7 hipster spots to visit the next time you're in Patan, Nepal - SilverKris

"Tucked away on a quiet lane just steps from Patan Durbar Square, this boutique hotel is a lovingly converted Newari brick building restored by conservation architect Rohit Ranjitkar. The property features intricately carved windows and door frames, ten individually designed rooms furnished in earthy tones with handwoven, undyed textiles, friendly service and a pleasant cobblestone courtyard." - Elen Turner

A very beautiful little gem located perfectly in patan. Personally we like patan more than thamel so we really enjoyed discovering this place. |The rooms are super comfortable and specially clean which we find hard to find around patan and thamel. |The staff were always very dedicated and super friendly. Breakfast was above standards. They also have a restaurant where the food is great! |We enjoy the little courtyard where you could have breakfast lunch and dinner.|When in Kathmandu we definitely come back to this hotel!

If you're looking for a non-luxury hotel, but a very authentic one. With very attentive and friendly staff. If you don't want to hear the noise of the road. This is the place for you. I highly recommend it. The wifi is good even for online conferences. Don't forget to try the apple pie!

I had a wonderful stay at the Inn Patan. The staff were so warm and really went above and beyond to provide excellent service including delicious meals - an enormous thank you to everyone. The hotel building is beautiful (really a home away from home) in a great location in Patan Durbar Square. I would definitely recommend staying here!

The staff were completely absent the entire time — no service, no attention, nothing. There was no water (not even bottled), no tissues, no side plates, literally nothing provided. The drinks were terrible. The hot chocolate was honestly the worst I’ve ever had, and the cheesecake was either rotten or just badly made — I genuinely couldn’t tell. Overall, this was the worst dining experience I’ve had in Patan. Absolutely disappointing.

This is quite an unusual accommodation. The property is a converted 19th century building, which means it is quite quirky and charming with low thresholds at places and weird angles...and door padlock which was attached to a chain. Yet it is clean and inviting. I stayed in room 10 which was on the top floor with its own little balcony looking down a narrow alleyway and the hustle and bustle of Patan. The buildings surround a courtyard that has places to sit and eat on the first floor as well as on the balcony. I was initially given a room with no view. I payed a little more to stay in a room with a great view, especially at sunset. Two things to note: there is no air conditioning and no elevator. I thought this was going to be a problem but it really wasn't. I was there in May and I had the window open, had no insects/mosquitos in the room.|The staff were all very friendly and helpful.|You can just walk outside the Inn and explore the narrow alleyways full of small restaurants and shops. Durbar Square is 5 minutes away...fun to explore at night. I ate at a local hole-in-the wall (there were actually holes in the wall) where the staff spoke no English.|I would definitely stay here again!

This is the most beautiful hotel. Tucked away from the busy streets of Patan. The service is impeccable and genuinely warm. The rooms are incredible and very clean. 5 🌟 from me

We came here expecting the “hidden gem” everyone talks about—what we got was a masterclass in neglect. No water, no side plates, no napkins—nothing—until we called the staff over multiple times. Hospitality 101 clearly missed this place. The club sandwich? Bread so tiny and the side salad? Stale, lifeless, and clearly past its prime—no excuse for this at any café claiming quality. For a place that charges premium prices, the bare minimum should be prompt service and fresh food. Sadly, The Inn Patan managed to miss both. Won’t be recommending, and certainly won’t be returning.

The Inn Patan reeks with character. One is made to feel comfortable and at home away from home. The food is great as is the service. The young men on duty do everything possible to satisfy.
