Inn at Thorn Hill (Jackson, New Hampshire) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Inn at Thorn Hill, a luxury hotel and spa in the woods of northern New Hampshire, is nothing if not relaxing. Each of the suites and rooms of the main building has its own unique style and layout, but all feature two-person whirlpool bathtubs and gas fireplaces. Guests in need of more space and privacy may also choose from a pair of charming independent cottages, while a larger group may prefer the historic carriage house, adjacent to the main building, whose six rooms can accommodate up to twelve guests. The spa provides a sauna as well as a generous menu of beauty treatments, while the hotel’s Dining Room serves upscale American cuisine, alongside a tavern with a fantastic selection of classic cocktails, wines, and draft beers." - Tablet Hotels

We have been visiting the Inn at Thorn Hill a few times a year for about four years now. All the rooms have jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces, but every room is different so it’s like staying somewhere new every time. Our favorite thing about the inn is the people who work here. We get to know them a little more with each visit, and now it feels like we are staying in someone’s home. The included breakfast is great! We are always happy to see Sherri, David and Niklas there year after year. They’re incredibly friendly and provide top-notch service at breakfast, and they’ve really become like old friends to us. On our last visit, while dining at the Shovel Handle Pub (appears to be same owners and food was excellent), Sherri was working there as well, and we had the pleasure of meeting her husband Jerry. He had the same warm demeanor and was happy to answer all of our questions about the properties and the area. The inn is in an excellent location with great scenery and with plenty to do nearby. Amy at the front desk is always extremely kind and such a great help if we have any questions about where to go or what to do. She knows so much about the area well beyond what you’ll find in the maps and brochures and is very generous sharing her time and knowledge. The property itself is wonderful, but it’s the people who really make it feel so warm and inviting and set it apart from other inns in the area. We’ve had nothing but positive interactions with the staff at front desk, dining room, housekeeping and the owner that we met. We will always be back again!

A Hidden Gem in the White Mountains!|Our stay at the Thornhill Inn in Jackson, NH far exceeded all expectations. The building itself is full of classic charm, with that warm, old mountain inn feel that makes you instantly feel at home. Our room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and had just the right blend of rustic character and modern comfort.|The bed? Incredibly comfortable — easily one of the best we've experienced in any hotel. Loved the Jacuzzi tub!! A cooked to order breakfast came with the room and the food was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious! ||What really set this place apart was the staff. The level of service truly felt like something you'd find at a Four Seasons, yet with the warmth and personal touch of a family-run inn. Every interaction was genuine and welcoming.|We left feeling completely refreshed and already looking forward to our next visit. We'll definitely be returning next year — and recommending Thornhill Inn to friends and family in the meantime!

We had a 1 night stay at the Inn at Thorn Hill & Spa this week and the experience was wonderful! I had read the reviews online before booking and it seemed like a great place and the price for Thurs - Fri stay was reasonable. The room was beautiful and there was a personalized note in the room welcoming us along with bath robes and slippers. I was worried that the room would be a bit small but it was just the right size for 2 people, and we loved the jacuzzi tub! We had dinner at the Forty at Thorn hill restaurant and the food was amazing, kudos to the chefs! We also had complimentary breakfast the next morning and while the waitress that seated us came off a bit rude, our actual waitress was really nice and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious, another great meal! We love this place and the atmosphere and look forward to returning soon!

This was the perfect venue for our anniversary celebration. The spectacular view of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains was breathtaking. The room was spacious, with lovely decor, a comfy bed, and a two-person jetted soaking tub with a separate glass shower. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and a discussion of the inn’s amenities. The inn partners either Christmas Farm Inn’s Aveda Soa for treatments and swimming if you wish. We found dark chocolate truffles and a thoughtful card upon entering our room which was very thoughtful. There were complimentary photo postcards on the desk, a wine bottle opener, and everything else you could ask for in an upscale inn. The in-house restaurant provides a traditional dining room and dinner on the porch which was our choice. The menu is ample with locally sourced items. There is a pianist Saturday evenings and fun sing-alongside with guests. The food was excellent. Our entire experience was beyond our expectations. We were only sorry that we hadn’t planned a longer stay! The Inn at Thorn Hill was the perfect setting for a quaint serene romantic couples refresh with a view worthy of a scene out of a Hallmark movie.

We stayed at this beautiful inn about a year ago and since then they’ve done major upgrades to the property and all the rooms have been tastefully decorated. It was a beautiful evening. We also booked dinner and sat out on the porch with a beautiful view of the mountains forest and the lovely fields outback. Also got to see deer and bears. The staff are fantastic and a big shout out to Nancy, Montana, Amy, and the rest of the team for making our stay very special One. This will be our go to from now on and it’s just a short walk down to the village where you can find other restaurants and places to visit. But quite honestly there’s no reason to leave this resort. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Thanks again to the team for making our stay a very memorable one. Paul.

