This is a hotel with has bare minimum. I’m not sure how it was rated as a three star hotel. There is no couch, coffee maker, microwave or anything else normally provided by a regular 3 star hotel. The room has a narrow table, a plastic chair and the smallest refrigerator ever seen. It provides a piece of soap and a 2 in 1 shampoo, a few plastic cups. That’s it. The hotel does provide beach chairs and a small cooler but the cooler in our room is so dirty and old that we don’t want to touch it. No gym, no pool. There is a restaurant which provides decent food. The hotel advertises as "providing continental breakfast" but it’s really just a piece of bread and a cup of coffee. We were there during the busy holidays and I waited for half an hour to get my “breakfast”. Not worth it at all. The sheet on the bed seems to have been used millions of times. It looks very old. Our room was not cleaned well. Not sure it’s just us. There was hair in the sink. The surface of furniture was dirty. The worst was the shower curtain. There were lots of black molds on it. We talked to the front office lady. She seemed to be frustrated with the cleaning lady and called her back to clean up. The location is great. Quiet and walkable to downtown. Overall it’s quite disappointing for a three-star hotel in the price range of $250 - 300 per night. It’s more like a hostel style lodging with private rooms. As a follow up, the management refunded the total cost. It shows they care about the customers and have a high standard of their customer services, which I highly appreciate.

I had a really pleasant stay here! It's not the Ritz and that's OK. The simplicity of the whole set-up appealed to me. Close to the action, nice simple rooms and nice staff. What more can you want?

Excellent little inn in a perfect location - 5 minute walk to the beach bars and restaurant, 2 mins the the grocery store - but up above the noise of Cruz bay. Also great AC, and really excellent breakfast!

I highly recommend The Inn at Tamarind Court. Their people are helpful, honest, and considerate. And, the location in Cruz Bay is excellent. You can't go wrong with them. So I'm giving them a very strong review. Great place to stay for your St. John adventure.

The Inn at Tamarind Court is like a home away from home. We stayed 5 nights and just loved it! The restaurant and bar serve great food and drinks and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The rooms come with a small soft sided cooler and if you just go to the bar they’ll fill it with ice. There are also beach chairs available to use. Every morning if you go to the bar and ask for the continental breakfast it’s provided free of charge. While we were there it was fresh fruit and a biscuit/ sweet bread. We didn’t rent a jeep so I can’t speak to parking. Also free of charge is an early morning wake up call via a local rooster!!! We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Just back from a stay here and would be happy to return! We had a 3rd floor room with 2 twins. Rooms were comfy and clean, loved the high ceiling. AC and ceiling fans worked great. Included continental breakfast was good as was full breakfast. Very reasonable restaurant prices overall for St John. What we really loved were the extras that made it easy to hit the beach. The beach chairs, soft-sided coolers, snorkel gear were really appreciated. They’re happy to fill your cooler and water bottles with ice and water. This was our first time staying in Cruz Bay. Loved being able to walk from Inn to anywhere and not have to worry about parking and driving (especially after sunset beverages!). Thank you Tamarind!! Look forward to next visit.

Google
We took a girls trip to St.John for our 40th bdays! First time in St.John and staying at Tamarind Court! Cannot recommend this Inn enough! The staff are amazing, friendly and just love life and welcoming you to their home! We got the best recommendations for beaches and places to go and met the nicest Taxi driver William! 10/10 recommend staying here on your trip! Especially if you want that local feeling and hospitality!!

We have been coming to St John for many years and have walked by Tamarind Court Inn so many times noting the how busy the restaurant was and how close to town it was. We were able to stay this past week for a few nights. Let me tell you, we will be back! The room we had was very clean, very quiet, very comfortable and less than 10 minute walk to Cruz Bay Ferry Dock and waterfront restaurants. The queen size bed was very comfortable. Rooms have air conditioning however, with the ceiling fan, you really don’t even need it at night. The breakfasts served at the restaurant were extremely affordable and delicious! We highly recommend Tamarind Court Inn.

