**5 stars** I recently dined at the Inn on the Tay, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! The homemade Steak and Black Pudding Pie was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection – truly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The setting is equally as impressive, with stunning views of the river rapids adding a unique and peaceful backdrop to the dining experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the evening even more enjoyable. Whether you're looking for delicious food or a beautiful atmosphere, this place has it all. Highly recommended!

As we opened the door we received one of the friendliest welcomes ever from waiting staff. Without exception, we were treated with respect, kindness and attention, whether this was for a drink in the bar or the outstanding meal we had. This unassuming inn embodies all that hospitality truly means.

We love this part of Scotland and had a family lunch for finish our holidays there. Food was delicious, service on the highest standard, great views on river, amazing atmosphere. We will definitely come back. Our group age was between 3 and 82 and every single one had a lovely time ❤️

We are staying here right now and have to say that this Inn is amazing. We had a wonderful warm welcome and everyone has been friendly and helpful. The room is very comfortable with a superking size bed plus another single if needed. Two sofas and spacious. The view of the river from the bedroom is stunning. The food is delicious, from the breakfast to the evening meals. This is a very popular place for good reason. We heartily recommend this Inn and will definitely return!

We visited for dinner whilst staying at the excellent nearby campsite, just a couple of minutes walk away. We’ve also dined at the hotel across the road, which serves a more sophisticated restaurant menu. The two venues complement each other with the Inn on the Tay serving more traditional pub food. However, the quality of food is supreme. I had venison which was excellent - very well presented and full of flavour. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding. Now, I consider myself a bit of an expert in this particular dessert and I have to say, in all honesty, it’s the best I’ve ever had. For simple reasons - the right ratio of sponge to sauce to ice cream, and the style of bowl it was served in was perfect. Just brilliant. We will certainly be back and I highly recommend it

We stopped for dinner. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was well presented and delicious. We were staying in Aberfeldy. A 15-minute drive away, so I can not comment on accommodation.

We did not stay, but did have dinner and would highly recommend. The location is lovely and atmosphere inside the restaurant was great with good spacing between tables, live music and really nice decor. The waitress was great and service was quick. We both had the pizza which, while good, was not quite as tasty as I'd hoped and we would probably not choose it again. The side of chips with garlic sauce were delicious and the banoffe pie was outstanding. The restaurant was very dog friendly and we were offered a water bowl for the dog after we sat down.

Yelp
We chose to try this restaurant as it came highly recommended by our B&B host - so, we would like to clarify that this review is not for the food as we never had the chance to try it. We also chose it because it had decent reviews, was one of only a few restaurants in the area, and the pictures of the food looked good. We arrived around 7:45 PM, an hour before closing, but didn't have a reservation. Although we are accustomed to places that are full and completely understand if no seating is available, this Sunday evening was exceptional. A hostess greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. We said that we did not and she promptly stated that they were completely booked and that there was no room for us without a reservation. I asked if we could simply attend the bar for a drink instead and she again shut me down by saying "No, we're fully booked." Generally, I'm accustomed to a bit of politeness. Perhaps apologizing or offering to make a reservation for me on another night may have been nicer. Alternatively, why not let us at least have a drink at the bar? I think what put us off was the stern tone and shortness that the hostess took with us. Her quick ability to deny us twice in a matter of seconds was surprising. We wouldn't recommend going here without a reservation. Instead we had to travel 9.4 miles to Pitlochry and enjoy Victorias Restaurant instead as no other restaurants were open in this area at that time. Victorias turned out to be quite good and we would definitely recommend going there instead of this Inn on the Tay. We also post more reviews on our EatWanderExplore travel blog.

Yelp
Great location beside the river Tay. Modern restaurant with traditional Scottish touches of design. Separate bar area with leather and velvet couches and chairs. The Inn decoration and style warrents a higher star rating but the overall experience brings it down :( The waitresses were efficient but lacked personality or warmth, little engagement before, during or after the order for food taken, disappointing. The steak and mushroom pie was full of chucks of beef with a good flavoured gravy. The sweet potato chips delicious. What a shame, a fab looking place but I wouldn't rush back. Xoxo

Yelp
Found this place by chance when looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch recently. Really glad we did because the burgers were amazing! Attentive and helpful staff made for a nice relaxing lunch. Great view of the river and the kayaks braving the slalom course. Will definitely stop in again when back in the area.

Yelp
Wanted to eat here earlier today (New Year's day) and was lured in by the sign outside that said "Food served all day" but as we got inside we were told by the lady on duty that only residents were welcome and we couldn't eat there. As we were ushered out, she promptly locked the door behind us to make sure we didn't get back in. Pity such a great location is serviced so badly. Won't go there again. Happy New Year to you too...