We had a wonderful time at The Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson, New Hampshire. The service here is always top-notch and consistent. James, behind the bar, makes the best cosmos I’ve ever had – truly exceptional! Our servers Shannon, David, Anthony, Niklas, and Liam were all incredibly friendly and attentive, making every meal feel special. We also want to give a big thank you to Sherri, Linda, Rene, Lilly, Amy, and Nancy, who were just as warm and welcoming and helped make our stay even more memorable. From the exceptional hospitality to the cozy, charming atmosphere, everything exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend visiting The Inn at Thorn Hill – it’s a gem in the heart of the White Mountains!

This is a special place for us that never disappoints. We made our first visit to the Inn 14 or 15 years ago and make it a point to come back at least once a year - although it's a seven hour drive to get there. Every room we have stayed in has been charming and all the little touches (afternoon tea and cookies, a personalized welcome note and chocolates in the room) make a beautiful place even more special. We have to mention Nancy whose warm greeting after a long drive has been consistent over the years- she is always there to make sure everything is running smoothly and help with any questions or concerns.

Yelp
Complete and total transparencyh. I have never stayed here. My parents, aged 83 and 81, however, are frequent guests. Who love to travel. And they cannot stop ravingabout the place. What spurned me to write this review waswhat happened today. My parents left on Sunday (yesterday) for what was supposed to be a two-night stay. My dad suffered a fall which led to a bit of an injury. From his account, the staff was incredibly kindand supportive andattentive and just genuinely very caring. This reviewdoesn't tell you much probably about the tangible stuff you typically see. But what it should tell you is about the intangible things: that when you are here, it is truly your home away from home. And they really do care. That, to me, is more important than just about anything. It shouldbe to you aswell.

Yelp
This is probably the best Inn we have ever stayed in. The accommodations, food, staff were second to none. Looking for a great weekend or vacation? This is the place to go! Would highly recommend. Dave/Lisa

Yelp
I reviewed this inn 10 years ago and gave it 5 stars. A lot has changed not all good. Still a beautiful building in a scenic spot. Doesn't really overlook the White Mountains--see them in the distance. Nice reception with a glass of sparkling wine. On our last visit we were given a tour and taken to our room. Not this time. Comfortable room, gas fireplace, Queen bed. Jacuzzi in the large bathroom and a 'steam shower' with no instructions on how to use it. At $470 for the room, one would expect at least an in-room coffee/tea service. None. View of the White Mountains limited, obscured by trees, and overlooks the roof. Breakfast was very disappointing. We were given a time of 9:30 am. We arrived on time. After 40 minutes I enquired where our food was to two of the staff. Very brusque reply (near rude) that they '...only had one chef and he was very busy.' ?? Only 2 other tables with patrons besides us were being served. I found it also curious that if you wanted 'extras' with your breakfast like extra bacon or sides, you needed to 'upgrade' the basic $25 cost (i.e., pay more). High point was dinner the night before (separate review). This was not the same Inn that we visited in 2015.

Yelp
The Inn at Thorn Hill is my go-to place in Jackson for a high-end dinner. Yes, you are going to lay out some money, but it is sooooo worth it. Last time I went I sat at the bar and just enjoyed myself. I asked the bar tender for a Woodford Reserve old fashion and boy did he do me right. I couldn't decide so I asked for suggestions and I am glad I did. He started me off with the Jamaican Jerk Seared Scallops served over a pineapple mango salsa. There were two large scallops and I could have eaten a plate full - just wonderful for an appetizer. He followed up with the Dick Breast which is sous vide first and then pan seared to a beautiful medium rare with a delicious roasted sweet potato has and what they said was a lingonberry sauce. Now I have no idea what a lingonberry sauce is, but it is AWESOME! He suggested pairing it with an Argentina Malbec which at $12 was the best $12 glass a wine I have ever had. Thank you for your suggestions! The place gets crowded on weekends and vacations so I strongly suggest a reservation. Be prepared to pay, but for meal that is more than worth it. We will be back!

Yelp
We booked the senses Unison experience, one of our scheduled therapist called out and the manager offered us to split into two sessions one after the other. After my husband's lackluster massage I was told they couldn't do my massage and maybe I could come back later. We had structured a good part of our vacation around this experience and it was entirely disappointing. No stretching, no meditation, no massage for me. The therapist didn't listen to my husband's requests at all. I'm surprised they are one of the top rated spas in the area. Oh, after I caught up with the manager she offered a $120 refund on a $275 charge. Very unhappy.