Yelp
Clean rooms consistently Stop blaming covid. Replace towels that are 20 years old. Complimentary breakfast coffee but ice coffee will cost more. No juice costs. 2 grapes 4 grape size melon pieces slice of orange small biscuit. So dark coming down ramp from second floor missed a step. Refrigerator not clean. Outside plastic chairs filthy. Beach chairs available wouldn't want to take to the beach etc etc

Yelp
A simple inn, with simple, basic rooms. There are beach chairs and a small soft side cooler for guests to use. Very near the ferry docks, shops and restaurants. There is also a small bar at the inn, also serving some food but we did not eat there. My concern is our room had obviously been smoked in, heavily, and on more than one occasion. Made it really hard to sleep there,.my clothes reeked of it when I got home.

Yelp
Stayed here for 4 nights during our trip to St. John, let me tell ya, SO worth it! Our room was renovated and everything was brand new. AC was cold and the refrigerator worked well for our beverages and some left over food. The restaurant on the courtyard was AMAZING! Probably half the price of all other restaurants in the area and it's just as good. My wife and I came here every morning for breakfast and had a cocktail at night before checking out the local restaurants. If we ever come back to St. John this is our place!

John R.

Yelp
No, this isn't The Westin. The rooms are average and bathrooms are dated. But, you get a lot of bang for not much $. Good Restaurant right in the Courtyard. I suggest go there morning and evening. Then a great little bakery/coffee shop right next door called Provisions. Clean, great AC, nice TV. 5 minute walk to all the major restaurants in Cruz Bay. Great location. Heck, I managed to foul up credit card totally and they could have been hunting me down, as I hadn't paid them. Very easy going and low stress to work with.

Sandra M.

Yelp
The service was horrible. We had to wait over an hour as they served multiple before us just because we ordered take out. Do recommend the food but the service is bad.

Kristen M.

Yelp
We love everything about this place. Stephanie (General Manager) is so friendly and accommodating. Best location in Cruz Bay for an affordable clean safe place to crash and shower and chill. Just a quick 5 minute walk to all the best restaurants bars and people watching! Highly recommend

Yelp
Love Tamarind- Great spot for an inexpensive breakfast. They always have specials and the courtyard is a great place to start your day. Every night they have "guest chefs" in from around island who do themed nights.. Friendly people and usually big yum for little money on St John, land of EXPENSIVE dining.

Yelp
Great place, close to the ferry and all the restaurants. This inn is literally 5 minute walk to the center of Cruz Bay; taxi stand, a school, shops, bars (2 to Woody's), a church, Connections, etc. A little back story- I had booked a different place on the island which was a hovel (that review to come) and had to get last minute accomodations....Stephani e, bartender/waitstaff/front desk staff/Christmas Angel was sooo incredibly helpful, she made it work and w/ a few room changes, I was able to stay at Tamarind the entire 14 night vacation.....all this on Christmas Eve- busiest time of the year!! There is a restaurant in the courtyard that has different fare most nights of the week, Pad-Thai, Greek, and Taco Tuesday among others. It is not a five star hotel by most standards, but it was clean and safe and convenient. If you want luxurious, go somewhere else- if you want a place to lay your head at night and take a hot shower for an incredibly reasonable price, the Tamarind is perfect. They have air-conditioned rooms and some have small fridges. FYI-There are not the hotels on St John you see on St Thomas, very limited- the Westin (huge $$) and Caneel Bay and Gallows Point (also big $$), Otherwise it's villas which can run thousands a week. Tamarind works well for couples as it is probably the most cost efficient. Some have felt it wasn't in a "good" section of St John- I was a single female traveler stayed for 14 days and had no issues whatsoever.

