Eat Wander E.
Yelp
We chose to try this restaurant as it came highly recommended by our B&B host - so, we would like to clarify that this review is not for the food as we never had the chance to try it. We also chose it because it had decent reviews, was one of only a few restaurants in the area, and the pictures of the food looked good. We arrived around 7:45 PM, an hour before closing, but didn't have a reservation. Although we are accustomed to places that are full and completely understand if no seating is available, this Sunday evening was exceptional.
A hostess greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. We said that we did not and she promptly stated that they were completely booked and that there was no room for us without a reservation. I asked if we could simply attend the bar for a drink instead and she again shut me down by saying "No, we're fully booked."
Generally, I'm accustomed to a bit of politeness. Perhaps apologizing or offering to make a reservation for me on another night may have been nicer. Alternatively, why not let us at least have a drink at the bar? I think what put us off was the stern tone and shortness that the hostess took with us. Her quick ability to deny us twice in a matter of seconds was surprising.
We wouldn't recommend going here without a reservation. Instead we had to travel 9.4 miles to Pitlochry and enjoy Victorias Restaurant instead as no other restaurants were open in this area at that time. Victorias turned out to be quite good and we would definitely recommend going there instead of this Inn on the Tay.