Yelp
This is a review of the restaurant only over several visits. I always try to give a restaurant a second chance if they are not too great the first time. The first fiasco was when I took visiting Canadian friends to dinner there and they both ordered the special - roast beef dinners. It was awful. The meat was tough and fatty and was basically inedible. The vegetables were cold too. It was embarrassing to say the least. My guests were polite and tried their best not to upset me. The second disaster was on a New Year's Eve when they ran out of flatware, and we were asked to wipe off our forks and reuse them for the next course. I just licked mine. The worst part of the "celebration" was the Wagyu strak which I was looking forward to. It was served well done and covered with a suspicious looking brown sauce. I could not tell what it was! Our waitress forgot the salad and when we asked about it, she brought it as a second dessert. "Not too bad" overall for starting the New Year!!!!!! To be totally fair, we were guests at a dinner party a couple of years ago, and it was very good.

Yelp
It was my partner's birthday and I was looking for something/someplace special to go for dinner. We had been enjoying our long weekend of hiking, sightseeing, and fun touristy things, wanted a local setting to cap off the trip. What a fun place. The house/hotel/restaurant is the perfect setting in Jackson, NH. Thought it would be small, but very roomy when you get inside. The check-in station is a little hidden past the bar, but there is someone there waiting. We have a little confusion on getting our table, but I think having to wear masks, the hostess did not hear what I was saying. They have indoor and outdoor (plastic walls) seating, so you can enjoy either setting. The staff was very friendly and helpful and attentive. Made for a nice evening dinner. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday, so it was perfect for our dinner. The food was really good. The pumpkin soup, caught me off guard as it looked more like custard, but was very tasty. Savory, with just a hint of sweetness from the pumpkin. I liked it. For dinner, I could have used less oil with my salmon, but it was tasty none the same. My partner had the rack of ribs (mini) and really enjoyed them. We had a nice evening and were able to learn a bit about how to reserve the Wine Cellar for special events. Sounds like we will be back. Thank you

Yelp
Well, it's very pretty. The food was just okay. Swell bartender named Warren who was very nice. I ordered truffle fries with my $46.00 tenderloin sandwich which again, was just okay... and they came out nicely sea salted but no truffle anywhere. If you've ever ordered truffle fries, you can't mistake the smell of truffle oil, truffle salt - its pungent - unmistakable smell and taste. Warren took the fries back and the "chef" sent them back with more salt, still no truffle. "Chef" argued that they were truffle fries because it was allegedly truffle salt. AGAIN, Weird flex "chef" because no, it's not truffle salt (that's just plain old sea salt so, why are you arguing? $46.00 sandwich. My friend got a burger which started out as a 21.00 burger. Warren asked if they'd like bacon, cheese and tomato jam. They said yes and it was a 12.00 upcharge... Good Lord, this place has a lot of nerve. In the end, we had two cocktails each and the sandwiches and our bill was $155.00. Never again, "Chef". I'd like this review to stay up as a warning to anyone thinking about coming here so I'll control myself and not describe where you can shove your truffle fries.

Yelp
Great foot and atmosphere! Ate on porch that was great and was surprised that later that we would be treated to the Labor Day Fireworks show. The only issue was the server who seemed to not interested in serving use or other guests . We waited over an hour for our appetizer to arrive cold but it was good but she never approached us to ask if everything was fine. The rest of the meal did arrive in a timely manner, but she was gone and lost till I finally got her to get my check. Good food that is ruined by poor service. Hope you're lucky not to get this beauty of a server!

Yelp
The Inn at Thorn Hill continues to provide top notch accommodations as well as service and dining options. We have been coming here for about 10 years and we never leave disappointed. Most of the staff has been here for as long as we have been coming and that is exactly why the quality and consistency remains as 5 star. These people are truly professionals and they have a deep sense of pride in the inn and their R&R here. In a time where it is so challenging to hire and maintain help, it seems that Thorn Hill has figured it out. Yes, it's on the pricy side, but you absolutely get what you pay for. From check in to check out the experience is memorable, with attention to every detail. There are so many nice personal touches offered here that are unique....from tea service delivered to your room, to special recognition for events like anniversaries and birthdays. Thanks to Nancy, Sheri, Niklas, Meghan and so many others for making this anniversary trip memorable!

Yelp
Another wonderful mini vacation at this beautiful inn. This Inn is the place to relax and enjoy the view of Mt Washington from the spacious wrap around porch. The rooms are uniquely decorated and clean. The meals are fantastic- Belgian waffles are like no other. For dinner- well you can't go wrong, duck, chicken, beef tenderloin or scallop- you won't be disappointed. We enjoyed a wonderful massage in the spa- it was a great way to start the day. This Inn would not be as welcoming if not for the staff - special Thanks to Nancy!

