The Inn Downtown

This was our first time here, and we would stay here every time in Portsmouth. The rooms are cozy, comfortable, and very clean. We did not hear any of our neighbors. The kitchen is stocked with necessary cooking items. We had a room with a hot plate, which was all we needed to cook meals, but they do have full kitchens. We also were happy to use the available laundry. I really recommend staying here.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at The INN Downtown. We were delighted to discover this unique and charming inn, which is conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants and the downtown area. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay in a historic building rather than a typical chain hotel. The inn was thoughtfully equipped with every amenity we could have needed, and the coffee was so exceptional that I now special-order it for our home. We highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay. First, there is parking on site which is huge for us as we traveled 5 hrs and it’s the last thing you want to do is look for a parking spot.|We stayed on our way to Maine to split up the trip and my wife had to work from her computer the next day. |We’ve stayed in Portsmouth many times over the years but never in a spot like this. |Close to everything and all walking distance. Enjoyed my morning stroll for coffee and the night prior we enjoyed the many restaurants and bars.|It was the first place in a long time that I wanted to just hang out in a hotel room.|The room was impeccable and the amenities were enough for a long stay|I just found a new place on our way to Maine

What a wonderful boutique hotel! The room we stayed in was an enormous studio with kitchen area extremely comfortable couch and amazing bed. Extremely clean room. Location is right in the middle of town tons of places to walk. Owner answered all questions we had and directed us to all the local spots.

Amazing inn. The rooms are gorgeous, super comfortable beds and linens. Location can’t be beat as it’s tucked a little bit away but still within walking distance. Best part? The sound machine.

Perfect location, everything we wanted to do in Portsmouth was within walking distance. Room was large, comfortable and had everything needed for our stay. The hotel is impeccably decorated, which is a nice change from your usual sterile hotel setting. Easy check in, easy check out. Very happy with stay. Highly recommended for anyone thinking of staying in the area. Cava restaurant and Jimmy's Jazz club were highlights of our trip.

We had a wonderful getaway weekend at The Inn Downtown! The property is so nicely done and set among several other beautifully-preserved historical buildings in Portsmouth. It makes one feel like they are looking back in time when walking the grounds or looking out the windows! The unit where we stayed was terrific - clean, nicely furnished, comfortable temperature, fully-applianced in the kitchen (it even had a washer/dryer in the spacious bath!) and dark blinds for sleeping a little later than usual! The location is ideal for walking around Portsmouth and stopping back to the room whenever necessary. Management of the property was superb - very communicative via email after making reservations and while on the property. We had a small need, and Doug was very quick to respond and take care of us. All-in-all, a wonderful weekend, and The Inn was a big part in us feeling that way. Would highly recommend!! Thank you so much!! :^)

Loved our stay at The Inn! It's a great location and very quiet inside. The rooms are so spacious and almost feels like home when staying out of town. The rooms even at electric skillets if you were there for longer and wanted to cook! Will definitely stay here again if we ever visit Portsmouth. Everything was clean and the beds were super comfortable. Also appreciated the nearly blackout curtains/shades so we could sleep in on our kid-free weekend :). Rooms also have a steamer so you don't have to iron any clothes. 10/10 would recommend. The owners/managers are very helpful on their restaurant insights as well. Thank you!

The Inn Downtown is amazing. I seriously wanted to move in, it's so cute. Check in and checkout are a breeze and it's close to everything downtown. There's a kitchenette which makes life easy if you're eating out and bringing any leftovers home. The bed was so comfortable it felt like I was in my own bed which literally never happens at a chain hotel. I will absolutely stay here again and have been telling everyone the same.

Awful room for the rate it was filthy had pubic hair in the bathroom sticky spots in the room. I had the staff come re clean the room. Nothing was comped not even an apology. My wife owns a maid service on Martha's Vineyard. The owner treated us like dogs.. The ac. Barely works. The owner was less than respectful same for his staff. I was over charged. Then told to call booking.com bye the owner also started calling me names. After I told him he'd got a bad review. Ruined my father's day. Thanks Doug we will never return.

The Inn Downtown is THE place to stay in Portsmouth. Not only is it beautiful it's functional. Our room had a full kitchen and a large bathroom with a washer and dryer in it. As for location, the Inn is in the perfect spot. Tucked away just enough to not pick up on downtown noise yet, still in the heart of downtown Portsmouth. We couldn't have been happier with our stay and we look forward to staying again soon.