Yelp
Very well located with surprisingly good food. However, the Inn could perhaps best be described as "base model" accommodations. The rooms are utilitarian with no frills at all. You'd think that given the price they might at least rival a Holiday Inn, but you would be wrong. That said, it's one of the only well located reasonably priced places in St. John - so if you are just looking for a place to crash, it's a safe bet. The restaurant has great breakfasts too. Just beware the young waitress (there are only a few people who work there). She moves so slowly, she appears to move backwards through time.

Samuel M.

Yelp
If you are looking for HORRENDOUS service where you will be told by the waitstaff to "seat yourself" with the only 10 tables in the restaurant and wait for service to never appear well this is the place for you! I went with friends and waited over 20 minutes for service of ANY KIND to approach us but low and behold it was an EPIC FAILURE! 30 minutes later we decided to leave, apparently if the servers want to chill in a corner and post their business on twitter then more power to them! This place is terrible!

Jordan T.

Yelp
The Tamarind was very welcoming and hospitable. They had fresh towels for beach-going and complementary breakfast every morning with delicious sweet bread. The one bad thing about the Tamarind is the chickens and roosters, they'll keep you up or wake you up.

Kristin K.

Yelp
Excellent location, clean, comfortable room, hot shower, great wifi, cable tv, and room service. We borrowed 2 coolers to take to the beach. Free parking for guests. -1 star for not giving us a little refund due to having to leave on an earlier flight but that is their policy. Overall a great place to stay and the best deal on the Island! I would definitely come back and recommend this place. Best for couples, and over 30-aged travelers.

A K.

Yelp
reasonably location and price, along with commodities. a/c worked, had ceiling fan, hot water, room was clean and some tv/cable. restaurant was very good, fair priced. had a roof leak in room, although it did not diminish our stay. staff didnt seem too concerned with it when brought to their attention. aside from the normal island sounds (dogs, roosters, etc.), i would recommend this location for traveling visitors.

Yelp
We were flexible on dates but we wanted to spend one night on St. John, so we called here on a recommendation. They had one night open between other reservations, so it worked for us! Like other reviews said, room is basic but clean, what more do you need on the island? We had a car, the parking lot in back was convenient and you can walk downtown so it's a great place to stay if you want to be someplace where you don't have to drive. We needed gas in the car so we asked the waitress and she gave us good directions. Later, she was there when we came back after dinner and stopped in for a drink, good service and good drinks. We had a couple desserts and when we ordered pie, we wondered why it took like 5 minutes. It came out presented really well and it tasted great. Surprisingly good and not just store-bought pie slapped on a plate. That made us decide to have breakfast here in the morning. It was a good move. We discovered that my wife's continental breakfast was included with the room and I had biscuits and gravy, which was great. They gave us some ice for the cooler and we were on our way. This is not a resort, it's a clean and convenient place to stay in the middle of town with a good bar and restaurant attached. Service in the evening and at breakfast was prompt and attentive. We will stay here again. We'll have dinner here next time, too!

Yelp
Listen folks, if you need tons of fluff and plan on spending a lot of time in your room while in St. John (not sure why you would) this may not be the place for you, however if you want an extra couple thousand dollars to spend on sight seeing tours, rum cocktails, amazing dinners and great things to take home with you, and you need a clean, no nonsense, place to sleep and shower and get back out there, this is nirvana! They have snorkel masks and flippers, beach chairs and towels, and coolers they happily allow their guests to use for free on get this...the honor system! We had a great breakfast there each morning, its in town so you can easily launch your day from there and unwind at night with a cocktail and some tube in your air conditioned room or at the bar...no massage therapists...no yoga classes...just clean, friendly and efficient. I loved my stay and all the great people who work with Stephanie. Thank you for keeping it real and allowing us regular folk to enjoy this tropical paradise! I'll be back soon!

Yelp
We are big fans of the Tamarind. Perfectly located budget minded inn with the best breakfast anywhere! Better yet is the Monday night Greek nights - A real Greek cook that comes up with creations that make you think you're in the Greek isles! I've had a lot of baklava, but this one is good with just the right amount of honey.