Yelp
We've stayed here several times and love it. I only rate restaurants though so here you go! Reservations recommended! We had a really nice dinner of short ribs and salmon. Both entrees were perfect. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were huge and super fresh. Goat cheese salad (sans red onion) delicious. They certainly didn't skimp on our beverages either. Creme brûlée was the largest I've ever seen, almost too much. The torte also almost too sweet. But! I'd order it all again exactly the same way.

Yelp
My favorite New England inn. Breathtaking views on the porch and from the dining room. Friendly service. Steve, one of the owners, took the time to show me pictures he had taken of the wildlife in the area. The breakfast is particularly good, lots of options and two specials everyday. I had three egg omelets with roasted potatoes. Great before a day of hiking. The lounge/dining room is a nice spot to relax in the evening. Lots of games and puzzles around if you want to have a quiet night. There is a spa with a sauna and lounge for guests to use. The rooms have huge jacuzzis. Location is great for hiking, exploring the White Mountains. Overall a place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet. Will be back!

Yelp
My wife and I made a return visit to this wonderful Inn being there once before approximately seven years ago. It was just as we remembered it, with beautiful and period décor as well as classic and comfortable furnishings all with modern amenities. When we arrived we were greeted and immediately checked in. The first time we had visited was during the fall and had a room on the second floor in which the fireplace in the room was very much appreciated. This time being summer, it was the opposite and we had the Stanford White room on the third floor. Our concern was not the warmth of the room but the coolness of the room. When we entered our room, the central AC was on and there was also a window air conditioner running. The room was very comfortable temperature wise and remained that way during our stay. A little critique, there should be a shade on the window and not drapes, because you can't close the drapes with the AC running. The Stanford White room was very spacious with a king size bed, a wet bar with refrigerator, a gas fireplace, a walk in closet and a very large bathroom, complete with a double vanity, a large shower and a two person whirlpool. The bed was very comfortable and there was a flat screen TV above the fireplace. The period décor and furniture are similar in theme as the rest of the Inn. Dining in the attached restaurant was by reservation (they asked when making your room reservation and again upon check-in) which allowed them to space out and limit the number of diners during these times. You had the option of eating indoors our outside on their spacious porch overlooking the property and the mountains. Just about everyone chose to eat outside as the weather was just perfect. The breakfast menu included the usual breakfast fare from eggs to pancakes and waffles with bacon or sausage. Included with your breakfast is juice, a fruit parfait and either coffee or tea. The blueberry pancakes and Belgian waffles were amazing. They had a slight sugary crispness to them, yet they were very fluffy. The dinner menu was adequate but I wish it had a little more variety. The food overall was very good. I also would like to mention that the servers at breakfast were probably the happiest and attentive servers I have ever had. They made sure your coffee cup was always filled and only poured fresh hot coffee. In addition they cheerfully checked to make sure you were satisfied. You felt as though they truly loved serving you. Any venue that serves breakfast should study their service acumen and duplicate that for their establishment. As far as the Covid 19 issues, we felt there were none. Everyone wore a mask when walking inside and tables were spaced at least six feet apart from each other in the restaurant. The inside of the Inn was spotless and meticulously clean. In addition the room was very clean and I was hard pressed to find anything that wasn't clean from the ceiling, to the window sills to the floors and everything else in between. Kudos to the housekeeping staff. In essence it wasn't just the accommodations but the people that make this such a great place to stay. All in all we had a wonderful time and look forward to returning again someday.

Yelp
Just got back from a relaxing weekend nice clean rooms amazing restaraunt and bar and a very friendly staff. We would definitely recommend you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday weekend. It was absolutely lovely! The women who checked us in was an absolute gem. Prosecco upon check in and an offered tea service that night. The personal touches were what made this place so special. We only reserved one night and when we tried to extend our stay they were already booked up which was unfortunate for us because none of the other resorts could even come close. Next time we visit the Jackson area, this will be the only place we stay

Yelp
I was invited by an old dear friend and her husband. The Inn is charming, the service was unbelievable and attentive!! The food I cannot rave about more. We had scallops and pork chop!!! I love it here!!!!

