I cannot say enough good things about our trip (and this package!) The onsite bar / restaurant was nice as well - and we had a great time with the bartender! I recommend this Inn & the 360 package to anyone who will listen. Made for a terrific getaway from NJ, and a fantastic birthday that we will never forget!

Yelp
Lovely location and house. Room was beautiful with a view on the canal. Breakfast was nice, nothing extraordinary. The owner/manager was a bit rude on departure. We assumed (as is the case in most bed and breakfasts) that we could use the general facilities after checking out of our room, but we were hastily ushered out. A nice weekend but sour taste at the end.

Yelp
Stayed here recently as part of a midweek 360 Dogfish Head package they offer. We were celebrating our anniversary, so were willing to spend a bit more for accommodations than we would typically. And, we wanted to do this package. However, as the other reviewer noted, this is an overly-priced Inn if you are just looking to spend a few days at the beach. The service was excellent - everyone was nice, offering relevant information regarding details of our stay, and the local area. The room was spacious and mostly clean. We had the Dogfish Head suite, and loved the craft beer theme (Dogfish Head) of the suite. The breakfast was actually more than we thought it would be - European style buffet (cereal, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, cheeses, coffee, tea, juices, etc). Lewes, DE is a quieter town compared to Rehobeth, and the crowd tends to be older, without children. This is definitely more our speed. Not sure we would return to the Inn simply because of the price. Otherwise, it was a very nice stay.

Yelp
We had a terrific experience at the Inn. Staff was friendly and service perfect. Recommend highly. Great location.

Yelp
I stayed overnight with my daughter for a mom-daughter time. When I called for reservations, I was told I could use the AAA discount. After that I was told because I was staying only one night that are not allowed to use it. PICK ONE!!! Either you take it or you do not. I feel like I was punished for only staying one night @ almost $300.00 a night, with tax. The receptionist was so busy looking at the computer when we checked out I had to put my keys on the desk to get her attention. She never said...be with you in a moment, nothing. Upon arrival we had to walk through the cigarette smoke of the reception, who was smoking right outside of the front door. Our room smelled like mold/must. The Febreeze that they used to cover it up gave my daughter and I both a headache. The temperature, outside, was near 112*. When I called down to the desk and asked about water.. I was told they do not stock water (bottled) for the rooms. WOW!!! In that temperature, really? So, there was a knock at the door and someone did bring two bottles of water with the Inn's name on the bottles. Go figure! We dined at Gilligan's which is part of the Inn. I was told when we walked in that the dining room would be cooler than the front desk! WRONG...maybe 2* cooler. We BOILED through dinner. The only good thing I can say is I had the BEST crab cake, ever. My daughter's hamburger was yummy. OH! We also had a dead ant, stuck to the dinner menu. I told our waitress and she said we have lots of ants. She did offer to remove the dead ant, from the menu. I would not recommend this to anyone to stay and not even for one minute.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, beautiful setting. Not dog friendly at all. We were put in the one "dog-friendly" room. Our 8 month-old dog made a few scratches on the inside of the bathroom door (maybe a 4X4"area), which we mentioned as we checked out. The housekeeper had already mentioned it to the management who had tacked on a $200 fee to the bill. Maybe a 20 minute to a half hour repair job at most. I understand that a damage fee is reasonable, but a little plastic wood and some paint would have done the job. Hotels shouldn't punish their guests

Laurie K.

Yelp
Adorable hotel right in the heart of Lewes, DE. Staff is very friendly and went above and beyond. Room and hotel are very clean and if you can get a room on the 4th floor that over looks the canal the view is great. Small fridge and snacks in the the room. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is there is not a lot of parking at the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay.