Yelp
My fiancé and I chose this inn after two years of not getting a weekend away, hoping from the photos it would be a luxurious and quiet getaway with good food. We have been to many many B&B's and Inns so we thought we'd try a new one. We called ahead to see if they would have a two day jacuzzi room for us, and were told they had one room available although we'd have to switch to another room the second day- that was fine with us. Unfortunately that was not the case. Our first initial impression was good, the outside was a big beautiful Victorian and the hostess that greeted us was welcoming, kind and attentive ( I wish I remembered her name).. until we asked which room we had for the second night and she said she only had us down for one night. She said she'd look into it and ended up booking us a suite. We went to our room and the photos show what we found, along with hair on the pillowcases. Our hostess kindly got us a few new pillows. We were very unimpressed with the lumpy pillows and hard coil mattress with no topper. For over $300 a night we expected the room to be immaculate and comfortable. We did make reservations for dinner at their restaurant downstairs and the food was pretty good, maybe lacking seasoning and overpriced but it was decent. Drinks were strong but not strong enough to drowned out the extreme amount of noise the hollow walls carried when trying to sleep! We were both up until 1am continually getting woken up by the banging of people above us and hearing yelling from the downstairs, to say the walls were paper thin would be accurate. We were looking forward to coffee after a restless sleepless night in the morning, but were greatly disappointed when what we thought was coffee turned out to be coffee flavored water. At breakfast, they had lattes and espresso on the menu- I thought " great! That'll be just the thing to wake me up" and requested one from our waitress Erin, she quickly laughed and said " nope, no lattes", I asked her why not ( thinking her dismissive attitude was strange) and she replied " it's broken, at least we think, and that's fine with us because taking 5 minutes to make one beverage is way too much time so when it's broken we don't care to fix it!" I was appalled at her answer in basically saying that my request for a latte was far too inconvenient for her ( they weren't even busy, 3 other tables maybe)! Both me and my fiancé were upset at her attitude and reply. She was very brass the rest of breakfast so we quickly ate and asked for the nearest coffee shop- which was fantastic btw. After breakfast we asked the new hostess when our room would be ready since checkout was 11 and she told us she'd have the housekeeper clean it first so we could transfer our belongings right over. We left to get coffee and explore and came back 2 hours later right before check out and the hostess told us we needed to be out of our current room and our second room wasn't even close to being finished with a scoff. She was incredibly rude about it and asked a second time when I came down the stairs with my bag when we'd be out and where the key was ( it was 10:30). At that point with all the negatives adding up and the rude staff we decided there was no way we were staying another night, and turned our key in and left. I absolutely would not recommend this Inn if you're looking for a friendly quiet getaway with good coffee and food, Instead I HIGHLY recommend Ellis River Inn right down the road or The Lake house at Ferry Point further south.

Yelp
Wonderful birthday dinner. I had panseared scallops, hubs had the pork chops. Key lime pie was my dessert. Everything was perfect. Gina, the server, was attentive and pleasant.

Yelp
We stayed at the inn for this Labor Day weekend. Absolutely blown away, friendly staff clean rooms and amazing breakfast with great local options. Tea service at night, and everything you could ever want or need was offered in the room, and if it wasn't the front desk likely had it. We got off to a rocky start at check in, the building was dealing with some alarm issues, but they were quickly resolved, and the receptionist gave us glasses of Prosecco for the wait! 10/10 great couples getaway close to amazing spots, amazing views and just an all around nice place to get away. Great spot for couple

Yelp
This was a honeymoon gift for us from my father who loved this last stay. We loved the area, the views from the deck were great. the beds were comfy and the in room two person bathtub was great. We ate breakfast with them three days. And dinner one night. The food was great and the staff was friendly. We will definitely be to stay with them agin.

Yelp
The Inn at Thorn Hill's Restaurant -Forty at Thorn Hill, was a superb dinner choice. Simply said, the herb roasted half chicken was the best tasting chicken dinner I've ever consumed! This included my several trip to the south. My wife felt the same about the duck ( two ways). We ate at the Tavern and the chief stopped over to ask how we were enjoying ourselves. He appreciated our compliments. He really did a marvelous job !

Yelp
My fiancé and I went up to The Inn at Thorn Hill for a romantic Valentine's Day getaway! We enjoyed all the lovely amenities this New England Inn had to offer with its romantic fireplace and the two person jacuzzi spa tub. The Inn is a great location for skiers 4 mountains all within 15 mins of the Inn! One being just 5 minutes up the road. We ended up staying 3 nights in 3 different rooms. After a little mix up upon arrival for our two night stay we had to switch rooms with a guests that was given the wrong key and was already settled in the room we booked. We stayed in the Bookmead Suite the first night, the Stanford White the second, and the Jackson the third. The Stanford white was definitely our favorite and wish we could have spent more time in that room. The only negative thing I have to say is we wish we didn't have to pack up everyone morning and to change rooms. Also a let down was when I went to see if they had any rooms left for the next night as we decided to stay in the area as a storm was coming in. They had one room left at $260 I asked if they had a discount for staying 3 nights unfortunately they did not. I decided to just go for it then to lug all our stuff to another Inn.... plus we were enjoying our stay. We got the Jackson room and it was probably the less glamorous out of all the room we had stayed in with a higher price tag unfortunately. It was a bit on the small side, and the description said king size bed, but it was two twin beds pushed together which was very uncomfortable with the gap in the middle of the bed. On a positive note the breakfast included every day was beyond expectation, and the dining area very nice and warm with the fireplace and view of the presidential range. Beside our last night stay being disappointing everything was perfect and everyone was very accommodating from front desk to the restaurant! We will definitively come back to the Inn and we highly recommend it.

Yelp
This review is just for the massage at the day spa in this inn. I routinely get massages so at a hefty price of $210 excluding tip for a couples massage, I just have to say that I've experienced massages that were leaps and bounds better than what I got here. The ladies that took care of us were very sociable and friendly but at the end of the day, it's about the quality of the massage. I work on the computer most of the day and run quite frequently so I was looking forward to this for some time. Needless to say, it's easy to spot the knots on me and with most other massage therapists, they know instantly where and how to work them off of me as soon as they start. Unfortunately, that didn't happen this time. It was a lot of massage oil lathered up and down my back until the session was over and none of the tense muscles I mentioned really had any relief.

Yelp
Ate here for dinner Saturday night. Beautiful Inn with a great setup for outside dining on the deck. Not sure what happened but I can say I was really disappointed with the evening from start to finish. Service was slow to non-existent and have to think it was something we must have done to upset our server. I watched 3 tables get seated after us and all be finishing desert before we were finally served our dinner. When it came out it was cold and overcooked. I have to think this was just a one-off experience but for the price I can't say I'll risk going back.

Yelp
My husband and I spent two nights at the Inn during the summer season. It is a lovely inn with a gorgeous view of the mountains, surrounded by trees. From the moment we arrived, we were treated royally by Sherri! She was happy to let us check in an hour early, to show us around the Inn and to teach us how to use the vintage elevator. Due to the heat wave, the a/c went out temporarily on the 3rd floor, so Sherri moved us to the Mount Washington suite. It was soooooo nice! We thought our original room (the Sanford White) was nice, but the bay windows and view in this room could not be beat!! I also took advantage of the spa and enjoyed a lovely massage. Breakfast was included in our rate each morning, and Sherri and her mom, Linda, made sure we were spoiled with everything we could possibly want or need. It was nice dining on the patio, as we saw a black bear running through the yard, and a woodchuck and a pretty blue jay. I cannot recommend the Inn enough and can't wait to return!

Yelp
Just visited again! Comfortable social atmosphere with wonderful accommodations, food and beverage. Certainly one of our favorite places for a quick get-a-way.

Yelp
Fantastic experience staying here this past weekend for my birthday getaway from the city. Off season so it was pretty quiet, but we were greeted by the manager and taken on a little tour of the inn before being shown to our room. The inn itself is beautiful and cozy without feeling too antique. Awesome seating area near the bar where we had fantastic cocktails both nights, with one of the bar tenders custom making us Irish coffees off menu when we asked. All the service from the front desk to the servers are breakfast was top notch. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and huge portions. Our room was huge (gray manor), and had a great view of the mountains the woods. Awesome to have a fireplace for the cold nights, and many lights were on dimmer switches for mood lighting. Best part of the whole place for us was the huge jacuzzi tub in our bathroom! Spent both evenings for almost an hour in there with some wine and jazz. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner and cocktails tonite at the Thorn Hill Inn. I ordered a special drink that was not on their menu. The bartender Warren made it and it was exquisite. Our appetizer- the Avocado Flat bread was light- flavorful and delicious. Very few places can get the app right. Leave you still hungry for the entree. It was perfectly balanced and savory. We ordered the surf n turf and their special- a Mahi dinner with pineapple chutney salsa. Hands down. The absolute best we have ever had. The portions were perfect. We had room for app dinner and dessert( creme brûlée and brownie sundae) I would highly recommend the Inn for any dinner. Special or just date night. The service was impeccable. The Inn owners are on site and personable. The dining was exquisite. We will most definitely return. We are locals. This was our first visit to the Inn. Shannan & Lauren Budde

Yelp
We recieved an email regarding this place becoming "sister property " to The Christmas Farm In, where we had been before. (or the Christmas Farm Inn was becoming the sister property, I forget which!!) Tried for my husband's birthday 3/2023. It was fantastic!! Beautiful rooms , lots of spaces to unwind with fireplaces and comfy chairs. The food was exceptional for both dinner and breakfast. I myself am a hospitality professional of over 30 years and I was amazed by the level of service in the dining room! Megan was our dinner server, a lovely young woman, very engaging without being intrusive. David was our breafast server, also engaging without being intrusive. Linda was the hostess, very pleasant . Everyone wished my husband Happy birthday, it was noted everywhere that it was our reason for staying. I must say that Nacy Kelly is the embodiment of the word "innkeeper" . She made our stay all the more enjoyable!! We loved, loved the complimentary tea service each evening!! Very relaxing and the cookies were simply awesome!! Our stay was during a snowstorm, and snow removal was the most efficient we had ever seen. We plan on going back for my birthday in September 2023

Yelp
What an amazing way to spend a weekend up north. The inn was everything I had anticipated and more. The rooms were quaint and cozy. The restaurant and staff were on point! Out first night at the inn we stayed on site and had a great time! The bar tender Scamp greeted us with charm and graciousness. The night only got better as we met other couples and closed the bar down with our new friends. Besides our fun first night, we were continued to be impressed. The inn offers a quiet and homey atmosphere throughout the stay. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a few day get away. It makes you forget the hustle bustle of everyday life.

Yelp
We went for dinner and had an amazing meal . We learned they have a new chef and he is doing an great job! Very innovative entrees and appetizers. We shared a duck sausage appetizer which was very good. I had a braised short rib which was also good but the best was the pork chop with clams and beans! It sounded very unusual but it was fantastic. It was presented as a perfectly cooked pork chop with black beans and carrots and about 4 clams on top in a soy sauce . Fantastic!

Yelp
The bed and breakfast is amazing. We went for spa treatments which were excellent as well. They are very accommodating of allergies. Depending on the rooms you can either have s bigger room with views of the parking lot of a smaller room with views of the mountains. They always run packages during the week and weekend, sign up for one it's well worth it. You get breakfast and dinner out of it. I do not know who the chef is but the food is amazing. The town of Jackson is beautiful as well. Don't forget to stop by the free library, honeymoon bridge and Jackson falls while you are up here.

Yelp
My family of 13 had a dinner reservation on Christmas Day. We had a private room with an extra fee booked months in advance and a prix fixe menu price. Upon arriving it took 45 min to confirm that they would honor the prix fixe and we sat without drinks for that time. We had one server for 13 people, in a room on a different floor from the kitchen. The first course came out about 2 hours after we sat. The starters were hot and were pretty good. The main course was served after 9pm. We sat at 6:15. All entrees were cold. The ham dish was fine, nothing special. The chicken Marsala ravioli was awful. It was a bone in chicken thigh which was tough and over done. The beef Wellington was fine but cold. One person got a 1/2 inch thick, tough piece of steak. The tiramisu had chunks of gelatin in it and was not edible. Overall it was a terrible experience. I am a trained pastry chef and would never send something with seized gelatin out to a table. It made the filling chunky and rubbery. I have worked in fine dining and well run kitchens. This is not how it is supposed to go. If you don't want to give good food and service on Christmas, don't take the reservation.

Yelp
I took my wife there for her birthday. It was very slow yet it took 2 1/2 hours to get out of there. We sent most of the time just sitting there hoping food would come out. I havnt been there in years and found out the inn sold. Oh you can tell. No more outside the box gourmet food. Here the kicker. I mentioned Trump to the waitress anf she wouldn't speak to us the rest of the night. Didnt even ask how's the meal. If you like Trump. Like 1/2 the country dont go there.

Yelp
Lovely bed and breakfast with everything you need for a perfect weekend getaway. Breakfast cooked to order each morning and afternoon tea and pastries. The lounge is beautifully decorated and the rocking chairs on the wraparound porch are the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view. Most of the rooms are named after the surround mountains, we stayed it Mt Madison and it was wonderful- big TV over a fireplace, jacuzzi tub and steam shower, topped off with mountain views. The staff were all genuinely nice and always ready to help or answer any questions.

Yelp
This review is in regard to the restaurant only, not the rooms. We ate dinner here one evening during our stay in Jackson. While it might be the nicest place to eat in town, I wonder if that's sort of a self-limiting compliment. It's a pretty small town. The food itself was okay; nothing remarkable. However, they charged $30 for a piece of grouper that was perhaps 3 ounces. What!? And $8 for a sliver of creme brulee and some sorbet? Seriously? What? I am agog. The waitress also corrected my eating habits by telling me to eat my amuse bouche with my fork. The amuse was a piece of salmon on a cracker. But the waitress saying, "Oh honey, that's what that little fork is for" re-he-he-heally rubbed me the wrong way. Food on a cracker = fingers. Waitress = not telling someone how to eat. I am agog, again. Edit: Hmmm. As to the response from the business owner, apparently they think we were guests at their hotel. We were not. We went to eat there because we had heard such good things about it. We have eaten at fine dining restaurants all around the country, and in several other countries as well. We are always looking for a gem. This was the first restaurant I had ever been to where a server took it upon him- or herself to (incorrectly!) correct the way I ate. Between that, the outrageous prices, and the carefully crafted non-apology from the owner that somehow seems to indicate a flaw on my own part for not appreciating fine cuisine (which is what we went there for), I'm downgrading a star.

Yelp
My husband and I received a gift certificate to The Inn At Thorn Hill for a wedding gift and we went for a nice long ski weekend this past February. When we arrived the staff was very friendly and attentive. We stayed in the Tuckerman's suite and, at first glance, it seemed like perfection. There was a sitting room and a bedroom with a glass encased gas fireplace separating the two rooms. Very romantic! The bathroom is the star of the show, huge jacuzzi tub and the bathroom itself was a big luxurious room. If you scratch too far beneath the surface at this inn you are going to find its flaws. Immediately after we checked in we went out for a day of skiing. When we returned with all of our ski gear in tow we sort of felt like fish out of water. It seemed that, during our visit anyway, that there was a bunch of non-skiers staying there. They were all drinking tea in the sitting room and when we came clomping in our snow pants and with our ski boots over our shoulders, it was like the needle scratched across the record. Crickets. I was SO looking forward to a bath in the colossal tub. I peeled off my ski pants and slid my self into the robe that was provided in the room. *sniff* *sniff* Do I smell? No it was the robe. The robe smelled of BO. I nearly barfed. OK I am pretty forgiving. I took the robe downstairs and exchanged it for another that was fine. Onward. Time to enjoy my bath. The bath was AWESOME. But then the door to our room wouldn't shut and we were afraid to leave since we had all of our things in there. We went down to the lobby while they tried to fix it but when we returned it still wouldn't shut properly. 20 minutes or so of the facilities lady slamming the crap out of the door and it was finally fixed. Another AWESOME bath. The inn is really nice but there are major chinks in the armor. Moving on to the spa. My husband and I each had a hot stone massage and they were excellent. The spa staff know what they are doing and the massages were top notch. The spa was clean and soothing. The restaurant is a whole 'nother story. The food was good but by no means bowl you over amazing. The menu was pretentious and the service was god-awful. The table next to us waited so long for service that we offered them some of our bread. Our waiter was great up until dessert when he was apparently abducted by aliens. We waited for dessert for 20 minutes before we finally went looking for someone to at least give us the check. We opted out of dinner for night number 2 and ate at the Shovel Handle. In short there are awesome things about the IATH and there are really bad things. Maybe we just caught them on an off day. I'd go back and give it another go.

Yelp
This place is great, but: - the music constantly playing in the restaurant is a nightmare. This morning: Sirius XM Coffeehouse, complete with ads every few minutes. Loudly. - why are the fireplaces never burning? It's in the 30s outside! - coffee. It's diner coffee. First wave. Some good strong second wave peets-type coffee with an actual caffeine effect would be a huge improvement. - food: there are a lot of vegetarians in the world. The veggie offerings should be expanded. Room is great, staff very nice, location can't be beat.

Yelp
My husband and i, with another couple spent 3 nights at the Inn at Thorn Hill & Spa. Overall we found the place to be lovely. We stopped for dinner on our way into town which delayed our checking in. The management of the Inn called us to confirm our arrival. The staff is very good but the Inn seems to keep only the necessary staff at any given time. The rooms in the main building are spacious and up-to-date, our friends stayed there, we had a cottage which was very comfortable but a bid worn, could use some updating. We choose the cottage so we could have a place to hang out with our friends for the evening after dinner. The entire Inn is kept very neat and orderly. We had breakfast each morning on the porch, it was included in our room rate. This is a beautiful setting but the breakfast food could stand some improvement, overcooked eggs and tasteless pancakes. The dinner we had there was very good, we really enjoyed the meal. They have a newer (young) chef whose updating the menu. He came to the table to ask our thoughts. After a day long hike up Mount Washington I had a Hot Stone Massage set up in the spa area. You do need to make an appointment ahead of time for the spa because they call in the massage therapist on an as need basis. My body was tired and sore and the hot stones felt great. This wasn't the best Hot Stone Massage I've ever had but the convenience after hiking was wonderful. Overall, all four of us enjoyed our time at staying at the Inn at Thorn Hill and we would stay there again.

Yelp
My husband and I have been here twice: once for our honeymoon and once this Thanksgiving. We enjoyed our experience each time: the service is excellent and the rooms are clean and romantic. We enjoyed the excellent hiking nearby. If you go here, definitely get a room with a jacuzzi. It was a great way to unwind every night. Also make an appointment at the spa. I have never been as relaxed at any of the drive-through places we have here in Boston as I was at the Inn's spa. You must choose wisely from the menu (ie: the tuna was disappointing), but there are great dishes for even better prices. My favorite item was the hamburger with lobster mayonnaise.
